legrand burger
Sarita R.

this place has been on my list to check out for a while now and i finally got the opportunity to indulge . i will start off with, the restaurant is a small, quaint place. but the vibes are there . i did find parking to be a little difficult, as it's really not much there onsite to park . when we walked in , we were immediately seated . the bar area was pretty packed . since we already knew what we wanted to order, we pretty much placed our orders immediately , and the food came out pretty quick . now, i've heard so many good things about their burger , & i will say ... it did not disappoint. i almost want to say it's an elevated version of a big mac , but ... that's really not doing it justice . i did ask to have the jalapeños on the side and i skipped on the onions , but i really didn't have to add anything additional to my burger . it was cooked to perfection. and i honestly didn't think i would eat the entire thing , but i fooled myself . it's honestly probably one of the top 5 best burgers ive had . i did end up ordering a drink , the smoke show, it wasn't the best drink ive had ... but i finished it. this is definitely a place i would return to check out other items on the menu .

Pork sisig
Romy C.

I'll start with our server Jenna, shes amazing the reason I'm giving 3 star. 1 the pork sisig is the first disappointment that I have. It didnt looks like sisig and didnt taste like sisig. Its more of korean bbq bulgogi but instead of korean sauce they put vinegar. I'll give 1 out of 5 2 the pork belly is okay more of fat than meat. 3 of t 3 the oysters, gosh didnt even put lime on the side. Taste is so so. 3 of 5 4 the lamb, the lamb is self is good, soft, tender even the beans have nice flavor. 4of 5 The place is nice and clean. Only problem is parking

This is a pork belly special Le Grand created from locally sourced Twisted Willow Farms paired with fresh yuca fries.

I've always been a fan of the exiting plates that come out of the Le Grand kitchen. This is their most recent beauty, a nice fried pork belly slice paired with fresh yuca fries. Service is always impeccable and a great environment to dine in.

Cheeseburger with a side of potatoes au gratin.

LeGrand's subtle exterior hides a real jewel. At the recommendation of a local, I stumbled upon LeGrand for the burger. The very next day, I was back for the the burger with a side of potatoes au gratin (dauphinoise), oysters Rockefeller, and the key lime pie. From the cocktails to menu, everything exceeded my expectations. Great service, friendly staff, and an eclectic menu featuring a lamb ragu, which I will be back for. Adam, the mixologist, currated an experience that is unlike any other eatery I've experienced in Norfolk.

I absolutely love the decor. We sat at the bar and had some amazing cocktails from the great bartender, they rotate but I had an "old fashioned gin" which was to die for as a gin lover. The food was so good I'll be back when we're on this side of town!

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Hampton Roads/VB/Tidewater area. You must go. At our second visit the food, service, and vibes were all immaculate. Their burgers are crave worthy. The portions are perfect and dishes are well seasoned and balanced. They take humble cabbage and turn it into my go-to appetizer. Everything we've tasted is elite, including the house and classic cocktails. The restaurant is small and intimate so reservations are recommended. Get the burger. Get a cocktail. DEF get the cornbread pudding dessert. Hell get anything, it all slaps. I'll be back! (Weekly)

Halibut with rice grits and winter squash, rack of lamb with French lentils and olives

Once again, the Le Grande team never disappoints!! We went in for their Valentine's Day menu and started with an insanely unique beef tartare, with fish sauce, cilantro and mint, crushed peanuts, and prawn crackers. It was awesome! Dinner was halibut and rack of lamb, both of which were so perfectly cooked. The portions are generous without sacrificing any flavor or technique. We wished we had room for their to die for cornbread pudding, but we were stuffed and happy. Probably my favorite spot in Norfolk!!

ABC license in hand brought a full house on Sat pm. Fortunately, they accommodated our party of 4 as a walk-in. Paper plane drink was sneaky good. Oysters, beet salad, and pimento apps were all 5/5, especially getting them fresh. Of course, my wife and I enjoyed burgers while friends opted for Halibut and Steak entrees, both "killer." The potato cake, served as a side with the steak, was mysteriously shaped but had an earthy, smokey flavor; texture was like tater tots. The meal didn't disappoint, neither did the service. Gender neutral restrooms in close proximity to our high top table. Also had a view into the kitchen and the bar. They were both jumping! FYI, oto park in their lot and neighboring law office or school lots. See you all next time!

Duck breast with roasted summer squash, crispy polenta, goat cheese, and blackberry demi glace
Zen X.

For the entree, I had the duck breast with roasted summer squash, crispy polenta, goat cheese, and blackberry demi-glace. For dessert I had cornbread pudding with toffee sauce, whipped cream, and candied pecans. The entree was great except some of the duck fat was chewy, but that's where all the flavor comes from! The dessert was interesting and different. It wasn't like pudding at all, but more like a sweet and soft corncake. Skip the steak and crème brûlée; you can get those anymore. Try the duck and cornbread pudding! They won't disappoint!

bread and butter!

this place surprised me in a multitude of ways. It felt like I was walking in to someone's grand living room and kitchen, and the ambience was elegant, but welcoming at the same time. The food is cooked right in front of you snd there are options for both vegetarians and vegans. This made me very happy because everyone told me they are only known for their burgers, but I got to ordered delicious bread, salad and roasted vegetables all of which came out amazing. Even their dessert was extraordinary. I wish they had more options for non-alcoholic drinks since I don't drink, but that was the only part of the meal that disappointed. Great service and will definitely be going back!

Cornbread Pudding

Ever had a burger made from the gods? The burger was born deep from within the recesses of American Mythological Conquest. One which Steve from LeGrand valiantly returned from bearing the fruit of his conquest. Everything on the menu is fantabulous and Norfolk is lucky. Also, the cornbread pudding is straight from cornbread mythology as well.

Absolutely the best spot for delicious food. It's my go to spot for date night. Highly recommend the burger, and anything with pork belly will leave you drooling for more!

Fresh catch of the day
Latifah A.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with such delicious food in the neighborhood! The ambiance is unassuming of the quality of food. Casual vibes, high standard dishes. The scallops and fresh catch of the day was phenomenal. Service wasn't memorable.

Cheese and bread is literally all you need. It is creamy, soft, and melts in your mouth. The herb seasoning is so delicious. We also got The Forget About It" Figata sandwich. Again, amazing. The prosciutto is very tasty. The focaccia is seasoned well and always made fresh. The bread is truly the perfect texture. Again, the cheese is amazing. The ambiance truly feels like a local Italian spot. They decorated the place well with lemons and herbs. I love that they put pictures of the foods on the wall next to the menu. The service is great! Wonderful people who run the place, and they are so friendly. Overall a delicious spot that everyone must try, especially if you're going to the Chrysler for a show!

I chose the Becca Burger, without mushrooms and their Steak Diablo Fries. They make everything fresh, to order with fresh ingredients. The burger was clearly freshly hand-packed, the jalapeños were freshly sliced, not pickled. Since they make it all fresh, you might wait a few minutes longer than the typical burger joint, but that's fine considering the amazing eats you're about to enjoy. My burger came out looking beautiful and it was definitely sitting tall! The flavor was excellent! Meat was great too!! I definitely liked having their chipotle mayo on it!! Those steak Diablo fries were incredibly tasty, with a nice kick, but sooo much more flavor than heat! The fries themselves were great, perfectly crispy and tasty, but adding all those toppings truly made it special! Service was nice... I had a few questions and she was helpful with the answers. This local favorite has maintained a loyal following since opening its doors in 1987, and after one visit it's easy to understand why. Having grown up in Norfolk, I still make the trip over from Chesapeake from time to time because some places are simply worth returning to. Our favorite bartender Lauren is always friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu suggestions if you're undecided. She also happens to make a fantastic drink, which certainly never hurts. My wife ordered the Sesame Shrimp Salad consisting of fried butterflied shrimp, organic mixed greens, fresh vegetables, mandarin oranges, crispy wontons, and their house Red Dragon dressing. The presentation alone was impressive, but the flavor balance is what truly stood out. In fact, she enjoyed it so much that I never even managed to get a taste myself, which is saying something. I decided on the Shrimp Platter and the portion size alone was enough to get my attention. The shrimp were fried to a perfect golden brown, served piping hot, and properly seasoned throughout. The crinkle-cut fries delivered that ideal contrast of crispy exterior and soft potato center, while the coleslaw brought a refreshing balance of sweetness and acidity that tied the entire plate together beautifully. No Frill continues to prove that you do not need unnecessary gimmicks when the food, service, and consistency speak for themselves.
