Coconut and bread pudding pastries
Brittany B.

Delicious pastries! Line was long but decent. You get to select your pastries and put them on a tray and pay at the end. Line can move a little slow depending on how decisive people are with selecting but it wasn't too bad.

Iced Mac nut coffee with extra shot

I arrived at least ten minutes before opening and there already was a line. There was a huge assortment of pastries during opening. I selected three and my favorite would be the haupia brioche buns. The bread was soft. The haupia wasn't overwhelmingly coconut-y and there were small coconut pieces on top. The Panana croissant (passion fruit, mango, and banana) was good too but after some time, the passion fruit was the only thing you could taste. The iced coffee was great as well!

We started our morning on the 4th of July in Waikiki. Everyone raves about this bakery, but their hours suck. They're open from 6:30am-11:30am. We got there around 10 and most of their pastries were out. They mostly had different varieties of bread left. They also had cake slices and sandwiches. They only had two types of pastries left: European Butter Croissant $7 and Valrhona Chocolate Croissant $7.50. We got one of each along with an iced haupia matcha latte $9.50 and a hot white mocha $7.50. The croissants were airy and flaky. My haupia matcha latte was delicious. No complaints there. I just wished that they were open later and had more pastries throughout the day. They have a glass panel, so you can see the pastry chefs in the back baking. They validate if you park at the Halepuna Waikiki Hotel. Halekulani Bakery was voted Best of Honolulu 2026 winner.

coconut cake

I heard the coconut cake here was amazing and it looked bomb. Got a slice for $14 and enjoyed it on the flight home. I'm not really a shredded coconut fan, so I don't really know why I wanted to try it...but the cake and the filling itself was good though. TIP: If you're a guest of the adjoining Halekulani Hotel, you get 10% off your purchase on Saturdays. I personally feel like hotel guests should get that discount every day, not just Saturday. Lines can get a bit long in the mornings, but it moves quick. We've tried the pastries before on a past visit, and recall they have a nice crunch when you bite into it, but otherwise, not super memorable.

Q: Why did the coffee bean keep checking his watch? A: He was pressed for time. Halekulani Bakery is a light, bright, wood-lined bakery featuring treats including croissants, muffins, and coffee. My waifu, Sherly M., told us to come here. As someone who doesn't eat too many sweets, even I found myself falling in love with this place. After a few hours at the beach, we popped into the Halekulani Bakery for a pick-me-up and some treats. $8 Salted Caramel Croissant, $7.50 Chocolate Croissant, $8.50 Guava Matcha, and a $7.50 White Mocha were ordered. AMAZING after a morning on the beach. The drinks were smooth and the croissants were flaky and delicious. I thought the salted caramel croissant would end up being too rich or too sweet but it was perfect with the earthiness of the guava matcha I was drinking. I need to get their coconut cake slice the next time I'm there!

Ok this is a treat you need to visit. Really good food and very friendly staff. They recommended the salt caramel croissant. We also got the cake.

Pabana croissant

I walked here for breakfast, I got a pabana croissant and a cappuccino. It's very good and the line is very fast. There are a few tables inside and also seating outside. But everything is pricey. But hey it's Hawaii.

Pabana Crois, Slice Coco Cake
Sandy L.

We arrived around 9:30 AM, and since they're open daily from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM, most of the pastries were already gone by the time we got there. Luckily, we managed to grab the last Pabana Croissant (passion fruit, mango, and banana) and a slice of coconut cake, there were only a few slices left! We're so glad we still had the chance to try their pastries and cake. The Pabana filling had a great balance of sweetness and flavor, not overly sweet. The passion fruit really stood out, with a slight hint of mango, though the banana flavor wasn't very noticeable. As for the coconut cake, it had a strong coconut aroma, a soft texture, and a rich, satisfying filling. The cream wasn't too sweet either, which made it even more enjoyable. Overall, we loved everything! If you're planning to try their pastries, definitely go early, items sell out quickly. Store hours are 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM daily. :)

Clockwise from left most pastry: passion fruit custard filling 5/5, black Carmel kouign amann 4/5, and mango cream cheese bread 3/5
Jenny D.

I think the pastries were baked very well. Many of the custard and fillings had a Hawaiian or island twist. Lots of passion fruit and lilikoi. Kouign amann: 4/5 delicious but couldn't have too much because it was pretty sweet. Extremely caramelized and has an extra toasted slight burnt taste if you like that! Passionfruit pastry: 5/5 crispy flakey and light on outside like a perfect flat croissant with creamy passionfruit custard. Mango cream cheese bread: 3/5 I would skip. Bread was like sour dough, tough to eat and not remarkable. Vanilla latte: 4/5 solid coffee, but maybe a little too roasted for my taste Long lines in the morning especially weekdays. Also very close to center of Waikiki and the Sheraton. There's also the spamusubi cafe nearby!! Plenty of seating outside and some inside too. Such a cute cafe/bakery.

Wow, I knew that this bakery was famous and I now know why. The salted caramel croissant was incredible. We also picked out a few other pastries but this one won the contest! The espresso machine was broken so we will be back tomorrow to try their lattes.

The Halekulani Bakery was good when they first opened. It is ahmazing now! Was privileged to visit again while friends staying at the Halekulani's sister property, the Helumoa. The bakery is actually in the Helumoa Hotel ACROSS the street from the Halekulani on Kalia Road... right next to Umi by Vikram Garg. Everything I've had here is spectacular. The fig and nut bread reminding me of my favorite in Korea. The pistachio raspberry croissant, had it two days in a row! Of course the signature salted caramel and chocolate croissant soooo good. The drip coffee or other fancier drink are perfect compliments (I really like their hot coffee on drip here tho expresso is available too). Looking for occasion to return for the elusive fig and prosciutto croissant and the delicious looking avocado toast. And if in the mood for their matcha guava latte. Tho, that drip coffee..! Parking is validated in the building for the first hour with purchase.

Chocolate haupia brioche garnished with chocolate flakes and gold leaf

One of my former coworkers suggested that we stop by here to enjoy some morning pastries and catch up. It had been years since I visited Halekulani Bakery, so I was excited to check it out again. The gorgeous bread display immediately caught my eye upon entering, but it wasn't long before we were able to move through the line to the pastries. Holy perfect laminated dough, Batman! I cannot even fathom the technique it requires with the butter to get SO many layers of flaky, golden pastry. I opted to get the chocolate haupia brioche, garnished with chocolate flakes and a gold leaf. We were lucky enough to snag one of the tables as a family was leaving, so we got to enjoy our meals immediately. Yum! The brioche wasn't sugary and had a rich chocolate flavor. The textures inside were both creamy and crunchy, so it provided a nice contrast as I bit into different sections. I'm so glad I got to visit again after all this time. They have so many different options to try, so I want to come back before the trip is over, especially as the signature coconut cake and the beni-imo tarts both looked incredible!

Stopped in here for a quick coffee and was pleasantly surprised! This place has some tasty drinks and a ton of freshly made pastries - definitely worth checking out if you're looking for an easy breakfast spot.

Ask the Community - Halekulani Bakery

The bakery offer any gluten-free options?

Yes, but very limited (maybe just one or two items are gluten free). I didn't pay attention to the desserts which may be GF, but they had at least a GF muffin option.

Does this location still offer breakfast buffet?

At the Halekukani Hotel across the lane they do. Believe it's at House Without a Key on weekends. Not at the bakery I don't think.

What is offered on the breakfast buffet? Mahalo!

Sorry I haven't been to the breakfast buffet. I have reservations for Easter brunch buffet and was told by the staff that their previous holiday buffet was a big hit.

Can I have a light breakfast such as a pastry and coffee besides the buffet?

Yes, I recommend the chocolate brownie bread from the bakery.

How much is the breakfast buffet and what does it consist of?

$34

TLDR: Long lines even at opening, customizable options but consistently good!…read more Can't say I haven't had authentic acai up until this point. For some reason, I totally forgot that good acai could be found in Hawaii!! Hello!! Its not just the fresh fish ya'll I walked here and there was still a line by 7, and even longer one when I went the next day, but it does move quite fast, especially with some of the workers letting people know they have a sit down resturant next door so just food for thought if you want more actual food options! As it stands they have quite an extensive list of juice, coffee, acai. I decided to go with a more basic route but instead subbing my fruit for what was in season which was mango, lilikoi and lychee. You order at the front and they call your number. They have some seating around as well but if you're at the hawaiian center you can just sit downstairs. The fruit alone was out of this world. I was actually so focused on that I wasn't even thinking about if the acai was good which I think it was! It comes out rather creamy, not frozen or icy. The price is a little steeper than what I've had in the past but honestly the fresh fruit alone made it extremely worth it. A regular sized bowl was quite filling! I came back the next day and it was still just as good. I know some people probably prefer different locations than others but I can rep this one for sure. Its in a very touristy place, maybe even the mecca so if you want to avoid that then avoid any location in waikiki

Their other location of Shirokiya Village Walk in Ala Moana closed abruptly during the start of COVID in March 2020 and sadly never reopened. That means the only Kulu Kulu is at Eaton Square conveniently located on the first floor. This Kulu Kulu store opened in 2013 and still going strong. We recently came here to capitalize on their 14th anniversary special with 8 assorted sweets for $27.50 (originally valued at $55) for a limited period of 3 days from 10/23/26 to 10/25/26. I originally was planning on getting a red velvet cake for my sister's birthday but consulted with the fam and decided on this anniversary special plus 4 of their famous Diamond Head Puffs, offered at BOGO deal. We ended getting several of their anniversary specials to give away to others and a box. After our dinner, we asked the staff who kept it chilled from when we arrived at the restaurant and were in awe of the attention and detail and precision. Crowd favorites were the mango mousse cake and Japanese cheesecake. Their Diamond Head puffs don't disappoint. So perfectly shaped with a firm exterior and center generously filled with cream. Some may think the cakes here are pricey but the quality and flavors justify. I personally enjoy the nama chocolate and eye stunning rainbow cake. I'm still glad we get to enjoy Kulu Kulu and even a super plus when they have their anniversary special. Congratulations for celebrating another year and looking forward to my next visit.
