I found Legacy Tailor through a friend and am so happy with the recommendation. Nagwa does phenominal work. I have a long torso and short legs so it's hard to find the right fit in most formal wear. I had an unflattering bridesmaid dress, with some crazy detailing, that I needed hemmed and pulled in in odd areas. Nagwa worked her magic and got it done. I have been using Legacy Tailor since 2007. I was passing by one day going to Sprouts and happened to see the sign. I stopped by but they were closed for vacation. This was in July, 2007. The sign stated they would return at the end of the month. The beginning of August, I went back and took a couple of outfits. When I returned to pick them up, Nagwa had done such an incredible job that I went home and brought back 6 more the following day. She is the best Tailor I have found yet in Dallas or Plano and I have lived here for 50+ years. She altered my wedding dress which had to practically be remade as it was much too big. She only had about 5 weeks to do this and she did an outstanding job. She called me for each fitting which was 2 plus the final fitting. I could not have been more pleased. My mom always told me that you get what you pay for so if you don't want a real Tailor, then don't go to her. She is a real Tailor. She and her husband are both personable and very kind. She explains everything she has done with respect to your alterations before taking your money. If she ever moved away, I don't know what I would do. I was so disappointed in the bustle for my wedding dress. It barely held through the ceremony and all the buttons popped off by the end of the night. Not only did it not hold for an even an hour, it looked terrible with large clear buttons that stuck out and the bustle was not lined up straight. I would not recommend this tailor for your wedding dress bustle as it truly made for an inconvenient evening carrying around my long train.. dont worry though, my wedding was still amazing, just chose the wrong tailor. read more

They redid my daughter's heavily beaded prom dress and pieced together the hem to recreate the original scalloped edge all on a rush job and after we had brought it home the first time...all to accommodate my daughter, who had changed her mind about the length of her dress. I've been meaning to write a review for this place but am now just getting around to it. Came here per recommendation from a fellow yelper, not really expecting too much. All I wanted was a tailored dress without too much muss or fuss. So I brought my $200 Ann Taylor vintage lace dress in hoping to get it tucked in. I will say that at first the lady who owned the place didn't seem too friendly. But her wall is plastered with all these beauty queen photos that thanked and commended her for all her work. So I figured it was okay. Right off the bat, she knew that it would not just be a simple tuck in - there were other alterations that needed to be done to get the fit that I wanted and that impressed me because it was clear that she knew what she was doing. She was very upfront about pricing so there was no surprises the day of pick up. When I came back to pick up my dress, the lady was just the sweetest thing ever. I'm assuming that this is normally how she is I probably caught her on a bad note the first time around. Either way, I loved the work she did. The dress fit me perfectly. I think I had lost more weight in the 2 weeks that she had time to alter the dress than expected that I'll probably have to go in and get in tucked in some more, but her work is pretty darn good. Clean stitching and you can't even tell that she moved the zipper of the dress over a few inches. read more

I just got back from our honeymoon (and was writing reviews of my vendors), and I thought I should let everyone know about a problem that I had with my dress that really hindered my ability to enjoy my wedding reception (that I spent more than $50,000 on). I was referred to Legacy Tailor by Pure Luxe Bridal to alter my wedding dress. I paid more than $600 for alterations + around $60 for steaming of the gown the week prior to the wedding. My wedding coordinator (who has been doing this for decades) bustled my dress (American bustle) after the ceremony; and, about an hour later, the bustle fell apart because several loops broke (I paid for 9(?) loops - those were not cheap, either). So, I was unable to dance (or barely walk) during my wedding, which really put a damper on how much I could enjoy my ceremony, because I was sitting the entire time as a result. Further, I was told by the alterations woman that the dress material "would stretch" within 20 minutes or so of wear. Needless to say, this did not happen, and I was extremely uncomfortable throughout the evening. The dress was so tight that it left bruises and I was unable to breathe throughout the entire day. However, the bustle is the primary issue in this case. I'm not sure what happened, but after spending such a large amount of money per bustle LOOP, these loops really should hold the train of a wedding dress up. They were not very responsive to my emails and did not care much about my problem. I sent several pictures, and although I live less about 30 minutes away, they gave me less than 24 hours notice to bring the dress in for "examination". Not professional. Take your investment elsewhere. read more

I grew up spoiled in terms of dry cleaning and alterations. My parents own a dry cleaners so my mom dry cleaned and altered my clothes for me until I moved away. So I have no clue what would constitute a fair price on alterations. Legacy Tailor charges $13 for for pants and jeans; $15 if you want the original jean cuffs kept on. I took in 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of slacks. Nagwa (the owner) was super friendly and nice. My slacks were reduced perfect! The jeans were bit too long. I had brought in a sample pair to match. I brought the jeans back and Nagwa gladly offered to redo them. I'l be picking the jeans back up in a couple days and will see how they turn out. Nagwa also alters dress shirts which is cool. I think she said it's $20 to tuck in a shirts. I have some shirts which are too large on me so I may bring in a shirt or two. read more

The fastest/ efficient service I have ever received from a Tailor! Y'all check them out if you ever need any alterations

I was referred to use Legacy Tailor from the store where I bought my wedding dress - Winnie Couture. When I called to make the appointment I was met with a monotone voice that sounded like they had no interest in anything I was saying, no clue who Winnie Couture was, and gave no detail about what my appointment would be like, what to bring or the overall alternation process. I showed up with nothing my first appointment, when I should have brought my shapewear and shoes. After this experience I called other tailors and they ALL mentioned that when I inquired. Back to Legacy Tailor: when I physically arrived for my appointment a few weeks later, that same person was at the front desk when I walked in. Did she greet us (my mom and I)? No Did she help me get into my dress? No Did she have any energy or manners? Absolutely no. She was as cold as ice. No expression, no interest, no respect. Now on to the actual appointment-monotone lady didnt help me get into my dress at all, let out a sigh when I asked for assistance, and didn't even zip me up...she also closed the filthy door on my train. (the floors and rooms are absolutely filthy) She seemed annoyed to say the least. I was confused...I thought this place specialized in wedding dresses...with that said I would expect it to be standard to help brides into their dresses if need be, just like when I went trying on. I would have also expected the fitting rooms to be bigger and cleaner. The bottom of my dress and garment bag are FILTHY. Luis is what gives my review 3 stars and maybe 1/2 a star extra for Ryan's calm demeanor, but he too is part of the problem. If he is the owner, I hope this review is a wake up call. You need to raise the standards of the facilities and trains our staff to have better demeanor or put them in the back where they dont interact with customers. It's such a turn off...I almost didn't want to go back because of her. Luis was the saving grace. He was patient, sweet and seems to have done a good job. With the stress and chaos of planning, I hope i didn't miss any details. BIG PIECE OF ADVICE: check every detail, ask for EXACTLY what you want, and absolutely DO NOT trust that anyone is going to do what they claim they would. The customer service industry in general is essentially non-existent. Long story short, I paid $700 for a basic hem, and taking in some satin on the bodess. I also had my bolero sleeves shorted- this job was likely not done by Luis. It was sloppy, expensive, and they gave it back DIRTY. When I brought this to Ryans attention he tried to get me to dry clean it...yes ME! When I brought him my dress, bolero and garment bag in pristine condition. The bottom of my dress is dirty and who knows what the details look like that I haven't had a chance to inspect. Why would I pay to have something cleaned that I didn't dirty?! Moreso- why were these basic alterations so expensive? They take advantage of brides and anyone going to a wedding. Tell your mom not to mention being a MOB or MOG. I guarantee the quote will be less and likely can be done next day. Two men brought in slacks to have hemmed and they were quoted $15 each and told it would be done the next day. If you have basic alterations DO NOT ACCEPT the weeks to complete and high prices. This is outrageous! They're taking advantage of brides and they're not the only ones. To add: they also did a SLOPPY job on my moms dresses. They charged her an outrageous price for a sloppy hem and taking in of the shoulders that was unecessary...thanks to monotone for a sloppy job causing my mom to have to travel back a third time from 30 mins away. She was also met with contempt when she brought back the poor craftsmanship to monotone, and Ryan stood there like a sheep. Not sure if that's his mom or wife or something, but he's got to be oblivious, enabling, or high to not see her horrific attitude. If I could do it all over again I would not go to Legacy Tailor and would go to a real bridal dress alteration specialist. Best of luck to my fellow brides, it's not as easy as people think to do all of this regardless if you have people helping you! read more

I just took a bridesmaids dress here a few weeks ago because I thought it would be cheaper then David's Bridal. To get my $150 dress altered was $175!!! I was blown away by the price but decided I didn't have the time to go to another location to go through another fitting. When I picked it up they had missed one of the alterations, the hook that was out to cover cleavage was poorly done and showing and then they didn't press any of the dress. It looked wrinkly and horrible. Took it back to fix the hook and missed alteration. Picked it up 3 days later and the hook was still showing and they said there was nothing they could do. I was so disappointed with the whole experience. For $175 in alterations I expected a lot more. read more

So i made an appointment and Nagwa and helper did the alterations on my mother of the groom dress. She did a beautiful job!! I received so many compliments all night long! It looked custom fitted! I was referred to Legacy Tailor by Terri Costa, where I bought my wedding gown. I bought a sample gown, and it was much to small. I needed them to install an entire corset back. The results were incredible! My dress is a blush color, so I know it was not easy to match, but the corset matches exactly. The dress now fits like a glove. It cost me $162, which is an incredibly good price for the work that was done. They were upfront with cost and there were no surprises at pick up. The only reason it is not a five star rating is because they quoted a really high price for their American Bustle. I am taking it somewhere else to bustle. read more

Nagwa is the tailor Goddess! I have been taking my pageant wardrobe and every day clothes to her since 2006 and she has done a fantastic job every single time. She's extremely kind, tentative, and truly listens to what you want. Whenever I need a gown altered for a pageant, I always take it to her. She even altered my custom Sherri Hill gown and it looks amazing. One time, she completely revamped a dress I bought by turning into a sweetheart neckline and custom stoning a design on the bust. I bring her the most difficult to fix dresses. She's even shrunken a Size 8 gown to a Size 00. I have the most well-fitted and perfect wardrobe thanks to her! I've lived in Plano for 15 years and used Legacy Tailor many times. It had been 5 years since the last time I'd been there. I was delighted to find that the shop and the same owner were still there. She is meticulous with her work, fairly priced and very good at figuring out where to alter clothing so that the shape and fit are just right. Definitely recommend. I've used other tailors and been disappointed with the results. With this shop, I am always impressed. I just picked up some clothes and the owner actually did MORE then she promised. I was surprised to see a negative review. I'm wondering if that person confused this shop with the one across the street that does shoe repairs and tailoring. This shop is amazing! Nagwa the tailor is so talented and very professional and fast. She finished the alterations on my wedding dress in about two weeks. She added everything I needed including sleeves, a back, beading, and fixed the hem of the dress, all in a beautiful fashion. Also she did a beautiful job on an additional gown we had. I absolutely love my experience there! I brought my wedding dress in to get a part taken off and basically reconstruct some. They exceeded my expectations! They were professional, friendly, direct and knew just what they were talking about! She added a bustle to my dress because it did not have one, and wow oh wow I couldn't be happier! After reconstructing the front, cutting off some layers and adding the bustle, my dress was everything I dreamed off! I told you "You should have made the dress yourself!" I was thrilled and did not want to take it off. Really bad exprience... I brought in three items to get tailored and only one of them was done correctly. All I wanted was a snap on a shirt moved two inches and they totally ruined it! I can't say enough good things about Legacy Tailor!! The owner helped me alter three of my wedding dresses! Yes I said three! I couldn't decide on which one I wanted to wear. The owner was so patient with me as the two months of alterations went by. I continued losing weight, and she continued bringing in my dresses! I was so fortunate to find someone that was not only so nice and accommodating, but so skilled at what she does!! All of my bridal party used her as well, and were very happy with their alterations!! I called ahead to confirm the hours that they are open at Legacy Tailor. When I arrived, there is only one person who answers the phone, pins garments and runs the cash register. There were 6 customers waiting in line to speak with this one employee. Since this employee was doing EVERYTHING, it was a bit of a wait. I didn't feel sorry for the person who worked there. They could hire additional help to answer the phones & schedule appointments. Or better yet, have one of the employees in the back answer the phone to schedule appointments. I saw at least 5 employees working in the back! Maybe one of them should answer the phone to schedule appointments. I did feel sorry for the young woman/customer who just stood there in her wedding gown waiting for the solo Legacy employee to get off of the phone scheduling other brides' appointments. I'm sure that bride who had to wait was uncomfortable at being ignored while the scheduling of other brides was being discussed on the phone. That doesn't make anyone feel special when they are being ignored.....especially since she had made an appointment too. Appointments don't mean anything if other business interferes with your scheduled time. Legacy Tailor claims to pay attention to details. They brag about the work they do for Miss Texas or Little Miss Texas or Mrs. Texas.....the list of crowned "royalty" is lengthy. Plus, the photos of all of the pageant winners are displayed on the wall as you walk into the shop. However, I asked them to do one thing & only one thing with regards to my alterations. Legacy Tailor ignored that one request. Either they are too busy to pay attention to details or maybe the reason that my one request didn't register with Legacy Tailor is because I forgot to wear a tiara that day. Maybe you have to be Miss (fill in the blank) in order for Legacy Tailor to pay attention to you! At any rate, I WILL NOT BE BACK! read more

I went with legacy tailor since it was recommended by the dress shop I purchased my MOH dress from. I called and asked for an appointment and they were able to accommodate me the same day. I asked lady that completed my fitting for straps (It was a strapless dress). I wanted straps that were an inch or 2 thick. She kept insisting that I use the straps that came with the dress (super thin). She said it would be cheaper. I told her no, I was ok with the price for the straps I wanted (at least an inch thick and sewn in). When I went to pick up my dress, I asked if I should try it on and they said no so I took it home. The wedding was only 4 days later. They did not provide the straps I requested. They altered the thin ones that came with the dress and didn't even sew them in. In addition, there were multiple pulls at the top of my dress. It's my fault I should have checked before I left. I will not make that mistake again. I would not recommend them and will not use them again. read more

I was sent to Legacy Tailors by Winnie Couture after getting my wedding gown in (which had been ordered to be "custom made" and fitted just for me) as well as paying a rush fee to get the gown to me in time. I paid so much money, well over my original budget but thought it would all be worth it getting a gown that was designed and fitted just for me! Well needless to say when I got the dress it was far from that and was sent here to fix there mistakes. I was very nervous and stressed but now that it has all been resolved I am so thankful for Legacy Tailors I feel as if they actually gave me my custom dress! From the minute I walked into her shop she was completely honest with me and told me all the work that the dress needed it was SO MUCH WORK and very little time, she didn't hesitate to get it all done and went above and beyond to make me happy! She had me go in very frequently for fittings and continued to perfect it for me. She even suggested some additional changes to enhance the look and didn't even charge me for the additional changes! She ended up changing the position of the belt and adding to it, she really knows what she is doing and just wants to make you happy and look your best!! She added a bustle to my dress and it is just fabulous! I am a pretty petite girl so really wanted my dress super fitted and every time I went in she had it a bit more fitted but was always very honest with me letting me know that this fabric would not stretch and she just wanted me to sit and move comfortably. Several times she made adjustments right in front of me! She is so sweet and amazing at what she does, such honest and talented people are rare now days so I would def recommend Legacy Tailors I now joke and say I have a Custom Legacy Tailor gown being how they are the ones that pretty much reconstructed the entire thing! I came to this tailor 2 years ago to get my wedding dress altered. The only thing I noticed from then is that that the lady (her name is najwa) had a really bad attitude but I also thought she was having a rough day so I let it go. This past weekend I recommended her to my sister to her to get her dress altered since I remembered she did a good job. When we came in to the shop, like others she has pictures of all these pageant queens on her wall thanking her for a great job that she does, the only other thing I instantly noticed AGAIN is that she had a really bad attitude. While she was working with my sister, my sister informed her she needed a couple things done with the dress, (example, add straps to the dress, take in from the sides and shorten the train from the back of her dress). When my sister asked about the price she said we will talk about it after you change. When my sister went back to her dressing room she noticed one side of the dress was longer than the other. It was pretty obvious because I noticed it too. When we asked the lady she just said I will make it 1 inch longer without moving the pins around or anything or closely looking at it. Later, when my sister finished we asked her about the price and she wanted an outrageous amount. My sister told her that's fine since my sister recommended you too me than I will pay. On a side note, a customer walked in while my sister was in the fitting room, she wanted something altered and the lady told her to wait and she did and DID NOT CHARGE HER plus picked it up while waiting.. OKAY???Today my sister called her to ask her a question about the dress and they were not picking up the phone, mind you they have been open for 30 minutes. As soon as I called from a different number she instantly answered her phone. I informed her who I was on the phone and my sister was going to stop by today for something, before I can finish she FLIPPED OUT and said come pickup the dress AND I am sick and tired of going back and forth. REALLY?????????????????? Going back and forth with what???? I have never seen any worse customer service in my entire life. All I have to say is that I will never recommend her to anyone. I had a pair of pant needs to be prolonged and I found this tailor locates close to my house. So I went to her first and honestly, I wouldn't see myself go anywhere else coz I thought I was just asking for a very common service from a specialist. I was, however, deeply DISAPPOINTED and INSULTED by this tailor! She basically treated me like I owed her money (instead of a first-time-visit customer) and can't wait to collect it from me. She first explained how she's going to fix my pant (of course, in a unfriendly manner as well), then she THROW her little invoice booklet in front of me to show the price. Before I even understand what exactly happened, she declared " YOU PAY", with her finger pointed at the price. I felt insulted and I decided to pick up my pant and leave the place. Before I opened the door, I turned my back and thought it still would be nice to let her know why I am upset and I said "it was because I don't feel friendly here".
