I've been going to Casey Vision for over 30 years and have always had a great experience with the doctors. They're knowledgeable, kind, and provide excellent care. Unfortunately, what has consistently taken away from that experience over the years is the front office staff--specifically, Joanne. Joanne has a long history of being dismissive, unhelpful, and at times, openly rude. Years ago, she refused to release my prescription for a snorkeling mask until I spoke to the doctor, which felt unnecessarily difficult. Last year, when I got glasses from their office, no one explained they were progressives--and when I had trouble adjusting, the process to fix it took multiple visits. There was no guidance or accountability on her part. Most recently, as I waited for my appointment, she loudly said to another staff member, "There's the girl who was a problem." I hadn't even spoken yet. When I asked to set up a time to look at frames, she said there was nothing available, despite it being well before closing. It was very clear I was being intentionally pushed away. What really stood out was how familiar this behavior seems to be. When I casually mentioned my experience to a coworker, my boss overheard and said, without hesitation, "That sounds like Joanne from Casey Vision--that's why I don't go there anymore." I've also noticed several other reviews here mentioning her by name, which unfortunately lines up with what I experienced. The doctors are great, but Joanne makes the overall environment uncomfortable. I hope the practice takes this feedback seriously, because no matter how good the care is, the experience at the front desk sets the tone--and she's driving patients away. read more

Excellent exam and good eyewear selection. Just a little aggressive on the eyewear sell side of things even when your prescription is unchanged and you're not up for new frame coverage medical benefit wise. Something you just need to be ready for when you visit. The experience after the eye exam is very much like returning a car after its lease is up. Expect a strong push for another one. read more

I had to go to this Optometrist because of the insurance I have and the frame type that I wanted. The optometrist herself was fine and examined my eyes professionally. The problem I had was with the other women in the store. After I placed the order for the glasses they told me it would be around 7-10 business days before they arrived. After 3 weeks, I still had not heard from them so I called to find out their ETA. I was told that they had come in a week ago and they tried calling me but NA. I asked what number they called and she gave me a number that was in their system but I hadn't used that # in 15 years. Since I had put my current # on the paper work I had to fill there, I asked her if she compared the two. She said no! I then asked if they had emailed me and she said "we don't do that", I asked why not and she could not give me an answer. I then went in to get the glasses and was expecting a fitting and some adjustments but Joanne just put the glasses on me and asked if everything looked clear or blurry. I said a little blurry. She then said " well wear them for 5 days and you'll be fine and walked away. No adjustments or anything. She was really rude and inconsiderate, abrupt, unfriendly and unprofessional as another customer stated. There was another technician there that was so loud I had to put my fingers in my ears. So begins the poem by Edward Lear, and thanks to the excellent customer service provided by Morgan, an optician at Casey Vision Care, it's now possible for me to clearly see the owl, pussycat and their pretty boat. Prior to my visit to Morgan, I perceived the world through a scratched lens in my eyeglasses. When I looked at the owl and pussycat's boat, the scratch made it appear as if there was a great gouge in it, making it alarmingly unseaworthy! Morgan replaced the scratched lens at no cost to me, in just a few days, and made the repair a hassle-free experience. The poem ends with these words about the owl and pussycat: "They danced by the light of the moon". Now, when it's nighttime and I gaze at the man in the moon, I no longer see an unsightly scratch on his face, due to the superb vision care provided by Morgan. (DH) read more

Ive been going to Casey for many years now. I work around nearby although I live 30 minutes away. That is why I started going to Casey. The optometrist is very nice. Always has been and very knowledgeable. Seems that they have always done well in filling my prescriptions with issues. They are a bit pricey with their frames although they do sell only name brands as well. They have a small location so selection can be an issue at times. Casey Vision Care does take most insurances and will work with you on payment. I have been back numerous times for adjustments and sometimes they haven't gotten the adjustment quite right. All in all I do like them and continue to go with my daughter as well. read more

Dishonest Practice. First of all, the eye exam I have taken there is professionally done. I have no complaints about it. My problem with them is their profit-oriented business practice. My vision insurance covers 4 boxes of contact lens (~$200 in value) mostly for free for certain brands and models, and will only reimburse $45 for others. But their receptionist told me the latter is the only option. The contact lens I am currently wearing is actually one of the selected models that I can get 4 boxes for free. But their optometrist tried to change it to a new brand that is not fully covered by my insurance, WITHOUT consulting with me. (A little explanation for someone isn't familiar with health insurance business, insurance companies never reimburse the full price to the stores, they only pay 'discounted price'. Stores earn more if you use less of your insurance and pay with your own money.) I do not think this is a misunderstanding/miscommunication or just a coincidence, since same thing also happened to my girlfriend in their store. So in summary, for the same service and products, if you are willing to spend ~$200 extra, helping them to earn ~$100 more, and helping your insurance company to save ~$100, you are welcomed to go to their store. But for me, I decided to go somewhere else. read more

We have been going to Casey Vision for years and trusted their expertise with complicated prescriptions. However, our most recent visit (scheduled appointment) with Joanne, was unwelcoming, abrupt, unfriendly, unprofessional and lasted approximately 10 minutes in total. We had selected several frames and after doing so, went to the desk for a fitting and our selections were tossed to the side with a "no" at each selection to which Joanne got up, went to the back wall, selected two frames, came back and gave us a choice to pick from and measured the lenses with little to no conversation, stated a price and sent us on our way. In the past, there would have been an opportunity for more frames to be suggested that would be more suitable for this particular prescription, that carries more weight on a frame, however, that was not the case at all. Needless to say, after being clients for many years and feeling tossed aside at this appointment as if we "put them out", we have decided to move on to a caring local, independent optical shop that was able to fulfill our prescription this morning with new technology that measures exactly where this complicated prescription needs to rest on the lens without error, several frame options were suggested to hold the lenses with a friendly, engaging demeanor and from a professional clinical optician that genuinely cared about meeting our needs. Requesting years of files from Casey Vision came as a shock to Joanne, however, no apology will suffice for the matter in which your care failed us and we have the utmost confidence in our new opticians and their ability to fulfill our future optical needs. read more

Over- priced , inefficient , obnoxious snobs ! I have been a customer with them for almost five years but forced to write this review after the most recent experience . Please avoid them . 1. They are over-priced for the same set of eyeglasses available online or at the next prescription eyeglass store . In fact , they do not have a very good selection ( reference to men's frames ) 2. They are very poor at customer interaction and service . It was not like this earlier , but maybe more of a personal issue of a few of the recent staff where they take the liberty to be rude , obnoxious and unhelpful to customers. 3. My eye glass was a disaster with a prescription lens error ( I found that out after visiting a specialist eye doctor ) and a frame that kept coming off my face and even falling down to the floor whenever I bent down to pick up something . Please note : It was a very expensive , rimless glass and I have a good vision insurance provided by my employer . I would not go back again , not even to repair my glasses . read more

Run. I went for a contact lens exam. It went fine. I wore the lenses for about a week and came for the follow up and he insisted on using a q tip to pull back my eye lid before ordering me the contacts. I could not do this as it physically made me ill. He refused to order contacts unless I could do it. I wasted time and money and insurance and have nothing to show. I am now going to have to go somewhere else and pay full price for another exam. I wore contact lenses for years and never had this. read more

I have been to Casey Vision twice, and my family members have been there as well. The optometrists and other staff are very nice, and what I like about them is that they don't tend to try to upsell their products to me like some other optometrists have. However, when I asked for a copy of my contact lens prescription, they said that my lenses are "price controlled", which means that I wouldn't be able to get them less expensively anywhere else. That is just untrue. There are lots of reputable sellers of contacts (including 1800Contacts.com and bjswholesale.com) that carry my lenses for over a hundred dollars less for a year supply. I called Casey back to confirm the price when I was ready to actually order lenses, and a different associate said the same thing. I did poke around online to get some information about "price controlled" lenses, and it seems to me like that's not even a thing. I have never heard that before and I would hesitate to go back to Casey because it seems like they are using a shady sales tactic. I have ordered my contacts elsewhere, and although I suppose Casey's eye exams are fine, I would caution consumers against taking their word for anything with respect to purchasing contact lenses. read more

I've been a patient of Casey Vision for over 10 years. I have a wacky prescription and have been in glasses since kindergarten. For years I went to discount and mall optometrists but never again. It wasn't until I had a really well-made pair of glasses from Casey's that I realized what I was missing. They are definitely on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. After a thorough exam a different person helps you select the right pair of frames. The folks who work there have a good eye for style and know what frames will work well with your prescription and your face shape. If you have a tricky script, are looking for high quality or are just plain fashionable, Casey Vision is a great choice for glasses. read more

I have been a customer of Casey Vision for 15 years and will remain faithful to them based on their competent and thorough eye exams, their friendly and personable service, and their wide array of quality products. They would never let you leave with glasses that are ill-fitting or unsuited to you. My family and I have bought numerous pairs of glasses there and never been disappointed. I never even made it to an appointment at Casey Vision Care. I was offended by their receptionists lack of care and rudeness. I first called to make an appointment and was immediately treated as a child. The receptionist was a woman. She was highly unprofessional. She sighed when I asked her question and seemed that it was a pain to help me adjust to being a new patient. Since I wasn't sure of my prescription, I was told to "figure it out before you show up". Isn't that was new optometrists are for? I made a new appointment at a different office in Albany because I wasn't comfortable going to this new place. When I called back to ask them to take the hold off of my insurance because I made and appointment at a new place, the male receptionist immediately hung up on me. No questions, no apologies. So if you're looking for an optometrist who will treat you like an utter moron, then this is probably the place for you. read more

My wife, daughter, and I have been clients for close to 2 decades. We have been very happy with the customer service and professionalism of the optometrists, opticians, and staff. I am blind without glasses and have always been willing to pay a bit more for excellent vision and comfortable and fashionable glasses. I especially appreciate the ability to come in at any time for an adjustment. I have had to replace lenses that scratched prematurely and they helped me get a free replacement. We have been patients of Casey Vision for 17 years. Never even considered going anywhere else for our eye exams, glasses, etc. They always deliver first class customer service and exams. Dr. Casey Gee is amazing. She is very thorough and gives a complete eye exam. If she spots an issue, she is always ready to offer assistance, or refer you to someone who can handle your issue. Never been steered wrong by her. She is also just a very nice person. Morgan and Joanne are great opticians. They really know their stuff. They are always spot on with their frame suggestions. Joanne told me I should consider computer glasses because of various issues I was having. I thought "okay - yeah right". She was spot on. I have never regretted my decision to purchase computer glasses. They have made a world of difference. Never been steered wrong by either of them. They are also just very nice people. It always feels like we are family when we walk through those doors. I never hesitate in referring friends, co-workers, etc. to Casey Vision. I called them to see if they carried the brand of frames that I like, which are expensive and worth their while to sell to me. The person I spoke with was rude. She kept interrupting me before I could get my questions out. The main gist of the conversation was that I'd better get there early, or they would not serve me. I thought, well, maybe she's just having a bad day, and there will be more cheerful people in the store. Nope. Overall they were aloof, unhelpful and didn't seem to care whether I purchased anything or not. I'm totally underwhelmed, and will not go back. I'll keep my crappy old glasses until I can find a friendly, helpful store to do business in. I highly recommend you skip these guys. read more

After reading the reviews left for Casey Vision, I felt compelled to write a review myself. I have been a patient of Dr. Casey for more then 10 years and have always been treated with respect. Yes, their frames are a high quality and more expensive then mall and chain stores and so are their lenses. However, I can see clearly! Since I am an avid reader and fall asleep with my glasses on, I still frequently to have my glasses adjusted. Last year I had an allergic reaction to a frame, my insurance approved a second set of lenses and Dr. Casey returned the used frame for credit to the manufacturer. Everyone is always pleasant and ready to help. Dr. Casey and his staff cannot be held responsible if an insurance company does not cover certain frames or lens treatments. That is between the patient and the insurance company. I worked for a vision insurance company for years and will not pay for anything not covered under the plan. I for one am very happy with Casey Vision and will always highly recommend them. read more
