I used to love this salon. I don't know if they're using cheap gel now but my gel mani lasted less than a week. I use gloves for dishwashing and don't use my hands for laborious work so I don't understand why they wouldn't last longer. I'll be looking for a new nail salon. Most of the staff there is friendly so I wish I didn't have to go elsewhere.
I wanted to get a mani and pedi for my sisters wedding this weekend. It's literally in 2 days. After reviewing some local shops, I decided this one since it was walking distance from the barbershop and was getting my son's haircut. I asked for mid tier gel pedi and regular gel mani. My pedi lady was amazing. She did a great job and the hot stone massage made this experience a little more tolerable. The biggest problem was my mani lady. I kid you not, it was the most PAINFUL mani I've ever had in my life. She was so rough and aggressive. She was literally jabbing into the corners of my finger bed with her sharp ass cuticle tool. She knicked me several times which caused me to bleed. I ultimately had to tell her to stop cleaning up my nails cause I was literally already bleeding on 3 fingers. Not 1, not 2 but THREE FINGERS. The alcohol and acetone that was used during the mani also burned like crazy since now I had open wounds. My hands look crusty and beat up since I have dried blood just chilling. My hands are literally ruined for the wedding. Mind you, I am also the MAID OF HONOR!!! I didn't voice my unsatisfactory as the women who did my mani, also rung me up and I try not to be confrontational. I understand businesses and foreign workers and try to sympathize as much as possible. Instead of making a scene inside the salon, I paid full price and included $10 tip for each of the ladies. In all honestly, my mani should've been completely comped. It was a clean facility and the staff were very nice. I'm sure the others may be better but this one in particular I will never use ever again.
I am so beyond happy it isn't even funny. I am the type that is incredibly loyal to my nail salon and went to my previous nail salon and nail tech Son for the better part of 6 years. She recently sold her salon and moved and I tried out the new nail techs that took over her salon.... And had the literal worst experience ever. They overbooked and kept me for 3 hours. I was willing to overlook that as I know Salon's get busy but I got a brand new acrylic set and one of the nails literally popped off in less than 48 hours and my toes were crooked and uneven and one was even cracked. I knew I had to find a new place. That's where Le My's comes in. Bryan did my acrylics, new set and fill and he is EXCELLENT. I've been getting acrylics and fills for almost 15 years and I LOVE his attention to detail and the quality of my set. He is quiet so don't expect him to chat you up during your service, but know he does great work. And I also got a pedicure done. I didn't have time for the deluxe service but it doesn't even matter because it was 10x better than what I had before and Hannah was able to fixed my nail shape (from the crack left by the former salon) and quality was great! I feel so much better! And I am so glad to have found a new Salon. They are busy, but I don't mind considering the service. Thank you to the team at Le My's nails!
My daughter took me to this place for my bday I was very very disappointed I asked for the deluxe pedicure I ended up being there for 2hrs and 30 mins Had 3 different ladies work on my toes and still didn't get it right The manager didn't care didn't offer my money back I Had to be calling and asking for the owner, the owner is never around Today I went to pick up a full refund No apologies Also there's no cosmetology license for any of this ladies working there He didn't care that I am diabetic and my toes were trimmed wrongly and it's a very risky for my medical condition I'll leave this pictures here they will speak for themselves I didn't mean to tap on 1 star I wanted 0 stars on my review
This is a long overdue review. I've been coming here for years, primarily because it's the only place I have found that the Gel lasts the full two weeks. Other places start chipping within a week. The ladies here are all so meticulous in their work, they take their time. It's also very affordable I pay $51 for a gel mani and a regular pedi. They prefer cash and I recommend making an appointment. I have never experienced any rudeness from any of the staff. The main guy has a stern voice but I have perceived more as he's busy and it's a cultural difference in communication styles vs. he's rude. I call to make appt's ahead of time and he's very kind.

This place is one of the best around downey. I usually get the spa pedicure deluxe ($25) plus a parafin wax treatment ($5). There will be a wait if you don't make an appointment. They usually spend one to two hours on your feet just for this $30 package. Remove calluses, clean and clip nails, massage feet, orange sugar scrub, hot wax, and a color of your choice. The male that worked on my foot was very attentive/amazing. Totally worth it if you don't have plans for a few hours. read more

They get busy on the weekends so make an appointment. I was one of the many that tried walking in and was asked to come at a later time in the day. Even then when I had come back people were still walking in and asked to come later on. Some girls have acrylics 24/7. Some girls never had acrylics. I was one of those until I woke up one day and wanted those pointy nails but didn't have the length for it so acrylics would be the only way to go. I came here for them. Since I didn't have an appointment I was asked to come a few hours later which I did but then still had to wait 30 more minutes. If they're going to be too busy to take a customer, just let them know. More people started coming and it wasn't until all the waiting chairs were taken that they decided to let everyone else know that they were too busy to take them. The acrylics + gel took about an hour and a half. It takes some getting used to functioning with long acrylics. The guy was nice and said if they were too long then I can come back in 2 days when he's working so that he can make them shorter for no charge. I didn't know how to use my hands for the first day that I had them but after that it was easy peasy and I didn't have to think about it. After 2 weeks my index finger acrylic nail was getting unlatched from the nail. Acrylics should have staying power even after the 2 week period. I got them removed at a different nail salon and none of my nails were badly damaged as much as I've seen in other acrylics horror stories. read more

Came here recently and decided to give this place a second try because Downey has NO good nail salons, even though last time I was offended and they really embarrassed me and treated my mom and I badly. But for this visit, I was pretty pleased. Mom and I each had a gel manicure. We called on Sunday at 1:30. The male that answers the phones and does the apps asked us to come in at 2:30. We did. I was taken at 2:50 and mom was taken at 3:10. I didn't mind the wait because they took their time with us and I think they did a good job. Two things I am displeased about: lots of solicitors just walk in and bother all the ladies having their nails done and the male in charge (I think he's the owner) didn't ask any of them to leave. Instead, he let each person come around and guilt his customers into donating money. First a kid selling chocolates, then a little boy taking donations for some summer program and then a Muslim lady with a baby in her arms begging in English and Spanish for money with a nicer stroller than mine parked around the corner outside the door. I have her $5 because I felt so bad seeing that darling little baby being carted around. People don't want to have to deal with all that stuff when they escape for a little while to relax and have their nails done. Next time, kick them out the second they appear at the threshold of your business. Don't let them bother your paying customers!!!! Lastly, after a week, my manicure started to appear like the tips had lifted and had a permanent dirty/darkly discolored tip to my polish. Not sure why this happened, but if it happens after I return here the next time, I will update my review appropriately. read more
Very clean nail shop, they have lots of nail polish varieties to choose, regular polish and gel polish. The massage chairs and foot tubs are always clean and the customer service is always great. I do advise to make an appointment for your service request because it does get packed. read more

I'm new to the area and I needed to find a place to get my nails done. I walked in and they were able to help me right of the bat. Nancy helped me. She did a great job.! She was very detailed with my nails and when I had a concern she would try to correct it. She also would ask if what she was doing was good. I'm glad I was able to find someone that listens to me when doing my nails. Very sweet lady! If you come here, I would recommend Nancy. :) read more

I got helped by the guy by the door and he was really sweet. Usually nail salons can't understand a word of English but not this one. Had a full on convo with him and he knew exactly what I wanted. I'm very picky with nails and I love these! He helped me pick out this color and its just perfect for spring. Cost was 21$ for just full set. read more

I have been coming to Le My's for several years now, and I love this shop. They truly are nice folk working here and do a good job, unlike many nail salons nowadays. The staff working here are very friendly, warm and inviting. They will actually talk to their clients if you so engage them. My mom and I are every 2 week regulars here, so we know the staff pretty well. Everyone seems to get along. For the most part, there does not seem to be a constant buzz of Vietnamese going on over your heads as you and fellow customers are being worked on and you sit and wonder "Are sitting here talking trash about us???" Brian and Jimmy run the shop and are both hands on owners and do their fair share of clients; they do not run around like tyrants barking orders at the rest of the staff as I have witnessed in other shops. Both of them are really nice guys. I have been worked on by Steve, Mindy, Tiffany, Monica, Lin, Sophia, Julie, Jimmy& a few others & I can honestly say that everyone does quality work and I have never been unhappy with a service. Le My's pricing structure is reasonable and competitive to other shops in the area; remember, you get what you pay for. Pros about Le My's: -Friendly staff -Decent & competitive prices -quality workmanship -clean Cons: -parking can be difficult: located on Downey Ave. in downtown -you may have to wait even if you have an appointment I will continue to be a loyal customer as long as they continue to uphold the quality of their services, their prices & retain their great staff. read more

I don't get manicures done very often, but when I do, I make sure I pick a place that has really good reviews. Le My's showed up in the top two of what I was looking for and after calling to ask about prices, Le My's cam out on top. The guy that greets you at the front seems t be the owner and he was very friendly. He asked me to have a seat while someone sets up a station and in the meanwhile, gave me nail swatches to look at. The girl who gave me my manicure (JC if I remember correctly) was very nice and so gentle! She took her time to make sure my nails looked good. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the owner was constantly smoking in the back and the wind would bring all the smoke into the building since he kept the door open. Other than that, it was a very good experience overall. Definitely going back! read more

5 stars well deserved. This review is for Mia. My mom is a salon owner so my expectations are higher than most. I have been waiting for years to find someone who would get in all the corners, take their time, and truly deliver a service, not just slap on some polish and ask for your credit card. Mia took her time, went back to other tools if she needed to. I got a gel manicure, and she filed things down nicely. She was patient, I had decided colors 3 different times. Found this place when I parked right in front of it on one of my trips to Porto's. I'm usually only in this part of town when I am visiting my in-laws. I've made it a point to visit them at least twice a month to come get my nails done here (although my gel mani's could last longer if my nails didnt grow so quickly!). I would suggest making appointments because they can get really busy! I've been there when they've turned people away for gels due to their booked schedule. They are decently priced! My recent visit cost me only $41 for gel mani, spa pedi and callus remover. Tanya is a perfectionist when it comes to gels but i've also had it done by other's and they are just as good. But I have to say, Jimmy gives the best pedicures hands down! I asked for callus remover (which they dont push on you like other nail shops) and he's got the muscles to do the job! No one should ever skimp on a callus remover! Another reason I like coming here is the fact that they carry on descent conversations with all their clients. Most nail shops I've been to, the technicians speak amongst themselves and in their native tongue purposely so you dont understand what they are saying. Overall, the customer service, cleanliness and workmanship is what keeps me coming back. There are plenty of nail shops by my job in Santa Monica and by my home in Sherman Oaks but I always wait until I have an excuse to go to Downey to get my nails done at Le My's. read more

Love this place! 34 bucks for a gel Mani and regular spa pedi?!?! I'm in! They do a better job than other places I've been to, the service is wonderful and they pay attention to detail...which i love! The only thing that sucked is that the color on my mani this last time around changed color and had some splotches!! But I've never had a problem any other time so will I go back? Yes! read more

This spot is my new place FOR SURE!! The owner is Tanya and she's awesome at gel mani (I make my appointments only with her) but the other staff is great too. They pay good attention to detail, which I LOVE because I'm a perfectionist n usually I wouldn't be super happy with the finish product at the other nail salons. It's better to make an appointments because they take their time with you and they won't rush just because they get a walking, which I LOVE TOO!!! I like that they pay more attention to the customer service and making your sure you have a experience, than making quick money and trying to get as many people as they can as fast as the can. I'm hoping as they grow in business (cuz she will, it's just to awesome) they don't change their A+++ customer service and attention to detail. I just moved to Downey 2 months ago and needed to find a new nail salon so i looked on here and they had good reviews and looked very clean. Well they really held up to my expectations. They are probably the best salon I have ever been too and I have been to many. Very clean, very friendly and great service. They take their time and do a great job. They are always busy so you might wait sometimes but so worth it. I have Monica do my gel Mani and she is seriously thee best! She just did mine for my wedding and the time before that and they seriously are perfect!! You have to go here and try it out. Everyone else does great pedis too!! They will not dissapoint read more

My 2nd visit and they continue to exceed my expectations. They have friendly customer service and keep the location clean. They also open a tool set for every client which adds to the cleanliness factor. I would highly recommend Mindy. Jimmy was also very thorough and did a good job with a previous pedicure. They both do a great job at figuring out what it is you want when you yourself aren't too sure! I would highly recommend this place. Plus, they're competitive in their pricing. My fiancée went to get her nails done and the service was horrible. When she asked for the tips to be filed and evened out the person doing her nails dropped his tools and told her to go to a different shop. He was extremely rude and impatient. I love getting my nails done here. I've had acrylics done at other nail salons but they've always chipped or broke before i could ever get the first fill. Now I'm currently back for my 3rd fill and nails still going strong. Very happy with the outcome and with the staff. You feel welcomed and unlike most nail salons, they take their time.
