Bakery Lorraine is a smallish property located in the Northside of the Domain. As you enter the door-the line forms to the far right up to a couple Bakery Cases and then the cashier. I had chosen this bakery, as I had heard. It was a French bakery, and also offered lunch options. I had been invited by my daughters who offered to take me out for my birthday. I had also invited my granddaughter and since we live very near each other, she rode into town with me. To be honest, we really didn't get the opportunity to enjoy the offerings. The bakery generally has on hand. Evidently they sell out well before noon. I ordered the chef salad -they serve it with Freshly made Ranch Dressing, but they did have an Orange Dijon Vinaigrette available as well and I chose that. It didn't come with a roll or croissant or anything.. there were some squares of turkey and a hard-boiled egg which was cut in half. I'm sure there was some kind of cheese on it. The salad itself consisted of field greens. No iceberg lettuce no romaine-in all honesty I was pretty disappointed. Even with the dressing it was blasé. My granddaughter had a turkey sandwich on white bread. It was dressed with lettuce and tomato and it looked pretty good. She was also smart enough to order a dessert. They barely had anything left, but she found a fresh little Ttart with fruit on it so she got that. One of my daughters got a hummus plate with chips and veggies as dippers, my other daughter advised me she was on a low-carb diet. She ended up choosing a bowl of tomato soup which they are known for and grilled cheese sandwich which she gave away. I think it was really hard for me to get over the fact that the bakery case was pretty much empty. I guess I should've known better as bakeries are generally very popular in the morning along with coffees which they also specialize in. This just wasn't what I had expected-the food we order was good, but nothing special. There are many other restaurants and bakeries closer to where I live. I do love trying new places, but doubt that I would drive all the way back to the Domain to visit this bakery. read more

Stopped in for an iced coffee and was pleasantly surprised. It was really well made--smooth, refreshing, and exactly what I was hoping for. The cinnamon roll looked absolutely amazing (A1!), although it was for a friend, so I didn't get to try it myself. Service was fast, and everyone behind the counter was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The ladies working there made the experience even better with their positive attitudes. Very cute bakery! The family had several different items and they were enjoyed by all. My daughter had a lemon blueberry muffin that was full of just the right flavor balance. My favorite item though was hands down their chai latte. This is always a big judgement point for me and they didn't disappoint at all with it. The location and atmosphere are an enticement to dine at Bakery Lorraine. The restaurant has floor to ceiling windows with an abundance of greenery inside. It feels a bit like a modern rain forest. There is an abundance of seating both indoors and outdoors. You can meet a colleague like me, enjoy a coffee with a friend or family member. Bakery Lorraine always hits! The thing about pastries is there are so many that don't taste good, they aren't even worth finishing usually. This place is different. There is something real and authentic about their pastries that make them taste more like high quality homemade than store bought. The people working here are always kind and approachable. I want to love this place. It's in a great location and can be pretty. The staff is super friendly too BUT the food is meh. The price is high and you expect more. That's my honest review. It could be so much more. It can taste so much better. I've had way better food elsewhere for brunch with better ingredients for similar price or less. Was in town for a visit and had a few hours to spare for brunch. was walking around the area of where my hotel was at, which is by the domain in Austin, Tx. I came across this bakery cafe and it looked perfect. The place is clean and well Maintained. The staff are friendly and I ordered myself an iced latte and an avocado toast. I was able to find a good spot to dine and be on my computer while I brunch on. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing and I quite enjoyed myself for a bit. Full disclosure, Bakery Lorraine is typically busy. We decided to go early in the morning in order beat the wait, but mostly because we had to walk our dog. When you arrive at Bakery Lorraine you are immediately greeted by ample seating and a relaxed but cozy atmosphere. Ordering was a breeze and the staff were friendly as well, offering a pup cup to our dog. They serve a variety of breakfast foods, pastries, coffee, and so on. We decided to order a grilled cheese with roasted potatoes and a chai latte (they come in mugs if you dine in, if you care about that kind of stuff). They bring it out to you which is nice, especially when you fine outdoors. The chai latte came first and was phenomenal. We like whole milk for the thicker texture and that's exactly what we got. The spice of the chai was perfect and with the cinnamon powder finish there's not enough good we can say about it. The grilled cheese was good, not great. It came on toasted sourdough bread which is the better bread choice, sorry to those who prefer white. It was made with white cheese that was tasty, just not the way we like it as we prefer yellow cheese. It is by no means a bad sandwich and this could very simply be chalked up to a difference in preferences. I would still recommend it as a sandwich and we look forward to trying the other ones that they have in the future. As for the roasted potatoes, we were not fans. The potatoes were very skin heavy giving it an almost filmy taste on some. The seasoning was good and they were cooked well, it's just the texture that was a bit of a throw off. Ultimately, Bakery Lorraine is a great cafe that fits well into the premium retail space the Domain offers. This location is great and a good choice for an iced almond milk latte. Their coffee and espresso quality is pretty good. I really enjoyed the fruit tart and macarons. Great bakery in The Domain with lots of fun and walkable shopping nearby! I got a strawberry matcha (I Love You So Matcha) with almond milk and my husband got a mocha. I think if I'd gotten it iced it would've have strawberry whipped cream; not sure but that was listed on the menu but I didn't taste any strawberry in my drink. For Mother's Day they offered a Croque Madame so I ordered one to try. It was pretty good. Fries with garlic aioli: Please tell me why these were the best and most perfect fries I have ever had. It sounds crazy right, a simple potato cut into pieces. The sandwiches were good, but I will definitely come back just for multiple orders of these fries again. They are fried well and the pairing of their aioli is what helps make them. One thing I don't like is soggy fries so these may the fry mark for me. Vanilla latte and chai latte: Can I throw these in the same category. Okay I was not as a fan of their drinks, but to be fair, I wouldn't necessarily think of coffee when I think of this place. It's the food for me that does it. Macaroons: The early grey and dark chocolate Lavendar were everything. The way they package them for you is also the cutest. Visited on Saturday morning. Lovely bakery in the food street in the Domain. Street parking is reserved for pickup, but a garage is right around the corner. There's a lot of seating both indoors and outdoors, but the place does get pretty busy and most tables are occupied most of the time. All the pastries look so lovely, and the ones we ordered tasted so, too. Thick creamy center for the cheese Danish. The ratio of cream cheese-pastry surprised me; I was expecting maybe half the amount of cream cheese based on my usual experience with cheese Danishes and was very happy to taste how smooth, rich, and creamy the filling was. Pain au chocolat was flakey, and I bought fruit tarts as a gift to a friend. The store can get busy, and there could be a solid long line at times. The staff were friendly and were fast to clean up tables. Pastries get warmed up and served really fast, but I do wish I'd got the drinks (coffees) with the pastries or even before them. It was not that long of a wait, but on that day I already took pictures, took a couple of bites of the food, and then had to stop myself so I could enjoy my coffee-pastry set. Bakery Lorraine is a staple! Back when I lived in North Austin, it was part of my Sunday ritual, but after moving to South Austin (a 45-minute drive), I haven't been able to visit as often as I'd like. Coming back after so long?
