I've seen Highwire Coffee Roasters in Oakland's Prescott Market but didn't get a chance to try them out since it was late in the day, but alas, today I did. Located within Flowerland Nursery is Highwire Coffee, so you get to sip & savor your cup of coffee while basking in the beautiful flowers. It was a special treat since they were holding their annual Winter Market for 2 days. There were food vendors, chocolates, sauces, & honey to be explored, which made it fun. Anyways, Highwire not only served coffee but Chai. I asked for a recommendation between the 2 Chai's(Tipu Masala or Kashmiri Chai) & got the Tipu Masala. It was aromatic with fresh chai tea & spices, the sweetness was perfect for me & would order this again as a coffee alternative. Was strolling down Solano and had a matcha craving. I heard that this place was really good, so I decided to swing by. I loveeeee that there is a flower shop right next to it. Everything was so beautiful and peaceful. I could picture myself getting up early and grabbing a matcha and reading a book here. The staff were very attentive to my requests and super nice to everyone. People were bringing their dogs and it felt like great community energy. As for the matcha-- woah!! It was so so good. The depth of the matcha was immaculate. You could tell it was not watered down and it definitely kept me a little too energized afterward. I can't even complain because it was so delicious. Super cute, located at Flowerland Nursery. We got the strawberry milk latte (my friend always orders it, it was my first time here)! They described it kind of like cereal milk, which I agree with, I personally couldn't really detect strawberry flavor. It was a more milk forward latte but good! I don't think they had straws. They have a unique menu! Fun to get a coffee then walk around the nursery. A local food company was also doing a food pop-up on site. This place has a beautifully creative location in a nursery on Solano Avenue. They are usually pretty busy, but given the cute location it's for a good reason. I've been here a few times before, and liked their Mexican Mochas. However, this time they no longer have that drink special, so I settled on a regular iced oat milk mocha. For $8, I was actually pretty disappointed. The mocha was super watery and i could barely taste the coffee. Funny enough, I've been to Highwire on multiple occasions with other friends but never as a customer. Craving a chai, I made a beeline here while walking my puppy. I'm happy I was able to finally try their well-received drinks and that I could take my puppy too since they're dog-friendly. The atmosphere here is immaculate! They operate out of a small coffee shop trailer inside of a nursey. There are a couple of tables, chairs, and benches in front of the trailer to sit at. It's so peaceful sipping on your drink, chit-chatting, all surrounded by flowers and trees. Customers are always happy and smiling and dogs are always so sweet here! I found the service to be super chill and friendly. My drink was made at record speed which was appreciated! My best friend told me long ago that this was her favorite place to get a chai. So of course, I had to get one! I opted for an Iced Masala Chai with Oat Milk. This chai got me wired--​it had a great blend of spices, bold, and aromatic. For chai lovers, this is a fantastic one. For those who prefer a weaker and creamy chai, this might not be for you. I'd come back again to try their other chai offering or a matcha latte! I was in the area and I needed to get my Matcha for the day and saw this place. What a very cute place to serve coffee within a garden nursery. This is just my vibe. It was pretty crowded for a Sunday morning, but I guess it was the usual Sunday morning crowd. It's definitely a neighborhood favorite as I drank my Matcha latte with straw syrup. I walked around the nursery, looking at plants and all the cute things they were selling. I am a shopaholic by nature so I had to refrain from looking at things I don't need. A super cute coffee shop to stop by when taking a walk down Solano Ave. It's a bit hidden inside the Flowerland Nursery, and it was fun to check out all the beautiful plants while waiting for our drinks. There was an adorable gray kitten with a bow tie lazing around. I ordered a Strawberry Latte while my boyfriend ordered a Spring Mint Matcha. The matcha was refreshing with a hint of mint, and not overly sweet or heavy. The strawberry latte didn't really have any strawberry taste- it just looked and tasted like a well made latte so I thought I grabbed the wrong drink. The barista was super nice and offered to add more strawberry syrup. The drink was described as similar to strawberry Nesquik and cereal milk, I'd consider that false advertising haha. A friend referred me to this coffee shop. It's next to a plant store. It's outside you just order at the cute little airstream. There's a couple chairs and tables but it's really grab and hold. Lucky that Solano was walking distance from my old apartment, I had a chance to try all the local biz on the street. Highwire is definitely one of my favorites~ I like to stop by whenever I'm in the area. Their little cart inside Flowerland is just too cute to ignore. While there's not much seating (maybe 2-3 tables max), customers tend to linger around the area and nursery chatting away-- feels quite community-oriented and homey. This has got to be my new fav coffee spot in Albany!! It's outdoors, and with cute tables/seats located inside the plant nursery. Seemed like dog friendly as well (if your dog is well behaved of course). Had actually never tried Highwire before. It's a smooth coffee specially the espresso. Really cute spot and has great coffee. The decaf latte was nutty, roasted goodness. Not at all watery or acidic like some other spots. The chai is a bit too sweet for my taste, I am still looking for a place with a not too sweet chai. They had some third culture muffins (yum, so good), do yourself a favor and order one (if they are willing to heat it up opt for that). The environment is very relaxed, there's a little area of garden seating you can enjoy your drinks. Or you can meander around the nursery, plenty to look at with home goods and plants. How adorable! A coffee shop in a tiny airstream amongst flowers and plants and tons of dogs! We happened upon this coffee shop while we were walking along Solano waiting for a pretzel place to open. We ordered coffee, a vanilla latte and thought what the heck? Let's get a Kouign Amman and a morning bun while we are at it? Everything was good. The only bad thing is that I asked what the seasonal Kouign Amman was and was told it was fig and walnut. I was so excited for that. Highwire Coffee is one of my favorite coffee shops here in the Bay and I have high expectations for this place. Today was a letdown. I give them credit for making the best Masala/Kashmiri chai with Tipu's Chai and their great cup of cappuccinos. I also appreciated the Business Manager following up with my review back in 2018 when I asked about having an iced chai. My experience on a Saturday mid-afternoon was not the most pleasant. I took my friend here to show how wonderful this place is, but left me disappointed. It was a hot sunny day and I wanted an iced drink, so I got the iced latte. I asked the barista how many shots it was and he said 2 shots. When I saw my drink...it looked so milky; there was barely any color to it. I could barely taste the coffee considering it was TWO shots. The iced latte was like I was drinking milk. I haven't had iced lattes frequently, so I'm giving the benefit of the doubt. And concluding that iced lattes are for milk lovers, rather than coffee lovers...and I will no longer be getting an iced latte here. To top it all off, when I received my drink, I asked for a straw. One of the baristas told me there aren't any straws and it has a sippy lid. No duh?!? The barista spoke in a tone that made it sound like I was stupid for not knowing that. Do they realize that some people prefer to drink iced coffee with straws? Look it up. I understand the commotion on straw usage, but hey Highwire, why don't you consider biodegradable straws for your customers? read more

This is by far the best coffee at the best rates you can find in the area (Berkeley-Albany-Oakland). Also, what a cute spot they have by the nursery. Been getting coffee (brewed as well as beans) frequently from this place for a few years now. Coffee is typically great, very rare to get a bad batch of roast beans or a bad brew. Giving three stars only because they have been saying they ran out of regular coffee if you show up any time after 3:15PM ish. Then they will ask if they can make you an Americano or something (the more expensive ones on the list?!). This happened 3 times in a row lately for us. Not a huge menu but love that they have both almond & oat milk and pastry options like kouign-amanns & churro custard muffins.
