Totally not what you would expect from a restaurant in the middle (well, actually towards the end of) a strip mall. It captures the whole 'diner' vibe, without actually being a diner. I went with my family on a Saturday for brunch, so it was quite crowded. We had a fairly large party--6--and for the most part, they were able to accomodate us well. The service was a little spotty; we waited a long time to get coffee and we were given a jug of water, but no glasses to pour it into. I think that kind of captures the essence of Le Peep--the intention is there, but they can do better with the execution. The food was pretty good--everyone ordered different types of breakfast foods and it all tasted pretty good. I officially ordered the Spinnaker (egg white omelet with mushrooms, spinach, bacon, chives that were really mislabeled green onions)--delish! However, being that we're an Asian family, we also did quite a bit of 'family style' sharing so I got to taste a lot of the other dishes that was ordered. Overall, they were pretty good. Really, their spotty customer service was what makes this place just okay for me. If it could be more consistent, I think this could definitely be a 4-5 star place. read more

I had a hankering for pancakes (huge pancake fan here) and decided to try Le Peep as it's been in my bookmarked places to try for some time. In addition, one of my cousin's is a fan of Le Peep, so it seemed to be a simple choice. I was in a party of four (me, my sister, and two other cousins; not the one mentioned above). I ordered the cranberry almond pancakes and was kind of disappointed that no option for whole wheat was offered, but that was nothing big. The pancakes arrived with maple syrup warmed in a plastic Aunt Jemima bottle but immediately I noticed that the syrup's consistency was very liquid, which I thought was attributable to having been warmed prior to serving. However, after pouring the syrup on my pancakes and tasting it I was very disappointed to taste watered down syrup. My sister, who ordered the "Lumberjack" breakfast that also included two pancakes, confirmed my assessment of the syrup after applying it to her pancakes. The pancakes were a bit overdone on the griddle as they were not very fluffy, a bit dense, and a little singed on the edges. My sister's "Lumberjack" was nothing special (pancakes tasted similar to mine, as she gave me some to taste), and the sausage was pretty average (again she gave me one to taste). My two cousin's ordered the Desperado skillet and Slick Chick sandwich respectively, and by their opinions, each were average. The Slick Chick's chicken breast was pretty small relative to the size of the bread, and the sweet potato french fries supplied with the sandwich may have been some of the smallest portions I've seen in any restaurant; I believe she counted 10-12 normal sized french fries. She wasn't expecting a basket full, but again I found this kind of frugal? Graciously the coffee was pretty good and a pitcher was provided by the waitress so one could refill the cup themselves. Considering the very good reputation of Le Peep (based on prior yelp reviews and a first hand relative's recommendation), I certainly was expecting much better food. In fact, having had a generous portion of especially delicious pancakes two days earlier at a local diner (whose yelp ratings are lower than Le Peep's), I was expecting food of equal quality - at the minimum. Honestly one of the better brunch places. I went on a Sunday and for my foot sake (5 inch heels) got there before 11am. The menu was extensive and I appreciated the 1/2 size plates. I enjoyed the gooey buns which is worth it's price in almonds. The atmosphere and dress seems to be pajamas as I was clearly overdressed. We weren't rushed which is appreciated even though there was a line waiting that went out the door. A cheaper, less bougie Turning Point! Great portions for great prices. Everything is about $8-12 and serve excellent brunch platters. They have numerous options from different kinds of pancakes and crepes to panhandled dishes to fancy breakfast omelettes all served with a side! If you're overwhelmed and cant decide highly recommend something under Le Combo, it's a little bit of everything. It's hard to describe Le Peep in one word. It's not a hipsteresque brunch eatery. Nor is it a diner. Le Peep is nothing fancy yet it's a nice alternative to a run-of-the mill diner. It's got plenty of breakfast/brunch options. So many, that you will spend quite some time figuring out what you want to get. The prices ain't bad, the service is decent and you won't leave hungry. You can't go wrong with any of their skillet nor can you complain about their large orders of pancakes and french toast. The wait can be long on weekends during brunch hours but the food is worth it. From the outside, it may not look like much but it's an amazing breakfast place. It's really not worth the hype. Food was okay, there's an insanely long wait to get in only to have an hour at each table. We sat down and immediately were yelled at because our party was "incomplete" (they were outside). Manager gave us dirty looks the whole time there because of this. Pancakes were normal pancakes. Came here for brunch this past Saturday. Wow. Biggest brunch menu ever! I think anyone and everyone could find something they like here. Plenty of seating, plenty of light, not too loud, especially considering how many people are there. Service was slightly better than mediocre. Our waitress was nice enough, but also slightly sassy, and either forgetful or not as attentive as I'm used to. Amaretto Latte - really tasty with a good amount of frothy steamed milk. The flavor was incredibly light though, so for having to pay extra, I would've liked to taste it more.. but I guess it was only 50 cents.. Mozzarella Sticks - Eh. Nice and crispy for sure, and was NOT oily at all. But the cheese. Was this really mozzarella? It seemed like it was melted down and mixed with ricotta or something. It wasn't very stretchy/melty how it should be, but rather mushy. Wasn't a huge fan of these because of that. Dawn Breaker - I really really liked this dish. I was craving something with eggs. Not quite an omelet, and not a bake, but everything is nicely incorporated. The bacon and scallions ^-^ I ordered a white english muffin to go with, but they gave me a cinnamon english muffin instead. Not that it was bad, but it's not what I ordered. I also got cheese grits on the side. Not the absolute best grits that I've had, BUT I can very very much appreciate that they kept it simple and the consistency was wonderful. I HATE grits that are so thick that it gels together. This was soupy enough, but not runny. Great addition to my meal! Woke up super early and super excited to come here for breakfast! The waitress that sat us could not have been any less friendlier. I thought, ok maybe it was just her. This same waitress was later sitting at a table with diners chit chatting for at least a good 10 mins. No wonder service was slow! After a good 5 mins, our waitress finally shows up to take our drink order. Coffee and juice took about another 5 mins to come. We place our food order and my eggs arrive with a hair in it. I told the waitress and she took it away with no comment or apology. How rude! This must happen a lot since she wasn't the least bit phased. Gross! Brought me new eggs, but recooked and burnt my ham and croissant now. Finally time to leave yay and waitress at the register asked if everything was ok. I said ehhh...it was ok. Stopped by LaPeep on a Saturday late morning; had a short wait which was expected as we have been here before. Service was prompt and our order came out as ordered. Two orders of pancakes, one pineapple & coconut and one blueberries & granola. Our third order was a grilled chicken salad. Pancakes can be ordered as 2 or 3, we both ordered 2 which was more than enough. The pineapple one was overcooked on one side. All pancakes had good flavor. Chicken salad was tasty and also of good size. Coffee comes in a carafe so refill your own cup as needed. Also had a fruit smoothie which was very tasty but contained some ice chunks Only other negative was the wait to get our food after the order was placed. $30 for food ordered which is very reasonable. The place has all the callings for a great breakfast/brunch spot, but the food just didn't live up to the hype for my group. It has tons of breakfast and lunch options including your usual pancakes, fresh toasts, omelets, pastas, burgers, etc. and all food looked and smelled great! However, I just think the taste doesn't live up to expectations. Food was very mediocre (I expected something better than iHop since it's not a large chain). I ended up getting a pasta dish as it was close to lunch and I was craving some carbs. The pasta came out very bland and as if it were made from a box. There just wasn't anything special about it and they had no seasonings or fresh parmigiano to add on top (I know they don't specialize in Italian cuisine but if you have pastas on your menu, I think you can keep a few of these things). I also ordered some grits with cheese and they were horrible, I was barely able to eat a few spoons. Similarly, the others in my group didn't love their food (eggs and omelet) and had over half of it left on their plates. Servers were ok but didn't seem too friendly. Otherwise, we were seated quickly even on Saturday morning and prices were decent for the portion sizes. This place seems to have some great reviews, but I just don't get it. What a bad choice. They made it with imitation crabmeat and a bready filler. Disgusting. Then I changed it to the salmon Benedict. The salmon was overcooked. I absolutely cannot eat overcooked salmon. I'd rather have it undercooked because once it leaves the grill it's still cooking on your plate due to the internal heat. The panini was more of a quesadilla, with shreds of corned beef and sub-par cole slaw. This was lower quality than what I've had from the pre-made section of convenience stores. A cup of cole slaw and what I think was an attempt at cucumber salad were on the side. Both horrible. Service was awful. There are other eateries in thie strip mall. Issues included undercooked bacon when we asked for crispy (sent it back and returned burnt), dry French toast, no carbonation in the soda and lukewarm eggs and bread.
