My husband and I were initially very reassured when we first met Al and his coworker on the day of the move. We told that we had taken pictures and videos of everything in our apartment before the move and would do so again afterwards. (In the pictures below, the cabinet is in the bathroom). We explained to them our previous bad experience with movers: our a $200 cabinet was damaged, and despite insurance via Uhaul, we were denied any compensation. This made us extremely anxious, but so many reviews were positive. We were reassured and told, "We treat your things like we'd treat ours." They ran out or did not wrap one of our cabinet doors. This led to severe damage, and it was scraped against the truck door as it opened and closed. (My husband witnessed it happen when it opened). Despite feeling anxious about some damage we noticed during the unloading of our items, we treated them with kindness. We bought water for them, provided snacks, and did not hesitate when paying for the time we went over. We did not bring up the cabinet immediately while they were present, as we thought it'd be best to go over all items before addressing it - a one-and-done kind of mindset. The next day we reached out about the damages. Where the once kind, patient, and understanding man we dealt with disappeared, we were so disappointed. We were told insurance covers on $.60 per pound, and if we wanted extra insurance, that's something we had to ask about and pay for ahead of time. When I explained that I did ask, I had my notes from every mover I called, and my husband was with me when I asked; we were accused of lying and fabricating information. All we wanted was compensation for the damaged IKEA cabinet we cannot replace, as it was discontinued, and $357.25 is a lot of money to lose because of someone else's carelessness. Update: Al did contact me, and we had a respectful conversation and reached a goodwill resolution.

Despite me providing the exact details and dimensions of my home beforehand, it took them 3 hours just to clear my house, and another 5 hours to unload at my new residence. They worked at a noticeably slow pace and lacked the strength and technique expected of professional movers. Care and attention to detail were also significant issues. During the move, they ripped up the laminate floor transition bars in a couple of areas. While they did attempt to fix the damage after I pointed it out, I had to supply the Gorilla Glue for the repair myself. A specific warning for potential customers: do not let their "no stair cost" clause sway your decision. In my experience, they offset this promotion by milking the hourly clock, moving intentionally slow, and frequently complaining about the weight of standard items. They are nice gentlemen who will eventually get the job done, but they are simply not built to provide an efficient, professional-grade moving service. The move took around five hours, and once we unpacked, we found several items damaged or missing parts. Our rotating bookshelf had a broken bottom and missing screws, making it not repairable. A rolling side table is missing two of its four wheels. The protective corner bumper covers were damaged, and other furniture had new scuff marks and damage. Altogether, it is a few hundred dollars' worth of damage. The owner was personally nice, and I understand moving is physically demanding work, especially on a hot day. Which is why I felt so bad... we also made sure to bring the crew cold energy drinks because we know it's hot out and it's tiring to move. However, at this price point, I expected much more care in handling our belongings. The other movers were not rude, but they were not especially communicative or careful either. I appreciate that they got us moved, but this was not a smooth experience and the damage we found afterward was extremely disappointing. But I must say there is a concerning lack of professionalism in both communication regarding the logistics and handling of the furniture. They did not wrap/pad most of the furniture, did not disassemble the dining table until we asked, and during drop-off there did not seem to be much careful organization or consideration of which furniture to move in first. For example, they moved the TV in before the TV unit and thus had to put the TV on the floor in a way that could have damaged the TV screen when they later moved the TV unit into the room. On top of this we were never informed of the fact that if the move exceeds 10 minutes into the next hour we would be charged for the full hour. The original quote did not include all the fees that were later disclosed when we paid the full balance. When I expressed my concerns regarding their failure to communicate these fees beforehand, I was not given a sincere apology. Overall, the movers seem like very nice people and I sincerely appreciate their hard work, especially considering that one of the furniture (a rocking chair) was quite sizable and required some maneuvering to fit through the door and limited space at the drop-off location.
