Worst quesadilla I've ever had. Generally, they have good food, but that was burnt. They forgot to put it on a wheat tortilla. They forgot the onions and tomatoes. The paleo bowl we had wasn't even room temperature... and it was a long wait which would make me expect hot food. Quite the opposite. It was just ok, maybe the temperature. I just hate food that's not hot. Needless to say not a laughing planet, more like yacking planet. Plus not kid friendly. The framed cartoons on the wall depicted people literally having sex. Love the art and decor of the place, the staff was great, seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help you. I had a kale salad (marked on the menu as gluten-free) which was delicious, as was the sangria I ordered. I'm mainly writing this review for people with celiac or gluten intolerance. While I loved my kale salad, it did make me sick from cross-contamination. I know this was the source and if I wasn't 100% sure I wouldn't post this review. I thought I was being safe by not ordering a bowl (burrito without tortilla) because I know many places touch the tortilla with the scoops and then it goes back in the beans or rice. I should've realized that crouton dust from their other salads could've contaminated the containers they use for salad ingredients. Or maybe using tongs that have touched croutons in ingredient bins that they use for the gluten-free salads. I'm giving a 3 star review because everything was great except the cross-contamination. But I don't really expect the restaurant to change their methods to prevent this. I'm sure their gluten-free options are great for people who just don't want to eat gluten, or maybe people who are only mildly sensitive. But I just want to give a head's up to people who are sensitive-- I'd avoid it. And I don't single out Laughing Planet necessarily-- I've have decided to not eat at any restaurant because cross-contamination is so common. If you are gluten intolerant and you think you're being gluten-free but are still getting sick-- just a head's up that cross-contamination might be your problem. It certainly was mine at Laughing Planet. Otherwise, I recommend this restaurant to non-gluten sensitive people. The salad really was delicious and the sangria was perfect! read more

I was hugely disappointed tonight. I used to love this place, it was cool, and hip. It had a friendly staff, great veggie selections, and most importantly the food USED to be good. NO LONGER! They must have sold out went corporate or something. NOW....First they were totally slow, so no excuses: THe service was just OK, the floors were filthy, the table was also dirty. The menu was overhauled, and lacking. The food was horrible...definitely not the chili bowl I used to love to eat. Peppers in it the size of my spoon, gargantuan chunks of semi-cooked zucchini, and carrots, blown out over cooked beans, and thats it ...aweful, oh and I forgot the stale "chips " they added instead of the foccacia bread they used to serve Bathrooms were (A) out of order, or (B) covered in trash and filth. Ingredients are fresh and sources responsibly. The meals they put together are amazing and there is something to suit anyone. It's got the reputation of being a vegan/vegetarian restaurant but they do serve quality meats as well, so really anyone could be happy with their food. You walk away feeling good because the meals are well rounded while their sauces have delicious pizazz. The smoothies and juices are also strong and tasty and I would recommend the Marionberry Ginger Smoothie or the flu shot juice, both of which are so yummy and so good for the body! read more

we came here last week for dinner, after wanting to try it for a lot of time got two different bowls and a beer the food was good, the portions were right not too big, not too small, but nothing special either...mine had green beans, broccoli, tofu and some rice, my lady's was a little better with the tempeh, quinoa and avocado also, the space is fairly big, and I like the kind of pictures they hung up (we were sitting under the cycling one) but I feel that the place still looks quite empty and that whoever put it together does not seem too convinced of what they were doing we might be willing to give it a second chance some other time read more

Wow this place really surprised me! Found it on yelp for my veggie/gluten free family members on a road trip. They were excited about the menu, I was not. I ordered a double chocolate cookie and a smoothie, no food. I regretted that choice when I tried everyone's food later, lots of flavor, fresh, spicy, delightful. Can't wait to go back. Thai bowl is great, even the basic burrito had a lot of flavor. Smoothies were good, not overly sweet like Jamba Juice. And the choc cookie was ahhhmazing. I used to love this place. Haven't been there in a while so I ordered a Spanky's bowl. I remember it being delicious lots of corn hot mashed potatoes and broccoli I loved it. I have been to this location a few times while visiting Eugene. Each time, the employees were aloof and wouldn't communicate as to why the food always takes sO LONG. I have ordered smoothies, bowls and burritos- awesome smoothies and their beans are pretty good. But jesus christ, I got one of their seasonal veggie bowls and I swear to God it was 80% broccoli STEMS. Gut punch. Hilariously bad service, I watched other customers look just as confused as we were and employees acted as if nothing weird was happening. I have served in several restaurants and if any customer was standing around with such confused looks on, I'd approach them and ask what they are waiting for/needed, even if they weren't my table. PRO: - decent food for Eugene - good options - nice atmosphere CON: - no take-out line...I can't order during the dinner hour, because I have 3 small kids and don't have time to wait 20 minutes (yes, 20 minutes average). - restaurant smells! - smallish portions - $5 minimum on credit card purchases--don't forget to order your drink, they are unforgiving about this. - s-l-o-w service during dinner/lunch hours - manager is rude to customers, and especially staff (I have a few stories about him) Yes, for us, these cons really do outweigh the pros. read more

Would have given 5 stars... IF: My family and I LOVE Laughing Planet! LOVE it. Best burritos around. I am a vegan and my daughter and husband are not. This place gives everyone an option and you've gotta love options. I am bummed at my order today because it was a to go order and we live over a half hour from town. So I phoned it in after a movie and went and picked it up. My husband and I both had the bean and cheese burrito with guacamole, but I held the cheese on mine. My daughter had a bean and guac burrito. We got home after having skipped lunch and were happy to have our burritos in hand. Until I went to eat mine. The guacamole was literally making minor appearances at the top of the burrito, and when I say minor, its because its like they ran out of guacamole when it came to my burrito. My husband and daughter both had ample amounts and were satisfied. The reason that I am bummed is that I would have much rather ordered something with more flavor had I known they were going to pie out on my order. (Like the Che burrito..) The bean burrito with just rice and the small amount of pico they put on there is mediocre at best but once you add the guac its amazing. So lesson learned on my part... Eat in. Everything else about LP is great. Their staff is always friendly and nice (with a few exceptions) and their location is easy to get in and out of. I have recommended this place and brought several people here and they are all now converts! I will continue my love affair with LP but from now on I won't be taking my orders on the road home. read more

Ever since Go Healthy Café closed I've been looking for a new place to go for lunch. I tried them on the recommendation of a friend and it was excellent! The mix of colors in the presentation and bright lively flavors made this an instant favorite for me. There's not a lot of parking but when I went a number of the other guests had come on bikes. The prices are very reasonable and the portion size was filling. I didn't get to try it but on the table was an advertisement for the fresh juices they can make. It makes me look forward to summer. read more

Driving from Washington toward LA, I stayed overnight in Eugene Oregon and the next day on my way out I found this cafe that serves a lot of Vegan choices! I ordered a seasonal Vindaloo with Tempah dish and I forgot that I hate cucumber yogurt! When I got the dish I tried to eat it but I couldn't stomach it. I decided to order the Che burrito to go and just write off my bad order as another learning experience in my life. LISA took my order and I told her that I didn't like it but that it was my fault, and as she took my order she noticed how I was eyeing the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and without hesitation she placed it on my new order without a charge, but wait it gets better, she didn't even charge me for my Che burrito! No, seriously. I made a bad first order and because I didn't like it she didn't want me leaving with a bad impression of the cafe. What a great employee and great service! Visited the Laughing Planet on my recent trip to Eugene. Placed a to-go order for myself and my friends. Shortly thereafter, a flood of people came in to order dinner as well and the line was out the door. After about 15-20 minutes I saw an order that appeared to look like mine be placed on the counter. However, it was packaged for someone else. I really hadn't paid too close attention to who had been there before me as my friend and I were chatting away while waiting for my order and I figured my food would be up soon. Another 5-10 minutes go by and I noticed several people who arrived after me where getting their food. I went up to the counter and asked about my order. There was a bagged order on another counter which appeared could have been mine. Apparently someone who had called in and order was given my food, and their order was the one still waiting on the counter. The staff quickly made the food that I ordered and apologized for the confusion. They even threw in a few of their super huge cookies for the trouble. Really enjoyed their food and wished that I found them on my first day in Eugene instead of my last. I would have eaten here everyday. Ordered the Highway to Kale Salad and the Thai bowl. Kale salad was super light and tasty. Loved all the veggies in the Thai bowl. read more

A veg-friendly restaurant replete with green juices, burritos that characterize Mexican revolutionaries, and double-chocolate vegan cookies. The cookies are fantastic but what's particularly poor about this place is that, in spite of all the good veggie food, it still has the gall to serve lamb and other meat terrors, which makes its marketing facade of 'green' and 'healthy' seem insincere and disingenuous. Mgmt needs to decide what they want their restaurant to stand for and then they need to pick a lane and follow it. There's no such thing as a vegan-friendly restaurant that serves lamb. read more
