    Americano

Wow! I'm in town for vacation and was on the search for a good place with a good Americano. We were greeting promptly upon entering by a team member that had a genuine simile. The search wasn't disappointing! Hala Tree Cafe has just that! Nothing crazy, nothing wild, just a straight up hot Americano. This place had a nice relaxing atmosphere with the design and the nice tunes. My sisters go the Hibiscus Lemonade and Honey Lavender Matcha. They had the same sentiments as myself. Highly recommend!

Cool place... Literally as today is Summer Solstice it's sure been heating up strong and if the perfectly air conditioned cafe doesn't sound inviting for just a few days all drinks are 50% off and yes it sure is! You can find this adorable new cafe on the ground floor on Kānekapōlei St next to Lilia Waikīkī and this bright and modern aesthetic vibe is so calming and relaxing as I took a sip of my "Honey Lavender Matcha" that was just perfectly done and the light and refreshing matcha was whisked to a lovely froth. I couldn't resist and paired it with a Kona Coffee Cookie which I did have a difficult time identifying as it had no price or name for each item but my confusion must've been obvious as a gentlemen came over and described each one and for reference it was $5 for two large cookies. Menu is quite simple though being that it's just their four day shy of their opening the staff is just so friendly and efficient my only grief is the usual locals rely on is parking....they don't have any it's just their four street or nearby International Market Place is the options though if there is a chance for you to take a break this is the place that I'd totally recommend as this cool spot get ready for their grand opening on July 1st. Thank you!

Hala Tree Cafe opened their Kuhio Avenue location last week - their soft opening. Hours are from 600a to 500p. I visited their Ka'a'awa spot near the Crouching Lion. They had good beverages and pastries; and continue to provide the same quality in Waikik Lilia (condominium) on Kuhio Ave. and Kānekapōlei St. Parking is available in Lilia's garagefor guests - I'm not sure of validation rules. Entrance for the cafe is on Kānekapōlei. Dining area is rather large - there is a table for standing and enjoying your beverage. Ordering is to the left of the entrance door; pickup at the end of the L-shaped counter. I had a Cascara Cola for takeaway. Spicy and not too sweet. Cascara is the fruit of the coffee bean that is dried and made into a tea like beverage...it has a much lower caffeine level. No waste. Grand Opening: July 1st.

Came here twice during our short trip. I'm not a matcha fan but it was good ! My bf who enjoys matcha said it was very good quality. Creamy and flavorful - the original and mango version. I got the ube latte and vanilla late. Great quality coffee with the perfect amount of sweetness that does not mask the coffee. The almond croissant was a delicious treat. Space is big with nice lighting and friendly staff. Quick service

If I had seven more days on this island, I would be at this place at least seven more times. The atmosphere is chill, the coffee is high quality, and the food was delicious. We're going to the big island in a few months, and we're for sure gonna do the Hala Tree farm tour!

Love Hala Tree! Such joy to find a nice, cool space in Waikiki where we can sit and have a 100% Kona brew in quiet to take a break or catch up. Everyone was nice. Best wishes Hala Tree.

So many options/ tried a lot, very good!

Parking: parking lot in Lilia or street parking Service: The service was really good here and the staff is very friendly and attentive Drinks: Uala latte, OMG SOOOO GOOD! 10/10 I'm getting this again (but I also want to try their matcha latte) Food: I went with a bunch of friends and we tried majority of the pastries, but the most memorable one for me was the basque cheesecake. It was so light and not overly sweet. I also really loved the savory croissant. When I was there I kept seeing all the sandwiches come out so next time I want to try one of those. Overall: I would say this place is a hidden gem. I'm coming back so I can try more items! Vibes: Such a cute space and very well designed.

I was excited when I first saw this cafe being built. Now that it's open and I've had the chance to visit, see the interior, and try one of their drinks, I'm even more impressed. I wasn't sure what to expect since there are already several cafes in the area, but this one truly stands out. I ordered an iced matcha latte with coconut milk, and it was simple yet delicious. Plant-based milks are available for an additional $0.50, which I think is very reasonable. They offer oat, almond, and coconut milk, and I chose coconut. You can also add flavors for $1, like lavender, which I'll definitely be trying next time. I also appreciated that my drink had the perfect amount of ice--not too much and not too little. The woman at the register was friendly, and the barista was as well. She let us know that our drip coffee would take about five minutes, which gave us time to sit down and relax instead of standing around waiting. I really appreciated the communication. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu because everything looks and sounds delicious. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, making it a great place to stay awhile. They did a wonderful job with the interior design. I especially loved how the local plants throughout the space complement the cafe's farm-to-table concept. It creates a fresh, welcoming atmosphere and strengthens the connection to the local community. I'll definitely be back!

What a gem! We stumbled upon this place and now it's a favorite! The Ube latte and mochas iced were delicious! Not to sweet, just sweet enough! The bacon, egg & cheese biscuit was so fluffy and delicious! We shared and wish we got our own! There's seating inside and out. Great spot!

A beautiful cafe with an amazing story about their coffee. The lovely couple behind this shop bought a coffee farm in Captain Cook on the Big Island and learned everything they could about coffee farming and sustainability. Support local!!! Pastries are 10/10.

This might be one of the only places in Waikiki open at 4 AM which is perfect if you've just arrived the night before from the East Coast. The inside of the shop feels homey. They have a display case full of pastries along with additional baked goods set out nearby. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

I came in because I saw that they had vegan donuts. He said I could do guava, blueberry, or plain,…read morebut he recommended the guava. It was less than three dollars including tax, so definitely affordable. The guava filling was great, but the donut itself was kind of bland. If it weren't so cheap, I would have given it three stars. But it was a good deal and I might go back.

This is the only standing Kulu Kulu and I hope this place does not close, or if it does relocate, come closer to Central Oahu where the rent is cheaper, haha (hint). This location is on the outer edges of Waikiki on Hobron Lane in Eaton Square. I rarely venture to Waikiki, and if I do make the dreaded drive to "town", this place and Kan Sushi will be the only regular places where I will make my stop(s), because its so worth it. I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries. I also plan to support this business for as long as I can and make more frequent trips to town just to get these amazing desserts.
