This was a really fun, clean establishment! We were waiting in line at a different spot, so i ran here to get a snack while we were waiting. I appreciated the clean ambiance and the cool air conditioning. I waited in a small line. When i got to the front, the employees were kind. I ordered a few macarons to share and an eclair. Everything tasted fresh. I definitely recommend the macarons. The center was sugary and flavorful and the cookies were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Would definitely recommend stopping in the next time youre in Pike Place market.

I remember 15 years ago when I went here for the first time I thought the desserts look to pretty to eat. I was excited to come back again to see if my standards are the same from 15 years ago when it comes to these delicious pastries. And I was still foodie happy let's just say. - Ham and cheese croissant is a must. Sorry no photo as I was too hungry to take a pic before eating it. - Prices are still reasonable for this level of quality - there wasn't a long wait Labor Day weekend when I went. Line went by quickly - free sparkling water on tap! Love it! If I'm ever in the Seattle area, I will stop by again for some pastries. If you wait too late in the day, the popular items go quickly.

Cute pastry cafe in Pike Place! Came here with my friend on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy a savory Spinach croquette. It was delicious - flavorful and not too salty. Wasn't revolutionary, but did the job. The location does get busy, so try to snag an empty table if you can! The service is speedy and I appreciate the staff explaining each item to the customers. Worth a visit!

Busy Pike Place Market

Honestly, I was taken aback by the raving reviews here because my first (and it would be my last) visit to Le Panier fell completely short of expectations. So, what went well, and what has plenty of room for improvement? SERVICE - 5/5 The staff was super friendly and just really cool! I especially appreciated that he grabbed the pain au chocolat from the back at my request. I did not want mine touching the almond croissants displayed so closely together. I wanted a pain au chocolat, not an almond pain au chocolat. Sorry! AMBIANCE - 4/5 A very busy bakery/café located at Pike Place Market, near Starbucks. I liked the wall décor and the overall cozy vibe. Finding an empty seat may be a challenge? KOUIGN-AMANN/PAIN AU CHOCOLAT/MERINGUE - 2/5 Kouign-amann - 0/5 It pained me to give a kouign-amann such a low score, especially because it is my all-time favorite pastry. But this one was so subpar that I could not even finish it. It was, frankly, a complete waste of butter, flour, sugar and labor. I once lodged a complaint with a GM and Director of F&B at a certain Ritz-Carlton because their kouign-amanns were so bad that I asked them to stop whoever was making them. Since then, there has been a huge improvement, and that is what genuine feedback should accomplish. Pastry integrity is of utmost importance, and pastry crime is hardly forgivable. Pain au Chocolat - 2/5 Doughy and deeply disappointing. I simply cannot reconcile this with the fact that Le Panier has supposedly been a beloved fixture of Seattle's food scene since 1983. MERINGUE -- 5/5 Can anyone possibly mess up a meringue?? It is extremely disappointing to visit what is supposed to be a legendary, quintessential French bakery in Seattle, only to find that the two pastries I was most looking forward to, the kouign-amann and pain au chocolat, were both such letdowns. A café/bakery cannot survive on service and ambiance alone. The pastries have to deliver too. Time to rehone the baking skills, Le Panier.

Stopped for coffee and a little bite before we walked around the area! Line was long but went fast!! I got a vanilla iced latte and these little donut-like bites- they were a little plane but really good actually!! My coffee was yummy as well! My boyfriend just got a hot vanilla latte and enjoyed that with me! The inside was cutely decorated for the World Cup! I love how the city embraced it! Definitely worth the stop (especially if you can't get into the Starbucks.... This is better!!!!)

I stopped in to get a snack when I was at the market this week. Their pastries all looked delicious and I decided to try an almond croissant. I was able to get a seat by the front window so I could do some people watching while I ate. My croissant looked a bit better than it tasted. It didn't have a whole lot of almond flavor and it was kind of chewy but that may have been due to the extremely warm temperature. The person who helped me was super friendly. I'd stop in if you have a hankering for French pastries while at the market.

So many choices

SO many choices here - I tried the almond croissant and it was spectacular!!! To be honest, I've had it before and I keep coming back for more! But try everything here! It's all so good and made in house so you know everything is fresh!!! The service is great! Watch the signs so you know where to line up and stand to order. It's a small establishment with a few seats on high tops, but you won't need to spend hours here - or - take your food and drinks up to the waterfront to dine and enjoy the ambiance!

Graines (4.25/5)

I got the graines (4.25/5) and campagne (4.25/5) loaves. Both have a semi crunchy crust, airy interior, and toast well! The service was pretty good (4/5); they do a good job of keeping the line moving.

Cute place, very expensive for being in Pike. The staff was kinda pretentious... when asking what things were (since some things had no labels) am I psychic? I got an almond croissant which was very crunchy and the center was almost like a custard. Odd. The macrons were the star of the show. I would go back only for those. Not worth trying. So many more places in Pike to goto.

Food: Spinach Épinard (7.5/10) - on the savory side of baked goods here! it was crispy and also flavorful. it wasn't too salty or anything either. there was crisp and fluffy texture to it as well. Pavlova (7/10) - tastes like whipped cream with meringue and a very unique but fresh mango and passion fruit filling. i wasn't a fan of the filling it tasted a bit herby but it wasn't bad. the shape of this dessert is so cute! it's definitely sweet and has an airy texture. Service: Pretty quick, helpful, and sweet. They keep the long line moving while still having a positive attitude Ambiance: Cozy and warm type of feeling at this bakery. Super busy atmosphere because it's so popular and a long line out the door. There's seating but not a whole lot and it's pretty packed. Super cute bakery!

It's a very French bakery (as their sign says) located right at pike market place. Tends to get super busy with people ordering and many many tourists ordering as well. Coffee was real good and so were the huge assortment of pastries. Sitting area is minimal so you have to watch out for available spots or you at standing up.

Kristin C.

You know it's a good sign when you walk in and it smells amazing. Line wasn't too long but it is hard to see the options in the cases when there are people in front of you blocking the case. Staff is very helpful and friendly and move you through the line quickly. Great location right in the heart of Pike Place Market and it's really cool vibe inside. Can't wait to try all the pastries I got!

I was roaming around pikes market Street in stumbled upon this French bakery. It was busy, but it has so much pastry in there and everything looked great. The ambience was a typical bakery, but a little bit upscale there were some seatings. The almond croissant I had was OK. I've had better. Overall, it was good but next time I would try other things.

Any vegan options?

I doubt it. It's a French Patisserie! Butter's the thing 😂!

Is it necessary to arrive early in the day for best selection (amandine croissant, any other popular items) - do they run out by the afternoon as some places do?

Yes, as any place going early is best, but they are always replacing what has been sold, the place gets busy but they do stop replacing baked goods close to closing time.

Are there any glazed croissants?

Traditional croissants-- but they have some great fillings and styles that vary. We had a fantastic cherry pistachio one a few months ago! The chocolate and almond are also delicious.

Better to eat-in or take out? (Always packed...)

It's nice to eat there if you r able to find a seat

We recommend you try something new and prepare to be impressed. Rather extensive menu for such a small place. They do not cut corners on preparation or ingredients. They are very knowledgeable about their products and are happy to share that knowledge. They work as a team which means no breakdowns when things get busy. Physical: Does not wow from the outside but is very attractive inside. Well laid out for efficient service. Atmosphere: You actually do feel like you are in a French café, except with friendly service. Prices: Given all of the above the prices are very, very reasonable. This is one of the few dining experiences where you actually get what you pay for. We always leave happy. I repeat - six stars.

They have so many yummy options, but I settled on a mushroom and Gruyère pastry and an earl grey blueberry cruffin. The mushroom and Gruyère pastry was SO good!!! Buttery flaky layers of dough with a strong earthy mushroom flavor and savory cheese - an absolute umami bomb. We ate it the day after and threw it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes, and it was so delicious. The cruffin was huge! Topped with a delicious light Earl grey cream that wasn't too sweet. It was filled with a blueberry cream and was definitely very filling. There's a lot of sugar coating it, as is standard with cruffins, but it's a nice sweet treat. Definitely coming back for the mushroom and Gruyère pastry and to try their other delicious flavors. Their supreme croissant flavor switches often and we can't wait to try the next one! This is the version I had. It's fantastic. The first thing that stands out is the amazing crunch from the cornflakes on the breading. Compared to similar versions of this food I've had - the doughnut is always soft on the outside. And this can be quite enjoyable, but when there's a textural contrast coming from the outside, it just elevates it to a whole another level. The individual cornflakes as well as the entire outside is breaded perfectly. Biting into this is such a satisfying experience. The inside is also quite good. It's a vanilla custard flavor, and it fits in really well by both filling the doughnut in volume but not being excessive enough to ooze out easily. The flavor is quite sweet and vanilla-forward, and very nice. For just $4, these are around the size of your average doughnut. Overall, it's a fantastic treat that I did not even expect this place to serve, but I'm very happy I had it. 9/10

There weren't any other customers inside and we were greeted with an empty display case in the front. While barren, the owner, a gruff* French gentlemen, confirmed that he still had choux pastry left with a choice of either vanilla, coconut, pistachio, or hazelnut. We decided to go with the pistachio, which he assembled fresh for us, first by piping pistachio cream inside the choux shell, then dipping in melted chocolate and sprinkling pistachio on top. Pistachio Choux ($6) - The choux is excellent, baked until deliciously crisp on the exterior while the inside remains soft, eggy, and tender. Since it's fresh filled and we ate it right afterwards, the cream never migrated to saturate the crust - I suspect people with issues with mushiness probably let the cream puff sit too long before consuming. The cream, which is piped to the brim, pushes out against the delicate shell, causing each bite to almost squirt out a bit of the luscious, silky whipped custard. The cream coats the lips and mouth with a layer of fat. It's not too sweet and has a light nutty pistachio flavor. The melted chocolate the top is dipped into glues on all of the pistachio dip. The chocolate is slightly bitter, yet sweet, so it helps cut through some of the rich silkiness of the cream. The pistachios on top act like a crumble, perhaps pulverized and melded with butter to create a very rich yet pistachio forward mix. It's strongly flavored, and the chocolate creates such a strong cement that none of the nuts detach while eating. (5/5) Panterelli was a huge surprise as it wasn't even on our radar until we walked past the shop randomly while exploring the Farmers Market. It's a definite revisit in the future! *The owner isn't nearly as welcoming as a typical American small business owner, but is certainly friendly and eager to chat. I also love his attitude - looks aren't that important; it's the taste the reigns supreme!

They offered the item on both days this weekend and again I missed it on Saturday. I asked the front person what time I should get to the bakery in order not to miss it, and she recommended that I come in right at the opening. She said they ran out of it some time past 11am on Saturday, so it seems like they don't necessarily go flying off the counter immediately. Although I was curious, I still wasn't sure if I'd make it in time for opening at 8am the next day. But I was housesitting nearby and the dog woke me up at 6:30 begging to go on a walk. Not wanting to waste the fact that I woke up early on a Sunday, I decided to not go back to bed but head to the bakery at 8am. I arrived like 2-3 minutes before opening and was surprised to see there were already more than ten people lined up at the bakery. Having worked a retail job, my coworkers and I get annoyed when people start lining up before opening, so I tried my best to arrive right on time. But the line was a bit much. Anyways, I respect that everyone working at the bakery doesn't seem one bit offended by the crowd and are so nice to the customers. Consequently, I'm glad I went for the Maritozzi. It was really good. But if it's this difficult to get one then I probably won't go for it again.
