I'm updating my review after having my solar nails for a full week. I am really disappointed because mid week I started to notice that the back of a couple of my nails looked cloudy and after a few more days my nails started to lift. At this point I have 6 of my 10 nails that are lifting from the back and I'm just now going into my second week. I understand that mistakes can be made and one visit shouldn't be enough to really tell the quality of the salon or talent of the employees, but at this time, because of how my experience initially started when I walked in, I will go ahead and try a different salon. read more

Currently waiting to get my nails done I came in 10 minutes early to pick a color so I was on time for my 4:00 pm appointment. I had tried calling earlier in the day to make a earlier appointment but no one answered their phones for 2 hours . I couldn't even leave a message because their mail box was full. It is now almost 5 o'clock which is when they happen to be closing today and no nail technician has even greeted me . Absolutely unexceptional . I can understand being busy but I have seen two walk ins come in after me for waxing and somehow someone is available enough to do that but not take an appointment? read more

I went to the salon today after not being there for a few years, they have remodeled and the nail technician, Joanne was exceptionally friendly. She did really great work and I really felt that she appreciated my business, which was not always the case before. I'm glad to see they have turned things around there. read more

i paid $43 dollars for gel acrylics and this is what i got. i would not recommend this place to anybody.

I have spent many years getting my nails done and this is by far the worst salon I have every been to. I got a full set of liquid gels. Price was listed at $38 but was never informed that there was an extra $7 charge until I paid. TWO days later one nail chipped off more really no reason (I'm a stay at home mom, I'm not rough on my nails). I went in the next day as soon as they opened and they fixed it but literally with in hours another one was broken. Within two days another. I have always gotten liquid gels in the past and they were so strong they had to be drilled off. Definitely a waste of the $45 plus $10 tip. I have been shopping around for a nail salon since I moved to Frederick and I will definitely never step in Lee Nails doors again. I might as well just throw my money away, it's pretty much the same equivalent. read more

I've been a customer for five or six years and have never had a bad experience although I DO prefer some nail technicians over others. The salon certainly smells like what it is, but I don't find it overwhelming. Communications can sometimes be trying but I rarely ask for anything out of the ordinary. The only thing that I find missing is a rate schedule. It may be there, but I've never seen it. For instance, I've been getting gel on my nails and was not aware that it was costing me an extra $20. I've paid as much as $88 plus $20 tip for a mani/pedi and that's become too rich for my wallet so I'm going to forgo the gel. Otherwise, I'm a happy customer and if you're on the fence about going to Lee Nails on Kingfisher it's certainly worth giving it a try. read more

Lee Nails is hands down the best nail salon in Frederick! They are very organized, they know what they are doing and the staff always makes you feel special. The space is serene, inviting, and clean. Top of the line massage chairs while you enjoy a pedicure. My 8 year old daughter and I always ask for Bin, she is amazing and always makes my daughter and I feel special. I haven't had a bad experience yet and I've been a fan for 1 1/2 years. read more

I paid $60.00 for the powdered gel nails which is expensive. I told the lady I wanted white tips and when I noticed she wasn't doing that I said something she was very rude and started yelling in Chinese. She didn't say two words to me the whole time I was there. Before I left I pointed out that it didn't go all the way to the cuticle and she Grinned off the powder and I had just my nail with no color she claimed there was nothing wrong until my friend said something. After throwing her stuff down She fixed only one nail and my nails look awful I have never been disappointed with my nails at any other salon. I've been here 2 or 3 times (I get my nails done sometimes when my boyfriend's getting a haircut) and the staff is nice and polite but every time I leave here I feel like they didn't do their best. This last time especially, I asked for a specific shape with my nails and I they just came out looking very half-assed. If I could give a negative review I would! We arrived at 5:10 had an appointment for a pedicure at 5:15. No one greeted us. We chose our color and sat for a good 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. At about 5:30 they finally called us back. We sat in the chair for another 15 minutes. Again no one acknowledged us or apologized for the wait. We finally decided to leave and barely got an apology leaving. I don't even think they noticed we left. Very very disappointed. A friend and I met here for pedicures. I have had pedicures at salons all over Frederick and I had heard good things about Lee. They were very busy which would not have been a bad thing except: 1. The technician changed the color polish I picked because she said the color I picked would require 3 coats and she only wanted to do 2 coats. This has never happened to me, ever. 2. I failed to tell her that I have a small allergy/sensitivity to peppermint. She put peppermint lotion on my legs and went to get hot towels. When she returned, I simply asked her to rinse my legs before applying the towels to remove the peppermint. She proceeded to use the towels to wipe the cream from my legs and then wrapped the same peppermint soaked towels around my legs! Now, I understand being busy as I also work in the service industry. I assume that if they were not as busy she would have taken the time to give me 3 coats of color and gotten fresh towels. However, I still payed the same price for my service. So, I expect the same quality of service regardless. read more

I have bee a few times -if I get a mani pedi I find I have a much better experience than when I just get a manicure. I do not were artificial or get nails due to my job regulations. As soon as they hear that I am not going to be upsold to a gel or artificial I am treated as if I am not worth their time. My recommendation-if just getting a traditional manicure go elsewhere if getting a mani pedi or other more expensive treatment go for it. I had actually gone in to recieve both a manicure and a pedicure but in the end only had the pedicure. There was certainly a language barrier and though I intended only to get a basic pedicure, I ended up with a spa which cost more. I was immediately assigned a seat but waited at least 15 minutes before the pedicure started. I did not feel comfortable and will certainly go elsewhere in the future. For those attending the first time, I would recommend getting both the pricing and correct naming of the services provided. As someone else stated, very disappointed. read more

If you're trying to get your nails done I would definetly go here. I made an appointment at 6:30 we were suppose to be next but I nderstand that you get busy. We were told that we had to wait 1 hour even though we were suppose to be next. I made this apointment 2 weeks ago and called twice to make sure that I would be 6:30. We waited an hour and they weren't even ready yet. I was seen at 8:00 and didn't get finished until 9:30pm. I get that they get busy but walk-ins vs. appointments is unnecessary and I wished that they would have taken the appointment like it was booked. read more

Alright, so I get my nails done here (full set with gel polish) in May on a Thursday for my best friends wedding which I am the maid of honor in. I told the nail tech three times that this one nail was crooked and looked weird but finally was just like whatever, it'll do and left with the crooked nail. I come back about 3 weeks later to get a fill in. The next nail technician asks me "where did you get these done?" I say here....she's obviously disappointed with my nails and asked who did them was it a full set etc....I'm like "I don't know....she's not in here right now but yes full set from here". She continues to grab my nails and show them to her colleague and speak in a different language to her while holding my hand and pointing at my nails. I am assuming they are conversing about how bad my nails look. She says next time come to me so I don't have to redo them. Okay sure. I go back today to get a fill in. Didn't see the lady who did them last time and didn't want to wait so I go to a new tech. This guy again asks me "where did you get your nails done?" HERE. The answer is here. I get them and have always gotten them done here literally since high school so ten years give or take. He finishes them and they look absolutely awful. They are lumpy and poorly shaped and look grown out already. I don't know what to even say and took a picture and asked my friends, do I say something? These look really bad. Everyone responds absolutely you should not pay for that or get them redone. Another technician comes up and says do you like them? And I said no not at all. I think they look very bad. Now everyone is discussing my nails but I can't understand what is being said. My technician comes back and gives me feedback saying I should have told him that I didn't like them before they were painted. I tell him I couldn't see they were so poorly shaped until the polish was on. He reshapes and repaints my nails with a poor attitude and was so rude to me because apparently it's my fault I didn't analyze my nails the whole time he was doing them and trusted that they would look good by the end. He tells me a second time that I should have said something. I tell him again I could not see it until the polish was on. I paid full price 35 dollars for a fill in that still looks awful. I will start by saying I have been going to Lee Nail for almost 5 years. I have always enjoyed going there because the staff was always friendly and they did a good job. Over the past year it has gone down hill fast but after my experience today I will NEVER go back. We arrived at 5:10 for our 5:15 appointment. We were not greeted or even acknowledged when we got there. After waiting 15 minutes we were told to go sit in the chair and someone would be right with us. After soaking my feet for 15-20 minutes and no one even apologizing for the wait we decided to leave. I could understand if I had walked in without an appointment and had to wait. But spending 35 minutes waiting when you have an appointment is ridiculous. The only positive to this story is it made me try and new nail salon which I will be going to from now on. read more

On a Sunday morning, I'm currently sitting in the chair having my nails done and am already ready to write a terrible review. I'm sure my nails will look great, the pedicure is going to be fine, but the service here is absurd. Two friends of mine, one of whom is having her bridal shower at 1 today, came here for a 11:00 AM appointment that had been made and confirmed earlier this week. After choosing our colors and waiting until 11:20, my friend (the bride) and I went back for our pedicures (the other friend was getting a manicure). We were told that even though we had asked, we couldn't sit together, so we started texting instead of yelling across the room together. The experience is supposed to be relaxing, after all. Because I was looking at my phone I didn't realize until 11:35 that my friend still not had her pedicure started. I made a comment and someone came out to start her toes, finally. When would this have happened if we kept quiet? At 1140, our other friend was still sitting in the waiting area for her manicure, 40 minutes after her appointment was scheduled. She had already asked twice when she could be seen. We had to complain again to have someone start working on her nails. You would think that every desk and chair was full when we arrived, and that perhaps they had overbooked. But truly, the place was maybe half full at any given point while being here. Again, my pedicure will look fine, but the icing on the cake is when I looked down at my feet and my toe was bleeding. Yay, everyone loves a chance of infection. If you love waiting and wondering what could possibly be the issue, come here. Otherwise, I'm sure there are about fifty other places in Frederick you could go. read more

If I could give this establishment zero stars, I would. My mother took my elderly father in for a manicure last week. My father is the sweetest, most agreeable, and docile man you will ever meet and one of his few pleasures in life is getting his nails done. The nail technician was rude to him from the start, clearly unhappy to have an elderly male client, and became very rough with him, hurting his skin and not providing any level of professional nail services. This horrible woman, who should be fired, made my mother, who is my father's caretaker and uses these brief moments to relax herself, take my dad to the sink to wash his hands, among other things the technician should have done herself. It was a terrible experience for both of my parents. My father's skin is fragile and he requires gentleness, which he did not get. I hope this place goes out of business and someone treats this woman's own parents in such a disrespectful manner in front of her, so she can see what this feels like. read more

We made appointments for 5 (my 3 daughters, niece and myself) for mani-pedis on a Saturday morning. We arrived 10 minutes early, there were no chairs available. We were taken back one by one with 5-15 minutes between us. The youngest (a 6 year old) sat for almost 20 minutes with her feet in the water before anyone touched her. One started with a manicure and never spent any time near us. My one daughter asked for a French manicure, and her nails were painted white- when it was pointed out, she was given a French manicure with green polish on her feet. read more

This was my first time here and I'm uaually a person of habit. Thought I'd try this location since they were closer to my job. First impression, I walked in amd said "hello" several times to what appeared to be off work employees sitting towards the front door. About and awkward minute later, I was asked what services i needed. I worked with JoAnn, and tried the mirror nails on my two ring fingers with an acrylic fill-in and shellac polish. JoAnn had difficulty applying the mirror affect and sought out help from her coworkers. After successfully applied the mirrored affect (which seemed like eyeshadow rubbed in the shellac layer before sealing) and no less than 24 hrs later, my mirroed nails began to chip, exposing the black base. I called that next day and spoke to JoAnn who advised me to come in that night at 630p for her to fix. Now.. keep in mind i told her i work nearby and get off at 6p. When i arrived there at 6:30, her coworkers spoke through the glass to me advising "we closed. We closed". I called them and told them how rude it was for them to speak to me through the door like i was trying to trespass and that Joann specifically told me to come at that time. Long story short. I am going to go elsewhere and pay a shop to correct my new nails that should be lasting me the next 2 weeks. #fail read more

I love going to Lee Nails now that I have started asking for Bin. In the past I always had different people do my nails and sometimes I would have to wait forever if I went on a Saturday. Now I only ask for Bin. She makes sure I leave loving my nails and my gel manicures last for a month, sometimes even longer! I try to avoid going on Saturdays because it does get a little crazy with so many walk-ins. If you're looking for a wonderful nail experience ask for Bin at Lee Nails! read more

The salon was clean and inviting, but the staff was awful!!! I have never been treated so poorly while getting my nails done. The woman doing my nails practically yelled at me when she told me to "go wax" and I didn't understand what she meant. I had never been there before and to be quite honest didn't know what "go wax" meant. Most nail salons will help you bring your belongings over to the drying station so you don't ruin your nails, not this one. When she was finished she slapped my hands and said "done" and pointed to the drying station. I felt like I was a sheep being herded around. My nails don't even look that great. If you need a quick pedi/mani this will do, but if you are looking for a great job and good service, look somewhere else. read more

I have been to this salon a few times although some visits were good. My last visit was horrible. The wait was long, although I understand that. The woman that ended up doing my pedicure and fill in did not want to wait on me and she showed it. She would not speak to me and when asked if I wanted some length off my nails I said just a bit. She proceeded to cut them all off. The only time she said anything to me was to ask if I wanted another service I said no and got out as quick as possible. I made an appointment early Wednesday morning with my stepmom for a manicure & pedicure at 5:30 on Wednesday evening. Already having a stressful week because prom is Friday, my experience here made it 10x more stressful. I arrived at the salon around 5:35, my stepmom had already been seated. I told them I had an appointment and they just shook their head. I stood up against the wall talking to my stepmom as she got hers done. Looking around the salon I noticed many sitting in their chairs on their iphones. My stepmom finished her pedicure at 6:26, I had not even been seated... but a walk in had been!! This took up my time and now I have to schedule another appointment at a DIFFERENT salon to get my prom nails. I am so disappointed with the customer service, management, everything. I decided to try this place for a pedicure after reading the reviews (and it was recommended to me by someone I work with). I was underwhelmed to say the least. First off, the entire time I was in the chair all I could smell was cigarette smoke coming from the back area - it was nauseating. I'm a former smoker and so I understand the need for a nicotine fix or two during the day, but at least go outside where the smell isn't stinking up the whole place. The technician was pleasant and not overly chatty, but then she a) stopped doing the pedicure and just rested her hands on my feet for a good 4-5 minutes to watch something on the tv, and b) cut my toe with the cuticle trimmer (it bled. a LOT) and then said "oh sorry, my fault!" yeah, no kidding it's your fault you're the one with the trimmer in your hand! I was just unimpressed - the price is okay but honestly I'm willing to pay a little more so I can breathe comfortably and not get gouged. read more

Do not go here. The salon is filthy and the staff are rude. I was a walk-in for a pedi on a Saturday afternoon, so I expected a wait. All of the regular waiting area chairs were taken, so I sat down in a chair at one of the unused nail stations that was on the edge of the waiting area. Two of the technicians exchanged glances with each other when I did this. While I was sitting there, I started to notice how dusty and dirty all of the tables and the floor were. I also used the restroom, which was passably clean but had no toilet paper - instead, there was a roll of paper towels. No kidding - a roll of, like, Bounty or Scott paper towels. After I had been waiting for approximately half an hour, a pregnant customer who was also in the waiting area (and had come in before me) very politely asked a passing technician if she had any water. The tech just said "No" in this incredibly dismissive manner and kept right on walking. This would have been bad enough, but as I said, the woman was pregnant and . . . wait for it . . . every single one of the nail technicians had a bottle of water at her station. At that point, I was already feeling very uncomfortable about the overall lack of cleanliness, so I left. Save yourself $25 and possibly a nasty foot fungus and go to one of the many other, better salons in the area. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! I made an appointment 2 weeks prior to my visit for 2 people mani/pedi. Verified 3 times while on the phone that we would be seen at the same time and on time. I also asked the cost of the mani/pedi and was told 32.00 for mani/pedi. Got there 5 minutes early for the appointments and was told it would be 30 minutes. I then informed them we A. made an appointment 2 weeks in advance B. Had someplace else to be. We ended up waiting 15 minutes. When it was time to pay they charged me 42.00 per person, instead of 32.00 and when I addressed this with the woman (wish I knew her name she did my pedicure and the rudest person I have ever dealt with in this position) she dismissed me. The woman who gave me my manicure was fabulous (and got a huge tip from me) but she is not enough to keep me spending my money there. The business practices are shady at best and I am going to be sharing the information with all the women and men I know who use them and they will be losing quite a few customers. We have so many options in Frederick that Lee Nails is not on the DO NOT GO BOYCOTT list. It's a shame they are theives and the one good light will be penalized for the shadiness of the ones who run it. read more

This was the most horrible experience ever! I had an appointment for a manicure and pedicure. When I walked in nobody acknowledged me. There were many others who came in and were greeted and taken right away, while others were also ignored. As I was about to leave someone asked me what I needed. I told them I had an appointment and they told me to go to the back. The technician was extremely rude. She told me my color wasn't a good color and she would pick something else for me. I wasn't asked what kind of pedicure I would like, I was just given what ever. I realized there were two different options once I looked at the price list. Everyone else was getting a massage and parafin, I got a crappy paint job with a clicking of her tongue because I had a hang nail. When I got my manicure again a horrible experience! My cuticles were not cut down and it was very rushed. I was told to dry under the lamps that were for gel manicures which I did not get. I told her I didn't think that was right because it will turn the top coat a funny color. Nope she insisted, then insisted I was dry when I wasn't! By the time I walked to my car my nails were ruined. Two days later they were brown on top of my pink because of the light. My toes are painted all over my cuticles and this was just a horrible experience! I will never return and never recommend them!!!!! I am sorry I even have to give them 1 star, they don't deserve that! read more

My bridal party and I came in to get our nails done. First of all, I tried to make small talk with the lady doing my nails, she would not respond back (apparently she's the OWNER) she ordered food and ate it while I waited with half my nails done. She was very rough when doing my nails and she would shove my hands away and not communicate. I wanted white nails with glitter and she said she can't do that... Okay.... So I said I'll take French then. She said "you don't want white tip, white tip will look awful" I said yes I do want white tip... So then she talked to a co-worker in their language clearly discussing about me and my bridal party. The other techs did two of my bridesmaids nails wrong one with glitter gold tips! And the other they tore off half her original nail. She was bleeding and nothing was done about it. All in all they did the wrong manicures, hurt one of my girls, tried to convince us to get something we didn't want, refused to do the original nail, OH and the nails lasted THREE DAYS! $48 for three day nails. AWESOME! My last two bridesmaids refused to get their nails done after seeing what we experienced and we went somewhere else. The OWNER cussed out one of my bridesmaids because she said she wasn't happy with it. If my wedding wasn't the next day we would have went at it! All of them were RUDE. I've been going here for years and it will be my last! I stopped in for a pedicure. As the work began she asked me if I wanted a spa pedicure, which includes the paraffin wax. I asked her how much does it cost. She said $10 more. Seeing a regular pedicure costs $30, one would assume the bill would be $40 seeing 30 + 10 = 40. Well, when I handed her my credit card she returned charging my card $45. My receipt said organic pedicure (what the hell is that?) for $38 and paraffin wax $7. When I questioned her about the charge and that it should only be $40 she then began to speak very poor English. After trying to explain it to her and another employee who stepped in about the charge, it was a waste if time. They kept speaking in broken English and I could tell she wasn't going to credit my charge card for the $5 overcharge. Even though it was only $5 it was the principle. Imagine how much extra money they can make by ripping people off and charging for services they didn't ask for! I solved the problem by not giving her a tip! This was my first and last visit to this nail salon. I typically go to a different place for my nail care, but I needed to get them done on a spur of a moment so I thought I would check them out since they were close to home. They initially greeted me and took me back right away which was great, except I felt rushed picking out a gel color. Then they had me soak my nails in a bowl of warm water which there was hair in..eww. The nail tech comes over; doesn't introduce herself and starts the manicure. I showed her the color and a picture of some nail art that I wanted on my ring fingers and she acted as though she didn't want to do it and rolled her eyes. She kept mumbling away to her coworkers as if she was irritated with my request. As she was alternating my hands she literally swung my right hand away and told me to place it under the UV light area which felt completely grimy and crusty! She also applied 3-4 coats of polish, which you should try to avoid when using gel polish. The point is she was very rude and unwelcoming the whole entire time. I've been on the other side for years and that is not how you treat your customers nor retain them and if you're having a bad day leave the attitude at home. Awful customer service. Ive never in my life had such an awful experience. I will never step foot back into this salon again. I called to make an appointment and asked for pricing for an acrylic removal. I showed up only to be asked four different times if I was there for a pedicure... when I clearly asked for acrylic removal when I called ..and had already told them that the first three times they asked me after I arrived for my appointment what my appointment was for. I was told I needed to allow my nails to soak in acetone for five minutes. I was left for over an hour with my hands in these chemicals. I literally pulled them out and started filing the excess off myself so I could leave. When they saw I was almost finished filing all of them myself they finally decided to come over to help. How kind. They finished the job over the next 30 minutes...and charged me twice the price I was told. I informed them that that's not the price I was told and they refused to honor the price I was quoted and told me it's too bad that the man I spoke with on the phone named Tom doesn't know much and I had to pay double the price.. Literally my hands are so dry from soaking in those chemicals for so long that they are all white and peely. read more

Terrible experience. I came here about 6 PM on a Friday with two friends without an appointment for a pedicure, gel manicure and a full acrylic set. It was a little busy, but we were repeatedly told by a woman who didn't even get up to greet us that it would only "20 minutes" wait. We waited over an hour and a half to even be seated. The nail tech that I had asked me a few questions, but for the rest of the time she just muttered to herself and to the other techs. This was the first time I'd ever had my nails done, so it'd have been nice to actually have someone tell me what to do rather than just gesture repeatedly. She was pretty good about the prep of my nails-- no cuts to my fingers, plus she used instruments that seemed like they had been through an autoclave. Her actual paint job on my nails was not very good. There are lines along the edges of my nails that are yellow from the bottom coat showing through, where she missed applying the actual color and the paint bubbled on a few nails. Less than 6 hours after being finished, the paint on two of my nails is completely ruined/chipped off because of the bubbling. The other girls had nice looking nails, but it was obvious they were rushed. It took well over 2 hours from the time we checked in to the time we paid and left. Not sure if I'll return to get the nails fixed but I would NOT recommend this place. read more
