I just had a fantastic experience at DiNapoli Opticians. I had an emergency situation. I broke my glasses and asked if I could get an appointment right away. Within a half an hour I was in the chair getting an eye exam. The eye doctor was pleasant, and very helpful answering questions. Then magic happened. Phil AJ and Lisa answered every question fitted and sold me a pair of frames that was perfect. They really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable, happy and well satisfied. It's very rare that I write a review, especially in the parking lot of a store I just visited. But I am that impressed and wanted to give them the recognition they deserved. Thank you DiNapoli. I have been here three times. The first was to have an older pair of glasses repaired and to schedule an exam. They have the option to charge $10 for eyeglasses repair, but they waived that since I was becoming a new patient. The second visit was the exam, and the third was to pick up my new glasses. The staff here are all very friendly and professional. My exam did not include some of the higher tech bells and whistles my previous optometrist used, but they did exactly everything the previous did just as easily and more quickly. Frame selection and fitting was a good experience. The waiting area can get a little crowded at times, and patients sometimes spill over into the seats in at the fitting tables. But overall it has been a good and convenient set of experiences. read more

Took in two pairs of glasses for adjustment, one bought there, one not. Was charged $10 and she said the glasses I bought there could not be adjusted. She adjusted the ones not bought there, they were slipping down my nose constantly. I paid $10 and they were again slipping down my nose before I got to the car. I still have the receipt for the glasses I bought there, nearly $1000. So ok, keep the $10 but I'm never going there again for glasses, which of course I will need the rest of my life. read more

Although Dr. Braim was great and gave me exactly what I wanted, Liza then presented me with a totally ridiculous and fabricated "bill" with information that she said she just received from CDPHP and aggressively tried to extort an extra $109 more from me than I owed. She actually had printed some strange figures on a sheet of paper - for example, the individual yearly limit and some other total nonsense - and kept yelling that I hadn't met my deductable so if I subtracted some amount from my deductable, it came to $129.00. She stated she had submitted my card and was sent this information from CDPHP. I refused to give her more than my $20 copay and she said I would have to talk to her boss and pointed to someone sitting at the table. I waited for a few minutes and then told her I was leaving and offered her the $20. When a nice gal from CDPHP and I called Liza about 20 minutes later, she said she had talked to her boss and I was all set. Genuine information from CDPHP with my card number could never have come up with $129, so I can only conclude this was an attempted scam and they should be ashamed of themselves for attempting to take advantage of a 77 year old woman. read more

I have been blind as a bat since birth. I remember 5 or 6 years ago sitting in my optomotrists office and asking if I could get accuve hydraclear brand contacts. Was told nope, theyll never make those in your script. 3 years ago I had lost a contact, my glasses were broken, I called my doc and he was on vaca. I figured I would give Di Napoli a try. I went in and got the best service imaginable. Walked out with contacts that day! Was shocked they actually had trial pairs of my script, in disposable none the less. This is my favorite place to get glasses & contacts, though my new optical insurance doesn't cover this provider. But - it doesn't cover much period. Once I got the maximum benefit for half a contact lens at the "Fast contact lens/ glasses Super Store" where no one introduced themselves, no one knew my name and I never saw the same optician twice- I came here to see my favorite optician: Dr. Morrissey. Staff is always pleasant, selection of frames is the best and prices are fair. And there are several stores around the area you can stop in at for an adjustment. My Mom purchased a pair of glasses from them; probably spent over 400.00 for designer frames and lenses. Well here we are a little over a year later and the anti reflexive coating is peeling. She went in and showed them the peeling; they said "sorry there's nothing we can do-the warranty is for one year". What BS- this guys a millionaire and he couldn't do anything for and 80+ old woman who paid cash for theses frames and lenses. If I purchased lenses from them with my insurance; my insurance wouldn't cover new lenses for another 2 years; so why the hell would you put a one year warranty on the coatings that peel? Very disappointed that they did not step up and make this right. I'd suggest keeping in this mind and going elsewhere for your lenses. read more

What amazing service! I was visiting for a wedding from out of town and the airline lost my bags containing my contacts. The receptionist and doctor helped me get free replacement contact samples so I didn't have to wear my glasses to the wedding. They were so, so nice and helpful. If they treated a random person from out of state so well (who is therefore unlikely to ever be a customer), imagine how well they treat actual customers. read more

The staff here is very friendly, professional, and they do not try and sell you stuff that you do not need. There was also very little wait time, and they are not pushing 10 people an hour through the door, compared to the awful big box chain store in the area that I transferred from. The DiNapoli staff - from eyes exams to choosing the right eyewear for our 'look' and our budget - has been nothing but thorough and professional! For myself - super Mom, my hubby, kids and Mother in law - everyone! The one time we strayed elsewhere we found that the staff to be not much more than clerks and not nearly as knowledgeable as the DiNapoli staff. My friend suggested DiNapoli to me and she was spot on. The receptionist was polite friendly and very sweet.and got me in within two days of my phone call. The doctor who completed my exam answered my questions about the lens that I needed. Sue helped me choose a type of progressive lense that would best suit my profession and even went out of her way to contact someone who dealt with these type of lenses before completing my eye glass prescription and called me on a Sunday with the information. Within 10 days from initial phone consult to receiving my glasses I have a great pair of eyeglasses with cool frames that work seamlessly. My eyes are no longer tired by the end of the day. I'm sorry but I'm upset. Awhile back, at least a year ago, I had my eyes examined at the Stuyvesant Plaza location. I heard nothing but good things so decided to try them out. They were very professional and pleasant. I was pleased in the beginning but soon ran into problems. I am a diabetic who understands the importance of yearly eye exams. The eye exam I was told showed no signs of damage which relieved my fears of damage. I had to get a new script though and decided to purchase the frames and optics from the same location. I chose the frames from a pretty big selection and measurements were taken. They suggested an upgraded lens package which I agreed and was told the glasses would be ready within a week. A week went by and no notification they were ready. About a week later still no glasses so I called. At first they couldn't find the order and they would call me back. Days later and still no call I called again and found that there was a problem and they would get back to me. They did call and told me they were ready for pickup which I did the following day. The minute I was being fitted I was told that the special upgrade that cost extra couldn't be done. Okay I said. They offered store credit as the full cost had been already paid . I requested a check and after some back and forth with management they cut a check. The minute I put the glasses on I knew something wasn't right. Things looked cloudy. They checked the script and made adjustments to the nose piece. The adjustment didn't help. I was told because it was a new script it would take time to get use to them. I left with my $800.00 plus glasses and tried to get use to them. Weeks later and there was no difference. Things looked cloudy still and again adjustments were made. Another adjustment and still no correction . I gave up. I knew they weren't perfect so I just worked with them the best I could. Recently I changed my General Practice physician due to my other doctor retired. After a full physical, some change in prescription and blood work I was satisfied with the new doctor. A few days went by and I received a call telling me the doctor wanted me to get my eyes examined. It was time and he suggested a couple of doctors and I made an appointment. I wasn't in the doctors chair more than a minute when he questioned the thickness of my glasses. He thought they were too thick. We did a thorough eye exam with dilation as well as a special test because of my diabetes. The exam went well until he told me that both my eyes had very bad Cataracts. He said the glasses I had were way off and I needed surgery. The cloudiness I had been experiencing was not because of the prescription glasses but because the Cataracts were so bad. He asked when was my last full eye exam was and when I told him he stood back in shock. He explained that Cataracts do not grow that quickly. It was years of growth and should have been taken care of sooner. I am scheduled for surgery in the next couple of weeks. Again he said the last eye examine should have picked up the dangerous Cataracts. My eyes were so bad the doctor wanted to call a cab as he was worried about my driving. He said by law he was obligated to contact the state motor vehicle department. Because of a handicap I don't drive except for doctor appointments. I have an aid to assist me for general housework and shopping. He did not call the state office. I know a lot of people will blame me for this problem and in truth I am responsible for my own health. I have to say however if I had been told about this problem by DiNapoli I would had taken care of it immediately. When a doctor examines your eyes and tells you all is fine except for a change in prescription you trust him. I paid this company close to $1000.00 for an exam and glasses and I feel let down.. I have never in my life started legal action against anyone and it will stay that way. A full year plus of bad eyesight and the possibility of blindness I think I have a right and a duty to others to make mention of this problem. I really would like my money back. read more

I have just been browsing different stores for frames I like before I actually sit down for an exam. Linda took A LOT of time and was not pushy at all with which glasses to get. She told me how every pair I tried on looked and complimented me or didn't compliment me. I love honesty and she didn't just say the glasses looked good so I would buy from the store. At first I almost left the store without anything I liked but then kinda found something that I liked very much so. You would think since they're in Stuyvesant plaza that the prices would be horrendous but they're not. The frames/lens I picked out there were cheaper than lens crafters believe it or not. Id rather pay for excellent experienced customer service than that of an opinion of a 20 year old optician who just needs a job :) read more

These guys are the best! When I wanted to put prescription lenses into my 8 base wrap frame, I contacted every optician from Saratoga Springs to Kingston, NY and was told the same thing - impossible (I have a -4.25 SPH and -1.00 CYL in my left eye). Talked with Dave Caluori in Stuyvesent Plaza and am now wearing perfectly fitted wrap sunglasses with polarized KBco "Wrap Solutions". Vision is perfect with zero distortion over the entire range of vision. So it IS possible! These guys made it happen when others couldn't. Recently fitted for progressives in my dress eyewear - I had very specific requirements using a lens that DiNapoli generally doesn't dispense. The result - perfection. Complete, professional service. I know that there are a lot of businesses out there hawking eyeglasses. You get exactly what you pay for. My last experience with one of the more noted chain outfits was wham bham thank you man. I had an exam by an optician who didn't want to be there and treated poorly by the young zombies they hired to work the store. No more, this time I went directly to the DiNapoli store in Clifton Park and was treated with concern and respect. I was given a professionally administered complete exam, and they took the time to measure me for my glasses. I was not forced or put upon with up charges. I was courteously called to tell me my glasses were ready and was carefully fitted to make sure they were correct and comfortable. In the end I paid half of what I had been charged for my last pair, and I have no insurance. Were they cheap, no but about what I expected but still almost one thousand dollars cheaper than the chain store. Good, solid, professional service and my glasses were right the first time. read more
