A little more digging and I found a place near me that sells and repairs these select, premium brands exclusively. When I visited Quality Sewing and Vacuum at the local chain's Puyallup location, I was immediately impressed with the wide selection of top-end models available for sale at the store--no need to order and wait for the model I wanted. I purchased a Brother Luminaire XP1 from a Quality Sewing event 3 years ago. When you purchase these machines, they are new, just used in the class or a class. They come with all accessories they're supposed to come with and have the service warranty of a new machine. BEWARE! I never thought I needed to check, but they may not come with all the accessories they are supposed to. Now I need one of the feet I'm supposed to have and it's not there. And that's not the only included accessory I'm missing. UPDATE: I received a call from the manager of the store today. I took a class here led by sue she was soo friendly she taught me so much and she was extremely patient. I look forward to taking more of her classes. A few days later I came in with my machine Leressa spent a good amount of time helping me check it and troubleshoot my problem. Leressa had so much experience and knew so many details of multiple machines. She took her time and let me try a few different machines and this sold me. I came in with my sewing machine that had been giving me problems- I could not sew in a straight line and had done everything to trouble shoot it myself. I was greeted at the front and helped right away by a gal who suggested that the bobbin I should be using is plastic, not metal- after trying that I was set to go! I brought my Dyson stick vacuum in for repair. It was pulsing and not effectively vacuuming. Mike told me it's most likely a clogged filter and showed me how to clean it. They had a coupon on the flyer for 40 % off feet and other items. As long as the purchase was under a $100.00. I live in Auburn made a trip to Puyallup just for a foot on my sewing machine. When I got their I got the foot I needed plus some additional items totaling $160.00. They would not honor the coupon because it was $4.99 over the $100.00. I then asked if all feet were over $100.00? They said yes. But the coupon clearly included the feet. With the $160.00 plus foot that would be a sale total of $264.99. Honoring the coupon would have made the sale a bit over $200.00, but they would not honor the coupon so I left it all on the counter. I was just on the internet shopping for a specific rotary cuter the best prices were Puyallup Quality Sew and Vac and Embroidery.com. I purchased it from Embroidery.com. I may have a service agreement with this company but they will not get more than that. read more

We are 5 year customers and purchased two vacuums. Well over $1200 worth and we are sick to our stomachs with how much we've given this company. We were talked into how much better their vacuums are compared to a box store or warehouse. Our story is pretty simple.. One vacuum broke and wasn't "covered under warranty", even though the vacuum had been in for the exact same problem previously and WAS covered. The next vacuum has been in the shop 3 times and it's less than a year old. Even my trusty Dyson lasted 3x as long as these "high-end" models. Save your money, time, headache and buy your vacuum from a reputable warehouse store. That way if your high-end vacuum breaks, you can return it no questions asked. read more

We figured we'd have to drop them off to get repairs--and we were braced for a big charge. Instead, Anna-Beth helped us right away and fixed both problems within 10 minutes--at no charge. October 2018, my wife and I came into this store, I was looking​ for​ a sewing machine, but we weren't greeted​ as we entered the store. We saw the employees at the counter, some walked around and not one soul greeted us or smiled. I walked all the way back and circled the machine that I was interested in, but one look at us. We were not sure if we were too young or not the sewing type. Mmm...We even walked up close​ to one of the employees, and still nothing. We were in for three to five minutes. You should respect your customers no matter what background they are from. I will come in again to see if this store will improve their professionalism​. I called this shop to find out how much their service fees are for warranty work on my brother machine, I'm new in this area, this place, the woman rudely asked me "why do you think this is under warranty? !" I stated it was inside of the machine and therefore it was covered under warranty, she then told me is was $179.99 an hour !! I told her I was going to call my old shop on nw 56th in Ballard, when I called my old shop(800 #) it was no money out of pocket, same company, same machine, same issue! The old place told me it's $50 for bench fee, the $179.99 is for a whole cleaning etc.... And since the issue is inside, it's a factory issue, so no out of pocket fee. ! The customer service at the Bellingham and Mt. Vernon stores is exceptional. The variety of services/classes after purchase is great. You just keep us coming back to learn more. My wife and I went to this store because she needed a walking foot for her sewing machine. They had the one we needed and on the shelf it was priced at $73.49. When she looked on the back of the package it was priced at $97.99. My wife brought it to the sales woman's attention and all she said was, "yeah, it's $97.99." My wife decided she would just order it online since she knew it would only be around $60. After leaving the store I looked on the Quality Sewing & vacuum website and they indeed show it for $73.99. Good as it gets at this store!!, LOVE LOVE my new Riccar vacuum, great job on my carpets and hardwood floor, a vacuum that handles both very well! They are the best and really care about their customers. My 3rd vacuum from them in over 30 years, the vacuums still work. my floors and aged have changed. :) My adult kids are enjoying those hand me downs. They put the vacuum together, rid the card board. Horrible customer service at the Puyallup location. Took my Dyson in and was told that it'd be $150 to fix it with parts (clutch assembly) I said ok, then she said well I don't think he can get the clutch assembly part and that the store didn't fix Dysons. I pointed out that their website said they did and she said well not the DC14 and showed me the door. Very rude, I believe her name was Gertrude. I googled when I got home and it's not hard at all to get the part. I would avoid the Puyallup location like the plague. read more

I purchased a Sew Steady for my 6600 Janome. It took a while to get it. When it did come it did not have the legs with it so I had to wait another week or so for them. Then when the legs were on the table did not fit the machine. The sides were 1/4 inch above the machine. I took it back to have it fixed or replaced. After a week the Sew Steady I received back had the same problem 1/4 inch off. Not very good customer service. Will return it for money back but not likely to go again. read more

I brought in my good working vacuum to just have the cord replaced as my little dog chewed through the electric cord. I used to be able to do that kind of repair myself but now I am quite disabled and do not have good use of my hands anymore. This shop wanted to charge me about $112.00 to just replace a simple electric cord. I know it is not a difficult job as I used to wire airplanes and other much more difficult jobs before I became disabled. Do you really need to charge so much? The employee also asked me at least three times if it needed to be serviced too. I told her the first time that it worked just fine and she still had to ask me at least two more times! I told her that the repair price was ridiculous for the amount of time that it would take. She did not really seem to care one way or the other and did not even bother to open the door for me as I struggled with my vacuum and my cane to get out. Won't be going here ever again! I was going to bring my sewing machine in but not now! Do not bother with this shop. read more

I bought a PFAFF Creative 1.5 sewing embroidery machine about 2 months ago. The software provided has an issues that I cannot convert VIP to VP3. I took the machine in and the lady who I will not name spent time with me and with my laptop could not figure out why this was happening. I was to get a call back after she checks in with her contacts, 2 weeks later no call, I had to call and she could not remember me. I have called PFAFF 3 times and was told to my local sewing machine store... "was no help!" So her I sit with an embroidery machine that I can only use the designs provided and if I can find any designs that are already VPS, there are very few designs that I can purchase as of right now......very disappointed! the sewing potion I am very pleased with. read more

Excellent service from this business. In a world where we get nostalgic for the good old days of solid, decent, personal customer service that is rarely found anymore (even Nordstrom has fallen off their pedestal a little), my hope is renewed. My experience with Quality Sewing and Vacuum in Puyallup was so good that I had to write a rave about this business. I brought my Miele vacuum in to them in pieces, disassembled, and in a box because another business had completely ruined it, and couldn't put it back together. I thought it was a lost cause, and never thought I'd be able to use it again. From the moment I walked in and met Larry, who would be working on it, I felt completely reassured I was in excellent hands. He said it might take a while, but he would fix it. By the end of the day I was informed I could pick it up; that it was done! When I went back the next day and Larry wheeled it out it looked like a new machine, and when he plugged it in it purred. This business' employees are empowered to take pride in their work by an owner who obviously still believes in customer service, cares enough to hire good people and encourages them to do their best. Took my vaccum to get serviced, they are very short with their conversation. I had a coupon, to use and therefor I could justify a deep clean for $70.00. Keep in mind this is a dyson that I have, so all the filters never need replacing only cleaning. Yes. this is true. I went ahead according to the request to authorize a part allowance of $30.00, So I just assumed that might be for a belt or a seal. I waited, never recieved a call saying it was ready for pick up. Bad customer service in itself, then I went to pick it up and they TOTALLY RIPPED ME OFF. No explanation of what was repaird and just a slip of paper inidcated that they replaced the FILTERS. Yes they did replace the filters and charge me for new ones, instead of just cleaning them. So I guess now I have two sets. 110.00 for vacuum cleaning. that was with the coupon. I don't feel a company should take it upon themself to rip off consummers, this is totally unacceptable. dyson filter NEVER need replacing, you wash them in the sink with dish soap and airdry. They sould be ashamed of themselves. don't go there, do have them repair anything and don't buy anything from them ever. There goal is just to rip you off. read more

-We brought our 40+ year-old Sewing Machine into Quality this past week (July 31, 2019) with a small, but necessary replacement of a spool-support part that had been broken. Patricia Rutt had done an exhaustive search to find a replacement, and called my wife to tell her that she had succeeded. We brought the machine into the store, where she and Larry Sage dropped what they were doing and prioritized helping us replace the part. They were professional, efficient, and patient as they worked on our machine. When they finished, they ran a trial to make sure the machine sewed properly before sending us out the door and helping to load the machine in our car. These are employees who displayed a rare level of concern for the customer-oh and despite spending 30 minutes on our repair, insisted on not charging us!! Both Patricia and Larry are terrific people and great employees; they bring honor to your company! read more
