Fish Tacos 3
Kiana G.

A quick little bite to eat that turned to be a pleasant surprise. I heard a few things about things spot so I got here early to ensure I would have a comfortable time and seat. Service was okay. There were only 2 servers however it took a significant amount of time to get her attention when we needed (order more drinks etc). Order to table timing was pretty good but i had to wait several minutes at a time before my self or table could order additional drinks, food, etc. I love that they have SOOO MANY options to pick. From tacos to drinks I was impressed. I ordered the fish tacos which came out fried. I wasn't mad at that but the fish wasn't all that flavorful. It tasted pretty bland almost like a piece of frozen fish. My friend let me try her shrimp tacos which came and MAN I wish i would have ordered that instead because that shrimp was not only fresh and DELICIOUS. I was so tempted to return my plate back that's how good that shrimp was. My biggest recommendation would be to get here a bit early or call to reserve as they packed pretty quickly. Other than that would definitely put this on my local go to list.

From the walk up the place is dry chic, I loved the Frida art spread around. The owner created us with a pinch of history and the inspiration to the Domican-Mexican fusion theme. The food was great! I found a new place to frequent when in Mill Basin

After a long day being at the car dealership for 8.5hrs, I decided to try FRIDA after discovering the restaurant through the YELP app. Walked into Happy Hour (not properly attired for the evening affair ) my daughter and I sat down for our first meal of the day. We ordered Birria Empanadas, Bolos de Yuca, Birria, Al Pastor & fish tacos. The entrees were the tacos and it comes with a side of black beans & rice. EVERYTHING WAS TASTY & SO GOOOOODDDD! My daughter really enjoyed the Birria meat and consommé... it was the best consommé we've had. Everything tasted fresh. The service was great. The restaurant is decorated quite lovely and has a vibe to it (as per my daughter's words). We really loved everything about it. We will definitely go back to try more dishes on the menu. FYI: gratuity is included on the bill so budget for the 18% they charge

Decided to randomly try this restaurant and it was such a great decision! The restaurant was packed. There is indoor and an enclosed outdoor area for seating. I got a seat at the bar. The bar area is small and has seating for about 4-5 people. It was nice to see how all the drinks were created while sitting there. There is a QR code for the menu. There are also hard copies of the menu. It took a while for me to place my order because the bartenders were really busy making drinks. I ordered the coco loco. The presentation was beautiful and the drink was delicious. Hands down the best drink I have had this year. I would come back for this alone. I ordered three tacos. I got the shrimp taco which I really enjoyed. I got the fish taco which was really good. I also ordered the birria taco. It comes with a consommé. The bartender suggested adding cheese to the taco which I did. However, I couldn't really taste the cheese. The rice and beans were good but it would be easier to eat if it came in a bigger container. I also was expecting more rice and beans. The hot sauce was amazing. For dessert I got the churros. I didn't care for the caramel sauce. I really liked the chocolate sauce. This dessert is big enough to share with others. I really enjoyed the churros and would highly recommend it. The staff were pleasant. I look forward to returning again and trying more dishes and drinks.

First Sunday Brunch of the year! Frida is in my neighborhood and is an added emphasis to a boring food area. Only hiccups is the parking on a Sunday was tough because it is a residential area. The restaurant is cute but tight. We made reservations which I am glad we did because it was packed. Towards the end of Brunch the restaurant emptied a bit. It isnt a big restaurant so be prepared to have someine close to you. Service wasnt the best. Our waiter just wasnt as attentive. The food was good though. I had flight of tacos (shrimp, al pastor, birria) it was all tasty. The guac and chips were tasty too. They have happy hour on Sundays and that was clutch. I would definitely be back.

I visited this restaurant for the first time last weekend and I must say that I had a good time. We arrived for our 5pm reservation and the restaurant wasn't packed for a Saturday afternoon. It is small inside but I can see that they are very popular. A lot people came in to place to go orders. I started off with a passion fruit margarita which was strong but tasty. For my appetizer I had the nachos with chicken. The chicken could've been a little more seasoned. My sister ordered the Tostoncitos with Birria and they were delicious. For my entree I had the Birria Mofongo which was very good. The beef was well prepared and seasoned to perfection. The servers were very good and provided excellent customer service. I would definitely come back to try other options on the menu. My sister and brother enjoyed their entrees as well.

Amazing experience. Came for a solo date on Valentine's Day and it was definitely worth while. I was sat at the bar since it was just a party of one and I didn't mind it. Marcelo ( one of the owners) was so kind in approach and a very talented bartender. Him and Nemo (another talented bartender) worked so well together and really handcrafted each drink with love as I was there to watch with my own eyes since it's such an intimate space. I ordered the French kiss ( a Valentine's Day special but i requested for it to be on the main menu since it was so delicious ) and the Bougie G! I had the Birria Empanada and enjoyed it so much that I ordered two plus the hot peppers. Overall great experience loved the whole staff. Major shoutout to Chris and the young lady hostess tonight.

Went to check this spot out with my girlfriend after seeing it on IG and the aesthetics are so freaking adorable!!! From the beautiful entrance to all of the cute decor indoor! Perfect photo ops!!! Such a cool Dominican/Mexican fusion!!! The hostess was welcoming and the wait staff so attentive!!! They would check on us and see how we were doing. We came for brunch on a Saturday and the music was everything! They were playing típico, felt like I was in the campo in DR. We had for appetizers: the salami, queso frito and tostones with our lychee margaritas; for the meal we had coconut margaritas and I had the Tres Golpes, my friend had the shrimp and fish tacos and she said they were delicious. Our meal and drinks were awesome and highly recommend this spot to everyone to try it out! Make your reservations!!!

This is my first time hearing of Dominican Mexican fusion and they do it well. They have a lot of good items on their menu to choose from. I started with the tres Golpes, yucca balls, And birria empanada. They do everything right. You get a sauce on the side for each dish and I can't complain about the portions. Then I had the birria Chimi sandwich and birria Mofongo. Mixing 2 different worlds into one. I was surprised but it actually works. Plus they have a brunch menu on the weekend. I got to try the Chilaquiles and they were addicting. Next time I want to try the chicken and waffles. Be mindful it can get packed here. The aesthetics are nice. It's more of an intimate or family vibe. Shout out Marcel for the great service.

I put it in my back pocket as a place I might go in the future. I was recently walking in the area when I noticed a sign saying it was open for coffee. Of course I went to check it out. At the main counter, they serve the classics (mocha, latte, chai, matcha) plus a few specials. My cookie butter matcha (with oat and flavored syrup) was less than 6 dollars. It wasn't my favorite matcha, it was a pretty good deal in comparison to other cafes in the area. They have a coffee club where you pay $40 a month for free drinks (coffee or tea based), 10% of items like cocktails, food and wine. Plus you are able to use their wifi in their space which has a funky plush aesthetic. Definitely good for people who need a place to work. It is an interesting way of using this space in the morning. Of course I was told about their happy hour and the jazz Mondays. I would come back to attend that.

Ruth was just what the doctor ordered. So how would I describe Ruth? It's a cross between a speakeasy and a trendy neighborhood bar... and they serve up some tasty drinks and snacks!!! The interior is cozy with a number of arranged seating areas so parties of folks can gather together. The bar area has stool seating where you can watch the bartender make drinks... and there's even a separate back room area that looks like it could be rented out for private events. As for bartenders and staff, they are all awesome!!! Final thoughts = if you are nearby and ready for a nice drink, hit up Ruth. You'll be happy you did!

Once that ended, we definitely enjoyed dinner more. Biggest highlights of the evening were drinks and service. Every drink we got was well balanced, flavorful and delicious, so kudos to the bartender! Our waiter and busboys were very attentive, friendly, and provided top notch service from start to finish. Dishes came out in timely manner and order, with restaurant service etiquette followed to a T. Food was good overall, fresh and well presented. Portion sizes are decent, everything priced according to location, quality and ambiance. Octopus was tender but didn't have any flavor and was outshined by delicious pesto & burrata in the salad, which was unfortunate as I was looking forward for it to be the start of the dish. Tartar could use more sauce (or salt) to tie all layers together. Bone marrow was delicious, definitely try a side of beef- it melts in the mouth and is a great addition. Duck vareniki was a bit small portion, with good filling/dough ration and the sauce was heavenly. Pizza crust was good but bland toppings made it uneventful. Steak and fish were cooked and seasoned to perfection, side salads were well seasoned and good pairings for protein. Desserts satisfied our sweet tooth after delicious dinner. Definitely will come back.
