Ofcourse i will return. The Decor is phenomenal. It feels like you left Brooklyn, lol dare I say left New York lol. The service started off strong. The servers were pleasant and coming out in a timely matter. Apps were served nice and hot. Then all of sudden the busier they got you weren't able to find a server and our main entrees took a very long time to come out. It seems the staff got overwhelmed. On a high note the food temperature was great, portions were sizeable. I came during restaurant week. Looking at the regular menu the prices are decent considering the quality and portions. I had the scallion pancakes. They didn't have enough filling. My brother ordered the wings those were nice and crispy. I had the Kung pao chicken and garlic mash. Good flavors. He ordered the sweet and sour chicken with chicken fried rice. Very tasty . The dessert was a bit underwhelming. 8 The cocktails were extremely good unfortunately I forget the names. My man and I came on a Wednesday, which was perfect because it wasn't too packed but not too empty neither. When we first arrived we loved the ambiance of the restaurant already. He was like ohhhh weeee Nice Lol... We were seated right away and earlier than our original reservation of 930. Alex the waiter greeted us immediately and offer us drink options to start. The service was great, the food arrived promptly and flavorful. My man who's anti-social was engaging heavily with Alex and another staff member making jokes and enjoying his birthday outing. Alex and the owner made a 2nd attempt of the birthday surprise cake and song and it ended the night beautifully. I went to Le Chai yesterday to celebrate "Galentine's" with my family, and the drinks and appetizers were amazing. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but it had hibiscus and D'USSÉ, and it was absolutely incredible. For appetizers, we got two platters and the papaya salad--both were delicious. The calamari and the dips that came with the platter were especially good. That said, my entrée--shrimp and broccoli--was pretty underwhelming. I've heard great things about it, but it didn't live up to the hype for me. Another downside was receiving dirty glasses more than once. I work in the restaurant industry, so I understand that dishwashers don't always do a perfect job, but ensuring patrons receive clean glasses is important. No one wants to see something floating in their drink or deal with a greasy glass. Despite that, I'll definitely be back--just not on a busy day like Saturday. I'll give it another try on a weekday instead. read more

Le Chai is a beautiful restaurant in Mill Basin Brooklyn. It has a beautiful theme , I honestly wished I took more pictures . The inside is perfect for birthday dinners or a dinner for a special occasion. It was Asian - Caribbean cuisine so I was quite excited to try it and the food did not disappoint. The food was flavorful, tasteful and filling. For appetizers I tried their appetizer sampler, which came with vegetable spring rolls, calamari , chicken wings, fried shrimp. If you are a person who enjoys tempura items , the fried shrimp and the calamari is for you. The spring rolls and wings were my favorite parts of the appetizer. The appetizer came with sweet chili sauce and another sauce (not to sure what is was but it was hot). For entrees I tried the drunken noodle with shrimp and the basil Thai fried rice with shrimp. Both meals were exquisite. The drinks were good too. I tried to drinks from the menu and id honestly get both again. Portions are fair at this establishment and I left full with two take home boxes( one for each entree). I really couldn't decide what I wanted so I got both. The staff was very friendly, and attentive, my server was able to answer the questions I had and also made recommendations based on what I wanted. Overall I would return here because I enjoyed my experience , I also went on a Thursday night which I was told is the only night they have a live DJ. read more

This is my 4th time to La Chai. Every time, it was close to opening, so the place wasn't too crowded. And the service was great! Tonight, however, was very different. We came here because the wait at another restaurant was too long. We were seated immediately, but after 10 minutes, we still hadn't received a menu. I called the hostess desk to request menus. As I hung up, our waiter came to us to ask if we were ready to place our drink order. As I was telling him we had no menus, the hostess approached with them. We look over the menus and when he returns, we place both our drink and food order. 5 minutes later, a table of 2 were seated (with their menus). Within 20 minutes they'd ordered and had their drinks. We still hadn't received our drinks. My friend turns to try to get our waiters attention. Then eventually it turned into anyone's attention because no one was acknowledging her. At this point, I'm ready to go but she wants to talk to our server, so I loudly yell excuse me and everyone looked at me, including our waiter. Lol He comes. She explains that we've been waiting and we've received nothing but people coming in after us were being served. He told us the bar ran out of the liquor needed to make one of our drinks so they had to run to the liquor store... he then said the ladies had ordered at the bar. 5 minutes after he left, our drinks came out. And minutes after that, our food. Like I said I've been here before. I've frequented this place many times. And I always get the skirt steak. The portion was always enough for me to have leftover. I finished the whole steak and majority of my side. The price was the same, though. We should've been comped at least one of our drinks. Or a side, since it was cheaper than the drinks. But something. They clearly dropped the ball if they're trying to be an upscale restaurant. As much as I love this place, customer service is too important to me. And their prices are too high. In order to be seated our full party had to present and we had to order and pay our full bill upfront from a prixe fixe menu BEFORE being seated. Mind you, we had a reservation and the restaurant was EMPTY. Ok so now we are seated. It took 1 FULL hour for our appetizers to be tabled And then another half hour for the pre ordered entrees to come out. The bar service was nice enough. But the overall experience was not a good one. My sister makes better food. I don't know if people have walked out without paying their bill but this was VERY off putting.especially for the price. I am hoping this restaurant does not succumb to the unfortunate decline of others: change in chefs - decline in quality of food - burnt out - horrible customer service. Back to the restaurant, the inside is beautiful the pictures on Yelp do it no justice. Our waiter was Mike who was phenomenal and gave great menu suggestions. The food was flavorful. I've seen 2 reviews reporting that the food was bland, I'm not sure if that was an initial problem that they worked out but it has not been my experience at all. Please do not think because it is on Utica Ave that you will not be getting a 5-star experience. I would not recommend this establishment at all. The food quality is very sub par. The menu is extremely over priced for food you can easily purchase at any nearby for restaurant for a significantly lower price point. The waiter made the experience even more underwhelming. We ordered a wine bottle for the table and he pour the ENTIRE glass full before even allowing us to try the fine. He charged us extra because we requested a replacement side. He said all entrees come with asparagus as part of the presentation lol. Inside of be courteous, he offered to removed the extra side order but will still charge us for is error and inadequate service. What I liked most was the layout of the floor sitting. It's not cramped, however I have a few complaints. Why is the music so loud on a Thursday night? The ambiance of the place is giving soft life with a gentle lover in Portugal but the song choices was giving daggering on a Saturday night in a Brooklyn basement party. My pad Thai was way too sweet and they gave me whole shelled peanuts like I'm eating at a sports bar or something. The salad I got for my appetizer was yummy tho. I came here to meet a friend and catch up but we could even hear each over the loud music. Some nice suttle Rnb, jazz, loversrock, or even Afroalte would have really helped make experience be better. Even if the food wasn't not that great at least I would have been able to have a conversation with my friend. Please fix it! read more

I want to start this review with the positives. The restaurant was very clean, the staff were extremely welcoming, and the ambiance and aesthetics were on point. The atmosphere was really nice, although I do wish they offered hookah. The drinks were very good. I ordered the lychee martini, which was both strong and delicious. To start, we ordered several appetizers including the wings, spring rolls, fried chicken dumplings, and calamari. Everything was great until I tried the calamari. While the batter itself was very flavorful, the calamari was extremely chewy. It was so chewy that the fibrous tissue would actually pop out after taking a bite, which both looked and felt like chewing rubber bands. I was honestly shocked because many reviews praised the calamari, so this was very disappointing. When our main courses arrived, my cousin ordered the pineapple rice and unfortunately found a hair in it, so it had to be sent back. I ordered the Singapore mei fun, which I had high hopes for based on the reviews. However, it ended up tasting almost entirely like sesame oil. I did not taste any curry at all, and the overall flavor profile felt off. It was also extremely oily. Thankfully, I ordered a side of egg shrimp fried rice with medium spice, which was excellent and probably the highlight of the meal. The manager did come over to check on our table and we explained the issues we experienced with the food. Nothing was removed from the bill, which is fine, but in my opinion it was a missed opportunity to address the issues during our meal and turn the experience around. Overall, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and friendly staff, but the food quality during our visit did not live up to the strong reviews we had read beforehand. read more

This is my review of the popular black owned Thai restaurant located in Brooklyn New York. The decor is very upscale with low lighting and a musical mix of Afrobeats and R&B. The menu has a decent amount of options with a large price range. For drinks, I had the Algamate, which had a nice mix of liquor and it wasn't too sweet. For appetizers, we had the spring rolls and chicken, wings. The appetizers, had a nice sweet chili sauce. For entrées, we ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken and the sweet-and-sour chicken. The food tasted great and customer service was fast. Overall I would experience a 9 out of 10. read more

Valentine's Day service was a disaster. We were required to use the prix fix menu at $145 per person. This was information not provided at the time the reservation was made. There were tables crammed together to squeeze as many people in there as possible. Literally grazing other people's tables trying to walk in and out. We were there 2 hours and only received our drinks. No appetizer, no main course. The couple next to us was there for 3 hours and only got their appetizers. The restaurant ran out of steak. This was an awful experience! And the restaurant removed the Instagram post that was getting negative responses. I never leave reviews but last night was so egregious that Le Chai needs to be held accountable. It felt like a money grab. A horrible way to treat the community. I want to support a Black Owned business but we have to do better. I do not think I or my family will be returning! read more

There are so many incredible new restaurants in Brooklyn and Le Chai is definitely one of them. The bestie and I were looking to explore some fine dining options outside of Manhattan and we settled on this gem. Metered street parking is available until 7 pm which was super convenient. Visiting on a Wednesday evening right after work, I was pleasantly surprised by the already lively atmosphere. The hostess was super cute and complimentary setting the mood for a fun night out. We weren't able to make a reservation prior to arriving but were able to grab a table. I'm glad we came when we did because by 8, they were in full swing. Now this place is absolutely stunning, and no shade to the sleepy community of Flatlands. It's a relatively quiet and residential neighborhood with lots of private homes and small businesses. When you step into Le Chai you definitely feel its opulence. Moody, sexy, and sophisticated - it gives off Manhattan/Downtown BK vibes. However, I'm happy to have these sorts of establishments all over the greater NYC area, particularly in BK. We wanted to try a few things and opted for the fried appetizer platter (calamari, shrimp, wings, spring rolls). The platter hit the spot - but the calamari was the star, lightly breaded and super flavorful. The Hibiscus cocktails we ordered were well balanced and tasty. We shared lambchops and drunken noodles with shrimp which were very good. Watch out for the spiciness if you're anything like me. Noodles were "medium" spicy but packed a punch. I wish we would've have taken pics but were so excited to devour everything. We ended our meal with the most amazing, velvety apple crumble cheesecake. Wow! Chris, the manager, was super cool. He came up to our table and chatted with us for a few mins about the restaurant's origins and shared some of his recommendations. He mentioned that Le Chai is part of the Brooklyn Chop House family and the owner wanted to bring those vibes to the borough. So well done. Yes, they're pricey but very much worth it. They are charging Manhattan prices in the hood of Brooklyn, which would be fine if everything was top tier. The service was completely terrible. Only two servers and one bartender the night before Thanksgiving. I feel like I spent most of my time WAITING than actually being serviced. It was completely terrible ridiculous. Located in the of Brooklyn.. this place has allll the vibes. We celebrated my friends birthday here and as soon as she arrived her first sentence was "This place is NIIIICEE" lol We started off with drinks at the bar and went for their signature drink "Le Chai Hibiscus" this drink deff had a punch and was made with sorrel from a local vendor that was A1!! We then sat for dinner and all of the food was delicious, fresh and innovative. The "Le Chair Flounder" was actually filleted (removed from the skin) then the skin and fish were fried to make a fish bowl... so impressive and absolutely delicious. They also had a number of deserts to choose from also from local vendors that can cure any sweet tooth I loved the attention to detail in every aspect, from the decor, to the drinks and items on the menu. I also loved speaking with the owner, it was great to get a take on what it took to make his vision come to life and he did an amazing job . I thought the experience at Le Chai was okay. Food 4/5 The food was delicious, fresh, well seasoned and well cooked. The combination sampler: 3 shrimp, 2 pieces of chicken drum and flat separated, plenty of calamari, 3 spring rolls and duck sauce and hot sauce. The breading was perfect. Good value, shareable, filling. Lamb chops: cooked perfectly to our preference with a nice chimichurri. Accompanied by off-menu mash potatoes that were a real winner. Lobster and shrimp in chili basil: At that price point, the plating could have been a little better. The course chop on the vegetables in the lobster and shrimp kind of gave homecooking vibes versus restaurant quality vibes. We also were not told that this was one lobster tail cut up into 4-5 pieces. For $85 a lobster tail and a couple of shrimp, not a good value. The drinks left a little to be desired as the flavor of the Amalgamate seemed watered down and not very nuanced for an $18 drink. I also think the drink menu should be a little more expansive with wine and beer options. Service 4/5 Service was speedy. Our waitress was friendly. Ambiance 3.5/5 The bamboo cutlery was a fun touch. The tables are on the smaller side compared to the size of the plates. I also think fake flowers on the tables are a little tacky for a restaurant where each person is spending at least $100, it would be better to eliminate them or have real flowers. It was a bit humid in there. I also didn't love being solicited to take a photo for $27 thirty minutes into my meal or at all for that matter. It was nice that the plates were shareable. Although the menu was generally well executed, the menu items were not especially innovative and given the price point and location, I don't see myself returning. read more

The food and the service were exceptional, I had the bone in rib eye and she had the lamb chops which were both properly seasoned to our liking. To be honest I walked in not expecting a lot but I was greatly surprised it was perfectly lit and not too loud.
