I won't be returning ever again. The complete child at the front desk does not have a single clue how to deal with 1-800 contacts. 1-800 contacts has them down as an uncooperative eye care center for a reason. The first time I ordered my contacts they messed up the prescription (sheehy) and the person at the front desk refused to do anything about it until I had to pester him for almost a full week. I thought I finally found a place I could call Home for my eye care and unfortunately, this is not the place.. completely and utterly unprofessional front desk administration and I will never tell a soul to go here. read more

Excellent experience! A+ The receptionist was friendly and helpful with identifying my insurance benefits during my call to book the appointment. My exam was thorough and the optometrist listened openly to my concerns. Spent about 40 minutes looking at frames and never felt rushed - the optometry tech encouraged me to take my time. Once my glasses arrived, the same tech helped me understand the progressive lenses and adjusted my frames. Parking is easy on the street and the waiting area bright and comfortable. My new go to opticians! They are a oasis inside a desert of other providers. Great service, friendly staff, and excellent selections. I was able to find the same designer of my glasses, whereas the place that I bought them from no longer carried them. No waiting in lines to get to the front desk, no hour waits to see an optician, and no pressure sales. I didn't even know that the optician who waited on me once was the owner Matt( SHEEHY)!!! I never write reviews but I seriously can't say enough good things about this place. Coming from out of state, I had to try a few places out and am so relieved I found Sheehy. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful! I saw Dr. Jennifer Tribley-Grill and I really cant recommend her enough! She was very nice and made sure I was comfortable the entire time! I am so happy I decided to go to Sheehy Opticians, when I needed the complete change of my eyewear after cataract surgery. The place has this beautiful, warm atmosphere which makes you feel relaxed and confident that you are in good hands. My case was a complicated one: as a professional photographer, I needed a perfect vision for retouching on the computer. The biggest problem, though, was the necessity to focus at the distance and review the images on the camera screen seconds later, without constantly putting on and removing reading glasses. I explained all this to Mary. We talked about the specifics of my work. I never felt rushed or pushed in any direction. The solution Mary offered worked perfectly - today I got my working glasses, and I couldn't be happier. The computer glasses were made in their lab within 15-20 minutes on the day of my first visit. I needed an optical exam as well as new glasses, and I called Sheehy's at random. Now I say "Very Lucky random call." These folks are awesome. I had the exam I needed and I got some great glasses that I am in love with. The prescription is perfect, and I am enjoying my glasses. Mary took time with me getting me exactly what I needed and what looked good and felt good. That kind of service is missing from the quick internet glasses that can be ordered today - and frankly, the price was not a lot more than some of the internet places. I left there feeling that we are doing a disservice to our health and our appearance by not going to see an optician that is wise enough to have a couple of great doctors on staff to do full and thorough and comfortable exams. The Sheehy experience felt like "a team" - both doctor and optician -- was with me in this experience. How long since you had that experience in picking out glasses and feeling good in them? after misplacing my nearly two year old specs, i sought out a replacement pair. with an obviously outdated prescription, i aimed to get an exam and glasses in the same day. what a difficult task during the kiddie's mid-winter recess! doctors were almost unanimously out of the office. after calling everyone else in the book (pearle vision, america's best, lens crafters, empire vision, target, sears -- ALL OF THEM), i found sheehy. and i'm REALLY glad i did. i secured my 5pm appointment at around noon on a wednesday. phone service was friendly and professional, and offered an unprompted confirmation regarding insurance coverage. i arrived just two minutes early, and began to try on frames. sheehy had a surprisingly great selection -- kate spade, coach, among other designer and no name brands. i was greeted shortly thereafter, and asked to complete a brief form before seeing the doctor. the doctor was WONDERFUL! dr. coley was a witty man who made me feel welcome and comfortable. throughout the exam we chatted, discussing hobbies (a line on the form), work, etc.. before i knew it i was back in the store searching for frames. mark (one of two brother-proprietors) was helpful, but not overbearing. knowing i was on a budget (losing $300+ glasses will do that to you), he steered me in the right direction. i walked out of the store paying $39 for frames (that i love) with scratch-resistant lenses. NOT BAD. plus! i was able to do it all in about an hour. besides my personal preference to support small, locally owned and operated businesses, i think sheehy is a great choice... you would too if you're looking for an optician who is intelligent, courteous, helpful, and efficient. read more

After quite a few years, I needed to change my optometrist and also get all new exam, and new computer/work glasses and also my walking about progressives. I was apprehensive about finding a new good place for my eyewear. Sheehy's had good reviews and they also carried the Silhouette brand of rimless glasses I love...they're expensive and are not carried everywhere. So I made an appt. Got a very professional eye exam that was not rushed, and then Matthew Sheehy spent a long time helping me get just the Silhouette frames I wanted and new lenses for each of my glasses. He even changed the plastic ear piece covers because I didn't like the black ones that came on the frames. Hingeless/rimless glasses are tricky to get just right, and they're a pretty big investment no matter where you buy them - but Matthew was very patient with all my questions and concerns, and he knew and explained exactly what was needed every step of the way, including the final fitting. The price was totally fair- a little lower in comparison with other places I had quoted. I'm real happy and will come back to Sheehy's with total confidence. Great little business!- the people at Sheehy's are professionals and they went out of their way to be sure I walked out happy with my new specs. :) read more

Outstanding customer service!! Mark was fantastic; I expressed the need to keep frame price as well as lens price down, and he was very accommodating and helpful, finding many different pairs that could have worked. I had brought a new prescription in from a national chain, and when I went to try on the new glasses, discovered that the prescription left my vision grossly under corrected. Mark was understanding and helpful, figured out what my old glasses were as a frame of reference and suggested I go ask for a recheck and offered to replace the incorrectly prescribed lenses with the newly prescribed ones. I haven't been to an optician this considerate ever in my adult life. I look forward to bringing my husband here for an unmatched level of eye care for years to come and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an optician in the area. read more

I can't say enough kind things about Sheehy opticians. this cute locally owned store has very friendly employees who fixed my sunglasses free of charge when every other store in town told me it could not be done. They have a wide selection of all kinds of glasses and sunglasses and seem to take a lot of different types of insurance. I would give six stars if it were possible. My son had an emergency and needed to get a pair of glasses sent to New York City. Sheehy called my son's optomestrist, got the prescription and ordered specialized lenses. He had the glasses a day later.. A second order for sunglasses went equally well--Sheehy helped me find a style my son would like and shipped them to NYC the next day. Sheehy's service was responsive and sympathetic. I had gotten another quote that was more than twice as much as Sheehy's. I would recommend them highly because of their outstanding customer service, quality, attention to detail and efficiency. Others did not seem to have any knowledge of the discount given by our insurance company while they alerted me to this and were happy to give me the lower price. It's well worth the drive to New Scotland Avenue, and you will be much better served than at the chains. Don't be afraid of the cost because you will be getting a quality product at a very reasonable price and they will be there should you have any questions or problems. read more

The exam was performed quickly and efficiently, and I received help picking out new frames that fit my face. I also liked that the price of the frame was listed.
