Made an appointment for our 4 children. Arrived for it a couple of days later. Children were examined consecutively, and 2 needed stronger lenses in both eyes. Brittany took us on as a family and she was fabulous! We got great glasses due to her recommendations and she even located a relevant coupon for us that gave us a nice discount! The manager, Chad, checked on us throughout the process and we were only there for about an hour! The whole staff was friendly, welcoming and caring. You can clearly tell they obviously like their jobs. It's our 1st visit with them and from our experience, I highly recommend them! read more

I have been trying to get ahold of someone for the past year, no one answers the phone and when I finally got someone to answer they told me they'd have someone call me back, no one did. Then I was told to email Visionworks with my complaints, I did... no one got back to me or followed up. THEN I just show up and they tell me my prescription expired and I'd have to pay out of pocket for my visit and contacts even though it's their fault no one returned any of my calls, messages, or emails. When I asked why no one got back to me the staff would just laugh and say "I know they are horrible.. it's corporate." 300 later, They are by far the WORST business ever and should not be allowed to operate. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. No wonder they have ONE star. read more

Answered their text message confirming the appointment. 4 days before the appointment I got an email thanking me for cancelling the appointment. I DID NOT cancel the appointment. My wife has waited over 4 weeks since ordering her glasses. I stopped in to the store check the status of her order today. She had stopped in after 2.5 weeks and was told " we have a new computer system so can't find your order. We will text you." Neither of us have been able to contact this businees by phone as there are run arounds and cut outs with the answering system. When I stopped in I was told by someone who was working with a customer, that I would be seen as soon as possible. Understandable as only one person working. I sat and there was one other person there before me. After few minutes,a lady in blue scrubs came out and asked the other customer what they needed. She was put on a list to wait for the person who was helping someone else. The lady never addressed me. In a few minutes a man came from the back of the store and stood talking to the other employee. Both occassionaly looked at me. I sat for ten minutes, stood up and announced " Can't get through on the phone and now both of you stare at me without helping me." I left. I still know nothing about my wife's glasses. We are committed because of an order placed and paid for. We will not be back after we ever, if ever get the glasses. read more

This place used to be pretty good, but it has gone downhill based on my experiences. They essentially treat customers like cattle on a cattle car. Bait and switch advertising on the cost of glasses. Last week was my last try at using this establishment. I decided to take them up on their $39.00 eye exam and glasses offering. So, I called to make an appointment and of course, just got their recorded message. After being on hold for about 15 minutes, I noticed that I could simply make an appointment on their web site. So, I hung up and did that. I scheduled the appointment and about 1 minute after I scheduled it I received a text message that read: "Your eye exam is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 10:00 AM. Visionworks - Price Chopper Plaza." So, I arrived about 5 minutes early for this appointment and was told that they didn't have an appointment scheduled for me. They asked if I might have scheduled at another store and I said, nope and that I had even received a confirmation text from them. But, they called 2 other stores anyway only be to be told: "no, they had no such appointment scheduled." The receptionist went on to say that their eye doctor was scheduled out for at least 2 weeks. So...there you go, that was my last experience with Empire Visionworks. read more

Apparently they're behind because the telehealth appointments are running over. Sorry, not my fault. Adjust your scheduling when you change things. Staff are said to be new -- it's amazing how jaded they are so soon. If my insurance let me go elsewhere I would. They also "can't find my record" after coming here 6+ years. Well, heck, it's not like there was any ongoing condition to monitor...oh wait... I did think the optometrist was professional and pleasant. It's the front office and management that's the issue. Called multiple times to reach the store to advise them that I will be late to my appointment. After toggling with their robot machine, I was finally directed to someone from the store. They informed me that I had a FIFTEEN minute gateway to make my appointment or else I had to reschedule. Luckily, made it within that period (due to work holding me back an extra 10 minutes) just to be told the new policy is EIGHT minutes. If I knew of the policy change or if the person on the phone and actual store were on the same page, I wouldn't have wasted my time rushing to an appointment that would need to be rescheduled. Poor organization. Like someone mentioned, there should be a human on the line. P.S, it seems like the doctors are over booked and have several appointments back to back. Seriously awful service. Lovely optometrist but the front office staff are a mess. No one picks up the phone, you have to wait over an hour to see someone even when you have an appt, they lose forms. I'm done. I've had 3 interactions with this store and still don't have an order in for the glasses I want because of their lack of care/follow up. No wonder ppl go to Warby Parker instead. MY IN-PERSON EXPERIENCE This is part 2 of my experience trying to replace my glasses through the Slingerlands Empire Visonworks. After having no success getting any response by calling for three days, I walked up to their door, and following posted directions came in and stepped onto the carpet. There were three folks working the store, two of them on the phone and one with a customer. One customer waiting. All properly masked. When one of the people got off the phone they took my temperature and asked what they could do for me, I told them I needed a prescription so I could replace a broken pair of glasses, and asked if I needed an appointment. What followed was fast and effective, with the staff jumping in to help me solve my problem in the best way for me. I left the store within five minutes armed with everything I need to solve my problem. I have a suggestion... How about editing the phone tree so callers could leave a message, and adding a store email option on the web site? Thank you to the Saturday crew! read more

I wish that I was not able to give even one star. I was in and out with the actual eye doctor. The entire wait was in the lobby. I waited for a hour to be seen to purchase my product. The wait was so long a customer took a nap. They were waiting when I first went in and were waiting when I came out of the room with the doctor. They had one person running around while the manager didn't help. The other person that was there was just sitting at the front desk. I have been trying to call locations to see when my contacts will arrive but it goes to a call center. I spoke with them- got a ticket number- and the manger was suppose to get back to at this location. Never has. I even tried the chat to followup and it's a robot that repeats itself. I have been a customer of VisionCare but I am surprised by the lack of Customer Service and communication. Please be more upfront and let people know what the ETA is going to be for someone's eyewear! Don't tell someone a week and it's longer than that. read more

Worst Customer Service in the history of Mankind... Seriously, in how can it be this bad. I ordered contacts well over three weeks ago. You're supposed to get a text in regards a contact order. No text. Eight days have passed since the order was supposed to be filled. When you call the local number, you get thrown into a queue, no one answers the phone even when you press emergency eye care need...no one answers the phone. I hope you're not relying on them for an actual emergency. When you try to find out the status of an order online, no status can be provided. You can not get your in store profile linked to your online service. It's literally a black hole of information - a fucking disaster. In the store the people seem nice enough. You will wait for ever to get an appointment. You will wait forever for your appoint once in the store. The only saving grace for this industrial complex of sight is that the prices are cheap and the glasses/contacts are still good quality.. But that's about it. read more

So done with this place. Scheduled an appointment for early March before they closed. Got emails about how they would contact me to reschedule but they never did. Try to contact them about rescheduling but just got put on endless holes to a corporate number. Went to the Guilderland shop to try to get my prescription filled and they told me they would have it from the Slingerlands shop in 2 to 3 days. Never heard back from them. Finally walked into the Slingerlands shop and made an appointment, and had to wait about a half hour for my examination. I am now here to pick up my glasses and have been waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time and still haven't been taken, meanwhile I've watched a half a dozen people, some with later appointment times, be served. Use this business at your own risk. read more

Once again, I have had an unhappy experience here. I got a call in January after several weeks on order, saying my trial lenses were finally in. I told them I was going to be out of town for several weeks and would they hold the lenses and not send them back. I was assured this would be the case. Today I called, said I'd stop by, could they locate them so I wouldn't be waiting an hour while they searched. And then? I went in, and they searched for 20 minutes before telling me they had been sent back! The only reason I come here is that they accept my vision insurance. read more

Here's my update. Customer service reached out in the comments telling me to email their customer service and tell them about my experience. I did that, and they told me they'll look into it and contact me. They never contacted me and at this point I find it hard to believe they ever will. If you're reading the reviews and seeing customer service reach out, don't expect them to actually do anything. They certainly didn't do anything for me. They did call me to reschedule my appointment to pick up my glasses. They did it one whole hour before my appointment too. The reason given was that they only have one optician. I only need one optician, so maybe they mean the optician had to leave for the day? Whatever the reason is, it's absurd how difficult it has been to get a single pair of glasses. The glasses arrived on Tuesday the 10th, but they wanted me to come in on Monday the 16th. That's a full month since I went in to pick out glasses. I can't make it on Monday because I'm a human with things to do other than sit in Visionworks, so instead I get to pick them up and hope they fit. They did say I can come back in for an adjustment, but I'm not too keen on making a sixth trip to the eternally understaffed Visionworks. FINAL UPDATE: Got my glasses. The guy on the phone lied to me because I walked in and saw the optician sitting there. I ended up waiting 45 minutes to get my glasses fitted. It turns out the optician could fit my frames during the appointment I made. I'm not sure why they tried to stop me from coming in for my appointment. My frames still have the weird pitted defect, so I know they only swapped the damaged lenses and not the damaged frames too. I desperately need my glasses to drive and see in general, so I guess I'll just take my glasses that came messed up. I know they have a 100 day return policy, but Visionworks is prohibitively difficult to deal with. Ultimately I am even more disappointed than I was when I wrote the last review. After five trips and hours upon hours of waiting in person and on the phone they still sold me scuffed up frames and made the whole process difficult until the very end. Customer service still hasn't called me. I wonder if they ever will. read more

I got a contact exam over six weeks ago, they refused to give me my prescription when I asked, and they also haven't called me back in over 6 weeks about my "trial" pair they needed to give me before giving me my prescription. I was just on hold for a half hour and still couldn't get through. Absolutely thrilled to pay $100 for nothing. This place blows. Go anywhere else. read more

This is my second one star review. Two months ago I had my appointment with the doctor for contacts. Trial pair #1 took 4 weeks to get, no one EVER called, I had to drive up there twice to find out what was going on. PLEASE NOTE YOU CANNOT CALL YOUR LOCAL STORE. YOU MUST DRIVE THERE IN PERSON TO ASK A QUESTION. Trial pair #2 was ordered, doctor assured me the manager would handle this trial pair order to be sure it was done right, drove up there after two weeks to see what was going on as I had not heard anything from them (told ten days to get them) and after waiting 20 mintues, I was told they are going to have to reorder them. I paid $80 and this is what I've received to this point. You will see a response soon I'm sure below with a sorry please contact us email. Been there done that, no one gets back in touch with you. I have been coming to this location for over a decade. I've gotten optical exams, glasses, and repairs from here, and found that all of my insurances had been accepted, the service was always friendly, and the opticians and ophthalmologists are competent and friendly. They're conveniently located, allow appointments and walk ins, and have a good selection of frames, coatings, and optics. read more

Empire Vision used to be a good optician when they were a small company. They had professional help, treated their employees fairly, had good optometrists on staff and provided excellent service. Then they became VISIONWORKS. I hope their service and quality remain the same under the new ownership. read more

This vision facility is absolutely the worst! The staff is unfriendly, often ignoring patients as they stand waiting to be checked in. On a recent visit three techs were huddled around a computer while 6 patients waited to be checked in. My advice, go elsewhere. read more

This all starts years ago, I got an Eye exam and ordered glasses, they come in 2 weeks later, they're not right, 2 more weeks and they come in again, not right, 2 more weeks not right, but their good enough, I don't want to spend hours Every other week doing this. No apology from anyone there especially the then manager, Sue. I don't know how Sue has a Job still, she is constantly disrespectful, unprofessional, lazy, and has the not my job, you deal with it mindset even towards customers. I did this for a few years because my insurance covered it. they try overcharging me every year and I am forced to bring a physical copy of my vision insurance benefits and even then it's still a fight. Then after a few years of this finally some light from above, Lens Crafters started taking my insurance. For the last 3 years I have been getting my glasses from lens crafters and have always left happy. I ran into a small problem this year when I was ordering mirrored rayban sunglasses from lens crafters. I ordered them, expected in 7-10 days, I get a call from them apologizing that they were just notified by ray ban that it was going to be around 2 weeks and offered me a $50 refund. Then at about 2 weeks They call again and apologize again saying rayban canceled my order but wouldn't tell them why and ask me to come in so we could work something out, I get there and the manager was waiting right away to work with me, she showed me all the options they had, frames, lenses, etc and was extremely friendly, I decided I really wanted the raybans but they couldn't do it from rayban or in their lab so she offered to call around to competitors and see if anyone could do it, turns out Visionworks could give me the prescription mirrored polarized lenses from their lab and put them in rayban frames. So the LensCrafters manager gave me a full refund + $50 and offered me 50% off my next pair of glasses even though it was in no way their fault. So I originally go to visionworks in 20 mall, I walk in and the person I was working with was snotty and generally being an ass. First thing I ask is what promotions were going on, he said none. I go on the website and there's a 40% off a pair of frames and lenses. He says I need you to give me the code. He's either completely unaware or wants to cheat us out of money which is the more likely option based off previous experience with visionworks. Then my father recommends I try a pair of Maui Jim's because I might like them more, the guy says no visionworks carries them, my father says that's BS, he bought a pair from the one in slingerlands 2 years ago. So we just leave because there's no way I'm giving this guy my business. I go to the one in slingerlands and am greeted by chad and I forgot her name, starts with a M and she was filling in from the Clifton park store. The first thing I see is a big Maui Jim display in the corner. They were surprisingly nice and I told them about my situation and they said they could do it in the raybans but my prescription wouldn't work with the Maui Jim's. So this is 18 days since I originally ordered my first pair from lens crafters, I am moving in exactly 2 weeks so I order the pair of sunglasses from visionworks on the condition they are shipped directly from the lab to the visionworks store in my new city across the country, she says she knows they can get them there if they came here first and then shipped them out again, and she would call me on Monday with an answer to if they can be shipped directly from the lab, what do you know close of business Monday comes along, no phone call, I wait until midday Tuesday and I call them to see what's going on. I remember while I'm on the phone with them that they never took any measurements of my face, how do they know where the focus of the lenses needs to go. I ask what they put down as my pupal distance and they say the measurement they took when I ordered my glasses says 30. I say they never took any measurements and they say that's not possible and are arguing with me. I tell them I'll call them back and I call lens crafters and ask them to give me the measurements they took when I ordered and they were happy to email a copy within 5 minutes and it turns out my pupal distance is 65. I call visionworks back and they tell me that number doesn't sound right and they will put a note in my file and have the person I was originally working with call back on Wednesday about the shipping and the PD because they had no idea on either. I am writing this review on Thursday 6 days after I ordered my glasses, still no phone call, I try calling them and it goes to their store, I click on talk to an associate, it puts me on hold and then after 5 minutes sends me to the nationwide customer care (robot) line that says go to the website or call your local branch. After an hour of playing their little game I just hang up. I will keep this updated as it unfolds Long story short, DO NOT SHOP AT VISIONWORKS, ANY LOCATION read more

I didn't want to give them any stars. It was a horrible experience. From start to finish . I filled out the form stating I was there for glasses and contacts. The doctor was rude and condescending. After my exam, I picked out frames. I asked about the contacts, I was told the doctor didn't fit me for contacts. They tried to rectify the situation. I ordered contacts and glasses. I just picked up the glasses. They aren't correct. I was there for approximately 5 minutes, making sure they sat on my face correctly, no concern about whether or not I could actually see out of them. Answer: no I can't. I just wanted to get out of there. I will never go there again . I will let my union know how horrible the experience was. Im out about $115 but will not be trying to get them to fix my glasses because I'm pretty sure they aren't capable. read more

Dishonest employees stay away! When I went in the first thing that I asked, was if my insurance company covered frames? I was told yes by both ladies at the front counter. After I had filled out their paperwork, I had asked a second time as to pick out frames. I was told my insurance company covered frames marked T1 or T2. When I came out from the exam, and sat down with a girl for setting up the glasses. She informed me that NO, my insurance did not cover frames. And pointed out that the lady at the counter hand wrote a note saying exam only covered! read more

Every time I go here, the women working are really snotty, short and overall unknowledgeable. They have never gotten my insurance or co-pay right. Gave it a try because my contact lens prescription had expired and needed more quickly. Mistake. The staff is nice but clearly not properly trained in eye care. My script is correct but they changed the base curve and my eyes are not adjusting well at all. They also never called to say my glasses were in, so I waited a week over when they said they'd be in and finally called myself. They were in and I obviously wasn't in a rush, but it was inconvenient. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more
