Nestled in an area surrounded by amazing Mexican restaurants, Viet Alley offers something a little different while celebrating traditional Vietnamese cuisine with subtle French and American influences. The colorful lanterns hanging throughout the dining area immediately caught our attention and made the space feel cozy and inviting.
We had the honor of being their first large party--a group of 10--so we were able to sample quite a bit of the menu.
The menu is simple but covers all the classics: pho, bún bò Huế, bánh mì, rice platters, noodle bowls, spring rolls, and egg rolls. The combo meals are a great deal, including a spring roll or egg roll, a bowl of pho or a rice platter, and a drink for just $17.
Our favorites were the grilled beef and grilled pork rice platters--they were flavorful, tender, and definitely something we'd order again. The bún bò Huế was also enjoyable with a nice, rich broth. The bánh mì looked amazing, and after seeing everyone else's sandwiches, it's already on my list for our next visit.
One thing we really appreciated was how accommodating the staff was. They happily customized dishes, including preparing a noodle bowl with extra vegetables and fewer noodles, and serving the kids' vegetables on the side without any issues.
Regarding my brisket pho. The broth was good, but I was hoping for a little more brisket, as my bowl only had five little slices. Hopefully that's something they'll fine-tune as they continue to grow.
Like any new restaurant, they're still working through the little details, and that's to be expected. The restaurant already has a warm atmosphere, friendly service, and a solid menu. We also noticed a large projector screen and a stage, so it looks like entertainment may be coming soon.
They're also working on opening a coffee drive-through next month, which will make it even easier to stop by for coffee.
Overall, we had a great experience and are looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu. It's always exciting to support a local family-owned business, and we're excited to watch Viet Alley continue to grow.
I'd definitely recommend giving them a try and showing some support to this new local gem.
