Excellent customer service. Mark Cox and team are just wonderful. After looking online at Warby Parker and other locations such as DiNoppoli, wound up picking LensCrafters at the mall - and couldn't be happier. Very nice to have very knowledgeable staff while also being friendly and low key. They did a great job fitting frames with glasses and getting the right combination of both. Also had great customer service. When an error was found in my new pair of glasses. They more than made up for it - both promptly and to my great benefit and satisfaction. Can't recommend them more highly. I've already bought another pair as has my partner. read more

Stay far away from this LenCrafters. Each optician is meaner than the next. Refuse to assist you over the phone. They will make up fake hippa laws to avoid doing work. They will lie about your options in order to get you to buy new glasses. When you try to have something explained they will just shout over you like child. The absolute worst customer service. The manager refuses to talk to customers and hides in the back. Go to Vision Works. There are more locations and cheaper prices for the same products. 0 stars read more

Terrible customer service. I spoke with someone on the phone and stopped by within 10 min to pick up a set of contacts. They told me to sit and they'd be right with me. I watch as new customers are addressed and helped as I sit and wait read more

Honestly, it was an overall "ok" experience. I think they try their best anyway. Our final pickup of glasses was an in/out. I had my "nose" thingys adjusted (Ray Ban clubmasters) and it was fine. Picked up my RX for future reference and will probably order online for a less-expensive 2nd pair. Again, Veronica was very helpful! read more

It took over a month for my mom to get a callback. She was lied to and said her prescription was lost when in fact it was just discontinued. They could have fixed it with a simple call and not lying. Beyond terrible service. Went to a competitor down the road and saved $85. After looking at the other reviews it is clear that this teams needs to be fired or retrained on how to treat customers. Avoid this store and the entire team. read more

I visited today at the Crossgates location in Albany, NY as I am in urgent need of new glasses. I explained to the sales person that I need larger frames. Her response was basically that I should go through all the frames and see which ones fit. I then inquired about getting a pair of glasses today per the stores website. The sales person told me that the store has a lab at that location, but no one is employed there who can actually make lenses. I explained that the Lenscrafters website indicates that glasses are available at that location "in about an hour", and I traveled there in the expectation of getting something today. The sales person's responses was that she " had no control over the website." That was a very poor answer to give to a customer - don't push the blame somewhere else. I love to support local, brick and mortar businesses, but why should anyone with service like this? Sad to say I'll be trying the Internet vision vendors. read more

LensCrafters - Eyewear & Opticians Near Me - Albany, New York

There is a management problem here. I came in a few weeks ago to impulse buy a couple of new pairs (I have about 40 pairs- it's only a problem when I run out of storage LOL). I was being helped by a really lovely new hire who was in training and she clearly had a good eye as she great in helping me pick my new pairs. That's when manager Danielle stepped in and told the new hire to go do paperwork in the back- was pretty rude and condescending to the young woman. Hello- she was still helping me! She took over and couldn't figure out how to make my insurance work- actually told me they didn't take it. I got a good price w my AAA card but it was still more than I would have paid w insurance. Fast forward a month and I bought another new pair (don't judge) with help from saleswomen Alayna and Carly (LOVE THEM). Turns out they DO take my insurance. Thanks Danielle for screwing me out of a couple hundred dollars. Noted. I'm sitting in the store right now waIting to pick up new specs w the BF, and we've been sitting here for 45 minutes waiting for pick up and adjustment. It's just manager Danielle (she's in the back doing ??? not customer service) and two other people who are totally overwhelmed but doing the best they can. The selection is good but there isn't even a lab here anymore so it takes closer to 2 weeks to get your new glasses, and I feel bad for the staff in this store. BTW that nice new hire who was here oUr first time? Doesn't work here anymore. Which is really a shame because she was a natural. I hope she quit and told HR that Danielle was a terrible manager. Side note: Bruce does a great job w adjustments and fittings, even if he does refer to grown-ass women colleagues as "girls." read more

You need eyewear, contact lenses, an eye exam ... anything to do with your vision go to LensCrafters in the Crossgates Mall. Great selection, great pricing but most importantly FABULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE! (That is not easy to find theses days...) Manager Danielle and her team will lead you through the process from selection to check out with professionalism and knowledge which are unparalleled. No request is too large or too small. I purchased contacts, glasses and sunglasses and am thrilled with the total purchase. Go in ... see Danielle and you will have a perfect experience. Dr John read more

CROSSGATES - I had a scheduled appointment for an eye exam - talked me into getting a Tele Service exam from their office. After waiting 25 minutes, they then tell me they cant get it to work, so I would have to wait to see the on site DR. When I told her I couldnt wait, she said, oh well nothing else I can do. What a waste of time; very unprofessional. read more

I have been a customer at Lens Crafters for over 10 years. I have been to locations all over the country. I had the worst experience at the Albany branch in the Crossgates Mall. After a rushed eye exam with an individual who has zero people skills, I clearly expressed that I was not interested in finding glasses that evening. Not only did Mark tell me that I could not get lenses with the frame size that I wanted, he kept me there for over a half hour. By the end of the visit I was exhausted, extremely annoyed and insulted by him. Mark is rude and pushy. He is clearly more interested in making sales than actually helping people. I went to Empire Vision (Visionworks) and got the glasses I wanted in the size I wanted. I will never go back to that Lens Crafters. read more

I stopped by the Lens Crafters (not Crossgates) where I bought my Oakley sunglasses to see if they could repair them after they were squashed. I was told that they wouldn't touch them because they would break if they tried and that they would happily sell me new frames for my lenses. Not really what I wanted to hear. I stopped by the Lens Crafters in Crossgates Mall and was immediately greeted by a friendly Avery who informed me that they would try but wouldn't be liable if they happened to break. They were unwearable in their current shape so I didn't have much to lose. I was introduce to Kelly Bierce, who patiently and expertly began to sculpt my $400 sunglasses back into shape with what seems like surgical precision. My sunglasses are literally good-as-new with out having to (unnecessarily) purchase new frames. The Crossgates staff is both Friendly and Helpful! I know where I'll be returning in the future. read more

Okay. Good service and nice choices, but my scratch free lenses were literally covered with micro scratches 6 months after I bought them. Never used anything but soft cloth on cleaning. And received no help from the store. I cannot literally see out of these lenses as they are fogged up with micro scratches. I've been wearing glasses for many years and NEVER had this happen. read more

Wait: 5* for a glasses place? Yeah, really. OK, maybe 4.5, but I'm feeling generous. Still: the staff (and especially the spiky-haired manager whose name I have sadly forgotten; I only discovered he was the manager when I asked if he had a boss to praise him to) went out of their way to lower my cost, track down my prescription, identify the perfect frames, and so on. Speedy without being rushed, and sufficiently professional that I even agreed to the up-sell of a warranty (well, that and the fact that the previous pair being destroyed by my 3 year-old was the reson for the visit!). Well above the norm for Lenscrafters. read more

I have been in glasses since first grade, and I am old now. That is to say that I have been to a lot of glasses places and through A LOT of glasses in my lifetime. I write, then, with some sense of authority when I say that the staff here is exceptional. The manager, Mark, not only helped me with the glasses that I was purchasing but was willing to go the extra mile to help my partner with her glasses and prescription, though they were not from LensCrafters (he even followed up with her about the issues she was having via phone days after our having been there). It took multiple visits and the addition of Daniel chipping in some glasses ideas before I finally settled on a pair. Unfortunately when I finally got the pair of glasses that the friendly staff had invested hours of their time in helping me find I just COULD NOT get used to them on my face. So guess what? True to their policy, Mark graciously took them back and helped me attain the pair that now sit on my face and allow me to see the screen upon which I type this review. I later went back and purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses here and had an equally friendly and attentive experience. read more

I've been wearing glasses since a young age and have been to plenty optometrists. I don't usually go to LensCrafters but I needed a new pair of glasses quickly as well as an updated prescription. This was the closest optometrist near me at the time. I called and made an appointment which was simple. I went in, the staff was friendly and the whole visit was fairly quick. The glasses were pretty expensive as they usually are, but I didn't see that many add ons were put on my glasses and the price was crazy. I just needed a simple pair of glasses. Anyways, I was a bit skeptical of how good the prescription was because when I saw it, it looked as if my eyes did a lot of changing in one year. I knew it wasn't possible that I had astigmatisms in both eyes and needed specific lenses and for that matter stronger glasses. I took the prescription to my usual optometrist and was told the prescription was completely off. The prescription asking for much stronger lenses was not the case at all and instead my eyes were the same as the last year. I'm glad I went to my usual optometrist because the prescription from LensCrafters really would have messed my eyes up. I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had scheduled an appt for 6 p.m., specifically with Dr. Simpson. He used to be at the Rotterdam Square Mall location before it closed, and I really liked him. Upon arriving, I noticed the store was full of people waiting. I asked the young lady who checked me in how long the wait was. She said the store had a power outage and the Dr. was behind - but she didn't know how far behind. That was frustrating, as it took me about 40 minutes to get there in rush hour traffic. I ended up waiting 1 hr. and 10 minutes for my eye exam. Dr. Simpson was great. Even though he was behind, I didn't feel rushed. He answered all of my questions and made sure that my prescription was correct. The Crossgates location is small, cramped, and has less to choose from than the Saratoga Springs location, so I decided not to fill my eyeglass prescription at Crossgates. The next day I went to the Saratoga Springs/Wilton Mall location and had a great experience. The store is really big, has a larger selection, and I had absolutely no wait time. My glasses look and fit great, and they even replaced the hard plastic nose cushions with silicone ones! read more

I had a great appointment. I arrived early to fill out paperwork and they were ready for me immediately. I'm sorry I didn't get the first technician's name but he explained everything in the preliminary exam, he was very nice. Then, almost immediately I was called in to see Dr Xu. She was so efficient and personable. She walked me through my exam in no time. I loved her. After I picked out my frames, Sajad worked with me to order my glasses. He was very nice, too. He answered all my questions about ordering my glasses, what all the prices were and what they were for. He even worked to get the most benefit for my AAA discount. I definitely will be going back next time. read more

I initially came here because my last pair of contacts ripped and I needed new ones and a new prescription ASAP in January 2010. They have a lot of available appointments, I will give them that. That's about all I liked about this place. When being seen by the optometrist, I felt like I was a "number" or being rushed out as if I were on an assembly line. He wasn't personable at all, and when I tried to crack an ice-breaking joke, I didn't even get a smile from him. He put me on a new brand of contacts (Acuvue Oasys) even though I had not had problems with my old brand. Ever since then, I have experienced itchy, red eyes when I wear the contacts. I thought it was my allergies, but after reading some Acuvue Oasys reviews, I am certain it's these damn contacts the optometrist insisted would be better for me. I called back (albeit 7 months later) once I realized it wasn't me, it was the contact lens, to see if I could be fitted for a new pair. Sure, they said, but it will probably cost you another $100 for the exam. NO THANKS, I will go to the opthamologists office that accepts my medical insurance. Way to try to keep your customers. Also, I bought a pair of glasses in March or April. My dog destroyed my Ralph Lauren glasses, and though Lenscrafters sells them, they didn't have them in stock and told me I'd have to wait for a new shipment. I waited until the new shipment came, was going to buy a pair I didn't really like, then thought i'd ask if I could just order my old Ralph Lauren glasses. Oh yes, you can. Why wasn't I told a week before when I initially came in? They ordered the frames and lenses, because they didn't have my lenses in stock, then cut the lenses for the wrong frame, then had to reorder the lenses to correctly cut them for the frame I had actually purchased. I was beyond annoyed (at this point, it had been 10 days since I'd ordered my glasses and I had been told it would take no more than a week). I asked them if there was anyway the other lenscrafters store that was 10 minutes away had the lens in stock. They did! I had my glasses within 2 hours. Why did I have to make that suggestion to the employers? I would think they would use their heads and actually take initiative to see how issues like this can be fixed. The people that work here don't seem to really care about their jobs or the customer/patient. I won't be back. read more

I had such an incredible experience at this lens crafters that I had to write review. I came in late Friday night about an hour before they were going to close. I started working with Matthew who helped me look through every pair of glasses in the store. We select a number of glasses that looked good on me and kept them for later. Then we used a machine to weed out the particular glasses didn't look good with more light and when I had my glasses on, able to see. By the time we're all set and done he got a huge discount on my glasses. After all my uncertainty, Matthew was there with me for an hour after they closed. And he could not have been nicer and more courteous about the whole process. I had an excellent experience there and I loved every minute of it. I wouldn't be going anywhere else for glasses. The selection could have been larger but they have so many great styles you bound to find something you'll love. I highly recommend this lens crafters and it's employees! read more

We have been going to this LensCrafters for many years. The staff is so friendly and helpful, the selection of frames is huge with a good price range that helped us to choose for all of the family. The services offered are the best we have found in the area and they are open every day so getting adjustments or repairs is very easy. The staff takes a lot of time to help you, especially the manager Peter, and the company stands by their guarantees which is wonderful. Highly recommend. read more

Usually a good experience, but additional wait time for an unnecessary dilation. The new doctor has been annoying from the beginning to end. I do not need to be told it's not necessary for me to be in the eye exam room with my 19 year old son. I already know that. I feel like there was a total disregard for our time. read more

I generally have very good experiences at LensCrafters. This time, it wasn't the best. The eye exam itself was just as expected: quick, easy, and painless. But when it came to ordering the proper glasses I needed, it took them about 30 minutes on the computer to simply put in the order. Then, one week later, I receive one pair, and they tell me the other two pairs were coming in later, and they would notify me when they were in. After another week or so, I decided to contact them again, as it had been almost 2-3 weeks since I had been waiting. They apologized and told me that they had received one pair at the store, and should have called when they arrived, but they must have made a mistake. The third pair was shipped to me a couple days later, and were actually what appeared to be knock offs of the 350 dollar Ray Ban's I purchased. I took them in, and again, they apologized, and replaced the pair with another that they just happened to have sitting in the store at the time. All in all the end game was alright, but boy did I get a reach around! read more

My first couple of interactions at this location were not positive ones. I was very upset and offended by the way I was treated in the past. However, Dr. Xu contacted me directly to address my issues. I worked with Adrienne the store manager and she was wonderful. I left happy and comfortable. Thank you again Dr. Xu and Adrienne! I appreciate your help and efforts! read more

I was very impressed w/ the attention paid to our family's individual needs, It was very appreciated!! My son received a pair of glasses w/ a protection plan, which is a necessity for any repairs or a new set. I received my glasses in a week because of my particular need's and that was reassuring. Also my glasses have a protection plan! AWESOME! I also tried wearing contact lenses again. I thought it would be hard to find a brand that would be comfortable to wear. I have had no luck in the past. I had a great experience w/that as well, Dr.Halpin made sure they were the right script and that they fit my eyes well. So far so good, now I can actually go swimming and see what my children are doing!!! Their technology is very unique, and provides helpful information for the care of my eyes. read more

I have been a customer here for many years and have been satisfied with the service up until now. I don't recommend purchasing the glasses protection because if you actually have to use it, they become unkind salespeople who are not making money off you. My son's glasses were broken a few years ago and the protection plan gave us the opportunity to get a different, more durable frame, but when I had an issue with mine this past week, I was treated like I was trying to get a new pair for free. Not the case at all. My lenses are scratched and I did purchase the protection plan when i purchased them. however, I was forced by a pushy salesman to get the same glasses in black with no alternative. I don't like black glasses, my skin and hair color don't really look good with black. He was more concerned with me not being able to get a free pair (his words) and that i have such great insurance that I could get a free pair of sunglasses with insurance that actually came out to almost $200 when rung up. This salesman has made me, an avid customer with impeccable insurance coverage and a family of five who also were glasses, to NEVER want to return. So, great job LensCrafters, I will be going elsewhere from now on. You have lost five very good customers because of that guy this week!!!! read more
