There's street parking and parking behind the building. Their back entrance is all the way to right, under the burnt looking sign. It smells like shi shi back there, so I would suggest walking around the building to the front entrance. The drinks are very well crafted and tasty! The food is really good! Since my first review of this place, I've tried a couple other Taiwanese restaurants on island for the beef noodle soup but always find myself coming back to this hole in the wall spot for their tomato beef noodle soup! Recently they rebranded from dragon tea to Leilani taiwanese kitchen and I still find their broth to be just as homey and comforting as the first time I tried this spot. Paired with all the different toppings that they add to it, this is the closest thing I can find to the beef noodle soups that I've eaten in Taiwan years ago. Aside from the beef noodle soup, I love to also order their pan fried dumplings, popcorn chicken, and chicken skewers - honestly, I feel like you can't really go wrong with anything you get here! For drinks, my favorite is the honeydew slush drink, but their fresh milk drinks are also popular and not overly sweet, which I like (I'm just not normally a whole milk drinker so I don't choose this option much). Service is quick, you order at the counter and sit down or wait for your take out food. As for parking, there's a parking lot in the back of the building that they share with other eaters like the upstairs yakiniku spot, and rainbow's drive in but if that runs out, I either park in the extended lot right behind that lot, or on the street. For the price and quality, this place is hands down my favorite Taiwanese spot on island! I always rave about it with all my friends! I still wish Dragon Tea was still in Market City Shopping Center, so I'd be able to enjoy its variety of tea and fruit drinks, but also its variety of Taiwanese noodles, snacks, and other savory items. Just recently, Dragon Tea began offering BBQ skewers, which was enough for us to make our way to Kalihi! Dragon Tea is probably the first tenant to be in that newer building at the corner of Houghtailing and School St. It shares the same complex with Rainbow Drive In, Katsuriki BBQ House (formerly Gyukaku), and Aloha Cones. There's a parking lot in the back, accessible from Houghtailing. You can enter from the back of the building too! Quite convenient! The inside is quite spacious and clean with a decent amount of tables. I like the gray walls that make it look like cement or is it cement (with brushstrokes)? You order up front and pay first. There's a "30 cents" credit card fee, but I'm not sure if they meant 3 (per)cent. Not gonna find out. I get cash! We started with the Braised Dishes (Tofu & Seaweed). It came with seaweed knots, fried tofu, and black tofu that looks like stinky tofu. The seaweed was my favorite. Nice umami flavor. The fried tofu was delicious. Soft and just oozing with flavor. The "stinky tofu" looking one was actually quite good. It didn't taste or smell like stinky tofu, but it had a nice, subtle soy flavor with a hint of spice. For the skewers, we just went with beef. It was all right. The beef cooked a bit too long and became on the dry side, but they were larger pieces, so it was still tender inside. The spices didn't quite come through for me. There aren't too many skewer choices with lamb, chicken, wings, fish balls, hot dog, shrimp, and etc. with frog legs being a unique one. Prices are okay. Seems about the same as other skewer places. The Braised Tomato Beef Noodle Soup was good. Quite simple. The broth was hearty and clean with a nice amount of tomato flavor. Braised beef was tender, and everything just went well together with the tomatoes, radish, pickled mustard cabbage, and etc. The noodles boiled just right. Next was the Braised Pork Rice Noodle Soup. The broth was good in this one. Good clean, savory taste, but there was way too much noodles compared to the broth and other ingredients (three fish balls, shanghai bok choy, a spoonful of bean paste, and a scant amount of braised pork, which felt like boiled minced pork than braised). Since we were at Dragon Tea, we had to get a drink. The DT Brown Sugar Fresh Milk was really good. Creamy, milky, and with just the right amount of sweetness. Overall, this was a decent meal. It was very homey with the simple flavors, simple ingredients, and simple dishes. Location is convenient, and inside is comfortable. Service was good. Food came out quick. I came in through the back. Everyone was in the kitchen, I think they should get a bell. No one knew I was there until I started taking out my wallet and car keys. I came in a little hungry so I ordered the Milk Tea Special (which is their OG milk tea with herbal jelly and boba) and a side order of boiled dumplings in chili oil. I'd never heard of Dragon Tea until my coworker suggested we come here for an after-work pick me up. Their shop offers a mix of both traditional and unique milk teas, fruit teas, and specialty teas. They also serve Taiwanese street food, bentos, and noodles. Initially, I wanted a milk tea but the cashier told me they didn't have any dairy alternatives and only used cow milk (although it's non-dairy). So I decided to get a Peach Green Tea with Lychee Jelly and 25% sweetness. The drink was light, refreshing, and came with a lot of jellies. Aside from their Hot Drinks, all of their drinks only come in one size (large). They also offer a variety of toppings from your typical boba and jellies to chia seeds and white agar pearls. You're able to adjust your sweetness but be sure to ask the workers since they don't ask upfront. This spacious shop is located in the same complex as Rainbow Drive-In and Gyu-Kaku in Kalihi. A free and shared parking lot is available behind the shops and their bathroom is located outside. The inside of the shop is simple, quiet, and clean, with plenty of tables and chairs to sit at. We were the only customers inside so service was quick and our drinks were brought to us. The tea I got was good, but nothing special. I remember going to the Market City location years ago and had no idea what happened when it closed :'( yes I also had no idea about Yelp back then either. Fast forward to their current location in Kalihi *happy dance* on the corner of N School St and Houghtailing St with I'd say maybe 10 parking stalls in the back sharing with many other retailers so I'm sure it can get filled during peak times but is so conveniently appreciated. There is access straight from parking so you don't need to walk around to the front door. Walking in I love the simplicity look with an impressive amount of tables, what a great place to chill! What's more impressive is their menu...not sure if it's a restaurant or tea shop lol! With bentos and Taiwanese street food *YUM!* it was hard to keep focused but finally decided on two *Passionfruit green tea* and *Yakult Lemon green tea * I wasn't asked about ice and sweetness levels so I'm not sure if it's an option here but being that it was amazing. The YAKULT lemon green tea was my sip for tonight and I drank half before I left the lot omg, not too lemony with a delightful smooth flavor it was perfect. I had the BBq squid because it was unique menu item. I also wanted to try the braised pork and rice. It was by far the best entree I ordered. I got two buckets of chicken wings. They weren't all that bad to me but my family passed on them after tasting them citing they looked much better than they taste. The food in general had this strange taste that's very unfamiliar (not necessarily bad) to my palette. DONT take my word. Go try it for yourself. I would eat here again... in the restaurant.. The price on Uber (for delivery) came out to a little bit over $80. That's a bit pricey, but I was anxious to try because they've (Dragon Tea) put a lot of work into making their branding pop. Had mixed feelings about this place because we got a mango drink and a taro drink as well as pan fried dumplings from here. I asked the person who took my older whether the mango smoothie had any dairy and she assured us that there wasn't. I told her that my kid had an allergy and she assured us again that it wouldn't have any dairy. However, when my kid had some of the beverage, she had an allergic reaction and it caused her to have discomfort for about an hour. I don't know if cross contamination happened or the ingredients were not properly read but I was a little disappointed about this incident happening since I had triple checked whether or not there was the ingredient and made them aware of the food allergy. I'm not sure when this location opened, as I almost never drive around kalihi, but by the condition of the menus I think they've been around for awhile. Every drink was delicious and for a very reasonable price. The strawberry and honeydew were more like dessert drinks, pretty much smoothies. The milk tea special and the DT milk tea were both delicious, especially with the coffee jellies. They also sell Taiwanese type of food here too, but we didn't order any. Overall, we'll definitely be back for these delicious generous sized drinks for a good price. The staff are friendly and super fast. This little shop is located at the corner of Houghtailing and North School Street next to Kalihi Rainbows is and where Kam Bakery used to be located. 5/28/2020 COVID-19 VISIT It's been 3 years ago since we visited and reviewed Dragon Tea (DT) but that was when it was still located at Market City. Since then, they've relocated to the Kalihi neighborhood in the same commercial building with Rainbow Drive-In and Gyutaku on North School Street. There's a parking lot behind this building and access is from Waiakamilo Road just before the intersection at North School Street. We're not fond of milk, boba or fruit tea beverages but what brought us back to Dragon Tea is their menu of Taiwanese Street Foods, noodles, rice bowls and fried snacks. After reading reviews from fellow Yelp Friends, Lentina and Florelei, who spoke highly of DT's noodles and snacks, my stomach began growling like crazy even though I had eaten a nice full home cooked breakfast. I mentioned DT to my husband while showing him photos of DT's dumplings and noodle dishes. But, what caught my husband's eyes was their popcorn chicken. We called in our order and the young girl who answered the phone was friendly and repeated the order for accuracy. She informed me that it would take 15 minutes to prepare. No problem... it would take us about that long to drive over. It seemed that it took us a bit longer to get out from our building's parking structure as we rushed out to get our food. After parking our car, we walked into DT and found that all their chairs were atop their tables due to the current NO Dine-IN restriction. But, this place was clean, bright and not crowded. I gave the girl my name and phone number as confirmation for our order. She promptly went to the kitchen and came out with our order which was neatly packed in their styrofoam containers and we were glad they separated the broth from the noodles that we ordered. FOOD: -Braised pork rice noodle soup: The clear flavorful pork-based broth didn't have much meat in it but, you could taste its light meatiness and yet the broth was not greasy. The rice vermicelli was tender and became quickly flavored with the hot broth and fishcake balls. The noodles were plentiful and I'd order this again. $8.80 -Boiled pork and chive dumplings: We chose to have these dumplings boiled instead of pan-fried. Its savory pork and Chinese chive filling balanced the plain wheat flour wrappers. There was a slightly-vinegary dip included which we didn't use. We chose to use one of our Chinese hot sauces as a condiment instead. $9.80 -Popcorn chicken (Large): Crispy, juicy and flavorful chicken nuggets served with basil leaves filled a 16-oz container. Each chicken piece had a nice crisp crust but we were impressed with the flavorful 5-spices seasoning and moistness of chicken meat. The Large size was plentiful and I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. $9.80 Food quality and flavors were very good and their customer service was welcoming. Also I've seen the parking lot as well, they share it with rainbow drive in and gyukaku so I know it might just be a little hard going in if I'm coming from home. However that wont stop me from getting boba! I'm so excited to try their regular milk tea with boba because I see that's a more popular drink. The dumpling was really good! I was looking through the yelp pics, that's why I got it. Also because I was craving it. The sauce was super good! The only thing is the popcorn chicken should've came with some sort of sauce.
