I think I expected more from the high reviews. I tried the Korean BBQ bowl and chicken burrito. We finished the food, but it was just okay. The food was just a notch above bland. I also tried the Peach Berry Chia smoothie - which I appreciated that they only use fruit and unsweetened juice, but it was sour and hard to drink. It would do in a pinch, but for a burrito, Chipotle is tastes more gourmet than this. read more

What a great place to bring the kids AND have a healthy dinner with yummy local microbrews. The kids love playing with the dinosaurs. It's noisy enough that kid noise isn't a distraction. I have tried many of the burritos, bowls, salads, and quesedillas. I like the Che Guavera burrito and the grilled chicken is a stand-by. I always feel good after eating here. At some burrito joints, I feel like I've eaten a brick that sticks with me for an uncomfortable amount of time. Not at LP. The staff is very helpful and they have quite an efficient operation. I'm also amazed that my family can eat here and have a couple of beers for around $22. Since the food is fresh and healthy, it can be a little bland at times. It's still hearty and fulfilling. Wow, food you can feel great about eating! I had the veggie burrito which was full of flavor, it had just about every vegetable I could think of. The mild salsa was a tad bland, maybe next time i'll try the spicy one. I am going to order something different next visit because everyones food looked so delicious! A menu I can venture out in, I like that. My only down side with this place would be the atmosphere, it was all open seating and super crowded! Saturday lunch at LP was great. I ordered a veggie burrito with the hot sauce and a berry smoothie. Service was friendly and efficient. The veggie burrito had a liberal amount of tasty melted cheese and lots of chunks of fresh vegetable- favourite bit was the cauliflower. It was medium sized and filling. i've never written a review before in my entire life but i've feeling compelled to write one all day. i am not the kind of person to ever complain either but i've never been so disappointed before and shocked how they allowed my food to be served the way it was. i get laughing plant every so often and i'm always completely satisfied i usually loveeee their food. but today i ordered the mushroom tacos, i added vegan chz. it had maybe about 5-6 tiny pieces on it(1st red flag). then went to take a bite, it was on a tostada like hard shell and it was so stale i legitimately couldn't even rip a bite off. (2nd red flag) i literally tried to eat it and i no lie could not. ( i'd eat stale chips any day but this was actually concerning) also ordered the kale salad and it comes with chick peas which i normally love but at fist glance in noticed 5 chick peas... just 5!! (3rd red flag) my first bite i could tell the kale wasn't washed it tasted dirty and i love this salad normally (4th red flag) and in the same bite the chick pea was so stale and hard it took one of my fillings off of my tooth. read more

I like Laughing Planet, I really do. This location has the friendliest employees and I always find myself laughing and conversing with the people at the counter. I have come to find out this location serves margaritas now! I will definitely be giving those a try soon. I really appreciate their food options for those with dietary restrictions and those who are just looking for a healthy meal when they want or have to eat out. Let's face it, life can get crazy and sometimes we don't have time to cook or make our lunches but we don't want to eat fast food or pre packaged grocery store food. In those cases I recommend Laughing Planet. They have monthly and seasonal specials that are usually delicious and you can make alterations to your meal if you'd like. This location has a cute little outdoor area to eat at or you can enjoy their air conditioned dining room. Food come out super fast, even when they are busy and you can call ahead to order to go if you're in a hurry. I really like their veggie bowls but I always feel like there's a little something missing. Sometimes it's seasoning and sometimes I feel like certain things seem a little boring. I do appreciate fresh, simple ingredients but I don't know what it is. Also, the prices get a little steep here. You can easily spend $13-$15 a person if you opt for chips and a drink or if you add things to your meal. I wish I could eat here more often and would if it was a little cheaper. Passing through and always love healthy food options. Had to try this spot and frankly my lady and I ordered I think 4 items and two juices. Of the 4 items we selected, the Tempeh Roll really was impressive but that's not to say the Vegan Tofu Bowl wasn't too... and the Crunchero, ditto. The Tempeh Roll is basically one big burrito and it was SUPERB. We got the mushroom tacos which were good as well but the 3 other items really were stand out/impressive 100%. We both agreed that we were happy we didn't live in Eugene otherwise we'd have to somehow become partners with Laughing Planet in order to be able to afford our new found addiction, their food! Alas, the juices were good as well. Saw that they have locations in many cities including Reno NV. Thought that was very neat and we're wishing this foodie spot would be a huge chain, bigger than McD's and the Taco Bell's of the world. The planet and people need it. This is a spot where I can love the food and where I can hate the food, but where I will keep coming back. The restaurant itself is great, plenty of character and interest with nice outdoor seating areas (perfect for the dog owner/sun lover). The staff is great, very nice and helpful with making recommendations. My advice here is to search the menu for a dish you can dig, because there seem to be some items that are spot-on each and every time and others that just don't do much for me. I typically order the special burrito, which is usually ethnically inspired and featuring seasonal ingredients, and I am always happy with it. Another favorite is the Che Guevara bowl/burrito and the Soylent Green bowl, they always hit the spot. The food menu is buffered by a great juice/smoothie menu, always scrumptious and refreshing. Favorites include the PB & J smoothie and the ginger, apple, carrot juice. The word around town is that Laughing Planet is opening a new location at PRI's old venue, 13th and Lawrence - i'm very much looking forward to this, hopefully some new burrito/bowls will come about as i'm always wanting to try a new veggie combination. When I lived downtown I used to frequent this place because it was in my back yard. This is the place for vegetarian foods- but they have meat too. The burritos are so good, but my favorite is the mashed potato bowl with broccoli and melted cheese. I can't recall the name of it, but it is the ultimate comfort-style food! They have fun little dinosaurs, different options for drinks than sprite or cola and it's always friendly and tidy. The salads are great too. Parents can definitely bring your kids here. read more

Sometimes I'm too tired to cook, and Laughing Planet has always been there. I visit this restaurant at least once a week. Seasonal specials keep the menu fresh, and there is always something for any mood that I'm in. The Che Guevarra burrito is awesome, and the Paleo Plate is my boyfriend's favorite. Laughing Planet also have tons of local brews for reasonable prices. So, you can make this a great place to take a date before a concert at the Wow Hall or Sam Bond's (practically across the street). It has a rainbow of colors, with diverse veggies, and a cruncy topping of roasted pepitas, which are just lovely! I order this with one of their fresh juiced vegetables juices. For dessert, I sometimes get a side of the plantains which are naturally sweet and totally delightful! Excellent home grown food. Good people. Everytime we come to Eugene we eat here. I didn't give it 5 stars because it is noisy. You can hear the kitchen while eating and if there are wild kids running around it can become a nightmare. But the food is great, the help is wonderfull. Pick out your food and they bring it to you! i love supporting this place. one, the food is awesome and a wonderful place for vegans. any frustrations i have of high prices are generally quickly quieted by the politics of this place. From what I can tell employees are taken care of through wage and benefits and I like giving my business to such a company. my favorite vegan treats are the Soylent Green with tahini sauce and the southwestern green chili burrito (not default vegan so get without the cheese). They do have vegan cheese and sour cream. the pbj smoothie might be the greatest thing ever. And the cookies. I'm in love with the snickerdoodles. I think all their cookies are vegan, but it will be no prob to check as things are labeled wonderfully. yay! I'm now infatuated with the hemp seed hazel nut cookies. wow. read more

This is not a two-star restaurant. I've been a regular at this location since before I moved to Eugene, and during the year and a half that I've lived in Eugene. I love Laughing Planet. So why the two stars? There's been a change of management. This is code in the business for "this joint will start to suck more", which is exactly what has happened. When I first started eating at Laughing Planet, I was struck by the funky, goofy, relaxed vibe of the place. The people working there were cheerful, helpful and content - that last word is the key here: they were happy with their jobs. Over time I got to know many of them, and they were all fine human beings who I looked forward to seeing whenever I went in there. Also, and nontrivially, they were experienced workers who did their jobs efficiently while still keeping up the banter. Over the course of the last two months or so, almost the entire counter staff has changed at this location. There have been rumors, firings, and a wave of resignations. The folks who have popped up to replace them are obviously undertrained (not their fault), and things are pretty haywire. Service takes about twice as long on average, and I've had plenty of occasions where I need to follow up on an order to make sure I get it. This isn't a crazy busy place and the food isn't complicated - it's just more poorly staffed now. Obviously, something pretty lame has happened upstairs. Shame on the Laughing Planet management for pulling such an awful move. You've really hurt this location. With Falling Sky moving in next door, you better hope they don't try too hard to compete with your business, or I fear you'll be toast. What a sad story. read more

Dear Foodies, Generally speaking, Laughing Planet has made an effort to have a diverse staff and menu. I have never, in 8 months of visiting and ordering food, been greeted with any mood other than negative. I KNOW how "sucky" the service industry is and it's a shame it's labeled as service. But that is what a restaurateur and their staff does, serve people. Slave to the once mighty dollar. The restaurant is generally dirty and the food is bland. They save money by stacking the "burrito" with ton of rice and beans and putting a very light sprinkling of toppings. They DO know how to wrap an exceptionally large burrito. I am not fooled, I know this is NOT Mexican food and there are many non "VEGETARIAN" options. So why are they listed as Mexican/Vegetarian? That Mexican food you should be supporting is authentically next door, folks. ON either side of their lame store front. The employees have never seemed anything that made me think they were happy to have jobs or be working with people. Every time I have been in there, there have been grain moths flying around and unclean tables, bathrooms and counters. YAY there are toys, made by tortured children in far away lands to distract us from the not so amazing food. I have to say, I know how much it costs to make burritos in a restaurant and these folks are making a killing. Eugene and the passive aggressive "where art thou peace" syndicate has faked everyone out again. Don't call me whitey, burrito! Oh they ignored my request for a whole wheat tortilla. I have to say, out of the 8 months of testing different restaurants in Eugene, Laughing Planet is an over privileged faux food station of compliance to capitalism and reflective lack of competition.
