Family been coming here for years. My 15 year old daughter recently got something called OrthoK. We had no idea this technology even existed. It is a hard contact you wear overnight so you don't need glasses or contacts throughout the day. Also, it stops the degenerative effects of what occurs when you wear glasses/contacts. Two months and 3 failed attempts later, I finally had to cancel my glasses order and get a refund. These guys completely wasted my time by having the same pair of glasses remade three times, having me come in and try them on three times, and each time there was either an issue with the lenses or the frames. How hard is it to inspect a pair of glasses for a customer before pickup ESPECIALLY since they already screwed them up twice? No joke, the frames were bent so far out of shape, that the right side sat over an inch further away from my face than the left. Not one single time did I receive an apology. Not once. Not very professional. The place is a mess and disorganized. They didn't stick to the appointment time. They couldn't find my account information despite being there 6 months prior. The prices aren't posted and I was given a higher price when I got there versus what was quoted by phone. I told them so, then they lowered the price. Almost like haggling prices at a flea market or something. Bizarre. To top off the whole experience, when the glasses came in the prescription was wrong. It's like they're trying to be terrible at running this place. I'll never go back again. What a waste of time and money. I find it strange that there aren't many bad reviews for this place. Amazing service and a great selection of frames you won't find elsewhere in Fullerton. Plus if they don't have a specific style you like they can order it for you. In the process of getting my first pair of glasses the optometrist at my eye doctor's had recommended progress lenses for me. Because the eye doctor's didn't have any frames I liked I ordered mine through Sunrise. After a couple of weeks trying of trying to adjust to them I realized the hard way that progressive lenses are not good for computer work where you need to see the whole screen. The optometrist at Sunrise suggested computer specific lenses, gave me a free eye exam to double check my prescription, and swapped out the lenses at no cost (I actually got money back). I'm a first time customer and I got excellent service! I was able to get the glasses that I wanted the way I wanted and they helped me through the whole process. Only part of what I wanted could be covered by insurance and the other part could not. I knew this since I requested the lenses to be cut by the manufacturer because I wanted a proprietary lense. I called their office and they were able to fit me AND my mom in for the next day, and they're open after 6 which is awesome. Dr Kim was very thorough during my exam, and his financial coordinator was awesome and gave my mom and I a great deal. I loved that we weren't pushed to buy the most expensive frame, any up sells on anything. It gets better, I got a text the next day after work that my glasses were ready for pick up! After attempting to replace a right-eye lens with these guys twice, It's become blatantly apparent how this business likes to do the shuffle. The first time I came here for a lens replacement a few years ago, the brand new lens had a small circular scratch in the middle that's clearly visible under bright lights (but not under the moderate lighting inside the store). I pointed it out and they replaced it, but the replacement had the same kind of scratches. At the time I let it go because it wasn't the worst compromise for their cheap prices. Yesterday I scratched my lens so I decided to come here again for a replacement, thinking that surely the previous scratches were just a result of them having a bad week or something. Earlier today the lens came in so I went in for the replacement, but I had not forgotten about the scratches right out the door from a few years ago. This time, when the work was done, I immediately turned on my cellphone flashlight and examined the new lens in front of the staff. This time the scratches could best be described as a HUGE circular patch of reflective lines in the middle (imagine having a gigantic permanent smudge on your glasses). When I showed it to them they stuttered the excuse that "one of their machines isn't working", and that they'll contact me sometime today or tomorrow for a fix-up. About 15 minutes after leaving the place I receive a call from them saying that they're already prepared to work on a replacement lens. Wow, they certainly fixed their broken machine very quickly... right? So I go in, hand them my glasses for another 10-15 minutes, and while waiting I ask the doctor to explain in detail what caused those scratches. He tells me that it's because their "newer machine" is malfunctioning and the anti-reflective coating scratches were caused by their defective "older machine". It still felt strange that they were able to fix their "newer machine" so quickly but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt one last time and waited. To no one's surprise, it had scratches and they were bigger than ever! This time it was HUGE, VERTICAL SCRATCHES DOWN THE MIDDLE. Once again, it's only visible with a bright flashlight or under the sun. Guess what the doctor has to say after being caught red-handed again? "They're not scratches, they're just reflections from nearby cars and stuff". When I asked him that if that means that I can move somewhere farther down the parking lot where there are no cars to "give the illusion of scratches", he immediately said "You know what, I'll give you your money back and you can go somewhere else". Even then as he was refunding me still tried to convince me that they weren't scratches, so I asked him why it only appears on the new lens that they replaced and not on the other lens. His response? "Whatever". When the refund was done processing, I was literally shooed out by the old lady there, who during which kept repeating the phrase "It's okay" as I was shown out the door. Just exactly what did she believe was okay? My conclusion after this disaster of an experience is that they are outright dishonest. 1.) It's obvious they knew from the beginning that the scratches were going to happen due to their defective machine. 2.) Instead of addressing the problem, however, they just hoped that I wouldn't notice, be blindly happy with their low prices, and that they wouldn't have to be held accountable if I noticed after walking out the door. 3.) Their older/newer machine rhetoric was a lie. It's likely that they only have a defective machine but used that excuse to keep me at bay until the other customers left the building so that they can save face. In this context, the old lady's actions at the end makes sense. 4.) To further the last point, them refunding me and telling me to go somewhere else is indicative that they'll do whatever they can to sweep this glaring issue under the rug in the foreseeable future. For anyone who still wants to do business with this place, I recommend that you try the following to prevent yourself from getting screwed over. If you bought lenses from here, simply either shine your cell phone flashlight on the lenses from various angles or walk outside and use the sunlight to possibly uncover scratches that wouldn't be noticeable otherwise. The reflective nature of these scratches is extremely relevant seeing how bright and sunny the weather is in SoCal, so you'll likely notice it sooner or later but by then it might be too late to complain. I hope that for the sake of everyone else who unwittingly comes here that these guys don't continue their deceptive business practices because dealing with all this was a colossal waste of time. read more

Dr. Kim is one of the most honest professionals I have ever met. My family has 4 glasses/contact wearers. Dr. Kim not only takes extraordinary care in making sure he has the best prescription for you (on my initial visits to him he ordered 4 trial contacts to find the one that work best for my special eye condition) but he will literally talk you out of more costly options (he once persuaded us to try a $50 frame for my son who was 7 yo at the time rather the $150 on that was displayed on the stand, and he was the first and only doctor to suggest that I order two different type of contacts due to my eye condition, saving me ~$250 annually). Every time I try to order contact through him, he tells me that for my lens, it is much cheaper to order online, and refuses to take my order. He is truly amazing. read more

My husband had a hard time focusing during his exam and was feeling overwhelmed so Dr. Kim didn't mind essentially doing the exam twice just to make sure that everything was correct. Bryan helped us choose between a variety of frames, he was very helpful and this location has a LOT of frame styles to choose from. We settled on some Oakley's and they were ready for pick up THE NEXT DAY!!!!!! It was unbelievable! I decided to yelp for another Optometrist near me and that's how I found Sunrise Optometry. I showed up on a Saturday morning with my prescription in the hopes of finding a new pair of glasses and just like that within 30 minutes I was in and out of the office. I was provided with great customer service, someone who listened to what I was looking for and gave me options to decide from. I placed my order and was told they would let me know within a week about pick up. I was very pleased with the response I received and the customer service that was provided. Not impressed, paid for a very expensive premium level frame and lenses. With all of my special requests, they hand me a hand scribbled (with cross outs) notepad list of the charges when I requested charge details, very unprofessional. I did feel that it was not a correct list of charges, but went forward anyway and paid the high amount. In the end, I was not very happy with the quality of the very expensive lenses right from the day I received them, and it got worse within a year to the point that I need new glasses now. Let me start off by saying that I have been wearing glasses since the first grade so I am very familiar with optometrists and eye exams. When the time came around to get my eyes checked this year, I searched the internet and of course yelped about it. I decided to give Sunrise Optometry a try this year. PROS: - Plenty of parking in a private lot - Convenient hours with evening and Saturday appointments available - Easy to call and make an appointment CONS: - The doctor was quick...perhaps TOO quick I must have been in and out of there within 10 minutes. He tried to dilate my eyes with drops, but after putting the drops in one eye and a few failed attempts with the other he said that I was protective of my eyeballs and stopped trying. It felt weird driving home with one eye affected. Unlike other doctors, he didn't ask me to read entire lines. Instead he asked me to focus on one letter for the beloved "this one or that one" a couple times before writing the new prescription I will have for the next two years. - The "great selection" of frames all look the same I went in with an idea of the kind of frame that would flatter my face but my options were very limited for round and cat-eyed frames.
