The comfortable spa table is prepped with a little steamer to get your face ready for treatment. The HydraFacial machine was explained to me. She also stated that if the process felt uncomfortable, I could alert her to adjust the pressure. The procedure helped to clean, exfoliate, and remove impurities from my skin. She then applied a serum of antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. The final application was sunscreen. While the untrained eye, probably couldn't SEE a difference after the HydraFacial, I could certainly FEEL the difference. Clean, fresh, and super rejuvenated! As a follow up, I came in for the Scultural Face Lift with Buccal Massage. This included lymphatic drainage (behind your ears) and microcirculation of my shoulders, neck, and jaw area. If you've never had a massage inside your mouth, try it! This helps to relax jaw muscles and many TMJ patients use this. Honey, you are worth it! Whether a special occasion or just because. They have many options in their menu of services. They also sell products to compliment all your skin care needs. God blessed you with the skin you're in, this is a great way to maintain it :)

Before I decided to give this place a try, I pored over reviews for 6 different businesses that offer facials. I read and re-read reviews for almost two weeks. Why? Because facials are not cheap and I'm very picky about who I allow to touch my face. Based on reviews, availability, and location (it's just a 15-minute walk from my apartment), I went with MK Skin Renew. I went with the hydrafacial + microdermabrasion + LED service because it seemed like the best deal. And I was not disappointed! The salon is super clean and neat, which is something else I look for because good hygiene and clean tools are crucial. Before Kyong even took me into the treatment room, she sat me down to give me an initial consultation. She took one look at my face and was able to catch and name all of my skin concerns like some kind of derma-psychic. As soon as I laid down on the treatment bed and Kyong started the microdermabrasion, I passed out. I woke up a couple of times to the sound of my own snoring. I've always been curious about what a hydrafacial is, but I'll have to wait and find out next time since I slept through it on my first visit. After the facial, I didn't get breakouts like I sometimes do post-facial. My pores looked smaller and my skin was clearer overall. Kyong showed me the products she had used on me and recommended that I purchase them. Not only is Kyong an expert esthetician, she's a smart saleswoman. She only uses and carries Skinceutical products which I've never tried before because of the sky-high price point. She recommended 5 products for me which, if I have to estimate, would have cost me $700-800. I bought one of the products because I've been desperately trying to lighten sunspots on my face, so I'm willing to pay for it. When I got home, I did some online research and learned why Skinceutical products are so expensive (they're apparently one of the innovative pioneers at the forefront of skincare). Something else that was validating was that Kyong does not mark up the prices of her products; she sells them at the same prices as what's listed on Skinceutical's website. It's been almost a week and my face still looks and feels as fresh as it did right after the facial. I definitely plan to go back in 4-6 weeks!

Best of all I actually saw immediate results from this one time series of treatments. Wrinkles and lines were less pronounced and my skin had a healthy glow. I highly recommend MK Skin Renew and intend to make an appointment with Kyong when we come back next Jan

So I was sure to clarify 20 additional units at $5 a unit. Total around $100(yes I did clarify $100). To which the injector said yes. When I walked to the front to pay I was told 3x that price, over $300. Obviously I was shocked and objected, but I was met with a condescending tone. I was told that there must have been a misunderstanding on my part and that I was told Botox units. Even though I was Sure I clarified the dose and pricing prior to injection. The women continued to repeat herself over and over in a rude manner stating there was nothing she could do and that technically I was given $5 a unit but for 60 units not 20. So beware they dose in Botox units no matter which product they provide to you and even if you clarify the price and dosing they will change it on you before you check out. This is deception marketing. This strategy is to confuse you and require you to do the math at bedside to figure out your actual cost. Huge disappointment. Extremely embarrassing situation that they exploited. This is suppose to be a treat.

There was a bit of a mix up but it worked out in the end. Pulled up to the driveway to the left of the store front. You have to pull up close to bar for them to open up automatically. There were no spaces available but an attendant came out to open up a spot coned off as I informed of an appt at K1. I walked through the lobby and made a right street side. I was the only client in. I was greeted and asked to pick a color up front. A selection of colors from natural tones to catseye and even organic for $5 more. I sat by the window where water, a phone holder, and candy treats were placed on a tray in front of me. Great comfy chair design where the sink pulls out from underneath the chair. Two ladies immediately got to work to remove my existing gel color with their power tool then buffed it out before apply this gel overlay. It was my first time getting this clear base apparently making your nail bed stronger. When I put my hand into the dry to cure it, it was a bit too hot. She adjusted it and asked me to pull my hand out if that happens again vs putting my hand all the way in. She mentioned my nail is too thin. But after my first coat of color, I didn't have any issues. She did a great job shaping my nail to a square rounded edges. There was no hand massage but not sure if it was an add on or not. However, my pedicure did come with it as I do remember selecting it during my Yelp request. She used a cheese grater to exfoliate (I am starting to think this is only available in Hawaii as other nail salons do the same). She did a thorough job with my cuticles, filing, ensuring there were multiple coats with each curing. I enjoyed my leg foot massage especially since I play so much tennis, 3 hrs the previous day, so it was a nice treat. The place was quiet and relaxing, unlike most salons I go to in Cali where it's always packed with chit chatting or nail techs speaking loudly to ea other that I can fully enjoy myself. The only usual experience was the whole time I was there, there another woman standing behind the woman doing my manicure. This woman just stood there the majority of the time just observing and didn't say anything. Not sure if she was supervising or learning. It was just....odd??? Overall, the experience was nice. Check out was easy. CJ was really helpful. Pay by Credit card or cash (no discount). I ended up paying cc and left a tip on there. If memory serves me correctly, a gel mani gel pedi with removal and organic nail polish and tax was around $157 plus a 20% tip ($31ish). Went ziplining today, the day after, and my nails held up well. Not a scratch. Would definitely come back again.

Taking a leisurely stroll around Maunakea Marketplace (because I had free street parking on a Sunday) my friend and I paused in front of Instyle Hair & Nails because the place didn't look busy and I had some time. There were a couple of staff sitting outside, taking a break, so, I approached slowly and said, "Pedicure?" I was cheerfully greeted and shown to a massage chair. The nice gal, Deb, placed a new plastic liner in the basin and started the warm water. She asked if it was too hot and adjusted the temperature. She started to help me (telling me the difference in price between regular polish for $30 and gel polish which lasts longer for $45), but another customer asked for her, so she switched me off to someone else. It's okay because the new gal (didn't get her name) was very careful and thorough. She took her time and did a good job! I sat for a couple of hours because I haven't paid attention to my feet for months. Haha! (I'm kind of a last minute, busy person and will get moving if I can't stand it anymore.) Anyway, here are my observations: Greeting regular customers is a good sign! The four female workers were cheerful and kind to everyone, especially kupuna! The hair stylist asked (in a nice tone of voice) how a certain customer wanted her hair cut and told her that next time - don't cut your hair yourself because you can't see behind your head (she cut her hair to her scalp!). The hairstylist explained politely to the customer about her unique needs and showed her options on how to style her own hair! That's good service! Another example: A little girl came in with her mom. The staff treated them really well. The mom asked for gel polish for the daughter and the staff said they cannot do it because it might burn her daughter's young skin - plus, her fingers and nails are still growing, so, it's not a good idea to put strong chemicals on the area. Wow! That's being responsible and honest! I think I spent over two hours here because the technician paid attention to my dry cuticles, cracked nail, and other issues. She verified the color of gel polish two times before application. Thank you! I was just going to give four stars, but after hours of hard work, the worker still gave me a mini leg/foot massage and brief hot towel to wipe off excess lotion on my legs! She didn't use pumice stone on me (maybe I didn't need it), but she did repeat the acetone/cotton/foil treatment to the stubborn nails several times - instead of using the electric file technique. I appreciate the gentle approach and will most likely return on a future Sunday!

I've been here a few times before but was so glad to come here recently. It has been so hot my daughter and I wanted to chop off some hair. They did a great job on my daughter's hair first, cutting off all her dead ends and "thinning" out her hair since she has so much of it. They then did the same for me, mine was much shorter though. Since we both have very wavy hair, they took the time to straighten our hair to make sure it was even which took a lot of time for them. I only paid $70 for both of us, considering how much attention they paid to us I do think that is a very fair price. Will be back in a year when I get tired of my hair again lol!

I was so excited for my appointment with Yuko. She was very welcoming and personable. She didn't just do what I asked, but discussed my shape, color, etc as well as expectations. I appreciated that she takes her time shaping the brows and waits until I am completely satisfied with the shape before she begins her magic. The ombre powder brow procedure itself was slihtly painful but Yuko made effort to minimize it. It certainly wasn't anything I couldn't handle. The entire process took about 2 hours and in the end I was smiling. I absolutely LOVE my new brows! She is worth the money. Her rate is much reasonable than other places, and she does a great job overall. I've gotten lots compliments already and it's so great to get up in the morning and not have to draw them. Yuko is amazing...I finally have eyebrows! I did both microblading & Ombré Powder brows. I have really fine hair to where it doesn't look like I have hair at all until you look really close or need a magnifying glass....hehehe I would have to fill in with makeup and it took forever trying to put it on and make it look perfect and natural but ever since Yuko did my eyebrows I don't have to do much or anything at all. Yuko is awesome! When I was first referred to her by a relative, I went to her to get my eyebrows microbladed because I have thin eyebrows from constantly plucking them in my high school years. I have always been self-conscious about my eyebrows being too thin so when I came to Yuko for help I was nervous. Not anymore! Yuko was understanding, did professional microblading, and I feel more confident than ever about my appearance. The whole experience was just wonderful. Her space is quiet and soothing and impeccably decorated. Tami quickly cleaned up and tinted my brows - I'm fair/blonde/blue-eyed so the color is always a bit tricky - too dark and I'm Clara Delevingne - too light and I'm, well, invisible brow woman. And I wear contacts so my attempts at "grooming" my brows is actually laughable. I've now got "brow style and color" that looks great all the time! I was so pleased with her brow work that I returned for the lash tint/perm - that's right - I went all out! It was definitely a new experience - lash perming! - who knew? But the end result is AMAZING. I've now got some dark long lashes, great brows and am really hoping she can tattoo my lips (just kidding - I think - is that a thing too?!)! I can now put my hair up and roll out the door in less than five minutes. I'm scheduling my ongoing standing appointments now!

I have been going to Shoko for my eye brows for a couple years now, and always recommend her to friends and family for many reasons. I have gotten my eyebrows done by others *ahem* that didn't know what the heck they were doing. I literally have walked out with 4 eye brows instead of 2 because they burned and pulled my skin off with the wax. Shoko has never gave me more eye brows that I wanted. Shoko makes me feel comfortable with all the options I could do with my eye brows. Eye brows are so important, it could make or break your face. Shoko always succeeds at making me look as natural as possible, which is the style I like. She even allowed me to bring my child with me because I don't have any child care help currently. That means the world to me as a new mom.

Her technique is free hand and no stenciling which I prefer personally since it doesn't make my brows look fake or over done. Of course like any semi permanent make up it'll look dark at first but it's normal during the healing process. After a week an a half my brows were ready. But I guess that also depends on your skin type and how you heal. I've done my initial and touch up procedure with Wendy and will be using her services from now on.. I also referred her to my sisters, mom, friends, family and co workers.. Additionally, She's just an awesome person! I literally never met her until my first appointment and it honestly felt like I knew her for a long time! She also makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed during the procedure.. She also follows up with you after every procedure. (Lastly) I almost forgot to mention how great her "consultant" is aka her mama! She has an eye for making the shape of your brows perfect!! When you come into the salon, head straight upstairs and her office is the one straight ahead. There is a table where you can lie on, and she will guide you through the kind of lashes you may want. They have lashes in different styles, the natural style, the sexy style, etc. I asked for the very natural looking lashes. As I like to wake up, looking like I have done my make up without doing anything, especially when I travel. That way I don't need to bring tons of make up and make up remover with me. The Lash Extension took a little over an hour, I felt comfortable and relaxed while listened to nice music. My lashes Extension was exactly what I was looking for, natural, lightweight, and looking great without putting on mascara, while avoid looking like a drag queen. Highly recommend.

She's always open to great conversation, but she also respects your comfort if you feel like taking a nap! Her touch is extremely gentle. Most times, you can barely feel her hands applying your lashes. She plays some quiet jazz music, perfect for relaxing as she does her magic. She works at just the right speed where your lashes are done in a timely manner, but you never feel like she's rushing through. The most amazing thing about Mami-san's lashes is that they LAST MUCH LONGER than any other place I've visited. I got my lashes a few days before a 2-week vacation, and I still came back with my set still in tact. Those babies held on through 4 countries, countless train rides, miles of walking, a 2-hour-long speed boat ride in the Atlantic, and up a giant mountain in the rain and wind. At times, the wind was so strong, I felt like they were going to fly off or that I would take off into the wind with them! They endured! Fantastic! I've been to a few other lash artists before, but I really do believe Mami-san is the best!
