I initially went to Quality Sewing and Vacuum for repairs, cleaning and tune up on my sewing machine after a really bad experience with another company. I found the staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately my old sewing machine was not worth fixing due to age and parts not being available. At that point I made the decision to buy a new machine. After doing some research on what I wanted I went back to QSV and again, the friendly, knowledgeable staff answered all my questions, let me try out various machines and gather information to make an educated decision. They were also respectful of my budget and never tried to push me into something out of my price range. I went home with two machines on my choice list. Something happened and a part fell down on my sewing machine, rendering it unusable. I have a service contract with Quality Sewing and Vacuum so I took it to the Tacoma store. I was told repair would be 2-3 weeks. True to their words, it was repaired and delivered back to the store for me to pick up in just under three weeks. It's a 2003 machine, but they found parts to repair my needle threader and also my bobbin case (which I didn't know was damaged from all the years of needle breaks). I was charged parts, less 20%, due to my service contract. They did routine maintenance as well and it now sews perfectly!! Cost to me...$43 total for parts only! I was very impressed with the care in handling and repairing my sewing machine. Everyone was very friendly and my machine works like new again. Thanks to all at this honest and professional store! I brought my $500 Dyson in for repairs. They had it for a week and then told me it couldn't be repaired, that the parts were discontinued. They then offered me a $50 trade in towards one of their over priced vacuums, I said no. A friend told me about the Dyson store in Fife so I when there. Not only did he have the part in stock but he fixed it for me while I waited and didn't charge me any labor charge. Quality Sewing & Vacuum you should be ashamed...... read more

Purchased my Pfaff sewing machine at quality Sewing in a Tacoma Wa several years ago replacing my old machine that was a graduation gift 30 years prior. Due to the high tech machine went to sewing classes provided by the store. Kathy was our instructor at that time, she is a renown educator whether working with beginners or highly experienced quilters and/or those who love to embroidery; over the years she has helped me troubleshoot quilting problems and/ or machine use issues as she has the same brand of machine as I do. She is a wealth of information and a delight to work with. It's great to have a local store that can service my machine and friendly staff that have a working knowledge of the specialty machines as well as a great inventory of accessories and tools in addition to fabric. read more

He was so great, he was the whole reason I took my sewing machine in to have them look at it. When I arrived, LeAnne greeted me. I barely got the words out of my mouth and she knew EXACTLY what was wrong. She had me bring out my machine, proceeded to show me EVERYTHING I needed to know to run my machine. She helped me pick out the correct needles, the correct thread, gave me a dozen pointers. I had a special project I was working on that I told her about, she showed me what I needed for that. I cannot say enough about this store! Everyone is very nice and happy, not to mention how knowledgeable and kind. I thought that I had broken my new sewing machine . I brought it to them to see if it needed to be sent out for service. Long story short, Kathy was so sweet. She patiently explained just what had happened. It was me that happened! I recently made a purchase from Quality Sewing on line. A Birthday gift for s friend. Due to supply chain issues, Quality Sewing was awaiting their shipment to arrive. Because of the projected timeline, I decided it might still arrive on time. Unfortunately it did not and Quality Sewing issued a full refund. Their Customer Service Team, especially Adam, was excellent. They kept me informed of my order and when they realized it wasn't going to meet my date, processed the refund for me. I have been sewing for over 50 years, including tailoring. I went to Quality Sewing and Vacuum to get Organ brand Microtex (embroidery) needles. They didn't have any. I picked up a packed of Microtex needles and a packet of Titanium needles and asked a sales clerk if Microtex and Titanium needles were essentially the same. She didn't know (more on her later) and took me to the front to ask the very superior, I'm better than everyone here, woman (no lady!) who preceded to ask me questions that had no relevance to my question. Then escorted me to the needle wall and started lecturing me on needles...eye sizes, points, etc! I finally had enough, put the needle packages down and left, quietly. Now, the clerk that first "helped" me is the same one, when I told her for the last two services on my Q3 my main issue was the needle threader not working and that it still wasn't working EVEN AFTER PAYING FOR A NEW NEEDLE THREADER, who told me I should mention that when I brought the machine in for its annual service in 2023. Nope! The only reason I will return to Quality is to use the service plan I purchased for my new, back up machine. The store in Puyallup is no better! Oh, Joann had the needles I needed. read more

went for the first time today! my machine magically cured itself before we got to the store so it was sewing fine when they went to test it. But it has served me very well over the years so I bought a new one from them and save my old one for heavy duty work or teaching my niece. Service was excellent. A few weeks ago I had brought in two of my sewing machines for repair. One of them, the bobbin winder was broken and we were not able to repair at that time. It would need more extensive servicing... As for the other machine- the needle would jam frequently, so I wanted to make sure the settings were configured correctly. At no cost, Tabea (the sales associate that helped me) replaced the needle of my machine and checked that it sewed properly! She also advised me of a different foot that would better suit my project and that would prevent the needle from sticking/jamming. For the broken bobbin winder, she recommended that if I did not want to pay for the expensive repair, I could simply buy a separate winder from my machine (I had not thought of this!). I highly recommend this store as the associate Tabea was extremely nice and helpful! read more

Totally helpful staff! They helped me understand that my repairs that I made with my Brother re-winder was good with the melted O ring, but those bobbins done prior to that were squishy to the touch, which means they had to be re-wound. All I can say is after my rip apart of my Brother sewing machine and learning that every other brand is identical with the same issue, just get a stand alone bobbin re-winder and not deal with a melted belt for that purpose. In November 2015, I took my 40 year-old Singer in for service. The people here in Tacoma were very helpful and upfront about my machine. It was ready for pick-up in a timely manner and works great. The very next day one of the ads in the newpaper showed a $25 off coupon for Sewing Machine Service. I wrote and asked if they would honor that coupon 'after' the fact, they said yes. I have bought three sewing and quilting machines from Quality Sewing over the years - have been a customer for more than 15 years. I am a researcher who looks for a deal online as well as shop locally. If the price is close online (and even if a bit more), I would still purchase locally from Quality Sewing. The follow up and free training and guidance on your machine is so worth it. Great customer service - can always get my questions answered. Joining the Sew Fun club each year is also worth it. Club members not only can attend special trainings and events each month, but they also get a 20% discount on purchases. I found that the discounts I received this year on some AccuQuilt products made the membership worth it. read more

I have been going to the Tacoma branch for years, and I have always received exemplary service. I have purchased 5 sewing machines and a serger over the years, and always purchased a maintenance contract with them. I have never had to pay for parts or service, regardless of the problem. The staff members are knowledgeable and helpful, and classes are fun and informative. I recently called them for help because I was having difficulty orienting an embroidery pattern in my machine and we were able to resolve the problem over the phone. When I bought my Pfaff Creative Icon, I qualified for a bunch of free merchandise from the manufacturer. The manager Luann went the extra mile and made sure that I received the items from their own warehouse because Pfaff was taking too long. I can't say enough about how great these ladies are, all of them. read more

They have a lot of merchandise available to purchase and all of it is top of the line. They will stand by with anything that is under warranty but if its out of warranty, beware! I took my Bissel tile cleaner in for a leak and because they didn't want to repair it because for a few bucks more I could get a "new" one. They said it would cost at least $100 plus parts to find the problem. I decided to take my cleaner to another local/small shop and they diagnosed the problem. After a few days, they said Bissel didn't make the part so they sent a replacement cleaner at no cost. My cost was the $27 to have the technician find the problem. My impression of Quality Sewing & Vacuum is that they only want to sell new products and make their commission. I thought they were pretty high pressure to sell product. They do "okay" with their servicing your product but they are more expensive than other places. Lesson learned, support the small local guys. They take pride in servicing an satisfying the customer. read more

I attended a two day class on my Brother Dream Machine and it was the best class I have ever had on any machine I own. The instructors knew their stuff and were able to convey it to the attendees. They made sure everyone understood the lesson before moving onto something else and gave extra help to those that needed it. The staff of the store were also helpful. After doing some research on sewing machines I found this company was the only one in the area that sold the brand of machines I wanted (according to the manufacturer's website) so I paid the store a visit. I told them my price range and the features I wanted and I was shown some nice machines but they weren't the one I wanted. The system was checked to see if they had my machine and I was told the price would be DOUBLED the MSRP. So I asked if they price matched and showed the sales lady the price on the manufacturer's website. The price was adjusted and I was told the machine would be shipped to the store from their warehouse and I could come in and look at the machine. My phone number was taken down wrong so I never received a call but I called them to check the status and was told the machine had been in for a while. I went in to check it out and was pretty much shown the box and nothing else. I wasn't allowed to actually touch the machine to see if it was something I wanted to buy. So I went back online to see if anyone had videos on using the actual machine. I was called later and told I would have to make a deposit on the machine or it would be sent back to the warehouse. Due to their hours I was unable to make it in until a week later. When I went in to make the payment I was told the machine was still available and I could pick it up once I paid the remaining balance. I decided I would visit the sewing expo before making my final decision. I called the shop after the expo to inform them that I indeed wanted the machine and could come in that day to get it since I was told it was ordered to the store after I made my deposit but the machine wasn't there. The rep told me she would check on the order and call me the next day. That never happened. I was given the run around for almost a month. I ended up getting my deposit back and later called about another machine. They gave me the price but I found the same machine at South Sound Sewing for half the price. I'm convinced this place jacks up the prices on their machines for no reason. read more

I had an incident where I needed to replace the hose to my Miele vacuum; Mel was great, he had just ordered the very one a day before and put my name on it At the same time, I decided to replace the power head as I have had issues with the original one. There was a slight mixup with the order so it did not arrive on the next day as planned. The manager allowed me to take the one off the showroom floor and they will pick up another from their warehouse. So, those of you that don't think too much about it except when something goes awry with an order, it's how the problem is resolved and the graciousness of the representative that makes a company great . . . that is why Quality Sewing received a five!
