Tuna tacos

This review is for LA MESA; according to my trusted resources (other yelpers) this is the page for them. It is absolutely beautiful inside!! I love a place that makes you feel as if you were transported away from the city and all your worries. The staff were all friendly and helpful with helping us get some photos. The highlight of the night were the fire dancers! Beautiful women with impressive skills. We had great service from everyone. One of our drinks was spilled and they rushed over to clean up the table and replace the drink. Food was brought out within 30 minutes and we were a group of 9 very hungry women. Hands down the BEST espresso martini I've had so far! Food ratings: 1. Corn riblets 5/5 2. Spicy truffle pasta 3/5 3. Lamb chops 4/5 4. Filet mignon tacos (comes with 3) 5/5 5. Wagyu sliders (comes with 3) 3/5 6. Tuna tacos (comes with 3) 5/5 7. Chili crunch potato 4/5 MAKE RESERVATIONS and be on time. We had a 2 hour time limit on a Thursday night.

I was not a fan of anything there. First off they don't tell you that there's a service charge on top of a tip. I paid $60 for two drinks that we're about $20 each and on top of that a 75 dollar service charge for the table, not including a tip. I wish they would tell you that at the beginning and not at the end. On top of that the food was not that good and half of our party got sick the next day. They also tell you that there's a show, but when I was there, I only saw the girl dancing once for like five minutes. I honestly would never come back and I do think that they overcharge for everything. Seriously I would rather go to beauty and Essex were you can have a six course meal for $45.

I came here with some friends. We made a reservation at 7pm to avoid the $1,000 fee. I loveed my filet tacos, the filet was cooked perfectly with the truffle aioli it was perfect and it melted in my mouth. They also have vegan items like the sliders and tacos. The drinks were also amazing too I usually don't finish my drinks but here I drank 2! There were also beautiful fire dancers who were very talented and entertaining to watch. The only annoying thing was they rushed us out right when we hit our 90 minutes. Which is understandable but one girl was telling us to leave before we even got our check.. It is super expensive so only come here for a special occasion and dress fancy.

How slept my sister and cousins surprised me at this place la mesa to celebrate my 30th birthday the ambiance was amazing our server Celine or Selena was sweet and attentive we got there at a great time the drinks are strong but good I babysat the hell out of mine but worth it . The appetizers were good also the steak. The dancers were so awesome and friendly I was bit drunk but I will never forget my experience here I shook Shawn's hand I think he was the manager on duty but her was really nice didn't ignore me so that was awesome thank you guys for an amazing night.

La Mesa restaurant review: I went for my birthday dinner and had a good experience. beautifully decorated, delicious drinks and food and enjoyed the fire dancers (we saw 2 performances). We had good service as well. Food- lamb chops, Chilean sea bass, and tuna tataki. The tuna was so fresh and melted in your mouth. The lamb chops were better than the sea bass. Drinks - whiskey sour and la coco (I believe). The whiskey sour was great! I wish the portions were larger given the price. The bathrooms also desperately need a remodel to watch the rest of it.

From the top: Spicy truffle pasta, truffle fries, salmon on top of cauliflower rice, and truffled cauliflower

Came here last night for my friend's birthday. We had a reservation but still waited over an hour for our table. We were able to get drinks at the bar area while we waited, but they took a long time to get too, and the bar area was crowded, and we were constantly in the way of servers running drinks to their tables. If you're coming here, be prepared for standing through long wait times! There was an acrobatic show while we waited, which was cool. The place is well decorated, and there were a couple spots to take pictures. Definitely Insta-friendly. The food and drinks were really good, which is why I still gave it 4 stars despite the wait. I got the Costa Azul cocktail, which was well balanced and looked cute. For food I got the salmon and truffled cauliflower. The salmon was delicious but the cauliflower rice it was served on was cold, which was unexpected. The truffled cauliflower had a yummy sauce and the batter was nice and crispy and flavorful. Presentation for food and drinks was nice too. Prices weren't too crazy in comparison to other similar lounges in the area, but maybe I'm too used to it being ridiculous prices just for ambiance.

That's what our view was the entire night lol...hope That mans not A married man...I couldn't post the video. Video was way better...

They have a min of 1000$. I was aware of that and totally ok with it! BUT HAD NO IDEA WE WOULD BE SEATED BEHIND THE DJ BOOTH WHICH COVERED THE ENTIRE VIEW. It was like sitting in a back parking lot. All we saw were two whores shaking their ass in front of our husbands the entire night and couldn't even hook up the dj lol. (The we're inside the dj booth) not an ok look at all... Our waitress was beautiful! And gave us amazing customer service. But other than that it was like we were sitting in a back parking lot! My husband paid almost $2000 for our bill! Totally not worth it! I'm so disappointed! We didn't even see the fire show or anything. Idk what we paid $2000 for. I wish we paid the waitress cash for her tip other wise this charge was going to get disputed! Thank your waitress! She was the sweetest girl! The fire show girls walk around after their main show and ask for min tips of 100$ to do a "private show" which we agreed BECAUSE THAT WAS THE ENTIRE REASON WHY WE CAME! Also for the $200 tip we left For the 2 min show I could have hired a private show for 1 hour at home lol Over all, totally NOT worth it. Will not be going here ever again. Also, thought the 8 year old little girl swinging on the swings was so weird... I would have rather spent 2000$ at Nobu. Posting videos of the two strippers shaking their ass in front of us all night lol

I WAS A VICTIM TO A SCAM DO NOT GET A TABEL HERE ! WHAT A DISGUSTING PLACE! Me and my friends on Saturday 1/22/2022 book a table at La Mesa for a minimum of 1500$, when we requested the bill we were shocked to see that they have raise our minimum to $2000 and wanted $2691 They said they are going to fix it and showed us a new bill of $1346 but when they got the card we were charged $2691, I asked to speak with a manager Few times and disagreed to sign the invoice because it was INCORRECT!!!! instead of letting me speak with a manager the security told me in a rude way , "if you don't sing you are out!" And soon after they took me out aggressively in front of all my friends, they threw me to the ground and I have bruises on my legs. I'm gonna dispute the charge and not recommend not on my friends to go there anymore, I'm really disappointed. As I see it's not the first time . Attached pictures of The receipt and pictures of bruises from the security people, please look at the table number as there an different order number and tow bills for 1 table 55:2 and 55:1

The ambiance is amazing and our food last night was really good. Having said that, I wish I had read the reviews before going (though a friend celebrating her birthday picked it, so I'm not sure I had any other option). As others state, the restaurant tacks on a 20% service charge (WHICH IS NOT A TIP and they are quite clear to tell you that) and a 3% "table fee." So, you're looking at anywhere from 35-45% more on your bill than what you ordered... and the prices are high to start. I would have sucked up the pricey menu for the atmosphere alone, but when you put ridiculous fees on that are not disclosed until the bill comes, coupled with average service (at best), no thank you. We had 7:15 PM reservations. It took nearly 40 minutes for our order to be taken after we our initial drink order. We had to attempt to flag down our server more than once, only to ask the busboy to find her for us. Then, the hostess came by and told us that people were waiting and we needed to wrap things up. When I pointed out that the service was slow and this was a product of their own doing, she copped an attitude with us. Drop the attitude - you're not that amazing and we won't be back. Like others said, I recommend you avoid here.

La Mesa Lounge My reservation was for 9:15 but we didn't get seated until closer to 10pm. I was really confused because there were multiple tables available but they still mad us wait. The hostess wasn't very friendly either. Food- Our server was great! She took our food order right away. I got the steak tacos which were really good. My friends got the pasta and the sushi roll and said the food was flavorful. One comment is that the portions are ridiculously small for the price. The chocolate hazelnut cake was delicious and I enjoyed every bite. Ambiance - The vibe here is really fun. There is entertainment throughout the night but if you're sitting too far out from the center, you may not get to get a close up of everything. We were able to watch everything from far but wished we were closer. Restaurant- Very cute and nicely decorated. The bathrooms were dirty and not well taken care of. Parking- Valet available for $20 I think this restaurant is definitely more for drinks/appetizer. The food was delicious but the portions were small.

Surprise added fee to the check... is this even necessary?

One reason we were sold on this place was because of the ambiance and decor. We were all so excited to have a girls night here and have this be our first stop. First off, before you make a reservation make sure you're fully aware of the minimum that you're required to spend if you have a reservation after a specific time or on a specific day. That alone rubbed me the wrong way from that start because no well known restaurant will ever ask you to spend a minimum. You either spend what you spend and that's it. Second, our server was horrible. She was friendly (Lindsay) but she dropped off our pitcher of the drink we ordered and never served us. I took it upon myself to serve the ice and pour our own drinks. Then, she would complain about little things when it was her job to begin with. The food itself was alright. Nothing special and the servings are very tiny for the price you're paying. The drinks were not impressive either. Also, we ordered a chocolate mousse for dessert for our friends bday and what we received was more like a fried ramen with sour cream inside and cheese. On the bill, it stated chocolate mousse but that was a lie. Another disappointment. Last, but not least it never stated anywhere there was a service charge/Covid fee tapped onto the bill. So beware of this so you're not surprised when you get an additional $75 on your check for the apparent PPE they have to wear- which they didn't have shields that apparently that fee was toward and the server gets 10% of. As cute as this place may be on Instagram, we had a much better time at our second reservation where the food was delicious and the drinks were too. Maybe hire more friendly people that actually want to be there and do their job. And state about hidden fees.

Soft Tacos

Came here for a music dancing night. Had so much fun, even when talking to strangers in their mask, it was super nice to be safely mingling during this pandemic. We had reservations and was seated right away. Food was good, drinks were bomb. Most importantly the music was super fun and loud, we ended up dancing at our table. This place is super poppin, recommend to come earlier than your reservation slot. Soft Tacos- these were decent, pretty looking too. Soft Shell Sliders- split half with my gf to stay thin, i thought they were delicious. I liked them a lot. Lamb Lollipops- thumbs up, not bad . Comes in only 2, so if you have more people got to order more. Glazed Octopus-my gf said it was sour, I thought it tasted really good, not too chewy. Burrata Salad- this bowl was worth getting, it was a nice appetizer with the toasts that came with it. I have already recommended this place with my party goer friends, a lot of attractive people to watch. It's def a fun place to be.

minimum you need to spend for a Thursday/ Friday is $1,000 on Saturday a minimum of $1,200 on food and drink to get reservations
Veronica D.

Would give it 0 stars if I could. We went last night to celebrate my birthday. The good: the drinks, jungle fever and fuego Margarita were delicious, great pours. Got there right when it opened and on time for our reservation and we were seated quickly. This is where the good ends! The bad: entire staff was running around still setting up after opening. No one came for our drink orders, after 15 minutes we flagged a Busser down to get a drink, he said they will be on their way and had no interest in helping us. Menu; only a few appetizers and a few main courses to choose from, very disappointing. Server told us about the special, which was the tomahawk steak. We decided to splurge and share. It arrived on a cutting board with just the tomahawk bone with some kind of meat all sliced up next to it with 1/12 carrots. Well, it was hardly steak, it was all fat, not nearly the correct ounces of meat she described. We have enjoyed fine dining all over LA and have never seen a tomahawk steak served this way or that tasted so horrible. Then the kicker was the check comes and the cutting board of fat they served us had a $170 price tag! Can you say overpriced? Reservation minimum after certain hours: this floored us, in order to make reservations on certain nights after 8:30pm you are required to spend $1,000 on Thursday's and Friday's and a minimum of $1,200 on Saturday. Seriously? They describe this place as being in Tulum, all they did was keep the old club lights up and throw some Michael's plastic vines up. This place is a joke and overrated at best. Save your money and try somewhere else! So disappointing! We will stick with Mastro's Ocean Club and Javier's!

We had two separate servers because one went home during the middle of our dinner and both were equally horrible. Not even exaggerating when I say we waited at least 15 minutes after we asked for the check and there were probably only 10 tables in the entire restaurant. And we had to call her back over to ask for a second time. SMH. The food although flavorful was so ridiculously priced it was not even funny. I got a "ribeye ". Was literally eight thin slices of steak, like 1" x 1" size for $42! No, I will not be coming back here for so many reasons. The view is great. Castaways is definitely not what it used to be in the way of quality but at least you get more and you get the view. But definitely not worth it going to this place. It was quite a frustrating evening. Also, if you do decide to go here, just bring a coat when it's a little bit cooler in the evenings cause it does get cold up here and getting the staff to manage the heaters correctly is a whole other frustration. Oh, and valet is your only option for parking up here. It's kind of crazy because a few years ago you could just go park in the lot or the garage that's available there but now they're charging you $11 and it's chaos. I will say that the view up here is great though so if you're willing to forgo all of that for a view for like a one time date or something like that, it might be worth it

I had placed a phone order, for pick up; upon arrival, I found the service was prompt. I saw my food ready to go, just past the main walk-in area. Almost immediately after that, I was taken care of by the host and on my way. I've been waiting to try this place for ages so on the drive back to work I was excited to steal a piece of meat from the bag. Initial bite flavor was good, meat was tender just a bit on the chewy side.. I wasn't bothered by it too much as I'd have to leave it in an oven warmer at work. Trying to keep food warm, in doing so, I knew there'd be only two possible outcomes, melting tender or either tough & dry. So, the dish of meat and rice sat in the warmer for almost an hour hour and a half. The downhill slope.... Set the "meat " on the veggies and began to eat. Meat after meat, I kept experiencing the same exact texture. It was the same exact rubbery chew, I initially tasted. Each and every piece was the same exact flavor. There was no peak, there was no pitfall. If you cook or grill, you know this is a red flag. Normally, consistency would be a good thing, a Master craftsman type experience, but this was NOT it. As go on, I get the sinking feeling, this can't be real meat. I lock in, the deeper I dig, each piece looks the same, broken apart the same, tastes the same, just various shapes. They can call me crazy for this one - I'll stand by it. Something is not right here. I'm not even going to throw it away. I'm going to study it for the next few days and post an updated review. My wife and my sister got the filet migons, watching my wife's euphoric reaction of taking her fist bite made my evening! The standout dish of the evening, however, was the short rib tacos. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, they were easily our favorite item of the meal and something we'd order again without hesitation. Our server was fantastic. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered thoughtful recommendations, and answered every question with confidence. Great service can elevate a meal, and he definitely contributed to an already excellent experience. However, the reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the valet parking experience. First, I was charged $25 even though the sign clearly stated that valet parking is $17 for the first 3 hours, and $25 after 3 hours. Our reservation was at 6:30 PM, we arrived on time, and we left before 9 PM, so the charge did not make sense. When I asked the valet attendant, he kept saying, "because you dined there," without giving any clear explanation. If it is actually a flat rate for restaurant guests, then that should be clearly stated upfront to customers. Second, when I got into my car, I noticed that someone had touched the navigation settings because the compass direction and display were different from what I normally use. I do not understand why there was any need to adjust or touch my navigation system at all. I really think the restaurant needs to improve and better manage its valet parking system. Honestly, it felt like I was being charged a random price just because I was told, "you dined there." If there is a flat valet rate for restaurant guests, that information should be clearly communicated upfront instead of leaving customers confused at the end.

We usually come here for happy hour with my coworkers so I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this…read moreplace yet. The Hideaway is exactly that. A small restaurant located inside this plaza in Beverly Hills that you would never know about unless someone told you. Every time I've been, the waiters, service and management have been so nice and come check on you constantly. There are several sections in the restaurant (I think 3 but I could be wrong), but we've dined in the main room which has a retractable ceiling for when it's too sunny out, they have a bar area that has a small little lounge section in the back of it, and it looks like there may be another section that I haven't been to. The place definitely gives off those Latin vibes and you feel it once you arrive. As for the food, my boss ordered appetizers for the table, which were shrimp tacos, flautas, and empanadas which were all very good! My favorite were the flautas with guac. For my main dish I went with the Chilean sea bass with a side of broccolini and rice. That sea bass was phenomenal! It had a nice sweet glaze on it with a very slit crisp texture on the top. One of the best! The Hideaway goes down as one of my favorite spots in Beverly Hills and I highly recommend checking it out. OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

Sergio responded to my review with NOTHING BUT LIES…read more Nobody was brought on stage for a birthday surprise. They wheeled the woman out in a cake on the main floor so that's LIE #1. If you have SUPPOSED FOOTAGE of me receiving this birthday surprise then please post it!!! I WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO SEE IT LIE#2. There were definitely not 10 acts and YES then entire chaotic mess of a show was only 15-20 minutes long!!! IF you have footage of a 90 minutes show then I'm sure you can post that as well LIE#3 The only thing Sergio didn't lie about is he didn't mention anything about the disgusting food and drinks I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT APPRECIATE ALL THESE LIES AND I HOPE NO ONE EVER WASTES THEIR MONEY ON THIS SHOW AGAIN!!!

Yeah I said it just 2 stars. Went this last Saturday to the show. Requirements were formal attire…read moremen in dress shirts ties or bow ties. We paid $260 for a 4 person table. Got seated on the top floor with these huge disco balls blocking our view 50% of the time. We had to leave our table and for a full view go downstairs for the show. I'll leave that there. Women dressed in formal wear. Yes I wore my heels and brushed off some dust ;) We got there thinking there was going to have at least an appetizer menu. We had to order $60 per person so we thought with appetizers it could happen easy. Well when we saw the menu: charcuterie board, pita chips with hummus, pizza. Ok we ordered the board and pita. What we got was white $.99 paper plates with down cheese, nuts, apricots. Ridiculous $22 for a paper plate. The pita chips came with no hummus in a paper boat they were all crumbs. I can't believe we paid so much money to dress up, get a $260 table for paper plates with no utensils, no hummus. Ordering 2 sets of these because we didn't want to get sick from drinking on an empty stomach. I believe we ordered 4 drinks each by the nights end (cups were small too) our bill came out to $413! We asked for a receipt to which the waitress stated she couldn't get us. So the night came out to close to $650! And we were served on paper plates, no meal. It's a rip off. The show was nice but we had to be walking around to actually see it. Never doing this again!
