First off, my wife confirmed they accepted her insurance. Great, right? Except surprise! she later finds out she's being billed for a full exam. Thought it was just her co-pay, nope. Guess that's on her for trusting what they said. Red flag #1. Then came the 40-minute wait after her scheduled time. She finally gets called in, except it's not even Dr. Mai Tang. Instead, some mystery doctor strolls in like a substitute teacher no one asked for. We specifically booked with Mai Tang. Red flag #2. The "exam" itself? A joke. They insisted her eye looked "infected" (mind you, she had just woken up and she mentioned this) and refused to give her a prescription unless she coughed up even more cash for an extra procedure to make sure her eye wasn't infected. Because nothing says "great healthcare" like holding your prescription hostage. Red flag #3. So yeah, glad others had a great experience, but for us? Hard pass. If you like surprise charges, long waits, bait-and-switch doctors, and pressure tactics, this is your spot. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere, there are plenty of offices that actually care about their patients and don't treat them like walking dollar signs.

From the initial first call to make my appt as a new customer Ariel is extremely friendly she helped set my appt and explained the process and answered all of my questions she worked with me on setting the perfect appt time and day and such a friendly voice that made me feel comfortable and important (I hate to say this but I did not have the same experience when calling my first referral the office owned by a couple near northgate market, they didn't call me back when I left a msg the phone rang and rang and finally I reached a lady who kind of made me feel unimportant I'm so glad I didn't go with those guys ) I 100% had such an amazing experience at La Habra Hills Optometry. Ariel was helpful, professional, friendly, patient and knowledgeable. When we pulled up to the location in was an older building but once we opened the door to our wow surprise it was a very nice and professional and modern. Ariel was there to great us. She gave me my forms to fill out which I was so thrilled that the forms were easy to fill out and they were laminated and was able to use a dry eraser marker so they save paper I love trees and that was so cool to me the office was so clean and comfortable. My wait wasn't long and Ariel guided me and did my eye exam she had it set up from one station to the next she guided me and made me feel comfortable she was very experienced and so gentle and directive in a kind and professional way. She is such a gentle soul she had a very cool yoda face mask and very cool glasses. She took me thru 3 eye exams she even did a cool blood pressure on my wrist instead of my arm bcus I told her that the one on my arm makes me panic she was so nice. She directed how to put my face on the machine and even the machine that blows air blew so soft and fast it didn't hurt at all. I really enjoyed my eye exam and how Ariel made it so easy and comfortable. Then I went into another room to wait for the dr but I had to go use the restroom Ariel was so nice about it and gave great directions it was right outside the door and it was very clean. When I got back the dr was ready in 5 mins to see me she was very kind quiet and gentle I was scared bcus I knew It had been really needed for me to get glasses after many years. The dr said my eyes look healthy there is nothing behind them or any damage she suggested a physical with my dr to check my blood pressure and for diabetes etc bcus she noticed I hadn't had an appt in a long time besides that she just said that I'm near sided she put the lens googles and helped check each eye and how well I can see. After that I went straight to the front glasses area and Ariel had all of the glasses displayed for me she helped me with chosing what is the most modern and which looks great on me she allowed my bf to come in and help decide too that was so nice. I ended up picking the glasses that she first suggested they really look so cool on me :) so excited also, I opted to get the bifocal n she said she'd make it low for me so it wouldn't be to noticeable and look more chic yes I mean she is so cool :) then she measured my eye distance and face distance to fit perfect she explained the time it would take and she was so Informative modern sweet and super clean she made sure to social distance and sanitize everything. I was so so so satisfied I didn't leave with any unanswered questions :) also, I called her and asked her to send me my rx so I could have it on file. I was so happy to see it in my inbox already by the time I checked my email. I mean how could u not love this place I'm excited to get my new glasses oh and the retinal test does a covid19 text and I'm all clear yaaay. Can't wait til I can get my glasses and be able to drive at night again. I'm so happy seriously I'd give them 10 stars or more very very very satisfied and really was treated extremely well and treated important and special. Clara and Erika are the best caretakers I've met, they are always ready to help you with any recommendations, help mend or repair my corrected lens if needed. They even sent out a pair of Versace sunglasses to have one lens replaced for me so I didn't have to buy a new pair at $475.00, repaired and cleaned for $50.00 Please give Michael L Byrne , O.D. and his staff a try, they proved to me that " the grass is greener on the other side".

There was a miscommunication with my contact lenses that left me unable to receive them for about two to three months. Luckily I had enough supply to get by. David was instrumental in resolving the issue, which stemmed from my vision benefits. He followed up diligently and handled everything with professionalism and persistence. I used to make the drive here even after I moved because I've been going to Dr Yoon for almost two decades now & love her. However, along with recent incidents due to some change in management, my trip today was really appalling. Let's start with January when I scheduled my annual exam, I came in & noticed the place looked really disorganized & saw some new employees. This man asked me how he could help & I let him know that I had an appointment. He proceeded to tell me that I was early for my annual exam since I was just here 6 months ago in May. I had never had an issue of booking my appointments before the one year mark & was wondering why I wasn't given a phone call then before I came in if this was a problem. I let him that it's been 8 months technically & if it was a problem and he proceeded to say no. Then along with looking disorganized & the busiest I've ever seen them, I noticed a different optometrist then Dr Yoon & asked if she retired & was told she had semi-retired & only came twice a week so I asked to reschedule based off of everything. I saw another lady write in a calendar book my new appointment for March. I showed up for my appointment in March & made the drive again to get told they don't see my appointment. Don't know how that happened because I saw her write it in their calendar on that day the time slot I was coming. Dr Yoon graciously still saw me & along with contacts I ordered some new glasses. Typically my glasses & contacts come within 2 weeks.. max 3 & I usually get a call when it's ready & I get told if only one is ready & given the option to wait til both are ready. They have this new generic texting system where it said my glasses and/or contacts are ready & so my bad.. I get it says "or" but you would think that if only one was ready, they'd let me know. So I leave work early today to go pick them up, just to be told only my glasses are ready. The same guy from the January visit shows me my glasses... & I'm not quite sure they're mine because they look different from what I remember. These today had this distinct mark at the ends that are pretty noticeable that I don't recall seeing the last time. When I mention me not being sure this is what I ordered, he proceeds to do this condescending laugh saying it is what I ordered. Not sure what was so funny but I didn't say anything the first time but as we are still discussing this manner, he proceeded to laugh again & so I had to ask "what is so funny about this situation right now?" That's when a younger girl who worked there stepped in & was very professional, sweet & tried to make the matter right. While she was working with me, he tried to jump into our convo & to be frank, I told him I didn't want to talk to him. Normally in a situation like this, you would think as an employee, he would give me my space but he proceeded to say to me "I don't want to talk to you either". I wish I was making this up. Then when I proceeded to make a comment about his laugh being unnecessary in this situation, he said "should I have cried then?" in Korean. That comment is not only incredibly inappropriate & rude but it does acknowledge that he indeed was laughing. I was in shock that this is how a business talks to their customers & so I had to say my piece to him about how he was talking to me. I ended up talking to the new manager because Dr Yoon wasn't there but it seems like these two guys are friends because he didn't even care to hear everything about what happened & was abrupt with basically saying "there's no way we could have gotten your glasses mixed up. You could have just read his laugh the wrong way. How do you want us to fix the glasses? Do you want to just replace them" along with the most half-*ssed apology. I even told him that last time I came I heard another lady say that her glass order was wrong and he said it could be her not remembering due to her old age & it was me not remembering maybe due to it being almost a month ago. Like holy cow...so long story long.. i knew there was no point in getting into it with this guy about my feedback expecting anything to change. I ended up just talking to the younger girl again & my hands were even shaking when I was writing my address down because I was in such shock & had so much anger over what happened. She was sweet enough to offer to personally deliver my contacts but I declined since I know it's a long drive for her. I kept the glasses because I don't want to deal with this place any longer & feel very uncomfortable with that man. I planned on still coming here until Dr Yoon retired but I won't be back. Please please STAY FAR AWAY from this place..
