She was charismatic, informative, and made me feel so comfortable about what I thought could be a nerve-wracking experience. I knew I wanted Dr. Tooma to perform my surgery since my aunt had her LASIK done with him 28 years ago and has been very happy with her results. Melinda made it easy to schedule my surgery at the Newport Beach NVISION center. The day of surgery was super easygoing...from check-in, my final eye exam and scans, to my 6-minute surgery on both eyes! Everyone at both the Fullerton and Newport Beach centers was so welcoming and comforting. I'm super happy with my results and would definitely recommend NVISION to anyone considering LASIK!

Once my optometrist determined that my cataracts were ready to be surgically removed, she provided me two names of qualified surgeons and having reviewed each surgeon's background & qualifications, I chose to go with Sherri Rowen, MD (NVision) in Newport Beach. To say I was supremely nervous is understating how I felt, and Dr. Rowen calmly answered (more than once, and more than twice) my questions about types of lens implants, the pros and cons of each, and what to realistically expect from each type of lens. Dr. Rowen even responded to my voicemail on a Sunday (which happened to be a serious holiday) and prior to my first surgery reviewed once again the pros and cons of each type of lens. More positive input is that NVision timely communicated with me regarding various aspects and medications (eyedrops) for each of my surgeries/procedures, and even more positive input is that the surgery center where the procedures took place was very easy to find, clean & well organized, with excellent staff who helped make the process much easier than I thought it would be. Post-surgery checks with NVision and my optometrist went well, and post-surgical LASIK touch-ups and YAG procedures with Dr. Rowen went very well. I truly encourage you to consider the well-known phrase, "You get what you pay for," and I'm truly grateful for Dr. Rowen's knowledge, skills, experience, patience, and care.

First off, my wife confirmed they accepted her insurance. Great, right? Except surprise! she later finds out she's being billed for a full exam. Thought it was just her co-pay, nope. Guess that's on her for trusting what they said. Red flag #1. Then came the 40-minute wait after her scheduled time. She finally gets called in, except it's not even Dr. Mai Tang. Instead, some mystery doctor strolls in like a substitute teacher no one asked for. We specifically booked with Mai Tang. Red flag #2. The "exam" itself? A joke. They insisted her eye looked "infected" (mind you, she had just woken up and she mentioned this) and refused to give her a prescription unless she coughed up even more cash for an extra procedure to make sure her eye wasn't infected. Because nothing says "great healthcare" like holding your prescription hostage. Red flag #3. So yeah, glad others had a great experience, but for us? Hard pass. If you like surprise charges, long waits, bait-and-switch doctors, and pressure tactics, this is your spot. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, there are plenty of offices that actually care about their patients and don't treat them like walking dollar signs.

In every instance, we've been absolutely impressed with Dr. Chao's team of professional, knowledgeable, and kind staff members. In 9/2020, I went to get a consultation about Lasik vs. PRK surgery with Dr. Chao. He patiently walked me through the relative advantages of each procedure and which was the right one for me. My PRK procedure (10/2020) was incredibly smooth; some of my friends had less than ideal experiences with other practitioners, but I'm happy to report my procedure and recovery process went perfectly. Dr. Chao and his team did an amazing job of caring for me, carefully explaining what I should expect, and always making me feel like I was being treated with the highest level of expertise. I just came in for my three-month follow-up and could not be happier I decided to work with Dr. Chao. It's rare to find such a wonderful team of medical professionals. I genuinely enjoy coming in to see Dr. Chao! My advice is to listen to the onslaught of five-star reviews (especially those from people who actually work in healthcare) and book an appointment with Dr. Chao's office. Brought my mother in law for a follow up for vision loss experienced due to diabetes. Therefore, she has significant damage on both eyes from personal negligence from a doctor in Mexico. I was able to get an appointment on the same day with Dr. Caleb Ng! This doctor is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain in great detail and also answered the endless questions we had. He was very empathetic and honest with her diagnosis. She unfortunately lost vision completely from one eye (that happened way before here). However, with proper care and if she had came here; this would have been prevented. Needless to say, she got an injection in her other eye which needs treatment to prevent further damage from diabetes. I appreciate Dr. Caleb's honesty, professionalism and knowledge. He was able to communicate in Spanish with my mother in law and she felt more comfortable. Also, if you go on the website; you're able to see information of where he went to school. His experience really reflects his expertise in the field. Will be returning back for treatment.

Found Lenhardt Optometric Group through my health care provider's website. They have very flexible hours and they are super close to my home. The attentioned paid to me was like I was the only patient in the office. I was referred to Lenhardt and so glad that I asked rather than just looking for the nearest place or earliest appointment time. Normally, I would set a time in my schedule and find someone to accommodate me, but that may have well been a big mistake. Service is top notch here. The thing that stood out most to me is that Dr. Mike really took the time to explain things. The office has a boutique feel--great selection of frames, from budget to designer. His front office person, Desiree, makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door. I saw Dr. Dang back then and got the standard set of eye tests, and he found the parameters for my prescription. They have a large selection of frames, and I ended up with a nice pair of Oakleys that I still have to this day. Since I no longer have vision insurance, I have gotten new lenses a few times over the years from Costco. Since I got the frames here, I stop by once every few years when something doesn't feel right, or if the nose pads seem worn. Diane always seems to be at the front desk, and amazingly remembers me every time I walk in the door even though it is pretty infrequent. She is always so friendly and helpful, and adjusts my frames perfectly every time. I really should get a quote for new lenses from them next time, maybe it is not that much of a difference even without insurance. Dr. Dang was great, and Diane is the best. I would recommend Visual Effects Optometry.

Sara is the surgery scheduling coordinator and she's fantastic. Such a sweet young lady, always smiling and cheerfully answering all of our questions. 900 am, October 02, 2025…read more I'm on time. Check in. Fill out paper work. No one ahead of me. Then a few minutes later, a customer comes in and checks in. WTH, she gets taken ahead of me to do her standard testing before me??? Whatever, it's definitely unappreciated, moving on, minus one star. My time's valuable too. I'm assuming that my optician wasn't ready to test yet as she wasn't the same person I observed earlier. Okay, examination time. I did one standard test, then was asked if I want to have the retinal images done for $29! Haha, later talked to Dr. Mike, he said every other year is fine. Maybe I had forgotten that there's a fee for this imaging. We move on to a different room and my periferal vision done the old fashioned way without a machine? It was one of those "how many fingers an I holding up" test. Then we did a pressure test with a tiny hand held tool. A very different experience from the prior year. We did a check of my 2 current glasses, one of them was my photochromic sunglasses. Both of them were very close to each other in prescription. On to the exam with Dr. Mike... Since I declined the retinal imaging, he did the dilation drops. I'm hindsight, I should have asked for the disposable sunglasses. It was so uncomfortable driving on a bright day afterwards, almost unbearable. Or be sure to have extra dark sunglasses in your car. He did the standard lens checking next. We did that, is 1 or 2 better thing with that massive machine in my face. The result was very little change. I guess I'll have to request the prescription electronically as I was not given a print out. Dr. Mike friendly as he's always been. His care is top notch, the best optometrist ever in my opinion. Parking: there's plenty of street parking as this medical office is in a residential neighborhood. However, in the rear of the building, there are a few spaces and one for disabled with a wheel chair ramp up to the back entrance.
