I really wanted to get a refund after reading the reviews for brow tattoo but unfortunately it was too late to request. A friend advised me to just take the money I paid (Groupon) as a lost, but I was too stubborn and cheap to move in that direction. So the tattoo lady uses the upstairs of what looks like her home, as her "studio". She has two small dogs, but that really bother me as the place looked clean. I didn't know what to expect, but the last time I got my brows tattooed, the person used an electric tattoo instrument. This lady didn't pre draw the box you see professional tattoo artists use before starting to tattoo the brows...and that was a bit concerning. This person (seriously!) used what looked like a scalpel. Yep, like what surgeons use. She did used numbing cream and waited for abut 30 minutes. That said, she began cutting and I could still feel the blade, which was a bit scary. It was numbed, but still could feel it scraping along my brows which was scary and hurt some. When I looked at the end result...my brows made me look nothing like myself. It changed how I normally look and made it look oddly like how those S.E. Asians look after a bad tattoo! I like my brows to begin thickest at the inside and taper thinner from there. The brows she cut were the same thickness up to the arch, then thinned out to the tail. I knew it would be dark, but since it was totally different from my natural brow shape...I was shocked! Plus I noticed that she shaved the upper brow hairs!! So now I'll still have to pencil them in. UGH! And the skin under my brows were in PAIN for the next two hours. Thankfully, I had some numbing cream at home, plus I used an old ice pack. I will not return. I'll have to find a tattoo ARTIST who uses real up to date tools next time. So it's been a couple of months since the tattooing session and I STILL have to draw in my eyebrows which are spotty and irregular. I had scheduled an appointment on a Friday afternoon and Jeannie shows up about 10 minutes late to my appointment, I'm not irritated no big deal, things happen, but not off to a good start. I would think that if this is a new client you would want to put your best foot forward and be on time, first impressions do last. I get to the room, discuss of what I want, and Jeannie recommends that we go with something that is a little longer than my natural lashes but not over the top. Unfortunately Jeannie was sick the day she did my appointment. I really didn't notice it that much until her face was literally inches away from mine and all I could concentrate on was her sniffling and trying to suck mucus back up her nose. Gross! The lady that I see now wears a medical mask with every appointment, Jeannie was not wearing a medical mask. All I could think about was hoping that nothing would drip onto me and to take shallow breathes and not inhale too deeply to avoid sucking in any of those germs she was exhaling out. The end result was great on my right eye lid, very happy with it. The left side I felt as though was rushed because she was already behind schedule and came out a little clumped together. My new lash lady confirmed this and because of that I lost lashes on that side faster than the right. I also lost a few days of work due to catching whatever it was that Jeannie had. Yucky! I guess my shallow breathing technique didn't work. The positive about Jeannie is that she charges $45 for a fill if you come back to her within a four week time span which isn't bad but I'd rather pay twice that much for a job well done and not getting a cold along with my extensions. read more

7 years later and I am still dealing with the horrible eyeliner job janet did. That fateful day is burned in my memory with so much regret, I am still haunted. I should have started running the other way when I knocked and knocked at her storefront because it was still locked and the lady stumbled out hung over and late for our appointment with her dogs running around in there. It looked like she came down the stairs from her living arrangement above. After having done a botched job on my eyeliner tattoo I remember returning the following day demanding her to fix it and her remedy was to put flesh/white colored ink over the smear (this actually made it worse like someone took a crayon to my face). After years of this embarrassing eyeliner that I had to cover with concealer everyday, I recently went to get this hellacious eyeliner laser removed and while I was able to get some of it removed I was told that the reason I couldn't get it completely removed is because white colored ink was impossible to remove. The way laser works is when the tattoo absorbs the light, the ink breaks up but white ink reflects light therefore is resistant to laser removal. So any or the smeared ink that was underneath the flesh/ white ink she used will be there FOREVER. Seriously how is her shop still in business. Zero stars. I went to Mimo for the first time yesterday. I had scheduled an appointment a little over a week ago to meet with Jeannie to get eyelash extensions, so I was pretty excited after having to wait for a bit. My appointment was at 10, and I arrived promptly on time. I had been waiting for about 10 minutes before Jeannie showed up. Then she had to prep herself and get squared away, so by the time she was ready for me, it was about 10:15. I thought this was a little unprofessional, but I suppose business is pretty relaxed there... Once she took me in, things went well. She told me her recommendation for what eyelashes would work best for my single lids and normally straight lashes and I took her suggestion. She was very friendly and informative during the application process and made me feel at ease. When I was done, I was very pleasantly surprised that my eyelashes came out so... PERFECTLY! They look very nice and I know this because I got about ten compliments today. I think I'll be going back, although they are a bit pricey (~$150 for the most expensive set + $20 tip)($55 for a refill + tip). By the way, Jeannie works by appointment only, but I've heard that she's the best on the island... I just hope that at my next appointment she's on time! read more

I went to Mimo because I found a great deal on Groupon ($189 for top & bottom liner) & the Yelp reviews were great (which is why I've decided to write one myself). I have to say... I'm just not happy with the results of my eyeliner. In all fairness Janet is great & I am a bit of a perfectionist but being that I've never had a procedure like this done before I expected a little more expertise. Aside from being inexperienced when it comes to permanent makeup (& that I was so excited to get it done) I totally overlooked the fact that she didn't draw on the liner to simply trace over with the needle as they do with other kinds of tattooing. I guess I also figured that they couldn't do so with the kind of COLORED markers they usually use since it's so close to the eye, but I would have hoped for her to know what SHE was doing. I showed her a picture of how I draw on my liquid liner and requested that she extend the line out on the outter edges a bit, the same way I do... but the work just ISN'T quality work. The lines are very thin (nowhere near as thick as in the picture I showed her), not as close to the eye as I'd hoped & somewhat shaky (not straight). Aside fom that the lines on the outter creases of both eyes don't come close to coming together & aren't even symetrical. Plus the inner bottom line on my left eye doesn't go all the way in towards the nose & there's an ink blot on the bottom inner lid of my right eye (in about the same place as where the liner stops on the other eye) which makes it look a little gray under my eye :-( I also had brusing under that eye for a few days which is gone now since it's been 3 weeks now I take some responsibility for all of this as I was only in Honolulu for vacation & therefore can't get the free touch up (though her Groupon didn't even mention there was one inlcuded) & I should have paid closer attention. I was her first appt of the day (after a long night- enjoying my last night on vacay) so I was tired but I guess I was also too trusting. Terrible customer service, we waited over 45 minutes for a scheduled appointment because the owner was late arriving to the store. We were actually asked by the lady at the front desk if we wanted to reschedule after we were there for over 30 minutes...wtf we had an appointment! Strike 1. Completely unsanitary. There is a dog running around the shop who even jumps up on the customers when they're in the chair. Not good for those allergic to dogs. Strike 2. Horrible results. My friend got the permanent eyeliner and eyebrows. Her eyes swelled up completely even with ice packs on her face, she was out of commission for days. The eyebrows actually went from brown to orange to practically red. Strike 3. No sympathy. My friend said that even when it got too painful and she said, "ow," Janet, the owner, would continue for several more seconds before stopping. I've heard others will stop if you tell them it hurts, and ask you before they continue. Strike 4. Dishonest. Janet tried to charge more than the original agreed price after the work was completed. My friend had to come back for a corrective touch up and Janet tried to gouge her for more money after she agreed to do the fix at no extra cost! "Oh I have to charge you for the needle." Give me a break! Strike 5. I've also heard the workers swearing on the phone in front of customers. Strike 6! Seriously there are so many strikes against this place in the two times I've gone there, things I've noticed, and work I've seen done, that this place should just be imploded. Please do not go there. This woman is so nasty, and her dogs are everywhere. I like dogs, but please don't bring them to work especially when you are doing so called skin care. This place is just a hair salon and does not carry good skin products. I have gotten real IPL before, what she did on my face, so called IPL is a joke and pure waste of money. She is just nasty. She did not even wash her hands when she touched my face. They don't even offer a robe. All the water was drooling on my shirt. This place is so loud too. Also she told me to come back for more skin procedure to remove any red spots on my face, but her face was with full of freckles. She needs to work on her face first. I thought about doing permanent eyeliner for years, but after being here on vacation and seeing myself with no makeup for two solid weeks, I found a 50% off groupon and spontaneously decided to do it! I researched the salon on Yelp and it got good reviews and I talked to the gal who answered the phone in advance. she said that Janet, who does the makeup is very good. i told Janet i was really nervous about doing it and she said, don't be nervous, she had done it for over 20 years, so that made me feel better. she showed me in the mirror exactly where the line would be on the eyelid (how far inside and how far out) and assured me she would do a very thin line as i requested. so she cleaned my eyes, then put some numbing agent on the lid line ( I didn't feel anything) and when she did the tattoo, it was like a buzzing on the eyelid, not really painful. it only took like 30 minutes for her to do both eyes, and I love it! It just makes my eyes pop a bit but really, i don't think you can tell I am even have it, unless you really look up close. I am really happy with it It is a natural vegetable based dye, should last 3-5 years. my eyes were a bit sore and red that night and the next day but today is day three and all the pain and redness is gone. She gave me ointment to help with the swelling and pain, and it helped. read more

Please do not go there! I used a Groupon for permanent eyeliner. I asked if it would be painful or there would be welling so I could plan my schedule accordingly. Janet insisted that her method caused no pain or swelling. WRONG! The procedure was very painful and I was swollen and bruised for days. And to make matters worse, both sides don't match, not even close. I could not leave the house and have had to wear sunglasses since I got the procedure for fear that people would see how bad I looked. I now look like a lopsided Elvira and have had to schedule a tattoo removal procedure with a plastic surgeon. This will be a very expensive Groupon costing me literally thousands of dollars, lots of pain and embarrassment. I bought a pair of non-prescription glasses to wear at work hoping no one notices how bad it is since the removal procedure takes several months. I am one who barely wears any makeup, she knew that. I got the groupon for one IPL facial and let me say that facial was awesome. The woman who did it was very kind, easy to talk to. She patiently explained the procedure and attempted to share the science behind it, but it sounded like she memorized a brochure rather than knew what was going on scientifically. No matter, she was sweet and gave it a shot. The facial & vitamin c treatment took about an hour and within 2 days, my pores were shrinking and my skin looked smoother. After 2ish weeks, my acne scarring (of which I have plenty) was fading and in some spots totally healed. I'm definitely going back for more! All I can say is never again. If your deciding on getting any permanent make up you should look somewhere else because this place is so unprofessional. So I decided to get my eyebrows redone and all I can say is worst experience ever. Janet is so unprofessional and she doesn't know what she's doing. She did not keep my shape and decided to make her own shape. Now my eyebrows are so uneven and certain parts of my eyebrows are shaded in different areas on both eyebrows. One side is darker than the other side. One side is higher than the other and one side is thicker than the other. So much regrets coming here. I also asked her if I could have a medium brown color but by the looks of it she made it black. It looks so disgusting. Also, my mother in law had an appointment right after me to tattoo her eyeliner. An she did such a horrible job. Her eyeliner dropped passed her eyelid and one side of her eyeliner is thicker than the other. She did the top and bottom and she rushed it because it took her only about an hour to do her eyeliner and this is for the top and the bottom now. So she called her and asked if there's anything she can do to take out the drip. So she tells her to come in on Wednesday May 7 at 9:30 am our appointment was on May 2. So May 7th comes and she gets there a little earlier than her appointment and Janet is walking out locking the door. It's a good thing because they got there just in time. Janet was saying she had an appointment she needed to attend. But why schedule an appointment with a customer if you have to do something. But from the looks of it she was trying to leave before my mother in law got there. An she looks at her eyeliner and says there's nothing I can do about it. Her eyeliner dripped on the side of her eyes and she said there's nothing she can do about it and that's it. She didn't even offer a refund or anything. I would give this place zero stars if I could. My permanent eyeliner is horribly uneven and crooked. The lines are thick in some places and thin in other places. I had multiple *eye infections * after going to this place and missed a lot of work. My eyebrow tattoo turned from brown to red quickly and is also crooked on my face. I have friends who went to various other places and their eyeliner and eyebrow tattoos are perfect. I am so embarrassed!! Also, she did not show up for one of my appointments and I was forced to reschedule after waiting there for an hour!! Also, when I tried to complain to her about my tattoo, she became very angry and was verbally abusive to me and both her and her daughter were swearing at me. I pointed out a spot that she missed the same day I had the eyeliner done and she said don't worry about it. Once the eyeliner started peeling it was ridiculously obvious. When I went back to get it fixed she tried to charge me more money even though she could have fixed it the same day I mentioned it!!!! Honestly I wish I did more research before going to Mimo Beauty Wear. It will cost me a lot of money to get this fixed. I read a lot of complaints about Mimo after my bad experience. I got referred/ HIGHLY recommended by Anuhea (Hawaii's very own singer/songwriter). I've always wanted to get my lashes done but never knew where until I saw Anuhea's post on Instragram. When I called I didn't get an appt right away, Jeannie was already booked (which is a good sign that she is busy = must be good). I was excited on my day appointment when I got there Jeannie was working on another client (she was getting a refill) when she came out of the room her lashes were beautiful and very natural. The client told me she has been seeing Jeannie for over 3 years (another good sign that she must be good).. When I got in the room she recommended silk lashes and the length. Since this was my first time I trusted her recommendation. Took about an hour for the whole procedure and drying of the glue. When I opened my eyes It was just perfect! I am addicted! I highly recommend you to see Jeannie.. I know Jeannie is the best, she comes highly recommended from other local celebrities. Since I've been going there for almost an year, I love going to Mimo's.. It such a warm relaxing "homely" feeling.. So I decided to get my eyebrows tattoo and my top lid done by Janet.. I LOVE IT!! At first It was a bit dark for me but Janet said "in 3-4 weeks it will get 50% lighter", sure enough in about a month it did.. Thumbs down for the permanent makeup! Her pictures are not good and the eyebrows look really fake. I still went ahead with the process. Told her that I had no experience and counted on her tell me what would look best, etc. Her feedback was very vague. I asked her if she was going to draw on the brows first to get the look and she said No and that all would be fine. Constant reassurance that she would do a great job. The final result, although it was fresh, was really dark, genie looking brows. One was more arched that the other, pointed at the ends without much taper to them (way too thin!) and the begin swept upwards like a genies brows! I made her fix the upward sweeping part - which she did. Commented about the thinness of the ends and she said it was Sexy. Uh, no. I also had the eyeliner done and that looked better, but there was never any discussion about my options for application. I am haole, so was it necessary to do my entire eye with liner? I didn't know, but she never gave me choices. Next thing I know, I have a dark thin black liner from corner to corner. Had I know what she could do, I would've done a filler in between my lashes instead at a more simple option to keep my look more natural. She told me that the color would fade, but I panicked. Couldn't sleep I was so worried that I would look like a clown! I was up in the middle of the night rubbing it off! I DO NOT recommend doing that either! Its not safe and apparently you can get an infection - I wasn't told that! I was wigging out about how my face looked! IN the morning I called her and told her that I was unhappy. SHE said that I needed to wait and that haole women are impatient about the process. In two weeks she would evaluate it with me and we can do something then! 2 WEEKS! Are you kidding me!? So I went to another, very reputable salon and they gave me a consult about my options. Luckily, they felt it wasn't too bad and the damage repairable. Well, partly because I rubbed the damage off! So I will go back to the new salon this Saturday to evaluate the progress of this mishap! Then return again in 1-2 weeks to see how I can make a permanent tattoo look more desirable! I do not and would not recommend getting any tattoo work done there! EVER! It don't care if you are haole, local, black, asian, etc. Bad photos of the finished product, no discussion about my options, no drawing to follow as a guideline, and no checking with the customer during the procedure to see if I am even happy as she does the work! I am now out $300.00, which is cheap, but for the hassle, I would pay more for a better finished product to be put on my face! IT's MY face!!!!! read more
