As usual John is amazing and always comes through! He is always awesome at needs that you ask for and goes above and beyond, even if it's A frame from 5 years ago! His office is super calm nice and I love his hand sanitizers and the disco light in the bathroom! John is relatable and always fun to talk to, I feel like I always talk his ear off because we have a lot in common! Excellent yearly appt. as usual. Dr. Nguyen is professional yet personable. Husband and I enjoy going to our appts. If you have a problem with your eyes or contact lenses etc. he makes suggestions to improve your quality of vision and comfort. Last visit we decided on daily wear contact lenses instead of monthly wear and this has worked out great. read more

I don't have medical insurance and I had tried going to other places to get my prescription, none of them did me justice for the price I payed. I've been coming to Caring Eyes Optometry for over three years now and I'm ashamed that it took this long to write a review. It's so quick and easy to write a review, but life happens and *insert all my excuses*. Sometimes it takes a very long time to find a health care provider that you feel comfortable with... but I have stopped my search for my optometrist since my first appointment. I can't sing enough praises for Dr. John Nguyen. I've honestly never met anybody who is more caring and genuinely nice -- in all the years I've have seen an optometrist or any physician for that matter. His patience is unreal because I'm the type of patient that needs to see choice #1 & #2 repeated many times before my brain and eyes can decipher what looks more clear. Any other optometrist I have seen usually loses their patience after the third time, but Dr. Nguyen is always patient and allows me the time I need to think and respond to the answer. The customer service is phenomenal too. The phone is always professionally answered or if I leave a voicemail I will get a prompt call back or email reply. (At my previous optometrist office, I always felt uncomfortable talking to the receptionist because they either seemed annoyed with benefits questions or there was a communication barrier.) From the beginning Dr. Nguyen clearly explained the cost of an eye exam and contacted my insurance & the breakdown was consistent when I came for my exam and fitting. (I don't know if you've ever had a bad experience at an optometrist office where you have to show them your explanation of benefits line by line & your insurance provider for support to get your benefits as stated on your account, but you won't get that here.) I feel really comfortable coming here as a patient and zero hesitation asking questions and communicating my needs. Dr. Nguyen was even kind enough to give me his advice on a few general eye health questions that have come up over the years so I could be informed when following up with my Primary Care Provider. When the COVID pandemic was at its worst, I ran out of contacts and was a little hesitant to go into the office for an exam. Dr. Nguyen gave me several options for my eye care, patiently explained CEO's COVID screening/sanitizing protocols when I inquired, and allowed me all the time I needed to be comfortable with going in. What else can I say other than I will be coming back & it's worth the commute even if I eventually move and need to trek out to Fullerton? :) read more

Dr. Nguyen is a god send ! Took both my dad and mom and they both won't stop talking into about how welcoming he was. My dad doesn't speak much English and somehow he figured out how to give my Dad a great Experience. Dr. Nguyen also managed to diagnose my mom with some Issues in her right eye that the many other optometrist I've taken her too never mentioned once! Located in the area with Archery Outpost and right next to the post office. I've never had such superb experience at an optometry before. Most of the optometry I go to just check my eyes and let me browse around, but here Dr. Nguyen and his assistants are very informative and helpful! They walk you through everything and answer all your questions before you even ask! Dr. Nguyen and his assistants take their time to show you the different kinds of frames that specifically fit you. I NEVER KNEW there was such a right "FIT" until I came here. I've got these super cute pairs of rayban's clubmasters (eyeglass + sunglasses), but the nose pads.. kinda bug because they leave marks on my face, but STILL love them. I recently lost my eyeglasses and I NEED MY GLASSES! So I call Dr. Nguyen up and said, I need to get new glasses and I knew which one I wanted because this was my other choice from when I got my raybans. It's the COACH Alternative Fit one. He said "We'll get them done right away!" because he got all my information in file from the last time & he'll give me a call when it's ready. They have these "Alternative Fit" frames for us asians with no nose bridges! I mean, it's not made for just asians.. but most of us fall in that category. I think it's amazing because before my glasses would always slide off my face, but with these cute Coach AF frames I got recently... I'm in love and they are perfect on my face! Great selection of designer and insurance covered frames! Both men & women. They also have a lot of cute kids frame as well. Speaking of kids, they have a kid's toy playing area in the waiting room and children-appropriate movies showing on the TV, which is nice. There's kids toys because he has two little adorable girls himself! :D The time to get my glasses was extremely quick. It took about a week! Dr. Nguyen also sends out Thank You notes after your visit, which is very nice and thoughtful. Shows that he appreciates his patients. Also, the Dr's voice sounds like those love song dedication soothing voice, on KOST 103.5 hahah. How pleasant. read more

I was so happy to have come here! A friend recommended Dr.Nguyen to me as he has been her family's optometrist for years. It was a great experience, he is very sweet and helpful. I was able to pick a new pair of glasses that same day as we did decide to change my prescription a bit. He had a large selection of glasses to choose from and once he knew purple was my favorite color he helped me find all the purple and purplish options he had! I got a call within about 1.5 weeks that my glasses were ready, was able to schedule a pick up appt for the very next day. He made sure I was able to read well and also adjusted them to fit my head a bit more snug but still comfortable. Overall very happy and recommend to anyone looking for a new optometrist! Each time I went it was literally just him there, so leave a voicemail if there is no answer when you call and he does reach back out to you fairly quickly. read more

Found Caring Eyes thru Yelp ... But will be a loyal customer due to Dr. Nguyen superb customer service. He does a great job with the eye exam, takes his time so you never feel rushed. He answers all your questions very patiently, and overall seems to really care about you as a person. I think I tried on every single frame there before finally choosing one ... Haha ... Look up indecisive in the dictionary and you will see a picture of me :) But he didn't mind at all ... He just wanted to make sure I would be happy with my glasses at the end of the day. I avoid them like the plague because most of the time, they're not interested, pre-occupied and/or not sincere. Not so with Dr. Nguyen; I actually enjoy interacting with him. He's sincere and polite and that goes a long way with me. Dr. Nguyen genuinely cares about me and my well being and is also an excellent optometrist. I had a rather painful irritation with my current contact lens prescription. I've always dreaded going to the dentist AND the optometrists, but this place makes me feel at ease with everything that they do. I hadn't gotten my prescription checked in years so I was well overdue for one. Dr. Nguyen and his staff made me feel super comfortable with the eye exam and explained everything to me thoroughly. Not to mention, they answered all the questions I had and boy did I have a lot of questions. Excellent and friendly customer service, I'm use to getting bad service at the different optometrists in Westminster, where they are always trying to oversell stuff to you, but the staff are not pushy here. They really do care for your eyes! On another day, I bought glasses online and wanted to double check if the prescriptions were made correctly with Dr. Nguyen. It was a strange request on my part, but Dr. Nguyen happily checked for me free of charge. Lo and behold, the prescription was off, but just by a little bit. Dr. Nguyen wrote the prescription that were on the glasses for me and told me that though they were off, they were still wearable since they were only off a bit. It was super nice of him to go out of his way to check for me! I have yet to purchase any glasses from here, but on my next visit I probably will. This is definitely becoming my go to optometry. ***My visits were in January of this year, but I really wanted to make sure I wrote a review because this place deserves it! read more

Ok I want to start off by saying that the staff here was really nice, polite, followed up with me and the optometrist seems very knowledgable. I just didn't care for this place though cause everything is soo old and run down. Its located in a really old building and the equipment and stuff in this place is really old too. Amazing visit with the dr. He is definitely a caring family guy that takes pride in his work. He treated me with respect, shared my options, and didn't push products, or services. With my copay, exam was affordable as were my lenses. I already had frames I wanted to use, I got at a designer show. If you Bri f your own frames, naturally insurance won't cover the cost of the frame, as it isn't their property. It was the quickest and most efficient eye exam I've ever been to. So glad I have health insurance, and that they took it painlessly and easily on their behalf. Amazing service from Nguyen and staff. This was our family first visit to Dr. Nguyen's Caring Eye Center. We found him on Yelp. Like other Yelp reviewers, we agreed that Dr. Nguyen was calm, collected, and down to earth. Dr. Nguyen is very patient and caring, from start to finish. We have dual vision insurances, so he worked with us in maximizing our benefits. So, we appreciated for the money saving gesture. My husband and I were happy with our brand name progressive glasses, that we would not have otherwise received from our usual Costco glasses. Our girls wanted to try contact lenses, and Dr. Nguyen was very thorough in teaching them how to fit the disposable contact lenses from start to finish. They also wanted glasses, but weren't able to find ones to their liking. So, they returned to Costco to find theirs, using Dr. Nguyen's prescription. Maybe if the girls only needed glasses, they would have been able to get upgraded glasses with the dual insurances in the future. I've worn contact lenses for seven years and have hopped around to my share of optometrists and ophthalmologists and I have to say that Dr. Nguyen's office rocks. I had my first appointment yesterday -- a general exam and contact lens fitting. The service is extremely personal and friendly. When I called to make the appointment, it was Dr. N himself who answered and made the appointment for a morning that same week. The eye exam was very thorough, which is important to me as someone with a family history of eye problems. When I arrived for the exam, Dr. N himself took me through the routine tests -- checking peripheral vision, pressure in the eye, etc. -- explaining everything along the way. After the contact lens exam, he dilated my eyes to check for all those bad things like macular degeneration or little tears on the eye, etc. that are hard to detect without dilation. He did end up noticing that my eyeballs were being suffocated by my contact lens wearing, and gave me some options to help my poor eyes breathe. Though I hate wearing glasses, I was grateful that he cared enough to keep my eyes healthy and gave me more than one option to make sure I would actually follow through. The general exam, plus contact exam was very reasonable at $134, and my 20% discount from Blue Shield made it even easier on my wallet. read more

I hadn't had my eyes checked in over a year, I called in on a Saturday and to my surprise, I received an appointment the same day. I had never received such a thorough examination. Dr. Nguyen went in depth about my eyes, my astigmatism, and all my questions/concerns. Dr Vu was very friendly and they were both very helpful when it came to picking out my glasses. My eye exam consisted of about 6 or seven different test. The doctor explained to me what each test did and why it would be beneficial to go through with each one. No one ever looked into my astigmatism and balance so much. I felt well informed and confident of my decision to go to this location within the first few tests. Of course, I had seen other reviews and even heard from my girlfriend about cheaper optometrists in the Garden Grove/Westminster area, but after finding this small office in Fullerton I have no problem having Dr. Nguyen become my regular optometrist. The price wasn't as low as I had hoped but I don't mind supporting independent businesses who genuinely care for their customers and perform in such a professional and friendly manner. The glasses selection here fit my needs and I was able to find stylish glasses and even name brands to fit my huge head =). For once, I'm actually looking forward to receiving my glasses after such an outstanding examination. read more
