My cousin and I enjoy trying different boba shops whenever we hang out. Nomi Tea is relatively close to my house, yet I never felt drawn to go. We decided to try it and though it's not my favorite, it's nice to know there's a spot in Albany for a decent boba fix! The tea shop is well sized with several tables to sip and talk at. The inside is spacious and modern with minimal decorations. I found the service to be fine but not anything special. You order at the counter, they prepare your drink, and you enjoy! Being a tea shop they offer a plethora of milk tea, fruit tea, slushies, and so forth. Ice and sugar levels can be adjusted and dairy alternatives are available. I had the Sakura Oolong Milk Tea with less sugar and ice. Even though I chose a non-dairy creamer I felt that it was pretty watered down. There wasn't much Sakura or oolong flavor to it which was quite disappointing. My cousin has the Peach Oolong Milk Tea and I enjoyed hers more. If you're walking around Albany and want to support local, Nomi Tea is a quaint spot to grab boba. Find them off Solano Ave. with street and neighborhood parking. I found this place while walking down Solano Avenue and stopped by to try. I saw a unique "Sakura oolong milk tea" and was intrigued so I ordered it. It is comparable to a rose milk tea but more subtle taste and their boba was soft and chewy. The interior could use a little sprucing up, the store looked fairly new. Was craving iced tea + boba after a walk through of the lovely Berkeley Rose Garden, so we stoped here on the way back to the freeway toward home. The tea seems standard, but I'm giving this place 5 stars for customer service. They are still requiring online orders only and pickup at the door only, no entry to the restaurant (Covid precautions). Given that fact, we made a mistake when placing our order on the mobile website and didn't realize until we received our drinks. Despite the fact that the order error was our own fault, they offered to remake our drinks correctly, all for free. To top off the top notch experience, the my drink satisfied my craving perfectly. I love that this place offers dairy milk alternatives, as I'm lactose intolerant. Normally, tea shops make their standard 100% sugar drinks too sweet for my taste, and I order 50%. Nomi tea's menu is very clear that they suggest ordering 100% sweetness if it is your first time there. We ordered 50% and honestly it was 50% less sweet than what I was expecting. Having heard about the great boba shortage of 2021, I was determined to go get some myself as I have not had a chance to indulge in any for almost 2 months. Since I live in an area devoid of good boba establishments, I was pleasantly surprised to find on Yelp a place just 10mins away from me, saving me my usual trip to Berkeley. I placed my order online through Nomi's website, and was pleasantly pleased by their diverse options to choose from. There are plenty of free parking spots directly on Solano Ave, as well as plenty of parking off into the residential areas nearby as well. Order was ready and waiting for me by the time I arrived. And I simply needed to flag down one of the employees in the back to grab it for me as they don't appear to park anyone at the entrance. Ordered my usual Passionfruit Green Tea w/ boba. It was very delicious, and not too sweet or watered down like I find in some other places. Let me say this first...... if you don't have internet access, you can't order at this time Due to the pandemic, they only accept online ordering. So you put in your order first, they send you a text message to confirm and you wait for another text so you can go pick up your order. I find it very convenient to order online which you can choose sweetness and how much ice. I believe some of the items you can even choose dairy or non-dairy creamer for your drinks. They also suggest that if this is your first time, try their regular sweetness first then make adjustment later. I also LOVE their cup. The stopper is so cute and there is a place where you can put it when you want to drink ...... look at my pictures and you will know what I am talking about . Yesssssss I enjoyed taking the picture so much. So much that after I started driving and drinking, I felt weird ..... how come this time I am drinking boba tea different then other times???!!!??? My kids ordered mango slushie with boba and taro milk tea with boba and non dairy creamer which is standard that it's made suggested by the order taker. My oldest who ordered the taro milk tea said momma, I can't even drink it with straw because it's too thick! I opened the lid to see what it was and it was the texture was like cottage cheese and yes it was too thick to drink. I love this place because this is THE ONLY boba place that uses real fresh Taro, which I love and NOT the fake purple mix so there's actually bonded chunks of taro in it. I have been here a couple different times for beverages. My go to is the Mint Yoongi with popping boba. I have tried their Taro milk tea and did not like it. It's wayyy too thick which makes it a bit slimy. The description on their website is "Made with real taro root, not powder flavoring" which I guess might be the reason why the texture is so thick. Other drinks that I have tried are the slushies. We've had the pineapple, mango and passion fruit flavors. My little sister really enjoys their slushy and looks forward to me taking her here. There is a downside to this business: you cannot order when you get there. They only accept order ahead, which I find kinda silly LOL but anyways, you can only order on your phone and then pick it up at the window. Parking: this establishment is located on Solano Ave., which is very busy with a lot of traffic. Parking is definitely available. There's been a few times when I'm lucky enough to get a parking right out front and other times where I've had to park a bit rather. When you first walk in to order, the staff is not as friendly and they kind of brush you off when you are trying to get their attention to ask a question. I opted for my usual - the jasmine milk tea with boba. I was hoping the drink was good, even though the service was poor. The drink itself took awhile, despite being one of the only ones there. The tea itself was strong, but it was not as creamy as a milk tea should be and it tasted a bit watered down. This review is a few months late. I placed an online order for pickup (at the time, I believe they did not do face-to-face in-person ordering and were not allowing people to sit indoors), I ordered a crown cream oolong with 50% sweet and no ice, and my partner ordered a grapefruit green tea, 50% sweet and less ice. Both really weren't sweet at all, no wonder Nomi Tea's website suggests trying the drinks at 100% sweetness level the first time and then adjusting in the future if you still want less sweetness. So this place would be a good option if you prefer your tea on the less sweet side. The oolong was alright; since the cream is at the top of it, you should probably use a straw or else you'll probably get most of the cream in the beginning of drinking it and then it'll just be mostly plain tea for the rest. I also thought the grapefruit green tea was fine but didn't particularly stand out. They also had some BTS themed drinks on the menu - probably more of a marketing gimmick since I recall hearing that a long time ago they had some BTS special cups, but those seem to be predominantly non-caffeinated drinks. read more

DRINK: The tea flavor is pretty good and the normal sugar level was perfect for me and I usually get 50% sugar at most places. On their menu they suggest trying the recommended 100% if it is your first time and I completely agree. The boba was soft and chewy, but did not particularly stand out. Overall, the price is a bit high ($7 after tax and tip) but this is a very solid option. ORDERING AND PICK UP: As of August 2022 their indoor space is still not open to customers and you still have to order online. My drink was ready in about 10 minutes, but the site automatically gives you an estimate of 15 minutes. Plenty of parking on Solano as well as the side streets, though it can get a little busy on the weekends on a nice day. Wahoo! Bubble tea in just a short walk from home! Rather dangerous though, since the kids will pass by this on their walk over to Marin elementary. Nomi Tea is still working on a few things, including their hours. They were closing at 7PM when we (husband, 2 kids, and I) went, so we were glad we were able to make it to try this place. We got 4 drinks, and the total was over $20, which is just a bit more than our usual total at other boba places. We got the following - Mango slush - the kids shared this, and both kids were a huge fan of it. The slush wasn't too sweet, which we parents felt so much better since we believe there isn't as much sugar as a mango slush elsewhere. Berry Berry Matcha - real berries, mixed in with the matcha. Not too sweet (the theme here), and can actually taste both the matcha and the berries. Not bad! Premium milk tea with dark brown sugar pearls (x2 - one for me and one to go for my bro) - their 100% sweet is around equivalent to 50% sweet elsewhere. The dark brown sugar pearls cost a bit more than the regular, and the premium uses fresh milk instead of non-dairy creamer. The tea flavor was great, but I was unimpressed by the pearls, as they didn't have the dark brown sugar flavor, and they were very soggy! Couldn't tell the difference between these pearls and the regular ones in the mango slush. First impression is that maybe they do better with the fruit drinks here. They have a watermelon green tea drink that looked very good, so maybe I'll try that one next. They make their own syrup for sweetness and it's less sweet than other boba shops, which is great (for me). I usually get my stuff 50% sugar, but I don't need to modify that here because it's not as sweet by default. Excited to try the fruit drinks and the various jellies they have here. It's so nice to finally have a place that serves some good bubble tea in Albany. This is a brand new boba shop so please do note that right now they are doing a soft opening. I recall that the time they are open currently is 12-7pm. Parking might be difficult since it is on Solano and it is street parking. If you can't find street parking you could always do side street parking. When you enter the shop, it has a nice warm welcoming vibe to it along with a lot of open space. While their seats are comfy, I wouldn't recommend coming here to study because they do not have outlets. The staff in general are nice and they do speak loud when orders are up. I ended up getting the mango green tea along with lychee jelly and my boyfriend got the passion fruit green tea. He first asked if he could get it less sweet and the cashier told us that their teas are home made and are less sweet than other boba shops. My boyfriend still opted for the less sweet on his drink and he was happy he did that. He said his drink was still sweet even with the "less sweet" option. My drink was overall pretty good and it wasn't as sweet compared to my boyfriend's drink.
