I walked in to VIP nails 45 minutes before closing. I asked for a gel fill manicure and said I'd come back for a pedicure because there was not enough time. But even though I was a walk in, Sophi completed my manicure and pedicure, well past closing time. She was gentle and attentive to detail. My fingers and toes look great!!! I walk in ask for color change and Dip manicure , they're already making me feel uneasy by rushing me to pick color.... then the lady rushes me to show her my hand while she's working w/someone else. Anyway I get to the back & im getting my nails soak off by the softest spoken woman I've ever talked to ( she was sweet ) they take the color off & tell me to come back next stay b/c I didn't make an appointment ( ok I didn't but really what was the point of taking of my guards ) my nails are long but break like glass * anyway I return the next day , everything is on time and moving smooth, next thing you know the lady starts applying powder w/o the tip added to the nail to make sure ALL MY NAILS ARE EVEN! who wouldn't pu---- anyway she's going and earlier on she said " if you no like we take off & do ombré " ok so I'm thinking this is just trial and error *hence I asked them the day before could they pull this off ? *everybody goes "Yes I can do. I can do for you , no worry ," rushing me yet again so I come back with faith & high hopes. I ask the girl ok " so you're going to take this off & ass my tip right ?" Oh no it's to late sweet heart ... BIH WHET ?! Excuse me !!! What the hell you mean to late ?!? You told me , if I no like you take off and do ombré ,?! I went in today with a group (bridal party) of 7 ladies, we've had this appointment booked for a while now. I'm the first to walk in and I'm immediately sat down, not too bad so far right... well the bride eventually walks in and sees a white gel dip with sparkles that she wants for all 4 of the bridesmaids so I'm getting my nails shaped and she says the color right in front of the lady. I tell her that is what I wanted. I keep wondering where the glitter is and think it will show up once we are all finished. She finishes after cutting my cuticle and making me bleed with the dremel, and there is not a sparkle in sight...problem #1. Problem #2 my gel dip wasn't smooth and shiny, it was bumpy and dull. Seeing that I'm already angry that my finger is bleeding I sit down for my pedicure and it went perfect! The lady was sweet very accommodating because it was obvious I was already unsatisfied. I told the bride that my nails didn't have glitter so to not have the other ladies get glitter white but just plain white, this was like asking them to solve a calculus math problem or something; they just didn't seem to understand. Once that issue was handled, I noticed that my nails were starting to turn pink??... but they are suppose to be white. So I then complain about them being pink and bumpy, I dry my toes and wait for them to finish with one of the other girls so they can fix it, not too bad right.. wrong. As I am sitting there drying I hear the bride complaining that the lady who is shaping her nails with the dremel is hurting her... she REPEATEDLY says "ouch" and she just keeps going. So she asks her to stop because she is hurting her and the shape just doesn't look good. Many other events happen like the ones listed above with technic issues, poor customer service and such. Skipping to the end... we obviously are unsatisfied customers and do not want to pay at this point. We ask to speak to the manager and/or the owner. THERE IS NO MANAGER , NO OWNER AT ALL! One of the workers gets into a screaming match with one of the bridesmaids and then with the bride, threatening to call the police because we don't want to pay for services that were completely unsatisfactory. If you are even still reading, we were treated poorly, were there for 3 and a half hours, threatened and screamed at for wanting everything perfect for our brides wedding! Will NEVER return to this salon, horrible experience! Wish I could give zero stars! read more

I went in to get simple tips done (nothing more) and they kept insisting in color gel and eyebrow waxing and it was just upsetting me because I just needed my nails done. Stopped in here on a whim after being unhappy with the last shop I went to. I walked in the shop and was unfortunately hit square in the face with the overwhelming odor of cyanoacrylate, and although I know this can be an issue with acrylics, it seemed as if there was zero ventilation in the place. I was greeted immediately, told them I'd like a fill, and was asked to pick a color. They offered gel color (why they do this with acrylics, I'll never understand; acrylics hold polish just fine), but did not push. I was seated right away at someone's station and they began their work. A moment into the service he got a call, and of course I rolled my eyes and thought to myself "oh here we go", since it's commonplace for places like this to carry on a conversation while doing your service. However, he paused, finished his conversation quickly, and returned to me. I had some loose acrylic, and as he went to grab his nippers to pull it up, I asked him not to. After a couple of false starts he understood what I was asking and stopped. The service proceeded quickly and efficiently resulting in some of the thinnest and most shapely nails that I've ever had. He didn't carry on conversations with others in the salon, but he didn't bother to try to have a conversation with me either. They don't let you put tips on credit cards so I wasn't able to tip him but I will definitely be back to see Tommy in the future. read more

This place is clean and hve plenty of nail technicians available I have been here twice. The first time I got a regular manicure and took a while because it was the weekend. But this time I went for a shellac color and it came out amazing. I am very picky when it comes to french manicure and she did a perfect rounded white line to a perfect pink tint like I asked. I would have gave it a perfect 5 if she was more personable but either way I definitely recomment this place and will visit again 8) read more

Ugh- this place is not clean. Also everything is old and tattered- white towels are stained and grey, buttons are missing on the massage chair and the pedicure bath was missing a piece so that my technician had to scoop out extra water with a Tupperware container in order to add more hot water. The nail polish was dry and cracked and looked 20 years old. I hope I don't get an infection Because the brushes and scrubber she used came out of a drawer and went right back in after they were used on me. I paid $50 for a "spa"'pedicure. Sorry to disagree with the other positive reviews but I've consistently received bad service from this salon for years as I've frequented it off and on. Yes, I realize it's stupid to go back to a place that doesn't provide good service, but it's very cheap and extremely close to my house. I've reached my limit and won't be going back regardless of those two positive points. First off, it's very dirty. I've never seen it look even close to clean. The waxing room table is disgusting looking. The massage chairs are clearly very old. They cut major corners when doing fill-ins. I've had fake nails off and on since I was about 14, so I've been to many places to get them filled in. It's scary how quickly they can give you a fill-in at VIP, but they don't pay much attention to detail at all. Some of the technicians are VERY rough with your nails. When I've needed to have a fake nail or two replaced they literally pry the nail off instead of soaking it in acetone and then gently filing it off. It's very painful and ruins your natural nails. On top off the dirty factor and the poor attention to detail, the technicians are nasty. And when I say nasty, I mean NASTY- impatient, visually pissed if you ask them to do something a specific way. The worst is Lena. She has a major attitude problem. Regardless of this, I tip extremely well-- always-- but she has given me attitude each and every time I've gone to her. It became an anxiety filled experience instead of a relaxing experience as it should be. The only one who is nice is Kelly and I just found out she's not there anymore. Lastly, I once went in with another girl and I made appointments for both of us. We waited when we arrived, which was fine with me. Then they took me and made my friend continue to wait. Meanwhile, walk-ins were coming in. When they were finished with me, they asked if it was okay if they didn't take my friend. Huh? We made appointments... clearly they wanted to get the walk-ins taken care of. Just another example of their terrible customer service. If you want a clean nail salon where the technicians are friendly and competent, go to Jennifer Nails. They're a bit more pricey, but not terrible, and it's worth it. read more

I went here because the good reviews. I am totally disappointed. My nails chipped the same day - they usually last for 10+ days. Place is not very clean and the waxing room is a little scary - the bed does not have the usual cover they change after each person. However, people working here are nice but unfortunately, they do not do a great job. I need to keep looking for more salons in Frederick :( read more

Choose this location due to its proximity to my apartment. At first was hesitant since the shopping center they are located isn't very lively. Extremely happy with the service, the price, and how timely my whole visit was. I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure in a little under an hour. They turned out exactly how I wanted. The people who worked there were incredibly friendly and not pushy about their services like other nail salons. I will definitely be making this my regular nail salon. read more

I would give less stars if possible. This place was awful! I went to get my nails done after I got engaged and asked for dip gel. They gave me a giant ring of colors and only had like five of them in the dip powder gel option. I had to ask about over 10 colors before they had one. The lady that did my nails did not speak to me after I told her what color I wanted. She had headphones in nearly the entire time. I told her to leave my nails as long as possible and instead, took it upon themselves and filed them so short it was painful and my nails were shaped crooked. Once my nails were done it was then they decided to pull out the cuticle trimmer, which might I add was from a communal box and definitely hadn't been sanitized in quite some time. They nicked my skin several times with the Dremel to the point I bled and they just ignored it. They also left the powder extremely thick, to the point my nails looked like little ET bulbous fingers. Not at all what I was hoping/expecting when I went in and asked for a "pale pink, dip gel manicure, leaving my nails as long as possible." read more

Even before I stepped out of the salon, I couldn't wait to come onto the yelp app and write a review. I called ahead and asked to see if I needed an appointment. The woman who answered said that it's better to make appointment so I wouldn't have to wait when I got there. I made an appointment and arrived on time. I picked out my color and after about 5 minutes, the woman in the first chair told me to sit down and she would wrap my nails to take off my existing gel manicure. Previously, at other salons, I'd have my nails wrapped for about 15-20 mins. I waited for an hour. All the while, the same lady in the front chair started doing a full acrylic set of nails on a girl next to me and other customers who had come in after me were being served. I was clearly becoming upset by the time I was waiting. She kept telling me 'almost' and 'it takes a long time for the gel to come off'. It doesn't take an hour! Just as I was about to leave, a woman called me to another chair and was completely rude. She eventually asked me 'Did you have an appointment?' I said 'Yes, at 2:30. I've been waiting for an hour' to which she replied 'Oh.' She did a rushed and terrible job at cleaning up my nails, left a lot of my cuticles and the gel polish was streaky. Once she was just about finished, she saw a woman walk into the waxing room and told me 'I'm going to hell that lady really quick with a wax. She's been waiting a long time.' She quickly walked away and didn't come back for 5 minutes. If I would've said anything to her or anyone else, I would've said something that I would've regretted. I paid and left. Ladies, do yourself a favor and don't go to this terrible nail salon. It's dingy and unsanitary. Go to OMG Nails and Salon in Urbana (240-699-0308). I typically go there, but this salon was closer to my house and decided try it out. Big mistake! I wouldn't have left any stars if I had the option. read more

Overall, this salon is fine. Unfortunately, as soon as you find a good technician, they leave which is disappointing. My only other comment is NOT to use Stephanie as your technician. She is one of the rudest people that you'll encounter, very curt and dismissive. Even when she is not working or busy, she states that she is. Not sure if she is plain lying or just very lazy. I went to this place very disappointed. The tech seemed like she was in a rush so I asked her was she in a rush. She finshed and man oh man I had humps and lumps different length nails. I was discussed. I left then came back and one of the managers redid my nails. I got a Gel full set and the tech wanted to put the gel on first before polish. Never seen such before. Don't even go to this place. I specifically asked for someone who could cut ingrown nails and they just kind of quickly agreed and asked me to pick out a color. The lady who started doing my pedicure did not know how to do a normal pedicure let alone cut ingrown nails. I nicely kept asking her if she could do it and she said yes in between picking up towels and cleaning up the day. Long story short, I decided to stop her cause she wasn't doing a good job and was hurting me and asked her how much I owed her for what she had already done; she asked me not to leave and then someone called Sophia "helped her" finish up with me and she was so aggressive she cut me and I wouldn't stop bleeding. Instead of addressing it, she decided to get up and be on her phone and laugh with her other coworkers while someone put alcohol and antiseptic on my toe AFTER I ASKED FOR IT. Terrible customer service. Sophia should get fired for how she acted and they should hire competent and polite people. read more

I have been going there for about 3 years for the pedicure with no problem. I always make an appointment and know that I will be guaranteed to be served. Today, I called and made an appointment at 2 pm. For the first time in three years, I went there and I was ignored for an hour while my feet were soaked. The two young girls (who walked in without appointment) came after me and they got their service while I was waiting. I asked the manager/owner when I will be served. She said, "Wait a little bit longer" (with a sign "thumb slash the neck"). I suddenly walked out and no one bothered to stop me from going out of the store. Apparently, they do not care...
