I was referred to NVISION by my optometrist when discussing LASIK surgery, and was lucky enough to have a location that was just a quick drive from my house. I was very nervous and a little unsure about going forward with LASIK when I was first referred, but thanks to the staff at NVISION, my experience from start to finish was smooth and easy. After being referred, NVISION Fullerton reached out to me and quickly set up a free consultation. During this they tested my eyes, answered any questions I had, and determined if LASIK was a good option for me. I really appreciated how upfront and honest they were the entire time, and the friendliness of the entire staff made me feel comfortable trusting them with my eyesight. I was quoted around $6000 for my surgery (you do pay a $250 deposit upon booking your surgery date) and financing options through CareCredit are available. I did opt for their Contoura LASIK procedure which was extra, so your price may vary depending on what you choose. I felt it was worth it to go all out for my vision, but I appreciate that the staff did not actively try to upsell me on the procedure. In fact, they even mentioned that if at any point before the surgery, the doctor decided Contoura wouldn't benefit me, they would let me know and go through with a standard procedure. I want to thank Stephanie specifically for helping me out so much during this entire process. She answered so many of my questions, went over financing options, and assisted in arranging my surgery dates. On top of this, she would send reminders as my surgery date approached, and created a plan for me follow before as well as after my surgery. Even when I decided to move my surgery earlier, she made it as easy and stress free as possible. In fact, every staff member at NVISION Fullerton was so friendly, and the professionalism from everyone made me feel confident in choosing them for my LASIK procedure. When my surgery date came, Franklin Lusby, M.D. performed the procedure on me. I had been told nothing but great things about him, both from the staff as well as my own optometrist. They give you medication to calm down, as well as numb your eyes and essentially walk you through the entire procedure. You maybe spend 10 minutes max under the knife (or lasers I should say) and then they give you some goggles, and send you to sleep for a whole day. By the next day, my optometrist had told me I already had better than 20/20 vision and the main discomfort had already passed. Post surgery can vary depending on how your eyes heal, but a month and a half out my eyes have pretty much gone back to normal, and my vision is great! My vision first started declining when I was 11 and this procedure has been life changing. For the first time in over a decade, I'm able to live my life without worrying about forgetting my glasses or running out of contacts to wear. I had the EVO ICL procedure done a week ago and couldn't be happier with the results! I originally had LASIK scheduled at another facility, but I was referred to NVISION in Fullerton--and I'm so thankful I made the switch. I have a high prescription, and while LASIK was technically an option, I was advised it wasn't ideal due to the amount of corneal tissue that would need to be removed. From the moment I came out of surgery, I was able to see--and I was amazed! My life has completely changed for the better since having this procedure done. From the moment I scheduled my surgery, the entire team was exceptional. Everyone in the office was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the process. Stephanie went above and beyond, answering my questions almost immediately--even on days when I was told she wasn't in the office. Dr. Arakaki and Dr. Rowen were both kind, professional, and reassuring, which made the experience even better. LASIK at NVision Eye Center: I'm sure you've heard this before when considering this procedure. "It's life changing." "I wish I would have done it sooner." They're right. They're all right. Imagine waking up and being able to see. I workout without the extra step of contacts. I travel without worrying about contacts, solution, or glasses. Take it from me, someone with poor eyesight since 5th grade, this was like pushing the reset button for my eyes and going back to 20/20. If you made glasses a part of your identity, that's dumb. Your eyes will be stronger and healthier, or if you must, you can fit your frames with blue light and a .005 prescription for work/reading, fine. But I bet you won't wear them. I have to call out Stephanie Tomita who was our lead counselor. She was so generous with her time, expertise, and advice. We were able to text and clarify, and she cares about your satisfaction and nerves. She truly made our experience comfortable. My wife and I got the procedure done a week apart (about 5 weeks ago as of January 2024), and we both have been so happy with the results. Dr.Lusby is a legend. He loves what he does and he's so reassuring. He basically narrates the whole procedure so you feel confident and guided. Just listen to him and keep your eyes open. Dr.Lusby has done this almost 100k times. You are in good hands. Right after the procedure, I peaked through the eye shades and could already notice a difference. I exclaimed "Doc, I can see!" He chuckled and said "I know." I was asked by someone considering LASIK whether they should do it, and here is my FAQ. 1. Which LASIK procedure did you go with? Wavefront Guided, iDesign, Contoura, or something else? Was there a reason you went with your choice specifically? I got the wavefront, my wife got the Contoura. We did it one week apart. My astigmatism was a little more aggressive, so I didn't qualify for the Contoura - but I would have if I could. The laser maps more of your eye, so I'm 20/20 now, but my wife's vision is even sharper! 2. Have you had issues with night time vision or dark contrast? No issues with night vision. First week, the lights at night were super bright driving, but that was about it. 3. Have you had any side effects that have persisted and not gone away? No side- effects. The longest one for me, was my eyes were drier than usual, but by the third week, I would say they are much better. I use eye drops when I wake up and when I go to sleep, but that's about it. 4. Are you happy with the results of your procedure? I'm extremely happy I did it. The procedure was only 15 minutes, but the difference is huge. 5. Do you have any recommendations of someone looking to get LASIK? I would recommend factoring in proximity. The most irritation you're going to feel is day-of, and you don't want to be driving too long while you should get to bed. I picked an afternoon appointment (2pm to 4pm) so I could knock out the whole 12 hours and go to my optometrist first thing next morning for post-op check up. Read and execute all the pre-op and post-op. Take the antibiotic the day before the procedure. Check your insurance: VSP does an end of year discount usually. If given the opportunity to watch the procedure, don't do it. Ignorance is bliss. Just listen to the calm dulcet tones of Dr.Lusby and enjoy the light show. I also recommend trying different eye drops for aftercare. My wife didn't react well to Oasis at all, she preferred Invisia and I preferred Systane. Refresh is fine, but basic. IF, you don't currently qualify... check again every two years. LASIK does not often have repeat customers, so they have to keep improving their technology. You may qualify in the future. Disclaimer: I did not get PRK, that sounds like a different beast, so no comment. Apparently my corneas are thicc bois. The only minor minor critique I have for NVision was that they were holding their office holiday party that day, and I peeked over to see... Little Caesars and Pepsi. I'm very torn writing this because up to the day of the surgery my experience with this office was very professional, respectful, and patient-focused. The day of surgery was different. I arrived on time and had confirmed no fewer than 3 ways my surgery date and time. However they still hadn't gotten the pre op appointment records from my optometrist that they had instructed me to attend. They had to pause last minute to request those records. Then it came to preparing for the procedure itself. I took the medication meant to relax you and for some reason it had no effect on me, although I wasn't very anxious to begin with so I wasn't concerned. The procedure started and I immediately was so disoriented from the pain and discomfort it was nearly impossible to follow the doctor's instruction. The doctor kept asking me to look at a green dot, which I was only able to see about half of the time. Then the "suction" apparatus was placed on my eye where I was now meant to look at a red dot, more specifically "the bottom of the dot". How one is supposed to look at the "bottom" of a dot, I have no idea. I truly was doing my best in spite of being in pain and not understanding where I was supposed to be directing my vision. Finally the doctor said "try to look at your shoes". Ok, that I can do. But looking at "the bottom of a dot" left me so confused and now anxious. The pain increased and finally the doctor stated "we need to give you more drugs because you're squeezing your eyes too much." I apologized profusely and explained that it was very painful. The doctor simply said "it's painful because you're squeezing." I was devastated and embarrassed. They had me sit for several minutes alone, eventually they let my husband in because they could probably could tell I was upset. They gave me more medication, but at that point I was so anxious even the second pill had no effect. They moved me to another room and gave me another pill. One of the doctors (not the surgeon) came in to talk to me and I explained that the beginning of the surgery was painful for me, to which she responded "what's your pain tolerance like?" It felt very dismissive and now I felt even more embarrassed. Also I was confused because at this point I was told over and over that the procedure would be painless. The procedure itself went fine to my knowledge (I can see, thank goodness!). However the next morning I'm reading the post op instructions and it describes 2 different medicated drops I'm meant to be using for a week post op. I look at the packet they gave me and there were no meds in it. I contacted my care coordinator who said " you didn't get a kit from us? You were supposed to start those drops the day. Before the surgery." They never offered me any medication besides a sleeping pill and Xanax. She said she would go ahead and call them into my pharmacy. Now I'm a day and a half behind and I pray there's no complications because of it. Again, this isn't to place blame on any one person, I just think the communication broke down at a couple of different times. I wasn't numbed enough and obviously wasn't calm enough to undergo this procedure . I'm glad I went through with it because I wouldn't have been able to muster up the courage to go back. read more

Stephanie guided me through my initial consultation. She was incredibly informative and patient with me. I had tons of questions which she answered concisely and directly. None of that filthy salesperson spew. Next up I had Doc Arakaki check my eyeballs for to make sure I was eligible for the procedure. I was sitting at a -7.0 prescription so my hopes weren't too high. I was ready for rejection, BUT Doc had told me that she had the procedure done with great success and she was damn near legally blind! After a thorough check up, I was cleared! The whole process from the week leading up to my procedure to the day of until the day after. An extremely smooth experience. The whole staff over there are a perfectly oiled machine AND also personable and kind. Unfortunately by the time I was able to book my appointment Stephanie was on maternity leave and my file was given to Melinda who reached out immediately to introduce herself. She dealt with my ever fluctuating work schedule and overall lack of responsiveness and helped me lock in an actual date for surgery! One week out from surgery and I've had "0" complications! I was able to see immediately after surgery but under Doc's orders, rested them until the next day. I followed the simple post op instructions and have had "0" discomfort and only clear, crispy vision since!! What can I say... my overall experience was great! Melinda who was my patient coordinator went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and safe, she answered my questions, texted me to check in before and after my surgery and didn't make me feel like a bother with the many questions I had. I decided to get a LASIK consultation once I found out how much my contacts for dailies were going to cost per year. It didn't seem worth it to continue spending money on contacts, new glasses, etc. I only had my consultation and surgery completed here. (My pre-op and post-op were done at my usual optometrist.) It's clean and modern inside so it was a good first impression. Overall, I thought that the staff in this location was friendly, professional and always willing to answer any questions that I had whether I was in-person or sending an email to them. My assigned doctor for the surgery, Dr. Lusby, has a very calm demeanor and he's very matter of fact. I felt more at ease knowing his reputation and his bedside manners. No pun intended but you can see why this NVISION has +4.8 stars. In reality they deserve that 5+ stars because I had such a great experience throughout. My name is Freddie M. And I got LASIK with contura last Friday 03/14/2025. The process was a real experience for me but not because of NVISION Fullerton but my own fault for not dealing with a few retinal tears (that could have led to detachment if not dealt with). My personal eye doctor who also works regularly with NVISION and Dr. Lusby and my eye expert Melinda Reza; recommended I fix that before I got my LASIK done and the entire office starting with Melinda Reza was extremely kind and accommodating and HELPFUL in helping me go about the surgeries I needed beforehand prior to the real LASIK that had to be pushed from the beginning of Feb 2025 to middle of March 2025. Again I can't stress enough how pain free they made this whole process that they didn't even know I needed nor had any responsibility for helping me sort and deal with. Melinda and her team were top notch and because of Dr. Lusby I now have 20/15 vision, hopefully 20/10 in a couple more weeks post op. I followed the pre and post op directions to a tee and thank god I have perfect vision. No glasses no contacts, bye bye! They have such an amazing, well explained process that now my mom and little brother want LASIK. Prior to coming to NVision, I had consultations at two other eye centers. I have a high prescription of -7 in my right eye and -8 in my left eye, along with significant astigmatism. Both centers informed me that I wasn't eligible for LASIK due to my high prescription and that my only options were PRK or ICL. PRK involves a longer recovery time, which would be challenging for me as I have a toddler to take care of. A friend recommended NVision, where she had LASIK a few years ago. Although it's an hour away from my home, I decided to schedule a consultation at their Torrance location. To my surprise, the doctor told me I was eligible for LASIK! I was so happy to hear that. I had my LASIK surgery at their Fullerton location, and the experience was excellent. Dr. Arakaki explained everything thoroughly during the consultation and answered all of my questions. During the surgery itself, he talked me through every step of the process, which made me feel at ease. I wasn't nervous at all because I knew I was in good hands. The procedure was very quick, and while I did feel some pressure on my eyes, it was completely painless. After the surgery, I went home and rested. When I woke up the next morning, I could already see clearly with perfect vision! The recovery process was very fast, and I didn't experience any pain. In fact, I was able to attend a dinner appointment the day after my surgery. While I did notice some glare around lights at night, it wasn't painful, just a little uncomfortable. During the first week of recovery, I resumed my normal activities, including working on my computer, without experiencing dryness. However, I did notice a slight stinging sensation in my eyes at the end of the day when I was tired, but it was manageable. Now I'm 2 months post op, and I don't feel any discomfort or dryness at all. One downside of my experience was the long wait times at the Fullerton location. During my pre-op checkup, I was told it would take about an hour, but it ended up being three hours. I also waited for about 40 minutes in the room before seeing the doctor. The Torrance location has shorter wait times. After wearing glasses for over 30 years, I am beyond thrilled to finally be free of them--and contacts too! I'm so glad I had LASIK at NVision and definitely recommend it to anyone considering the procedure. read more

This has been the smoothest experience. At my regular eye checkup, my optometrist mentioned I would be a good candidate for Lasik & gave me a brochure for Nvision. I had my initial consultation on Monday at Nvision, they confirmed I was a good candidate. They had an opening on Friday & before I knew it, it was scheduled! It is now Saturday, & I am shocked that I can so incredibly well! It truly feels like the day I got my first pair of glasses 40 years ago! I feel like I am seeing fine details I have not seen in years! I am seeing even more clearly than I have with my contacts or my glasses. The Dr. said it will only get clearer over the week. Dr. Lusby, Melinda, and the office staff were extremely professional and well versed in the surgery. My anxiety was up during the day of the surgery but Dr. Lusby walked me through the procedure and assured me that everything was fine. By the time I was on the table it took no longer than 15 mins and the laser was less than a minute per eye. All I had to do is look at a green light. Nvision does not try to upsell any surgeries and encourages patients to look up research on their own and provided helpful resources. I am 4 days from my post op and at worse I feel some slight dryness (it is quite windy outside). Please make sure to follow all directives from the medical provider and your optometrist. Recommended cataract surgery for both eyes. Decided to get second opinion and was told that surgery was not necessary. Nvision recommended 6000 dollar surgery for both eyes totaling $1200. The office was dirty and they didn't see fit to wipe down any of the equipment they used. Try Mosier Optometry instead. Far better experience and didn't need surgery. read more

It has been almost a year post op. In the beginning after my surgery my eyes were great! I was seeing everything clearly. Slowly my vision started getting blurry again, I also have moderate dry eyes. Been using drops every day several times a day. I was not aware that LASIK was going to dry my eyes so much. The Dr suggested an eye plug for my dry eyes but I am not sure I want to do that. I also need glasses now. My prescription is not as bad as it was before Lasik but the point of Lasik was to no longer wear glasses. Would I recommend LASIK? No i would not. read more

So disappointed. I drove 45 mins because Dr Rowen was recommended by a friend. My appt was at 9am. Was sitting in the lobby when I saw Dr Rowen arrive at 9:20am. She stayed in her office talking about travel plans with 2 other employees. At 9:45am, I asked how much longer and the front desk told me they were waiting for a room to open up (trying not to blame the Dr.) How important must you feel when you think keeping a potential customer waiting for over 45 mins while you are socializing in your office is okay Needless to say, I took my insurance copies and left. I was tired of spending money on glasses and contacts. So I thought, let's see if I qualify and see what this Lasik is all about. On the day of my consultation, I thought to myself it wouldn't hurt to check it out. Melinda was amazing, very nice professionally, and provided so much detail about the process and what to expect. I left there with a surgery date. I had surgery on May 30th, and it went exactly as I was told. I was able to work the next day. Today, I see 20/20 -both eyes. Got my lasik surgery with contoura completed by Dr Lusby here and am very happy with the results. Free parking available at the center. The process was explained thoroughly and they'll answer any questions you have. My sister had her surgery done here and I was all referred to this spot by Dr. Cheung from Fashion Eyes in West Covina. For the LASIK process, you need to: 1. go in for a free consultation. Don't wear contacts for a few days beforehand. They'll perform various tests to see whether you're a good candidate for lasik. Afterwards, they'll go over costs and the surgery procedure with you. 2. Note that you need to go to your optometrist for a pupil dilation (whether that be before your consultation or after). 3. They'll give you instructions, but you can't wear contacts the week before your surgery. You'll have to get a couple of eye drop medications and take fish oil supplements. They have a package available for purchase at the center or you can obtain these items on your own. They will write you a prescription. 4. On the day of surgery, you need someone to drive you to/from the surgery. You'll go through the tests again and it'll take about 2.5 hours before you have your actual surgery, which happened very quickly. You get a Xanax to relax as well as sleeping pills to sleep the rest of the day off. You don't take your goggles off until you see your optometrist the following day for a checkin. read more

Just had my corrective surgery yesterday and. It's like night and day. The whole process was a breeze and the people working at the office were nothing but nice and helpful. I have only worn glasses for 7 years but should have been wearing them longer but the wife did the surgery last year and said I needed to get it done. So I debated on it for a bit, I don't like things touching my eye, kind of why I never wore contacts but yeah the procedure was a snap just some pressure but nothing like having a tooth pulled. As quickly as they get you into the operating room they get you out. Got lasik procedure done here yesterday. The consultation was very straightforward and the scans were easy. The procedure itself went rather smoothly, as well as the pre-op preparation, scans etc, and recovery and the instructions provided. I'm so far satisfied with my results, as the next day at my post op appointment I was already seeing 20/15! (better than 20/20). It's so great to be able to see like this without contacts or glasses. The only reason this is a 4/5 stars is the wait time was rather long before the actual procedure. The whole process of pre surgery prep and the operation itself takes 25 minutes (scans, explaining the procedure, taking pills and the lasik itself etc), but I was there for about 3 hours mostly sitting in a chair waiting to get from one process to the other. I guess this is unavoidable to a certain extent, maybe a patient (or patients) before me took a long time with something, or maybe they were overbooked for a particular day. Either way, waiting that long for something that took such a short amount of time felt like I was at the DMV or something haha. Dr. Lusby and LASIK was recommended by my optometrist. I trusted my optometrist's opinion and had an amazing experience. There were a few other patients going through the office but the staff treated me like I was the only one there. They were 100% focused on me and making sure I was comfortable. They were very clear in communicating what to expect. Dr. Lusby spent a few minutes with me before the procedure to answer any questions. Once I got to the procedure he was talking me through it the entire time. And the results were exactly what I was hoping for. Had astigmatism and wore around - 2 diopter contacts. I had worn contacts for nearly 20 years. Now I'm 20/20 and I was doing all my normal activities like driving by the next day. The recovery time is pretty incredible. After being told in the past by others that I was not a candidate for Lasik. I wanted to get an 2nd opinion since I read from reviews on Yelp! that some people who have been told in the past that they are not a candidate for Lasik are actually are candidates for Lasik after visiting Nvision. So I paid them a visit for a free consultation. Unfortunately, I am not a candidate for Lasik, but I got more information and pointed in the right direction from the Dr. and Staff at Nvision than my last 2 eye exams put together in the past. It was not till Nvision that I learn about the term "Low Vision'. Something that I was never told in the past. The Dr. also pointed me to University Eye Center at Kecthum Health in Anaheim, which has opened up a bunch of information and assistance for me. Thank you Nvision for taking the time and energy to help me out and point me in the right direction, even though I was not a candidate for Lasik. You have helped me more than you will ever know and more than my past 2 eye exams at another place. read more

My surgery was almost a week ago, I'm still not seeing perfect, (I'm older) but even if this is as good as it gets, I am 100% happy!! I've worn contacts since 4th grade, glasses in my pillowcase so I can get to the bathroom, now waking up and being able to see, is a true gift!!! I can read!!!! Everyone here at NVISION is so nice, I really have to thank Melinda R, I was constantly sending her emails with questions, and to be honest, I was actually 2nd guessing my decision to do this!! Melinda always got right back to me and was so reassuring, I would have chickened out if it wasn't for her, I read too much online!! Dr Lusby is great too!! Talked to me through the entire procedure! I did have pain as soon as I got to the car, freaked me out, I had my mom look online before she drove away, and found it's normal sometimes, and usually goes away, in 4-5 hours.. sure enough, at the 4 hour mark, it VANISHED! My follow ups with my eye dr he tells me everything looks great, and he can't even see where anything was done, impressive for not even a week after surgery!
