Giving Lena a review because it looks like no one has done so since pre-pandemic. I went to Lena in September to get my eyebrows tattooed. I was super hesitant because I saw my mom do it in the 1990s and she had an allergic reaction and looked horrible for a week. Anyway, I'm getting to the point in my life where my appearance is still important to me, but I just want to look good without putting in too much effort. Yes, I am lazy. Anyhoo Lena was quick to respond to my email inquiry about what type of brow service I should do. I was initially thinking microblading because it is less permanent and seems to be popular these days, however after consultation Lena suggested getting my eyebrows tattooed. I have sparse non-existent eyebrows. I looked totally different with makeup and without makeup, mainly because I had no eyebrows. I would go to yoga work up a sweat and come out looking like a totally different person because my brows would melt off. After getting my brows tattooed, my husband says it looks like I have makeup on all the time, that's how much of a difference it has made. Like he thought I was hot before, but now I'm even hotter because I have nice eyebrows all the time. Lena did a fabulous job. My eyebrows are symmetrical and perfectly proportioned. The process took about 1.5 hours and I felt very little pain. I went back a month later and she touched up my eyebrows to make sure they were settling in well. Highly recommend Lena! Hot Mama in the House! Before you read on to my review I would just like to make clear that I'm happily married with 2 kiddos. Lena is one smokin hot mama. Her high stilettos gave way to her entrance as I awaited my eye brow waxing. I heard it as it met the floor, before my eyes met her Asian brown eyes. When she came walking out... it was like a scene from a movie. In slow motion...I followed those stilettos, to her nicely toned legs, her tight black dress hugged every curve of her body. Just the right amount of bosom peeked out of the top of her dress. Her jet black straight hair glistened in the light. Like an art canvas her gorgeous tanned skin with colored tattoos adorned her body well. Her nice smilingly pearly whites greeted me . Yes, a woman's body is definitely in no competition to a man's. You see in the beginning of time Adam was made of Dirt and Eve was made out of a rib. Before a master piece a draft must be made. I'm a FAN but not of the price! Girls, this is the most priciest eye brow waxing I ever got, 35 smakaroos. I've been to Paul Brown, Wax and Lash bar, Heaven on Earth, Bobbi and Guy, I can go on and on but I'll reiterate that it's was the most priciest. Well, your 1st eye brow shaping is 35 but on the next one it's 25 smakaroos. When you check in 3 times with your smart phone, Yelp application then it's $20 on your 3rd visit. Besides the price I'm a FAN of everything else. Especially gorgeous Lena ; ) I know everything is more expensive in Honolulu. Lena was quite easy to get a hold off. I reached her threw email and she quickly responded. The office is located on the 2nd floor, its above a snack shop. Lena is actually Located in Reneux Med Spa. When you get off of the elevator you can see the spa. (PAID) parking is located right next to the building. When you check in for your appointment they offer you water, coffee, or tea. The office is clean and the staff is nice. I showed a picture to Lena on how I wanted my eye brows shaped. I admit that I don't have much to work with but I've experienced miracles with 2 estheticians who sadly moved to the mainland. I'm willing to pay $35 for a miracle but I didn't get a miracle that day. I wanted an arch, but not too thin. She told me that the picture that I showed that her eyebrow is darkened in by makeup. Since I live on the Leeward side, I probably won't go out of my way to see her. But if you live on the Honolulu side or work in Honolulu) side then I would recommend Lena. Yelp 365 Challenge #173/365 My last review for 2012 and it is about a business woman that has a reputable character of great business sense and beautiful personality. I met Lena at a memorial tweet-up last year as well as connected not only through twitter but Yelp, Instagram and Facebook. I also had the opportunity to meet her at the Color Run since she is an avid runner / fitness guru :) This past year has been a year of awakening for me. First, my pursuit for a healthier lifestyle with SOHI Fitness. Then, a search for a great hairdresser (Sheryl at Salon Blanc) and then realizing that my eyebrows needs great care too instead of crossing my fingers each time I'm at a nail/beauty salon that they will shape my eyebrows prettily and not make me have pencil thin eyebrows that will make me look like a "chola" from the 1980's. Thus, my decision to choose Lena's Fab Brows. Lena had a special going on and I decided to take up that special because 1) I've been hesitant on going back to a nail salon for my eyebrows; 2) I've been attempting to tweeze and shape my eyebrows but for some odd reason...one brow was shorter than the other; 3) I knew it was time to get some professional work done to my eyebrows (Note: I don't have bushy eyebrows or one eyebrow). I was able to text message her requesting for an appointment date and time and she was so accommodating! She asked me which dates and time I preferred, which worked well with her schedule because she had an opening. She gave me the directions, which is easy to find! I got there early but she took me in right away instead of having me wait. Before she did anything, she asked if I wanted her to just shape / touch up on my eyebrows as well as if I was allergic to anything. Then, she went to work on my brows. You would think that just a touch up wouldn't really do anything but I have to share that my visit with her was last month and Lena shaped my eyebrows were shaped so naturally that I still don't have a problem up-keeping it until I have to see her again (which I think I need to do before I head to Baltimore for training). Now, for me or any lady should know if they have quality work done...this speaks volume of the person who makes you pretty. I highly recommend Lena if you are looking for someone to touch up, shape up or landscape your eyebrows. Ohhh did you know, Lena knows magic!? I have been seeing Lena for years -- she has managed to once again take my overgrown, bushy, mess and turn them into something fantastic. I seriously need to get better about seeing her more regularly rather than walking around with this sense of crazy on my face! It's been over a year since I got my brows waxed. Let's face it - I hardly have any to begin with, so it's not at the top of my list of priorities as far as maintenance goes. But every now and then when I'm feeling girly, I'll get them waxed. When I saw a tweet about Lena's Thanksgiving brow wax special ($20, instead of the normal $35), I jumped at the opportunity to get a brow wax from her. She's very easy to book - just email or text her. She's very responsive. I'd say this was the best brow wax I've ever had. It was quick, painless, and Lena is so nice and personable. I have really sparse eyebrows and the hair isn't very dark which makes filling them in a must. I've found keeping them waxed makes the daily task of filling them quick and easy. What I like about Lena is that she listens to you and tries to achieve the look you want. Having gone the thin eyebrow look in my younger days, I prefer a fuller look now. The waxing is always very quick, but what a difference the clean up makes! I wish I could go more often as I hate tweezing. Right now I go back every 6-8 weeks. I was in Kakaako getting my car detailed & used Yelp to find a place to get my eyebrows waxed for a wedding tomorrow. I am the bride's maid of honor, so I'm sure I'll be photographed! Kudos to Lena for promptly responding to my text requesting to be fit in, despite being pretty booked today. That's service! Lena is very friendly as other Yelpers say; she has a way to make her clients feel comfortable from the very first visit. Her waxing is virtually pain free, but she seemed to tweeze more than wax my brows. I actually had my brows done not too long ago by Skinpure Beauty Bar which did a fabulous job, so this time I didn't really need a reshaping or anything, more of a clean up. Lena did thin out my brows and cleaned them up. The only reason why I'm giving one star short of perfect is the price. I had brows and lips waxed today, and was charged $47 plus tip which set me back more than $56. I can see maybe $30-35 + tip for both services is typical. Benefit Brow Bar at Macy's and Beyond Bare Waxing at Ala Moana charge in this range . So other than the sticker shock , I was pretty pleased with the results. Coming form the fashion industry in NYC, I've worked with some of the top make-up artists around. So when I needed my make-up done for a fund-raiser I was attending, I went to Lena. Upon arrival, we discussed the look I was looking for. I told her I wanted dramatic smoky eyes and away to work she went. She has a passion for what she does and it comes through in her work. I moved from NYC to Hawaii Kai two years ago. I had a top eyebrow specialist who has been featured in magazines and works in a chic NYC salon (Sex and the City movie filmed there!). She was the best and charged $75 for an eyebrow wax! That's NYC for ya. So, when I moved here I never thought I would find a replacement for my NYC lady. Boy was I wrong! I met Lena back in February of this year. I was going to a wedding which was to be televised on a popular reality show that films here on Oahu. I saw online that Lena had a $20 brow wax special and I texted her immediately to schedule an appointment. My brows were extremely overgrown and bushy. I wore my eyeglasses one day and my boyfriend thought I was wearing a fake mustache & eyebrow set. Okay, it wasn't that bad, but I'm Samoan and I have an aunty who seriously needs to get her beard trimmed. Sorry aunty, but someone needs to speak up and tell you the truth. You have a beard. Back to Lena, I drove into the parking lot which is adjacent to the building she's located in, and paid $1 for an hour of parking. I ended up bringing my 17 month old baby with me because my boyfriend wasn't able to make it home in time to watch her. Lena is super cool so I knew she wouldn't mind. That and she didn't have a choice because the baby was already with me. In all fairness my baby is ridiculously cute and her smiling face will automatically make anyone's day 2000% better. I should be charging a fee to have people look at her. (Help, she is holding me at gunpoint and making me write this portion of the review.) If you've never been to Lena's, she has a chair inside the Reneaux Medi Spa on Kamakee Street. It's on the second floor above Bamboo Sky and Lin's Snacks. It's hidden but swanky, so in a way, visiting her is like going on a mini-vacay. I put my baby on my lap and held her while I reclined backwards. Lena and I chatted about our kids and caught up while she artfully waxed, trimmed and plucked my eyebrows. She did a super job and I couldn't be happier! No puffiness and I swear to the Lord above I look five pounds thinner now that my eyebrows aren't as thick. Okay so maybe this is all just in my head, but I don't give a damn. My opinion of myself is really all that matters in the end anyway. That and my boyfriend who agrees that my newly waxed eyebrows only improve my already hypnotic stare. I'd read reviews of this fab brow lady on here and everyone was raving, so trusting the ladies on here, I went to her. She is NOT as great and fabulous as people have reviewed. I'm sure that there are a lot of 'friends' vs honest clients reviews on here. I wear my brows well groomed, but not DRAWN in. Which is what I explained to her. Like another reviewer said, I should have gotten my clue when I noticed how she wears her own brows. I did get a little nervous at that point but decided that I should not judge her skills based on her taste and to give her a chance to give me what I had asked for. Nope. Lena really listens to you and is so great at doing brows! I have been to so many places here in Hawaii that doesn't listen to what you want. I have asked numerous times for my brows to look as natural as possible and I don't like them too thin. My mother says I have an unusual obsession with eyebrows. I disagree, but I will say I'm terribly jealous of women who just walk around with beautiful brows. My poor daughter was born with her father's bushy "Mumfur" brows that border on a unibrow. With prom just around the corner she asked me to fix it for her. I had a better idea... Lena's reputation preceeds her so I could think of no one else to deal with the brow mess then her. A day after I first spoke to her, we were in her station and the magic began. Lena stood over my daughter and like an artist painting on a canvas, she waxed and tweezed and reassessed in between. A little more here, a little more there, some brushing and some snipping and VOILA! Ze artiste iss done! My daughter, who is usually unimpressed with everything, says to me, "I look like a girl!" Lena does wonders with eyebrows. I've taken a few guys to her and after they get their eyebrows waxed, they are like strutting peacocks (no lie!). Let me start off by saying I love Lena. I look like a Korean god descended to earth to fulfill the world with love. But on the other hand, being Korean, I hate to wait. My rule is if someone books an appointment for a certain time with the exception of five minutes give and take, I expect my time to be "my" time. This review is being written at 10:30, my appointment was for 10:15. I even came early as a courtesy. Thirty minutes to wait to get a brow wax done is too long. You lose credibility and it's thirty minutes of my time where I could have gone to Starbucks or Jamba Juice. Sadly, I may need to add Lena on my patiently wait list. She knows how to live up to her name; Lena's "FAB" brows. It's natural, I don't look fake like those Asian girls with a millimeter pencil drawn in eyebrow, or the earth loving gals where "au naturel" is a given. My consultation lasted not even 20 seconds, and the wax and plucking came up! It was so painful, but in a metro-sexualized society and more importantly in my line of work I need to look good for whomever I meet and whenever they want to meet me. And thank goodness I don't look angry! It looks natural and am VERY pleased with the results. I cheated on Lena once and went to Waxing Co. Needless to say, I will NEVER cheat on her again. My experience with Waxing Co. was not a pleasant one. I came out of there with thin brows and looked like a "porn star." I waited a good 1.5 months (patience is truly a virtue) so that I could grow my brows out. I did not hesitate to pay the $25+tip to see Lena so she could sculpt my brows into utter perfection. To all YELP-ers... I have been going to Lena for over 2 years and I absolutely love her and her services! She is a really good make up artist that understands each woman's unique beauty. I give Lena 5 stars because as yelp says, she IS as good as it gets! I usually get my brows done once a month from her and when she is done waxing, I feel like a new woman! When I moved out of California to Hawaii, I was afraid for countless reasons. One of my reasons, that I must say goes top on the list, was to find someone who could do my eyebrows just as good as the girl who has been shaping my eyebrow for ages back home.. After some trial and errors, i finally found someone who could shape my eyebrows just as good... but even better! Been going to her for a little over a year now and she always does an amazing job. I actually went a stray one day (for emergency sake) and ended up walking out with super arched, thin, eyebrows. SO HATED IT! I've been to see Lena once. I was able to text her about setting up an appointment and she was very accomodating and very quick with responding to my texts so that was great. It took me a while to find her because although I knew the address, I didn't know that she rented out a spot in the cosmetic spa place. She did a pretty good job with my brows but I haven't gone back nor do I really intend to because it was pretty pricey for just brows. Normally I do brows and lips for around that price at other places. But the main reason why I don't really care to go back is because she seemed a little rushed and she spent the whole time talking story with the person who rents the spot next to hers. I found that a little rude and would much prefer her either to concentrate more on me or maybe make small talk with me. I don't mean to come across as selfish or what not but I figure if I'm paying someone for a service, then it SHOULD be all about me, or mostly about me if anything. It's weird though because everyone else seems to say she was super nice (which she was if not a bit distant) and professional. I just moved to Oahu and needed my eyebrows done. After reading all the good reviews of Lena, I decided to go there. Luckily, she was running a 1/2 off for first time customers, so instead of the $35 regular price, I got it for $18! I normally get my brows threaded because when I'd get it waxed they take off too much hair and never shaped it very nicely. So I was a little skeptical. However, she did such a wonderful job! My brows were so overgrown and nasty, and she made them look fabulous!! (no pun intended!!) She shaped them perfectly. She also didn't leave any stray hairs behind (which has happened to me a lot). To be honest, that was the BEST brow job I've ever had. She is pricey though. Lena is very professional and skilled! I've got long-haired eyebrows, and I can definitely feel the difference when she trims, waxes, and tweezes. She also doesn't give me too much of a dramatic shaping, which is good since I'm fine with the way my eyebrows curve. (I look at people who have line-thin eyebrows that look like they're tweezed to death, their beautiful shaping is gone. Please don't do it.) She offers monthly deals once in awhile, and she's forgiving that I don't go back for a touch-up on time. I hope she isn't mad, times are hard and money is tight. Brows are the most integral part of a woman's face. It frames the face offsetting key features. I LOVE getting my brows done and when I saw that Lena had a March special I practically jumped towards the phone. Lena is very friendly her shop is near Ward Centers in a small spa on the second floor of a store called I think Bamboo Sky. I tell you, she is heaven sent from above. I had my eye brows waxed at Paul Mitchells in Waikele and I don't know but the wax really hurt I think it was too hot or something and also they took tooo much hair off making my brows way to skinny. But Lena she took my eyebrows to a whole new level. She was very gentle and was fast! My eyebrows were so beautiful I got so many compliments hehehe. My eyebrows aren't as thick as I wish them to be so right after waxing I put on some eyebrow powder and wooowee!!! So I needed someone to do Hair and Makeup for me for the Cherry Blossom Festival. I can do my own makeup yes, but it's different on stage, and I wanted to look my best. I first contacted my stylist, but she didn't do updos. Instantly my heart dropped, but then they recommend me to Lena! Wait...what? Lena of Lena's Fab Brows does make up and hair? Well yes and no. Yes she does makeup, and is once again "Fabulous" at that! She does work with hair stylist that do up dos as well. My hair stylist was Monae Watkins. Both of them at a team, what a dynamic duo! I gave them an idea of what kind of style I'd like, and left them to interpret! It was awesome! They worked with me at all kinds of hours for the 3 different days I needed their services. I can't explain what happened, I've been touching up my own brows with the occasional wax for years, but somehow I lost my way. No matter what, my brows just didn't look... fashion. Lena fixed it in about 5 minutes. I seriously thought I had gotten jipped, and she just went straight to work to get me out of there, but when I saw my brows... Simple. but SO much better! I can't say enough great things about Lena. She is a dream to work with. She's talented, very professional, super hip, fun and cool. I was worried about who I was going to get to do my wedding day make-up in Hawaii since I wouldn't have a lot of time to do any trials since I live in Seattle. Well, from the get go when I called Lena, she was easy to work with and returned calls and emails just about instantaneously from her crackberry. This for me is a big plus since my Treo is a natural extension of my arm and I'm never anywhere without it. Lena is absolutely wonderful! Before going to Lena, I've been going to another lady for years - but I hated her customer service, but I kept going to her because she lived so close. Until one day I just had enough. So I took to twitter and yelp and many people recommended Lena - so after growing my eyebrows out (scary!), I booked an appointment. She is very friendly and I loved how she made me feel conformable. She took her time, making sure my eyebrows were perfect and the end result was amazing! Confession: I have caterpillar-like brows that cocoon themselves wherever they deem fit. Needless to say -- not exactly fun. I've had wax jobs where too much was taken off (aside from serious trekkies, most -- myself included -- would rather pass on the vulcan effect) as well as the other end of the spectrum, too little (uh thanks for tweezing those two hairs off. Do you charge for each?). Lena found a balance between the two: natural yet polished. My appointment was on time and with the groupon I used, her service was a steal! I'm not a chatty person Her site is a bit tricky to find since she operates out of the spa on the second floor and her name isn't on the building directory. Yelp came in handy of course, so luckily I read up on reviews who schooled my likely-to-otherwise-be-lost self. I was a little apprehensive first about going to get my brows done by someone I'd never met before and just 4 weeks before my wedding date. But I had no choice because we had just moved to O'ahu and I had no idea where to go. So I scheduled an appointment after reading all these wonderful reviews on yelp... I am SO GLAD I made that appointment. Lena is AWESOME, from the get-go she was super friendly which I love and she made my brows look PHENOMENAL which is pretty amazing considering I went there with pretty unbalanced crooked eyebrows (from a previous negative experience at a Nordstrom Anastasia station). I feel like I have a new face now, what a difference brows make! I HIGHLY recommend Lena, her price is very reasonable and well worth it considering what a fabulous job she does. Recommended? Yes! After the initial shaping of my eyebrows years and years ago, I've never had them done professionally. Instead I always went through the process of cleaning them up every couple of days myself. It was always one of those "I'll get it done later by someone" to-dos. Then I saw the groupon for Lena's Fab Brows and the great Yelp reviews. I couldn't resist, and I'm happy for my weak willpower now. Lena is amazing. Quick and efficient. I swear I could've fell asleep it was so painless. And when she had me look in the mirror...it was a defining moment of how could I have possibly let myself do what Lena does so much fabulously better? For parking, I just parked in the corner of the Nordstrom Rack and Office Depot then walked over towards the building with Phuket Thai. Lena is seriously so good! Truly an artist. Sent her a quick text, and within minutes, had my appointment in last month. Now i'm getting ready to go in again :) Asked for natural, thick brows with just a clean up and she did just that. So glad that she was fast, so my eyebrows didn't get irritated! Was literally out in 15 minutes. Another place I go to (same cost) takes 30 minutes... my eyebrows always get irritated for a couple days after visits from them :/ Efficiency + promptness = A+ for me! read more

I made an appointment with Lena after she had waxed my brows at a Yelp event a couple of months ago. She did a great job then, so I had planned to book her again. Took me a little while to make a follow-up appointment but I finally did and am very pleased with the results. Having just moved here from Seattle, I had been apprehensive to let anyone touch my brows since I had a fabulous waxer in Seattle. Previously, the only people that have touched my brows have been Anastasia trained so I was excited to see they had a counter here in Nordstrom's. After leaving a message and getting a call back, they said they could see me in 1.5 months...um NO! I figured I'd give yelp a try and see what I could find. Okay, first let me say I am in no way a foo foo girl. I don't go out to clubs, I'm in the military, and I hardly ever wear makeup. And I'm incredibly cheap. Which is why when this deal came up in groupon to have my eyebrows done by a *real* professional for only $17, I was stoked. I too had a bad experience with eye brows. I self-plucked in high school, and only years later in college did I realize one brow was totally uneven. How could people let me live like this?! To fix this, I went to a 'professional' at a nail salon (I know, I know, hardly professional when you pay $15 and they hardly speak english) off and on. Sometimes they did a good job, sometimes not. So here was a chance to have a real expert do it, I jumped on it. And boy am I sure glad I did! Even though I was an awful client that was 5 minutes late, she totally showed grace. She did an AMAZING job people. Seriously. It didn't even hurt. A little bit of wax, some lotion, some tweezing, some snipping, and voila, I loved loved my eyebrows. LOVE them. To the point I might actually pay full price to have them done again. I was going to give 4 stars, but I realized that was unfair. I'm originally from Hawaii but now live in California - I needed to find someone to wax my brows for my wedding in Hawaii and I was so happy and relieved to find Lena! I checked out her web site and read her reviews on Yelp, so I decided to give her a try back in April - she was as great as everyone says - so I booked her for my wedding in June. She had previously done my makeup at 2 of my best friend's weddings & I had felt soooo beautiful at both of those events.
