I've been coming here for boba since I was in high school and regularly came when I lived in the area, so it has a very special place in my heart. It's been about 2-3 years since I was here last and I'm really glad to see that they have been doing well and have even expanded into the space next door as well. As a "boba connoisseur" I was absolutely impressed with this shop! The interior had plenty of photo ops, great lighting and atmosphere, and it was clean. There were order kiosks and when I had a question about the menu, the employees were nice. I ordered the warm mango yuzu green tea for my mom and for myself I ordered the rose milk tea with boba. The temperature of the warm drink was perfect for the cold weather. Le Dessert Lab is the epitome of hit or miss. First few times here-- blown away and fell in love with their cakes and sago. Eventually the cracks started to show once we started ordering other drinks and desserts. Quantity over quality, anyone? For COVID safety purposes, masks are encouraged and tables are sanitized thoroughly. Staff largely wear masks. The lot is decked out in pink, cute, photo-ready decor, likely in hopes of drawing the Instagram crowds. Weirdly quiet every time we visit (no music??). Treats we've had luck with: - OREO MINI CAKE (lightly sweet, cradled in fluffy whipped cream) - STRAWBERRY MINI CAKE (just the right amount of tart and sweet) - MANGO SAGO (fresh mango! comes in a container and not a boba cup?) - OREO SNOW MOCHI (this is a DREAM. creamy & decadent in the softest mochi skin) Not-so-great: - GRASS JELLY AND TARO BALLS (tastes like canned grass jelly without draining the excess syrup... and the taro balls were hard and undercooked) - STRAWBERRY BOX CAKE (this is a ton of jam on very dry yellow cake) - BOBA MILK TEA CREPE CAKE (the artificial boba flavor is STRONG) - TARO SNOW MOCHI (bland. and the filling is somehow more paste-like than the oreo one) We still come back for the sago and mini cake......... Saw this new dessert shop on Yelp when visiting my parents so decided to try it as the interior looks super cute and menu looks good. I ordered 3 items: Super fruit tea: the lady at the counter misheard my sister's order and gave her the strawberry fruit tea. Didn't want to make it difficult for them so we kept it. It tasted syrupy and strawberry was a bit tart so I wasn't a fan. It wasn't very refreshing as I thought it would be. A bit disappointing. Brown sugar ice jelly: this was extremely disappointing! I was thinking it would be an icy dessert with jelly in brown sugar, but it was just clear jelly soaked in room temperature brown sugar syrup and topped with fruit, sesame seeds and crushed peanuts. It would've been helpful if the menu states there was nuts for those with nut allergy and description of what this dessert is. Do not recommend! Peach gum with snow ear: super bland, not sweet at all. There was barely any peach gum and snow ear... maybe it was over cooked to the point they it melted. For the price, I do not think it was worth it. I personally wouldn't come again, but maybe their cakes are better. However, their crepe cake didn't look freshly made and instead it seems like they were bought wholesale and cut in slices. read more

How does this place not have 5 stars?! I ordered through Postmates because I was already in my pjs when I decided I needed boba. I've never been here which is crazy considering how close it is. I love Taro and Mango so the taro coconut milk latte with mango sounded like heaven. They definitely delivered on the five star drink. I love the fresh mango and chunks of coconut. The competitive world of boba shops just got a little more competitive with this latest edition to the Pacific East Mall in Richmond, California. Le Dessert Lab is one of the rare boba shops that lives up to their title as in addition to boba pearl drinks, they sell everything from desserts to hot snacks, which makes them truly an experimental laboratory of sorts. One the day that I came with a few friends, it happened to be a holiday, but they were operating a full blast with a crowd outside waiting for their orders and enjoying their drinks. We came here because we were craving some boba milk tea drinks on this day, and when walking through the Pacific East Mall, we came to realize that there were few options beyond Le Dessert Lab to quench our thirst, which means that they certainly have their market cornered for boba and dessert lovers in this particular area. Nevertheless, they serve everything that one who craves boba would want, in addition to the requisite setups to take your social media images with your boba in hand. All except for one thing, and that's the trendy popping boba, of which they do not serve here at Le Dessert Lab and one of my friends just happens to be craving on this day. The boba menu at Le Dessert Lab is broken up into sections including Speciality Drinks, Classic Milk Tea, Blended Series, Lime Tea Series, Fruit Tea, and Sparkling Spritzer. The dessert menu is broken up into sections including Panna Cotta, Chinese Desserts, Homemade Snow Mochi, Homemade Cakes, in addition to the catch all Snacks menu. Of course, we came for their boba drinks, and here at Le Dessert Lab it's all ordered at one of their two touchscreen kiosks and it was challenging to inquire about their drinks with one of their staff personnel as they were all busy making drinks. We opted to order their Muddy Boba Milk Latte with no extra boba and at a 50 percent sweetness, and although my friend wanted a boba drink with strawberry flavored boba, but alas they didn't have any on their menu listed, nor did they have a strawberry flavored Sparkling Spritzer for some odd reason, so they opted to order their Strawberry Slushy with their choice of mango agar boba with no cheese foam and at a 50 percent sweetness. Our total bill was a bit over 15 dollars, which for two medium sized drinks is on the pricier side, but was to be expected, especially since again they are the only place in the mall in which one can find handcrafted boba drinks. It didn't take too long for our drinks to be called out, and the staff was super friendly despite the fact that they were all working on a holiday. I actually liked my Muddy Boba Milk Latte as it was a traditional milk tea boba with additional flavors of chocolate syrup, which gave the appearance of it resembling a traditional mudslide of sorts, and I was able to get a sip of my friend's Strawberry Slushy and I felt it was a solid drink, as the mango flavored boba were a fun twist but really strawberry flavored boba to balance out the flavors and this drink can really use the cheese flavor topping to add to overall savory taste of the drink. Would I return to Le Dessert Lab in the future? This is a serious possibility as their drinks are a fun combination of flavors and blends, but the competition is coming with new signage already up inside the mall of a key competitor. I give credit to Le Dessert Lab for not being your run of the mill boba tea shop, as they are trying to make it work in this challenging world of boba shops, and for that fact alone they should be supported and celebrated. read more

We tried this place recently and everything looked very trendy. The location was spacious, had ample seating and photo ops area. We used the self-service kiosk and ordered a bunch of drinks, popcorn chicken, and fries. My drink in particularly was ok but tasted a bit watered down and on the lighter sweetness side, the popcorn chicken tasted great but lost its crunchiness quickly in the paper bag, but the fries were well seasoned and tasty. Overall it was a nice stop but I recommend ordering drinks with normal sweetness or with higher tea ratio. read more

Been here a few times now. It's a nice spot to get desserts and sweets drinks in the Pacific East Mall. I most recently got their Osmanthus Honey Oolong Tea. I got it with normal ice, 50% sweet, boba, and lychee jelly. It was really good. The honey complemented the tea very well. I loved the different flavors and textures with the addition of the boba and lychee jelly. My girlfriend loved the flavor as well. The service was great. The employees were very sufficient in giving our order quickly. It is also nice to know that you can place your order through the machine. The decor of the place is pretty chill, yet somewhat trendy. Le Dessert Lab is one of the newest boba additions to Pacific East Mall. It replaces another boba spot, located in the same suite, but comes with some revamped interior, and a change in menu selections. Asthetics: While the interior looks mostly the same as its predecessor, the back wall has been revamped to provide some IG-friendly photo ops. In addition, some additional sofa seating has been added near the rear, which seemed to be really popular with the younger crowded, all of whom were fixated on their respective phones. Food: I only ordered a boba, so I can't speak to the rest of their offerings. For my visit, I opted for a Passion Fruit Mango Tea w/ boba. The drink came in a reusable cup with a neon spandex band for easier hold and cute branding. I found the drink to be lacking in Passion Fruit taste, which is odd because Passion Fruit is a very overpowering flavor. There was a decent quantity of mango fillings at the bottom, but the drink overall tasted very tea-heavy, and very lite in fruit flavors. Additionally, I found the boba pieces to be smaller than typical boba, and definitely firmer than I would prefer. Price: Paid $6.50 for the base Passion Fruit Mango Tea, plus an additional $0.50 for Honey Boba, and then another $0.50 for no ice, bringing the total to $8.23 after tax for a single boba drink that I was not overly impressed with. read more

First time here and ordered 1 muddy bobba milk latte and the mango homemade mochi. The drink was average, and I thought it was too sweet, but the bobba itself was really good. Chewy and gooey, good flavors. The star that would definitely bring me back here again and again is the MOCHI! WOW, seriously, I had 0 expectation, thinking it would be just mochi..but my first bite and I felt like I was eating clouds!!! Soft, fluffy, pillowy and fresh (from the mango chunks). The skin was sooooo thin yet elastic! The cream filling was light, like biting into a sweet cute dream. Cannot wait to try other flavors of their mochi and other desserts. We've come here a few times before and after their rebrand, and our picks have been consistently good. They also have touchscreen ordering at the counter, so you can live your best introvert life LOL This time we got taro milk tea and classic milk tea, and both were delicious as per usual! The boba is nice and chewy but not tough, the tea flavor is still tastable on the classic milk tea even at 100% sweetness, and the drinks came out super fast. My only wish is that they bring back the pudding topping, as it's my favorite common boba topping. The popcorn chicken is quite decent and seemingly cooked to order since it took longer than the drinks, and they give you a very generous helping. One of the staff members was nice enough to even hand deliver the chicken order to me once he came out with it, even though the order was to go, which was super sweet. They added some cute little crane game machines similar to the ones at Round 1, with cute little plush prizes but no big brand IPs. The interior is undeniably CUTE from the decorations to the layout of the desserts. However the drinks and food themselves are okay I guess I wouldn't put this as my favorite spot. Grapefruit tea - 9/10 for the fact that they do use actual jasmine tea because you can taste it but the grapefruit flavor is very minimal and outweighted by the jasmine. In reality i'd give it a 5/10 Thai Tea - 5/10 it taste more like a regular milk tea drink you'd get anywhere. There isn't a strong thai tea taste at all or even minimally. Popcorn Chicken - 5/10. The batter coating is superior to t4 popcorn chicken however the seasoning isnt better then t4. If they changed the seasoning to make it more flavorful rather than what tasted like pure white pepper it would be great. read more

Was excited to see that a new boba spot opened up in the Pacific East Mall, it's been difficult finding a casual place in the area to go to without having to travel to Berkeley. There was a mix of traditional tables and longer couch seating, with a selfie station in the corner. We got the Matcha Strawberry Panna Cotta, Mango Mochi, and Classic Milk Tea. The panna cotta did not have much of a strawberry flavor, it was predominantly tea based. Not a problem per say; however, it was a little bit of a letdown because we were expecting fruit flavor to come through as well. It had a creamy texture, and came in a small ramekin-like container. The mochi was more French-style rather than Japanese; the exterior batter was thin like a crepe, and the filling was comprised of whipped cream and mango pieces. The order came with three mochi; my partner definitely enjoyed the flavor of the dessert, whereas, I would have liked a little bit more chew to the exterior batter and more fruit flavor integrated in the cream. Most important of all was the classic milk tea (ordered 75% Sweet)! The boba was fresh and had a nice chew to them; however, I would recommend letting them sit in the liquid for a couple of minutes before drinking the beverage. The cold milk tea coupled with the warm boba was a little strange at first, but mixing them together and waiting for them to come to a similar temperature made it a more pleasurable experience. With that said, the tea flavor wasn't prominent, the drink was a little on the sweeter side. Overall, I would definitely come back if I was randomly craving boba, but still would travel out to Berkeley if I were to recommend a place to meet with friends or family! read more

Food: Salted egg yolk crepe cake: 4/5 This crepe cake was suggested as a favorite by the cashier/barista of le dessert lab. I decided to try it. It was pretty tasty and I liked the flavor. The sweetness was just right and it was a yummy sweet to have. Jasmine green milk tea: 1/5 This drink was lacking a lot. I asked for less ice and I was not informed that less ice also meant my drink wouldn't be filled to the top. That's a small thing compared to the real issue the flavor. Although I could taste some floral notes it was incredibly lacking in flavor. Like it straight up just tasted like milk mixed with a little bit of jasmine flavoring. So for them to call it a jasmine green milk tea is something that is falsely inaccurate and I would suggest either taking it off the menu and working on it or figuring out a way to infuse more tea/ jasmine flavor into it. At its current state it tastes like milk after you put Froot Loops. I really wish this place the best of luck in their journey and hope that the next time I give this place a try I can give it a better review for the drinks. Mood: The worker or owner was very nice to me and even made adjustments to the sugar level of my drink. It wasn't busy since they just opened last week. It's a very cute and aesthetic place to have a dessert cafe. Aesthetically it's a much bigger improvement from bubble loca the original place here. However, aesthetics is all you really get. We had a bad experience here. We waited about 20 min. for our number to be called. After 20 min., they started calling out numbers above ours. I asked about the drink and they apologized they'd lost it and said they'd make it right away. A woman started making it, then started doing other things. They had many people making drinks but seemed disorganized and unfocused. I asked again about 10 min. later, then again after another 10. Eventually someone made my drink. I had ordered a hot matcha latte. The "latte" she gave me was tepid -- room temp -- neither warm (let alone hot) nor cold/iced. It tasted bad.
