I have been taking computers to Last Stop Computers for at least 12 years, maybe 15. They have set up computers for me that I bought at Costco, and refurbished and re-energized several laptops and even a desktop over the years. I was always happy. A couple of days ago I was having trouble downloading videos and figured since it had been 3 years since they helped me with my laptop that was giving me problems, that the computer was running too slow. Andrew said he would look at it. He called me today and said the computer was fine. He also asked me to come in and he would help me with my problem with the website downloading the videos, it turned out to be a problem from servers, not my computer. So he helped me with a download issue as well as looking at the computer and did not charge me at all. What an honest owner and company. Came to Last Shop at suggestion of another store due to difficulties with my laptop. I came in twice in the same day in hopes to wait out the issue and worked with Bishop. I appreciated the clarity in some things and he was actually interested in taking a look at it and trying different ways to resolve. Pretty low key place with cute pet dogs hanging around:) They're closed Sundays and asked me to come back Monday to resolve it. I went in here in June because my laptop had been taken over remotely while I was out of town. The man managed the situation quickly and didn't charge too much. He was very informative and didn't make me feel like I had done something wrong. (And, there were things I did wrong.) I'll go back to this shop with any other problems. I have been to several repair shops for my iPhone and for another laptop; because I needed my work laptop repaired as soon as possible, I decided to bring in my laptop to a shop that was available ASAP. When I brought the laptop into the repair shop, it was fully working, the only issue was a fan noise; I have videos taken right before the laptop was brought in as I had sent to my preferred providers which stated they thought it was the fan. When I brought it to the shop, this provider did a full diagnostic and informed me that the fan was the issue and that this would only be a certain price and would be done within one to two days. About two weeks went by without any communication from the provider, and I started to get concerned so I called them back after two weeks and the provider informed me only then that my laptop was no longer working. They failed to reach out to me and when I did reach out they provided me with a long explanation about all the checks that they do and how the laptop was always in the best care and how it wasn't their fault; at the same time, they also stated that they work on over 50 laptops a week so how could they pay as close attention to my laptop as they claim. I am certain that it was their fault that my laptop stopped working. I told them that I would not pay for their mistake or for additional repairs and I would need to pick up my computer at no cost. They proceeded to stated that they would be removing "THEIR" fan, in a that tone, to which I said that was fine. This provider has failed on several fronts: Their diagnostic: if it wasn't correct, how could you trust what they say? Their communication: why wasn't I informed immediately after they figured out the issue? Why did I have to reach out? Their defensive demeaner and not taking blame: how could you assert that you had your attention fully on my laptop to ensure that they had not done anything incorrect but also say you work on over 50 laptops a week? Ultimately, this provider has caused me to lose significant time from doing my school work, many school files that I had from the past 4 years, this was my main work laptop that I used everyday for zoom meetings with my students, and lost many memories due to the photos that I no longer have. If there was a negative rating, this provider deserves it. read more

I can't say enough good things about this neighborhood computer repair shop. My HP notebook computer got stuck in a bad loop and Windows would not load. ! I tried all the easy things I knew like undoing the latest update or restoring it to a prior time but nothing worked for me. To be honest my computer had been slow and glitchy for quite some time but now it stopped working completely. When I went inside the shop I was greeted and helped by Daerik. When I told him my troubles with the loop I was stuck in and that this computer may have been a lemon since it had always been slow, he listened. Then he told me he had worked on many of the same model HP and he had a hunch what the problem was so he explained everything and gave me two options. I went with the solution -#2 but it was good to know there were options. I got my computer back even faster than the 2 days they quoted because the parts for my repair were in stock. Careful, quick and affordable computer repair. Brought in my old 2012 MacBook Pro for a new keyboard and they got it done superfast and also fixed the touch pad they noticed someone else had installed incorrectly. Really good service. These guys are great, the work extremely hard to fix your problems and wont try to sell you stuff you don't need. Actually they have kept me from spending money on things I thought were necessary. They built my first computer when I moved to the area over 10 years ago and it is still working great. Of course I have had it upgraded, but runs like a clock. Took the computer there to get a new power cord. Brought the computer in to make sure that it would fit. $44 later they pulled out a small piece of the old power cord that was stuck in the side. For another $40 more (total $84), I have a new charging cord that I could've ordered at Amazon for 12 bucks. I don't mind them charging labor, but $44 to spend about two minutes figuring out that a little piece was broken off inside the plug? Seems excessive. read more

I had previously taken my son here for a repair of his Gameboy, they were unable to fix the issue but gave great advice and were very friendly. I had a fight with my new laptop last week, broke the track pad, and brought it in. I was very pleased with the service received. They took apart the computer to attempt a fix, they were unable to totally repair but adjusted the track pad so now I can plug in a mouse for use. They explained that because my computer is a newer model, parts may be difficult to find. There was no charge for the work done so far, was explained charge would occur at time of complete repair. Amazing customer service!! The gentleman that I spoke with was incredibly knowledgeable. He informed me of why my laptop was not functioning well and then took almost 20 minutes to explain what I needed to do to fix it. He installed a part for a very good rate and right in front of me. I am just ever so impressed that he would take all that time to explain to me basically how my computer works and then how to fix the immediate problems, all for free! I have taken my computers into Last Stop and had nothing but great service and good results. Both of the service techs I have worked with have been helpful and sensitive to my somewhat novice standing in the tech world. They have saved data and installed a new hard drive when my computer finally could not do the job any longer. I have also taken my friend's laptop in after they mistakenly deleted important driver and settings and they put that back in order and fixed the system and added memory for a very reasonable price. (Actually it was nearly $150 less than she had been quoted by a larger corporate Office Supply tech repair department.) And one tech spotted a potential wattage problem in the charging transformer and pointed out that it might be hard on the battery to work with it plugged in as it delivered too much wattage for that battery. They looked for one but didn't have one around, but advised on what to do to avoid problems. When I thought my repaired system was finally crashing 18 months later, they advised me NOT to buy a new system yet and instead change my ISP to one with more bandwidth to make sure that was not the issue. That done, I still ran into the problems created by an slow processor and other tired components. When recently purchasing a new system with Win 8.1, I took the system in for data transfer as I was stymied about how to accomplish that whole process. After patiently listening to my concerns about the switch from Vista, I returned to find my data transferred, and my computer set to run in a more familiar desktop mode. I was also reassured that my choice of configuration in the new computer was a good choice for what I needed for my business. I'm happy to say that there is a clean-up in progress on the old one to see if it can be babied into a little longer life. as many of my programs will not run in Win 8.1 and keeping the old system is imperative until those are updated. They even searched one time for a cable for a back-up drive to see if I could still use the one I had purchased so long ago the cords had gone missing! I have watched many customers come and go in the few years I've been trusting Last Stop with my computer care issues. I can tell many are repeat customers and feel comfortable just bringing in their laptops or systems and having them checked and cleaned. I have also had many questions answered on the phone and been walked through setting and minor repair tasks free of charge several times. They are always courteous and happy to help. I have never had to wait for longer than a couple days for my system repairs and new setups. As a small business owner, being without my computer has a pretty negative effect on my business. I took my laptop there for get virus cleaned out. They could have done it the easy way by reloading window 10 to it. However, because I wanted to keep certain utilities and programs not supported by Window 10, they had to do it the old fashion way 2 time prior. Unfortunately the darn virus affecting my laptop was so bad I had to give up on the idea, so they had to finally reload Window 10 to give my machine a new life. What can I say?! This computer business is the best I've ever had the good fortune of first finding online, and then making the right decision to choose them, based on their excellent reviews. Brian is the Owner, and Andrew is his son, and both of them are very knowledgeable and definitely know their stuff when it comes to anything having to do with computers. (I haven't personally worked with the rest of their staff, but I know that everyone who works there is definitely qualified, and does quality work). We've had computer-related issues done by the 'Geek Squad' and other similar outfits in the past, and there is no comparison. These guys are HONEST & TRUST WORTHY, and don't sell you something you don't need or want. They fix it right the 1st time, & patiently & thoroughly explain everything to you. Their prices are fair and reasonable, and they are very easy to reach and find in the North end of Tacoma on 6th Ave. I had mistakenly clicked on an online computer repair business who claimed to be HP affiliated, and turned out to be scammers. We took in all our computers and had Last Stop make sure there were no downloaded viruses, etc, and we now have peace-of-mind. Also, we recently had them build us a brand new, state-of-the-art desktop PC system, and it is light years' ahead of our previous HP desktop system we got at Costco. We also arranged for Andrew to come to our home and streamline/fix our wifi network connectivity issues we were having in our over 100-year-old home (our wifi was slow and unreliable and inconsistent). Andrew quickly and efficiently assessed what was causing our wifi issues, and we've had no further wifi issues or problems since then. (prior to Andrew's visit, Andrew diagnosed alot of our problems over the phone, and advised us what equipment to buy, so he could easily & quickly install it when he arrived, which we both greatly appreciated). I have been taking my computers to Last Stop since 1994 and they are awesome. They have build some for me and have worked on ones purchased from other locations. I appreciate their recommendations and always talk to them before buying a new machine. At times they have referred me to other business to purchase at times if they could not compete with the pricing of large corporations. They back up their work and explain their recommendations. Word to the Wise, before you trust any repair people to handle your computer or laptop for service, make a list of the machine's components and record the version and date of your OS system disc: My last experience with Last Stop Computer employees was the LAST time I allowed them near my PCs. If I could give them a minus star rating I would. First, I had brought the system that I built with ALL NEW parts from Fry's Electronics along with a brand new full version of Windows XP to Last Stop for a once over to make sure that I hadn't missed a step. It is customary to bring the OS disc with a machine when dropping it off for an estimate or service. When I got the system back I was assured by Last Stop employees that it ran like a champ and what I thought was the original XP OS disc was returned to me with the tower. I set the new XP system aside to keep as a backup machine, as I had been given a gift of a new bundled Acer system with Vista OS at that time which ran fine for a few years, until Last stop touched it: I brought it to them for an air compression clean out as I don't own an air compressor : "A" of Last Stop told me not to write down what was needed as he would remember - just blow out any dust inside the case and nothing more. Almost two weeks later, "A" called me to pick it up and had the gall to charge me $100 for 'service' - he said that because I hadn't provided a written note of what needed attention, that he changed some of the software to include REMOVING my paid copy of McAfee Anti virus and installing Microsoft Security Essentials - I was shocked but paid him and took my system home. Upon reconnecting it and powering up, I discovered that it now had a virus. I wrote down the code - it was a Trojan virus. I then called "A" who said that he would be happy to remove it for $100. Instead, I rebooted the system into safemode with networking and navigated Malwarebytes for a fix. I discovered that the Microsoft Security Essentials download that "A" had executed was in fact from a rogue site that was embedded with the Trojan virus. After successfully removing the virus I bought a copy of Norton 360 and the machine limped along for another couple of years. When the hard drive finally choked on the Vista bundled system recently, I swapped the Acer tower for the XP machine until I find time to replace the Vista system Hard Drive. On powering up the XP system, the power supply components had failed (emits high-pitched screeching noise) requiring a new PS. When I installed the new power supply, I noticed that the motherboard was different from how I remembered it. I checked the system information and the identified motherboard is NOT THE SAME MODEL as the one I installed. So, I followed up by checking the BIOS and it confirmed that the board sitting in my tower is a MICRO-ATX and NOT the ATX Form Factor that I had installed. Same manufacturer, different model, different bios. I have all of the original documentation for the motherboard I installed, including the driver disc and box from Fry's. I would like Last Stop to explain how a motherboard that sat inside a tower case for four and a half years and had not been touched by anyone other than myself and their employees magically changes form factors. Also, because of this discovery, I checked the XP disc - it's an upgrade disc dated 2004 and NOT the original 2002 full version that I had provided on my first encounter with their business. I now have to buy another copy of XP, open the system and examine all of components then find all of the drivers for download. I will have to F-disk the drive and start over to correct all of the damage done by Last Stop. Before any Last Stop Computers employees or owners decide to write a pithy response claiming that it is their policy to perform changes without consulting the customer, I have two words for them "CLASS ACTION." A business has no one to blame but themselves for the reputation they create: Lying to customers and stealing their system components and software to perform repairs on other machines may be "policy," but regardless of the label, THEFT and FRAUD is illegal for which a business can and should be prosecuted! UPDATE - 09/10/2013 In Response to Brian H. of Last Stop - His claim that everything I have stated is false is pathetic and a character 'tell:' Brian H. was NOT there at the time when I dropped the Acer System off for an air compressor case clean out - "A." was very busy and the place was crowded. Brian WAS NOT THERE. His statements are lies. That he is disputing a situation he did not witness nor take part in, speaks volumes about him and yet another reason NOT to bring Last Stop any more business: Blaming the customer when their employees have made mistakes or caused problems is classic abusive behavior and dismal customer service. read more
