Dr Choi is amazing. He is able to handle the whole family and his equipment is more high-tech than our previous optometrist office. I checked out Eye Tech bc it was close to my house & I saw good reviews for the most part and decided to give it a try. My experience last year was very good. The optometrist was nice & professional & I felt he asked the right questions and examined everything. The girl in the front was nice and friendly. David (I think the manager) was nice & friendly as well and was very good at finding out about my insurance plan. He explained what my options were and gave me prices I thought were reasonable. I recently had my husband check out Eye Tech for his annual exam and glasses and he got the same treatment and experience I did. CASH CUSTOMER / ORTHO K / MYOPIA ********************************** Keep in mind, Ortho K is very expensive. And I'm generally pretty reluctant on spending ridiculous amounts of money but my daughter is young and was only seeing up to row 3 or 4 on the chart. We started with glasses for the first time ever last year. But my kid was still complaining about not being able to see completely. Granted this was done on purpose because the prescription was strong and we put a lesser prescription in the glasses to get accustomed to wearing them. She was SO adorable in her glasses but that was a short lived saga as we then had a consultation on fixing her Myopia for nearsightedness. Getting into Ortho k involves many many visits for vision tests. But we finally got the prescription down and she's seeing 20/20!! This means she can see up to rows 9/10 on the eye chart which is better than 20/20 vision since 20/20 lands on row 8. read more

Outstanding service, staff, and facilities! I had a telehealth exam done through my insurance company, and was instructed to get an eye exam immediately for a possible detached retina. We are under the stay-at-home order at this time, so I was hesitant to go in for an appointment, but I was told it was urgent as my vision could be at risk. I contacted Eye Tech by email, and received an appointment right away. When I arrived, a staff member met me at the door and took my information. Everyone was wearing protective equipment, and I was impressed by the attention to detail wiping down contact surfaces and protecting against possible contamination, making me feel much more relaxed about the appointment. The lobby waiting area is immaculate, spacious, and very stylish. I felt like I was walking into a high-end hotel. Except this was even cleaner! There was no waiting, and I got a few preliminary tests done immediately. It's amazing how clean the equipment is kept. Everything looks brand new, like it just arrived from the factory. The tests were done quickly and professionally without problems. I noticed the staff thoroughly wiping down the equipment immediately after I was tested. Dr. Choi saw me right away after initial testing. He took my history personally, and conducted the exam with great care to making it comfortable. My eyes are usually pretty sensitive to being examined, but Dr. Choi made it a breeze! He discussed his findings immediately with me, and it was a great relief to know the condition was nothing serious. He showed me the digital photographs of my eyes and answered all of my questions in easy-to-understand language. I've recently moved back to the area and decided to get new glasses for the first time in 3 years. I've always driven by this place when I was nearby but didn't realize they had such high reviews. The last place I visited with high reviews took about 3 weeks for my contacts order so I decided to try a new place. I like the place. Quick, efficient, and generally nice, patient folks working. Clean, plenty of glasses options, and I really appreciate that they thoroughly explained my benefits and the billing. They're extremely accommodating and my they had my lenses in stock so my glasses were ready within a couple hours! Amazing! However, I am knocking off a star because when I called to make an appointment, I asked for what my insurance was covered for both the glasses option and contacts for MY knowledge before making an appointment. Not once did they ask me if I wanted contacts or glasses appointment and when I arrived for my appointment, the gentleman made it a big deal that I only wanted to get glasses and rushed me to make a choice. I didn't change my mind, I was never asked what I wanted? But overall good experience, will come back next year. read more

She would not look up my insurance and insisted that the level of insurance coverage was "my responsibility." I wasn't able to go to my regular optometrist that I've seen for over 10 years due to work, time, and the pandemic. I yelped optometrists in my area and found one I hoped would be a good fit for me. I read the yelp descriptions and saw it was appointment only. So I called and was able to get in that same day (called early, came in at 2pm). That was awesome. Before entering, I was greeted by an employee making sure I had an appointment, temp check, and gave me a squirt of hand sanitizer. Let me enter, then locked the door behind me to keep the amount of people down. I think there were only 3 other individuals (other than workers) in there at one time. All workers and patients were required to have face masks. Bravo guys nice work so far! It wasn't even 5 minutes before I was called to start my appointment. I was there for an eye exam and a pair of new glasses. They accepted VSP which is what I got. We stared on an apparatus that u put ur chin on this thing, then lean your forehead on to a pad, and look through these look through some holes into a box with an image. He asked some questions, I answered. it seemed like a good test and he gave good directions. I didn't notice if the equipment was sanitized before I was called up. It would have been more reassuring to see it done before I was asked to put my face on it, but I understand there is a "wet time"; time needed for the disinfectant to properly do it's thing. It's usually about 2-3 minutes from the products I'm familiar with. It wasn't immediately wiped down after I was done, but I did hear someone ask if it's been cleaned, and some did wipe it down before the next patient was called to the equipment. After that I was asked to wait for the next part of the exam. In less than 10mins, I met Dr Choi. Nice guy. We did the exam where I tried different lenses to dial in my vision, he put something in my eyes and looked into them to exam the health of my eyes. Took a couple pictures of them. And I also did the test for pressure, where the air get puffed onto you eye. Seemed through. Dr also asked me a bunch of questions pertaining to things about my health, habits, and history that may affect my vision/eyes. Then ended with a summary of what he saw and interpreted his findings. The experience also went very well. Professional & friendly. I got my Rx and an employee walked my through what my VSP covered and what my option were. I ended up upgrading the lens, adding transitions, an upgraded anti glare/scratch coating and I picked out a pair of frames that were almost covered by VSP. In the end I fished out 425 bucks after taxes for the eye exam and the glasses I ended up choosing. Most of that money was the upgraded parts of the lens. Glasses are sent out and I'm told it'll be about 2 weeks to pick them up. I was also given my Rx printed on paper to take with me. So far it was a great experience! You can tell they really take this pandemic seriously. And I think it was a very organized, not just the layout of the office but the staff also. They were pretty on it the whole time I was there. Another thing, I didn't mention, but it all went along pretty quickly. I didn't feel rushed at all, but it went efficiently. I'd definitely recommend this place, especially if you are in a higher risk group. First Off, I read all the Yelp Reviews and thought that my experience too will bring me the same offering... However, I had a different twist of story. Basically, I know that in fact, glasses are expensive in general. We are not poor, but glasses are expensive so I was calling around places and... So, I called and spoke with two of the assistants from this optometry and was told that there would be a $100 package for a $20 dollar fee for the eye exam, $40 for the lenses and $40 for frames. So we thought, wow that's just an awesome deal, I knew that the glasses won't be name brand, but it's still a good deal nonetheless. Well, when we got there... they were showing us all the glasses in the store, although we thought it was weird that the quality of glasses were really expensive, we thought oh those glasses are the deals that they were speaking about because we came in and told them we had an appointment with them... shortly after, we were called in for the eye exam. Then after we came out to pick glasses that they were initially showing us which were all the high priced, which of course were fancy, but those glasses were not the package they were speaking about initially.. Each glasses ranged from $200 to even $500+. Which is a given off course. So, we asked if these glasses were the same glasses that they'll be offering in the package... and their faces turned and frowned upon us.. and went to just a small cabinet with the glasses that fit the package. So after we picked through the glasses that matched the package of $100 deal, The assistant told us that since the lens we'll have to get is a bifocal/progressive, we will be charged an additional $40-200+ just for the lens itself. Basically, I understand that they have to sell the items to make profit for the company as well as to make money as employees. However, I do not see the point where they should "LIE" to the customer in the beginning of a visit by suggesting that they'll offer a great deal of $100. I believe they should have been much more professional, by stating that although the package can be $100, it can be much more expensive if we add certain products and etc. So in the end, even though we got a descent deal of paying approximately $140~ for the entire visit, I really dis-liked this place bc people that deceive you, only to bring you in and then in the end they'll keep lying and say that they never said that they'll be giving a $100 package deal. The assistant actually suggested that it was for a "STUDENT PACKAGE" when I spoke with him stating that this visit was for my "PARENTS." Please DO NOT be deceived by all these Kind Comments that these people have provided. TIP: If you want to go to this Optometry then I suggest that you only get the Eye Exam with the Optometrist ($50 fee for visit itself). read more

Came in since my insurance changed and my daughter really needed an exam. The place has plenty of parking out front but it is in a busy shopping center. It has windows all around which they make the place look open and bright. I walked in and was greeted and the staff quickly checked me in. I will say though they did not review charges prior to starting so if you want to know what you will pay beforehand you have to ask, I didn't ask and I honestly didn't mind since I knew my co-pay amounts beforehand. The exam was very through and the doctor took the time to explain and give me options for my dry eye symptoms. I felt very comfortable and my daughter was happy as the exam was slow enough for her to make her choices and decide what worked best for her. The frame selection is great, they have some really nice high end brand items as well as affordable options. Only Negative- I was told it would take about 3-7 days and they would call me but they did not. I called on day 7 and was told my glasses were ready since the week prior, only 2 days after my appointment. I was told they left a voicemail but I had no call from them at all. I really needed the glasses since my daughter was having trouble seeing during class, I was surprised that they didn't follow up. read more

Awesome experience with Eye Tech. I dropped by on my day off to look at eyeglasses. I'm super picky and have been searching for months for frames I could live with (even though they are my back up glasses). Tons of selection to choose from and the guy who serves the front was wonderfully helpful and patient. He looked around the whole store twice picking out frame options that matched my criteria. Finally I found a pair that I adore after trying on almost two dozen options. Since I don't have vision coverage I was relying on my HSA, which had a very limited amount that wasn't going to cover both lenses and frames anywhere else. The frames were so reasonably priced ($115) and he was able to get the 2nd from top tier lenses ($200) and even knocked off a bit to get me right on my budget. And they were super nice when I came by a bit before they opened on a Saturday so i could grab my new frames before rushing to work. Going inside this clinic you will notice right away how clean it is. You are then greeted by friendly employees. Check-in was really fast, information is put into an ipad. Pictures were taken of my eyes and is evaluated by Dr. Choi. He then does a thorough history since I am a new client. I am quite impressed that this clinic do not just take you in for your money. I wanted multifocal rigid contacts. Dr. Choi eventually came up with a solution for my contact lens issues and gave me his professional "tips" for free. I ended up only paying for a regular eye exam at a minimum cost. I highly recommend this clinic for your eye care needs. Thank you Dr. Choi and staff. Me and my husband went to this place after reviewing Yelp.. I have my vision insurance, I still had to pay $410 (mine $295, my husband's $115). They charged each single thing, the guy helped us sounds like he was giving us a huge discount. After my friend who has a same insurance told me that she paid $100 total at her optometry place, I feel like I was ripped off. We had to wait more than 2 weeks, went back again for re- exam. My husband and I went to Eye Tech to get eye exams + contacts + glasses. Making an appointment was very easy and they were flexible with us when we were running late. Dr. Choi was very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease during the exam. He explained the procedures and answered all the different questions I had. He was also very patient with my husband who has a very complicated diagnosis. The employee at the front was also very helpful. He was able to pull up my insurance plan without my insurance card and explained all the benefits that came with the plan. He even explained the different offerings other eye insurance plans had which helped me make an informed decision when open enrollment came around. Dr. Choi and his staff are kind and I had a pleasant experience here. What I liked the most was that they offer cheaper plastic glasses that fit Asian faces. I'm still in denial about having to wear glasses so I usually only wear them when reading. And for that reason I don't like to buy expensive glasses and I didn't need to here. First of all I just want to be clear that this review isnt for the doctor but for the staff. Literally the worst experience ever. I too saw these yelp reviews and thought eyetech would be a good place to get my sunglasses adjusted and perhaps get a new comprehensive eye exam. Instead I get the most condescending, rude man who had no interest in helping me. He kept giving the feel that i was trying to freeload off of the office. It was to the point where i had to say "ajjushi (word for man in korean) dont worry ill pay to get them adjusted". Mind you these sunglasses were new so its not like they had a problem or anything they simply needed to be adjusted to my face and I couldnt go to the optometry I got them from because I got them from all the way in San Diego. In the end he refused to adjust them and shooed me away. So i went across the street and found much better service as well as an exam. Anyways, I dont know if he was just having a bad day and releasing it on customers but I was seriously offended. Long story short, if you arnt looking to spend hundreds of dollars at this store dont come in because they are going to treat you like freeloaders who are invading their precious space. read more

I think this is my first review for a service provider. Well, my vision was getting pretty bad. Usually, I would go to Costco to get contact lens exam, but due to the circumstances, I figured it would be best to see a professional. I made my appointment a few weeks ago and it was easy to do. My wife had been to Eye Tech previously, and said she had a great experience. My appointment was for Friday, July 14th. When I first walked into Eye Tech, I was beginning to think I was at a spa. The place was beautiful! It wasn't stuffy or sterile looking like other Optometrists office's I had been to in the past. A step up from Costco for sure. Dr. Choi did my eye exam. At Costco, I would have been in and out in 10 to 15 minutes. My exam with Dr. Choi lasted about an hour and was very thorough. After the exam was over, he explained my options. He also fitted me for new contact lenses and glasses. I left Eye Tech feeling confident in Dr.Choi and that I got the best service possible. read more

I have went to Eye Tech as well as my children for a few years. Normally we are pleased with every aspect of the service. However after today I will never go back. My daughter was getting an eye exam done prior to seeing the doctor. I assume the guy doing the test was an assistant of some sort. While doing the last test in my 11 year old in a small space, he pulled off his mask and coughed twice. He said he sneezed, I said it was more of a cough. Either way within 7 mins of us being there he pulled his mask down and sprayed his droplets all over this little space with my kid in there. Prior to entering I had already witness the woman at the front desk couching with no mask. She did put one on prior to us walking in however. I spoke to the doctor on staff and he said that he would retrain his staff more seriously. I don't get that however because shouldn't they have already been trained, they are at work helping the public. Shouldn't they already k ow to keep there mask On and not to cough or sneeze in the same room with a patient. We walked out and left, we will never go back. I'm knocking off one star because we had to call our insurance and another for asking for authentication for lasiks when the info was provided on the insurance website. They "require" a doctor's note? Never heard of that before. I'm knocking another star for somewhat rude costumer service we received and the extremely high mark up on their products. They do have really good high end selections and there is one tall gentleman who is super sweet. I didn't get my eye exam there because I didn't need prescriptions on my products. The prices for glasses and contacts here are really pricey and they kept raising their prices. I had to call multiple times because the person I spoke to, David the manager, guaranteed me shipping dates but when I never received any contacts and called back, David notified me that he never shipped them. And this happened TWICE for the same order. The one star review isn't only because of how unorganized this place is but also because David was very unapologetic and made it seem like it was my own fault that the contacts were never shipped. His tone of voice especially wasn't helping either. I ended up just asking for a refund. I read the other reviews and it's disappointing that other have had similar issues as me. I am the worst, WORST when it comes to glasses & contacts. As grody as it sounds & is, I'm the type that will sleep in my contacts, never rub when cleaning and will wear them till my vision has become blurred & fuzzy because they are so old. Yes, I am disgusting. Anyways, I was a bit apprehensive about coming to Eye Tech after moving from Cerritos because I had grown loyalty towards my former optometrist Esther Ahn. And for me, loyalty is everything, except for hair stylists apparently. My mom came here with my sister so that they could get new glasses and contacts, looking at the selection I was pretty impressed with all the designer options they carried as well as the kinds that are covered by health insurance. So when it was time to finally get rid off my fuzzy old contacts, I decided to come here which was a 5 minute drive from home compared to the 30 mins (local) for my old place. I walked in with no appointment and was able to be seen by their optometrist, I forgot his name, but he was nice to look at. ^^ Originally my prescription was -1.75 with astigmatism, after thorough testing the doctor told me my eyes had gotten better.. -1.50! And he also told me I had very mild astigmatism that didn't really require me to wear special contacts for it. With that said he sent me home with two pairs of -1.50 prescription lenses, one pair for astigmatism and the other for regular eyes. That's where things went downhill. With two brand new sets of contacts to test out they didn't hear from me or see me for 3 months! I was out and about wearing my test pairs till they got blurry again... And once they got blurry/fuzzy I eventually called and filled my order only to be picked up 2 weeks later. :P What I appreciated though was that they didn't bombard me with phone calls and voicemails about my order as well as not being poopy pants/passive aggressive with me when I went to pick up my stuff. As for glasses, man my glasses take a beating. I toss them around with smudges all over the lenses with the occasional misplacing of them. However, there are times when I do have to step out of the house wearing my glasses, usually after a night of petting my cat and forgetting to wash my hands only to wake up to watery Quasimodo eyes. However, just because I don't really take care of my glasses doesn't mean I don't want to look cute in them, and honestly my old pair was HELLA butch. Not like cute Woody Allen butch cute... no like steel worker butch. Knowing how I am with glasses I didn't want to drop couple hundred for a frames that would only end up in the same fate as all my other glasses so I opted to just get the insurance covered ones. For cheap glasses the choices were numerous and they fit so comfortably on my face, like clouds on my nose bridge. What can I say? They're made in S. Korea! WOOT WOOT!
