I haven't been here in a few years (pre-pandemic), but this place used to be one of my regular spots and I still have a lot of great memories here. I worked in the building, so it was an easy go-to after work, and it never disappointed. The food was always solid, and the dimly lit atmosphere gave it that perfect laid-back, unwind-after-a-long-day vibe. It was especially a great chill spot earlier in the day before things picked up. Stumbled on this bar when our show at Montalban theater was cancelled. What a vibe. The DJ was spinning old skool classics from Chaka to Michael. WHEW. I had killed my set at the Laugh Factory earlier that evening and needed to catch a vibe and this was the move. I love this place! Security is very friendly but professional! I would've given 5 stars but I ordered an appetizer and a couple of drinks and water! I pay! Then I ask for a cup of ice on the side! I could get it! I just tipped you over 25 percent of my bill and to tell me that along with I have to pick up my food when it is ready didn't vibe with me! It's still a nice place to come! This review is for the well on Saturday nights. I've been coming to the well for a few years now and normally I would just visit during the week. This past weekend I came in on Saturday and I had no idea this was the turn up spot. I showed up with some friends around 11pm and were greeted by security. After a quick pat down I walked in and to my surprise it was damn near elbow to elbow. The dj was spinning classic and I guess modern rnb if there is such a thing. All the tables were taken so we stood by the wall after ordering drinks. I saw people eating but I'm not sure if the kitchen was still open by the time we got in. The crowd was heavily melanated which was dope because I don't see that often in Hollywood. Best place in Hollywood if you're trying to get THE HAPPY HOUR. I think it goes until 8. It's super convenient to have a parking lot next to it in such a busy area. Not to mention their wings and tacos are fantastic. And of course their bartenders are beyond excellent. Check it out on Tuesdays for rock nights and if you're trying to catch a Motown vibe go there Sundays. read more

4+ smallish cocktail lounge/ bar located in Hollywood conveniently located right across the street from the Hollywood Palladium. The few times I visited was around visiting the Palladium for concerts so the vibe was lively each time. Quick service and solid prices - there was a time where I had a somewhat rare pour of bourbon here for a relatively low price. My last visit here was before a show that me and three other friends were going to across the street and stopped here to kill some time and grab some drinks. They make some pretty good cocktails as well! I think I got an old fashioned. I can't say much about the food here, because I don't think I ever ordered any food here during my visits. Parking for this spot (and Palladium) is pretty tight but not impossible. If you are willing to walk a few blocks and depending on what night you are here, I think you should be able to find street parking no problem. Great vibe, great service -- easily one of the better nights out we've had in Hollywood. We stopped by on a whim and ended up staying longer than planned. The space itself is modern, clean, and has that low-key cool factor without feeling pretentious. Music and lighting were spot-on, and the crowd had a good mix of locals and visitors just out to have a good time. The bar team really makes the place -- Kirsty runs things with a calm, confident energy, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the guest experience. My husband and I stopped in recently and had such a great experience. The place is spotless -- seriously one of the cleaner bars we've been to in the area -- and the vibe strikes that perfect mix of trendy and comfortable. The music was great, the crowd was fun but not overbearing, and the bar service really stood out. Kirsty was behind the bar and couldn't have been friendlier or more on top of things (we later found out she's the GM -- makes total sense). The energy of this place is unmatched! from the amazing staff to the legendary Rock 'n' Roll/ skeleton key club Tuesdays that always bring the best vibes. Man I want to say that I love this place. I come here frequently and often it's popping with really great clientele and music. But some of the bar staff could use some retraining. There are some exceptions to the rule, but most are incredibly slow. They seem to sometimes be focused more on refilling water stations and doing stuff that isn't "getting drinks for customers" and you're kind of waiting there waving your cash or your card hoping that they see you, and then you got to wait for another 15 minutes to get your drink and close out. Retraining would be good just being eyes up so that they're focused on or paying attention to who needs a drink faster people queue up and they wait a long time just to get basic stuff. Just need them to LOOK UP more. But I wish them luck: clientele is great ,food is good, and management has the back of his staff, which always a good thing (just more training for bar staff, which seems to be a recurring critique judging from other reviews here)! read more

Love this bar! it's become kind of a home spot for me and my friends, during the summer especially it's ice cold in there, dark, no windows kind of feels like Vegas vibes with no way of knowing the outside.. eclectic, lots of different music and different nights. food is awesome. I dare you to step inside...the music, lighting, decor and vibe will pull you in and keep you there for hours. My new "happy" place in Hollywood...the bar is hopping with lots of mixers shaking, laughter, pouring and sipping. We cozied up to the bar and Kirstie made our drinks. Loved her look and her drinks were even better! All the bartenders were rockin their orders. Plenty of big leather comfy stools surrounded the entire circumference of the bar as well as leather high top booths. Vince, one of the owners, came out and introduced himself to us. He has owned The Well with his partner James since 2001. It was a private bar in the early 70's. *Metered Street parking available if you can find it. It's a solid 3 for me! Very nice and chill spot. I have been here once or twice before, pre Covid. It is designed in a circle so it give the space a nice flow. Bar is smacked in the middle, you can't miss it. I came into tonight for a friends bday. All bartenders except one was personable. Our group couldn't deal with the horrible bartenders attitude and we decided to go somewhere. I asked him if he didn't want to be here. He said you want me to fake a smile.... later I saw him chasing some girl he gave all his attention too that night. Dude your the bartender, people are watching you! Idk where to start but seeing that the professional "Owner" frequents the comments I'm sure he will reply something nasty per usual. I was having a great night just celebrating my sisters birthday when they turned around. The bartenders were extremely busy. I didn't like a drink that was made and tried to give it right back stating id wait for the first bartender who made it. Little did i know the owner was next to me. He tells me all his staff makes drinks the same and he can't have people just changing his policy ...ummm excuse me ! what is the policy? Last i checked you don't like something you ask for it to be redone. After he refused then rudely and repeatedly told me he was the owner, he said His staff answers to him and no one is making me a drink without him giving them the call...superrrrrr cringe. Of Course after now it escalating and going back and forth he did not like that i called him out about his customer service so of course he has me kicked out. Im Sorry where was the effort to just correct the issue? Now I'm kicked out of course I'm livid mad and saying things to him. This man just continues in his ignorance. I was even asked by onlookers was i okay. People appeared to be scared to even speak up. At that point of course i was embarrassed, upset, etc. Never heard of anyone just swinging around their power but offering no real solution. He told me he was the owner like 4 times in one setting. I rarely leave negative reviews. I typically address issues privately or simply choose not to return. However, after what I witnessed at The Well Lounge last night, I feel a responsibility to speak up for the safety and dignity of future guests. I visited on a Saturday night. The experience started off positively. Our first bartender (a gentleman with a ponytail) was kind and created a good atmosphere. At some point he stepped away to take care of other duties, and from there the energy behind the bar noticeably shifted. Several staff members became short, visibly frustrated, and communication declined sharply. A guest next to me simply tried to ask whether the original bartender was still serving. Another bartender, a man in a tie, responded that he could help but also stated he could no longer serve drinks. When the original bartender reappeared and was thanked for his service, his tone was irritated, and the staff dynamics seemed tense and unclear. Then a bartender named Kristy approached to assist. What should have been a simple request, ice and a splash of Sprite, escalated due to her condescending tone, talking over the guest, and not taking a moment to listen. The guest remained calm and even diffused the tension at one point, but Kristy continued speaking to him with hostility. The most disturbing moment occurred when, instead of acknowledging the miscommunication, Kristy accused the guest of "harassing" her even though he was calm, respectful, and simply trying to explain that no last call had been communicated before she began speaking to him that way. As a woman, hearing a false harassment accusation used to shut down another person (especially during a calm attempt to resolve a misunderstanding) was extremely upsetting. Misusing serious language like that is irresponsible and dangerous. False claims harm real victims who desperately need to be believed when actual harassment occurs. Throwing such statements around casually is not only unprofessional it contributes to a culture where genuine harm is minimized. When the guest asked for a refund, the situation escalated further. The owner (who I believe is Vincent Riverside) arrived and immediately took a hostile tone, refusing to allow the guest to explain the situation fully. He repeatedly talked over the guest, dismissed attempts at dialogue, and created a very tense and unwelcoming environment. Meanwhile, Kristy, who had said she was "done talking", continued interjecting, antagonizing, and waving her arms aggressively. It was noticeable that one bartender silently stepped back as if he had seen this pattern before and did not want to be involved. The overall interaction suggested: -Poor conflict resolution training -A management culture that encourages or tolerates hostility -A potentially unsafe environment for both guests and staff If this is how employees and guests are treated publicly, I can only imagine what the workplace environment is like behind the scenes. The guest eventually received his refund only after enduring continued condescension and defensiveness. I cannot recommend The Well Lounge to anyone seeking a respectful, safe, or professional atmosphere. If you do visit, please be mindful, stay aware of your surroundings, and keep your receipts. Everyone deserves to enjoy nightlife without hostility, intimidation, or false accusations. read more

The Well has become my new favorite spot in Hollywood because its super diverse. On Thursdays, I can go party, turn up and meet new people. On Sundays after leaving the studio I can go hear DJ As Is play some of the most soulful rare old school Jams and, it makes me feel like I'm back in my Grandma's house. Dark, windowless spot (I wouldn't really call it a "dive") right near the Palladium. It's always busy and well-air-conditioned, nice for popping in on a hot summer day.
