For some reason, people keep asking why I left a $20 tip for each of the movers back then. It was because my family and I ended up helping them move our own things after they disappeared and spent a significant amount of time downstairs more than once. The last moving company I used, we gave them $200 each. They earned it -- we didn't have to help at all. They were constantly going up and down the stairs and never disappeared for an extended amount of time. These movers would've received a similar tip if they didn't keep disappearing, causing us to help. To add, I never found that "missing" box of movies. read more

This is my second time using A Better Way To Move. Javier and Jose are awesome! Both are professional, efficient, careful and considerate. I had a tricky move and needed the 15' truck to accommodate my area's short turns, tight spaces and lack of parking. Javier utilized his precision truck packing skills to fit ALL of my belongings to include plants and garage!!! I anticipated I'd have to move plants and garage separately, on my own since it didn't seem possible to fit everything in a shorter truck, Javier and I discussed the plan to not rush and fit as much as possible in the truck. FANTASTIC MOVERS. These guys showed up at our apartment and we felt terrible - our place was a MESS. We had to move out of our apartment quickly (long, sad story you don't want to hear) and had not packed everything. The movers were very courteous despite our ill-preparedness and handled everything like complete pros. We had used them once before, 12 years ago, and liked them then so we decided to use them again. They are a solid, excellent group of people who charge fair rates. They took apart our furniture and re-installed it (complicated couches and beds which were a real pain) like total pros. I had contacted several other companies and never felt comfortable until someone recommended A Better Way To Move. I am very happy I went with them. The person on the phone took his time and took the time to explain everything. This company was also more affordable because it wasn't going to take the time required but all the others were charging $4-500 plus for 4 items. The movers were also excellent. One of my items was very delicate and they made sure to care for that and the other items as well as make sure I felt happy and calm during the move. None of my items were damaged and they waited for me to put protective padding on the feet before putting the items in their spot. I'd give them 10 stars if I could. They were one time (early), fast, courteous, efficient, and very professional. We recently moved our office over the holidays from a second floor building to another building also on the second floor. Our original quote was 6 hours, 4 men and a truck. We had five heavy mahogany desks that needed to be dissembled. Not only did they dissembled them, they shrink wrapped them and labeled who's desk was each piece so they didn't get confused. We also have four heavy metal shelving units, each about 6' x 4' and they also shrink wrapped everything and made sure nothing would get a scratch. Fridge, additional cabinets and LOTS of boxes. At our final destination, I just had to point where I wanted each item and they set up the desks, the cabinets, everything in the perfect spots. They even helped us place our computers cables around the cabinets. Within the first day in our new office we felt at peace knowing that everything was in place and we didn't need to move anything. Now it was up to us to unpack our mountain of boxes. They finished everything in 4 hours even with transportation time in between office locations. They worked well together like a fine tuned machine and worked around each so well. They deserve a raise! read more

I've written a few Yelp reviews in my day and generally the only time I get a formal apology from management is if I completely went off on the place. You know, like a one or two star rant that could do damage to a reputation if they don't make it right or at least apologize. Apologies, threats, attempted bribes, I've seen it all. But this time I gave A Better Way to Move four stars. Four stars is pretty damn good if you ask me, so imagine my shock when I received an email from the owner days after I posted my four star "pretty damn good service" review. He felt terrible about my broken dresser, completely sympathizing that it must have been pretty disappointing to get to my new home and find something broken that I wasn't told about. Wow, really? He wanted to make it right, I told him I'd have filled out a claim but I've heard those are a waste of time with moving companies. You fill out all the paperwork, get the runaround for a few months, and it's generally not worth it. Again he sympathized and said he'd just take care of it. Three days later the check was in my mail box. The key to this was that he didn't once ask me to update my review, he just wanted to fix the problem. It almost seemed too good to be true so I even told him if this is really the great recovery it appeared to be I'd be sure to let the Yelp world know. His answer? "I thought your review was honest and fair, so please don't feel under any obligation to change it." That's a direct quote from his email. Finally, the type of comment that makes me *want* to update my review. Now that is some service, A Better Way to Move indeed. read more
