i went here last tuesday with my coworkers in true taco tuesday, happy hour fashion. it was close to where we work and the parking was pretty good. this is honestly a deal breaker for me bc i will drive home if i cannot find a spot. the drinks were GREAT and strong. the table got a variety of drinks from coconut to mango & even passionfruit. the food was also really good. i will say the only happy hour meal deal are the chips & guac + fried salami if im not mistaken. for my meal i got the al pastor tacos. they were very flavorful and filling. 9/10 would recommend. you should def pay this place a visit. come hungry & perhaps have dd or take the train lol. read more

Came here with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. We liked the ambiance and the decor in the restaurant. It was very unique. There aren't many restaurants like this one on this side of Brooklyn. We enjoyed the happy hour specials. We each got a drink and the fried cheese, salami and tostones. My husband got the taco entree which meant rice and beans came with the tacos for an additional $3. The waitress asked if he wanted cheese and he said yes then was charged an additional $3 for the cheese. I asked if it was $1 for cheese per taco and the answer was yes. A quick little bite to eat that turned to be a pleasant surprise. I heard a few things about things spot so I got here early to ensure I would have a comfortable time and seat. Service was okay. There were only 2 servers however it took a significant amount of time to get her attention when we needed (order more drinks etc). Order to table timing was pretty good but i had to wait several minutes at a time before my self or table could order additional drinks, food, etc. I love that they have SOOO MANY options to pick. From tacos to drinks I was impressed. I ordered the fish tacos which came out fried. I wasn't mad at that but the fish wasn't all that flavorful. It tasted pretty bland almost like a piece of frozen fish. My friend let me try her shrimp tacos which came and MAN I wish i would have ordered that instead because that shrimp was not only fresh and DELICIOUS. However, they do have a happy hour menu & while the drinks were good I didn't find them to be $11 happy hour good. The happy hour menu is a bit on the pricy side. After a long day being at the car dealership for 8.5hrs, I decided to try FRIDA after discovering the restaurant through the YELP app. Walked into Happy Hour (not properly attired for the evening affair ) my daughter and I sat down for our first meal of the day. We ordered Birria Empanadas, Bolos de Yuca, Birria, Al Pastor & fish tacos. The entrees were the tacos and it comes with a side of black beans & rice. EVERYTHING WAS TASTY & SO GOOOOODDDD! Man, Frida was such a random find and I'm honestly still thinking about it. The tacos had this really fresh kinda pop to them, like you take a bite and you're like oh ok they actually care about seasoning here. The meats were super tender too, not that dry stuff you sometimes get. And the sauces... I don't even know what was in them but I kept dipping everything in it like a fool. The cocktails were so good I had to slow myself down. They've got this nice balance where it's not too sweet but not just straight-up liquor either. Decided to randomly try this restaurant and it was such a great decision! The restaurant was packed. There is indoor and an enclosed outdoor area for seating. I got a seat at the bar. The bar area is small and has seating for about 4-5 people. It was nice to see how all the drinks were created while sitting there. There is a QR code for the menu. There are also hard copies of the menu. It took a while for me to place my order because the bartenders were really busy making drinks. I ordered the coco loco. The presentation was beautiful and the drink was delicious. Hands down the best drink I have had this year. I would come back for this alone. I ordered three tacos. I got the shrimp taco which I really enjoyed. I got the fish taco which was really good. I also ordered the birria taco. It comes with a consommé. The bartender suggested adding cheese to the taco which I did. However, I couldn't really taste the cheese. The rice and beans were good but it would be easier to eat if it came in a bigger container. I also was expecting more rice and beans. The hot sauce was amazing. For dessert I got the churros. I didn't care for the caramel sauce. I really liked the chocolate sauce. This dessert is big enough to share with others. I really enjoyed the churros and would highly recommend it. The restaurant is cute but tight. We made reservations which I am glad we did because it was packed. Towards the end of Brunch the restaurant emptied a bit. It isnt a big restaurant so be prepared to have someine close to you. Service wasnt the best. Our waiter just wasnt as attentive. The food was good though. It is small inside but I can see that they are very popular. A lot people came in to place to go orders. I started off with a passion fruit margarita which was strong but tasty. For my appetizer I had the nachos with chicken. The chicken could've been a little more seasoned. My sister ordered the Tostoncitos with Birria and they were delicious. Amazing experience. Came for a solo date on Valentine's Day and it was definitely worth while. I was sat at the bar since it was just a party of one and I didn't mind it. Marcelo ( one of the owners) was so kind in approach and a very talented bartender. Him and Nemo (another talented bartender) worked so well together and really handcrafted each drink with love as I was there to watch with my own eyes since it's such an intimate space. I ordered the French kiss ( a Valentine's Day special but i requested for it to be on the main menu since it was so delicious ) and the Bougie G! I started with the tres Golpes, yucca balls, And birria empanada. They do everything right. You get a sauce on the side for each dish and I can't complain about the portions. Then I had the birria Chimi sandwich and birria Mofongo. Mixing 2 different worlds into one. I was surprised but it actually works. Plus they have a brunch menu on the weekend. My first visit to Frida was a pleasant experience. From the customer service to the drinks and food. We went on a Thursday during Happy Hour which ends at 7pm which is great for Brooklyn. We had frozen margaritas in mango and passion fruit and they were strong and delicious . I had birria mofongo and it was well seasoned and first consume that wasn't super oily and flavorful.
