I had more tests than I've ever had before, including some that were covered by my insurance but had never been offered to me elsewhere. If I could give FVC more than 5 stars I would! The front desk ladies are super sweet and caring, they went above and beyond to keep my 3 year old happy throughout her visit for her first eye exam. I called to setup an appointment, which the customer service was great, they went above and beyond to try and find the best day and time. The only disappointment is that I don't recall being informed of the $25 charge if not cancelled within 24hrs. They did send me a text message, but it was a couple of hours before reaching 24hrs. What would of happened if I have no way of communicating on time to cancel?? Luckily I was able to cancel the appointment in time. (I hope) I wouldn't want a bill send to me for $25. So if you plan to setup an appointment, and need to cancel at the last minute, be aware of the charge. read more

I've been coming to this facility since I was three years old I am now 25. I've never missed a yearly visit, unfortunately the last couple of years my experience hasn't been pleasant with the ladies at the front desk. Dr. Kaku is so warm and welcoming which is why I continue to come despite the uneasy feeling I get. My experience today was the last straw for me. I opted to not get glasses this year and had to listen to the ladies make rude remarks about me and my family while waiting to be seen. I have always gone to Costco's optics department for eye exams, and contacts / glasses because I figured they would be cheaper. Their prices are a little high and Costco doesn't accept my insurance so everything is out of pocket. An issue I had with them is that they were on such a time crunch to see so many clients that there was little time to ask questions and little focus on you as the patient. It was all very rushed, the whole process. I decided to try Fullerton Vision because they were in my network and I had a goal to save some money. From my visit, I was able to save some money (yay) ; and interestingly enough, I found another goal fulfilled that I hadn't set as an expectation prior to my appointment: customer service. I'd describe the overall environment at Fullerton Vision Center as VERY positive, friendly, and warm. Staff were all exceptionally kind, down-to-earth, and helpful- able to go the extra mile in giving advice. The Dr was very knowledgeable and laid back (a nice person to talk to), he was able to give me recommendations on vitamins for eye health and contact solution, among other recommendations that I will be taking! Due to Covid restrictions, I was the only patient in the entire office, which only amplified the dedication this staff has for their patients. Looking back at Costco, I plan on switching fully to Fullerton Vision Center due to their remarkable personable and knowledgeable staff, and also because they have more advanced equipment than Costco! I picked out a frame that I thought I liked, but when I wore them for a day, they hugged my eyes like goggles. When I went to get a refund, they told me that only the frame can be refunded--not the lenses, which cost me about 500 bucks. So $500 down the drain. They never told me the refund policy at the time of purchase. read more

I went to get a jaeger and color test per my works requirement. We have a form that the doctor must fill out. Made it clear to the doctor I only wanted the jaeger and color test but they did a whole eye exam saying they had to. Then they charged me an extra 40 dollars for the signature on the form... what. I have never had this with any other vision center. Normally I go in read the jaeger paragraph do the colorblind chart they sign the paper and I pay my 20 dollar co pay an out the door. They didn't really have great personal skills either. But wow. Will not be returning here, that is for certain. read more

I hadn't heard anything about the office prior to my visit but my experience was nothing short of amazing. I'd had bad experiences with insurance in the past so I was nervous going into my appointment. However, the staff was very friendly & accommodating, and were more than happy to clarify any concerns I had. This is my regular optometrist. Dr. Kaka is nice, personable, and professional. The staff are very helpful and capable. I recently had a lens fall out of my glasses after the frame had gotten bent. So this is a mixed bag of a review. The Dr., he is GREAT. Nice guy and really has a great demeanor. Seems VERY knowledgeable and I like him a LOT. Ok, the office staff, not so much. After getting my prescription I went to look for some frames. I found one I liked a lot. It didn't have the price on it and so while the lady was looking it up, I asked for the model number. I found it all over the internet for $60. I have Vision Insurance that covers up to $125.00 for the frame and then some more for the lenses. Lady then tells me, "that will be $130 cost to you". I asked if that was before or after the insurance benefit. She told me that was AFTER and would be my cost. This is before we started talking about lenses and coatings and transitions and all that good stuff. So I showed her the exact frame for sale on 10 different sites for the $60 price and asked her if she wanted to rethink the price. Ice daggers was the look I got. And not just from her but the other two ladies working the front. I even offered to let them bill the entire amount of my benefit for the frames if they wanted to but I just didn't want to be out of pocket on $60 frames when I have insurance that covers up to $125. NOPE. Not only that, but they acted like I was the biggest asshole for even bringing up the price. I finally had enough and said: "hey, why you treating me like I'm the asshole here when you're the one charging 300% over full retail on frames?" More glaring ice daggers. Fine, whatever. I said just give me my prescription and I'll be on my way. I went online and ordered my new glasses with all the lens treatments and every upgrade and even got a MORE expensive and nicer frame. My total cost, $130 WITH UPGRADED LENSES and transitions. My cost through the office would have topped $400. My wife has been taking my children there for years and I always had bad feelings about the total price we always seemed to be paying for glasses. Well, NEVER AGAIN. Dr. Kaku, you are a great guy and an absolute profession in every sense. You deserve better and your front office staff is brining you down. You really need to have a talk with them. Even if your policy is going to remain charging people with insurance a 300% premium on lenses, there is a nice way to go about handling the occasional person who is not in the mood to get ripped off. Went again after four months for some blue light glasses. I'm taking online classes that require me to sit in front of my computer for 10-12hrs a day, and its a lot on my eyes. I went in and they again found me really cool and affordable glasses that go with my prescription. They are very patient and very clean during this pandemic. I reviewed other reviews before making my appointment and was not disappointed. They were able to get me in within 3 days which was great and very flexible. Their staff was very friendly and I only waited about 5 minutes before pre-check, then about ten or so for the doctor. The doctor was very friendly and explained the whole process. He noticed I had a freckle on my eye that no one has noticed before so I was very impressed! I had the opportunity to look at glasses but felt no pressure, although I was not asked if I needed help. But I was not pressured. They gave me a copy of my prescription and I was set! Def recommend! read more

Dr. K is such an amazing optometrist! He caught the fact that I have Keratoconus and explain everything to me in a great detail and walked me through how to work with my insurance to get help. He has amazing bedside manners and never makes you feel rushed, even though it was past there time to close he still made sure to help and answer all question you might have. I have been coming to Fullerton Vision Center for the last 5 years. The service is unbeatable and the team really cares about their customers. Michelle has been amazing as she was quick to answer all my questions and helped me find the perfect contact lenses and glasses. Dr. Kaku is also amazing. He has been extremely patient and kind and his prescriptions are always 100% accurate. When I was in Ireland over the summer I had to call him on his cell phone as one of my eyes had swollen up and I could not see from it. He was quick to help me even though I was literally half way across the world. Star, another associate, is also incredible and is always so happy to help everyone. When I needed new glasses I was fortunate to come in while they were running a special on two pairs. Dr. Kaku gave me the most comprehensive eye exam I have ever had and made some helpful recommendations. The staff really hooked me up on my glasses price-wise. I compared their prices and nobody had a better deal. Their selection of frames is excellent with variety to suit any taste. Happily for Moms, their lobby has a nice video game consol for the kids.
