I will always use this amazing business. I thought I needed a new battery and was expecting to pay around $250. Turns out I only needed the connectors cleaned. The owner of Budget batteries checked everything thoroughly and did not charge me a thing. He only asked me that when I do need a new battery that I come back to his business. I absolutely will. Talk about great Customer Service and a good businessman, wow. Such a rarity these days. I will be loyal and return to purchase a new battery when the time comes. read more

Found out we had a power drain in our car and the battery died unexpectedly. Called and got a quote over the phone. We had that much in a crunch so went and picked it up. Battery has been great and price was good. Nice, quick, friendly staff. Would definitely use these guys again if we're in need. read more

My car battery was bad so I stopped here to see if they could help. They were all so friendly and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I got a great deal and was on my way. Highly recommend. read more

In 2021 I purchased a battery with a 5 year warranty, in 2023 it went bad and they gave in another one, same as the first one but charged me 79,00 because 2 years of my warranty was gone. Now 2026 that same battery that I paid 79.00 for in 2023 with a 5 year warranty is now bad again, and they tell me the warranty is expired. Since I bought the first one in 2021 they say the 5 years are over. They take no account for the one replacement I got in 2023 with a 5 year warranty and paid 79.00. They are getting pretty shady, I will stay away from them going forward. read more

Watch out ladies! I just went to this budget battery and had my battery checked. The owner or head guy told me my battery was junk. I said "what"? he repeated itcand said that he would sell me a used one for 79.99 or a new one 139.00. I knew it couldn't be my battery since I bought a new one in February. I Than Took to autozone on 38th who put it on the machine which said my battery was good and also my starter and alternator were also great. I've been going to this budget battery for years never thought they would lie to me like that. They wanted to get money plain and simple. So disappointed. Don't go ladies or you will get played like they tried to do me. Smh read more

I'd been having some trouble and wasn't sure whether it was the battery or the alternator going bad, so I took it to Budget Batteries. They took a look at both and determined the problem was as simple as a loose terminal. They tightened it up for me and sent me on my way without charging me. I appreciate the quick troubleshooting and friendly service! When I do need to replace my battery, I will most certainly be going here. read more

Came here in the midst of our Seattle Freeze 2023 since my car was starting to have a hard time turning over in the icy mornings. They tested my battery, told me it was at the end of its life, and got me a used battery at a great price in 10 minutes. I was impressed by their efficiency and courtesy. Used batteries have 1 year warranty and new batteries have a 5 year warranty. Wish they were more upfront about this before I chose a used battery, but I found out after reading the reviews and asking them questions, I probably would have gotten a new battery for the sake of the warranty. It's a no frills place since you're literally there for a car battery. They also take your old battery for you. read more

I had a very good experience with them. I called 4 other places to get a quote to put in a Prius battery. Then, I saw a review for Budget Batteries and happened to be driving by. Stopped in and they said they just happened to have 1 in stock. $10 less than everyone else and they put it in for free. I ended up saving over $200 and they were super nice and efficient. It took approximately 30 minutes to complete! read more

My wife's car was in need of a replacement battery, so I called ahead to get a quote and to check on availability, which was quick and professional. She took it in the next day with no appointment necessary. She called me at most 20 minutes after arriving and said it was one of the easiest and most professional experiences she has had in years, and told me to make sure we recommend them to anyone we know for a transparent, accurate, and fast battery need. Great price for the replacement with a 6 year warranty, and no installation fee tacked on. read more

I have purchased several batteries over the years from this business. In late October, I bought a new battery for my Ford Ranger, to replace a dead one. The clerk helping me was new, computer challenged, didn't know the POS system and was unfamiliar with looking up the correct battery in the manual. I spent a lot of time standing at the counter while the owner trained his clerk, while waiting on me. I left with a battery but that sinking feeling it wasn't the correct one. I had to return a week later to return the dead battery and get my deposit back. Another new clerk that didn't know the POS system. He was too timid to ask the owner for help (the owner was working another car. The clerk would wait for be acknowledged but wouldn't approach him) finally after about twenty minute the owner took over for the flailing newbie. He again was doing training while I waited. Told the clerk he didn't have the right 'screen' up, couldn't print the receipt, process a refund... I got my refund. I don't buy batteries with any frequency but will definitely source them from Ball Auto or another vendor next time read more

Doug and his team are terrific. I went in thinking I had two expensive dead Lifeline AGM 4D batteries that I would have to replace due to a bad inverter/charger . They were fairly new and Doug thought he could revive them which would save me a ton of money. Well he did resurrect them and whenever the batteries do go finally bad, I will definitely buy new ones from Doug and Budget Batteries Tacoma. read more

I highly recommend this place! I have always had great experiences with Budget Batteries. Their prices are very reasonable with good quality products. Doug is very knowledgeable and friendly. They do good work and aren't overpriced. They even do some tasks and don't ask for pay. It is very hard to find a place like this. read more

This is a great business! They take care of their customers very quickly, are very friendly, and if you ever have a problem with a battery, they will figure it out. No waiting, a remarkable place! They sell new batteries as well as refurbished. I have always gone with a new one and never had a problem. Sort of a drive thru set up, change the battery, head off to Costco, and get a chicken for dinner. A good experience! read more

Doug is the best! Won't go anywhere else for my cars needs. Him and his crew are the best around.

Pulled in tobudget batteries. My daughters car was dying and not starting. Justin came to assist. He discovered that there was a drain on the car battery tested the alternator and the battery. He replaced the old battery with a new one. The alternator was testing fine; he discovered that there was a wiring drain on the battery. He repaired the wiring drain after finding it Even sprayed the battery so that it won't corrode and he fixed my daughters car in under 20 minutes. I spoke to the owner of budget batteries and told him that Justin is amazing and that they provided excellent service when we needed it. read more

I can't say enough about the quality service I have received from Doug and team at Budget Batteries on Center Street. Very nice people, they found there was a problem with my battery when Autozone had said it was fine (PLEASE DON'T TRUST AUTOZONE they're not certified mechanics) They were thorough on putting everything back & treated my Challenger like gold!!!! Huge shoutout to these guys! I dropped into an auto parts store after having to get my car jumped the other day. They tested my battery and it was in fact dead. The new battery was pretty expensive and then I'd have to figure out how to get it in. They recommended I stop by budget. I stopped in and in less than 10 minutes, very friendly service, and a reasonable price- I was good as new and don't have to worry about my car not starting. Thank you!! read more

Great guys. Great service. But be warned. These are refurbished batteries. Not always up to spec with manufactures guidelines. The one I bought checked out as having good power but causing problem with electrical system and causing battery drain overnight. read more

I was told my battery was so badly corroded that it needed to be cleaned by the dealership because my battery required a professional install and they couldn't touch it. With the time it takes and the cost of service at the dealership I thought I'd try a battery place and see what they said. Doug cleaned and put a protectant on there and wouldn't take my money. Everyone there was friendly and helpful. When my battery does go, I'll come back for sure. read more

We just moved here from a few states away. We tried to start the car yesterday and it was dead, just thought it was from moving, no big deal right? Well, died again today, got it running, were out doing errands and saw this place. Decided to pop in, and walah!! 10 minutes later we had a fair price, great quality, amazing customer service and a new battery! Can't say enough about the men who work there!! Never had an easier/better experience with anything car related!! Highly recommend and encourage you to visit them. Local, honest, affordable and kind. read more

A Boeing security guard was able to get my car running by shaking the positive battery terminal/cable connection. I drove straight to Budget Battery and told them that I may need a new battery because of a bad battery post or else the positive battery cable connector replaced. They checked my battery/cable connector and tightend a loose bolt. Total charge was $00 (zero) and the mechanic would not even accept a monetary tip. I was told that the cable connectors on side-mount batteries often come loose; it's just the nature of the beast. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUDGET BATTERY. They are my heroes. read more

This review is long over due. Everytime I want to review a place for their service, good or bad, I end up being lazy and not doing it. Today is the day! 1st dealings with them I had a car that wouldn't start up. Figured it to be battery or starter, so I took it to O'Reilleys to have it checked out whether it could be recharged or not. The O'Reilleys rep put it on the equipment for a minute or so, comes back and says I need to buy a new battery or get a used one from a lot. Not saying I have come into people that are suppose to somewhat be experts in their field, but I felt that his answer may have been some bull. Anyway, just like they tell you with doctors, I went for a second opinion. I had looked Budget Batteries up just in case I needed to buy a used one, also to see if it was rechargeable or not. I get there close to closing and they guys asks how he can help me. I told him the situation, that the O'Reilly rep said it was bad and I needed a new one. The Budget Battery rep (supervisor or owner possibly) grins and tells me, let me keep it overnight and see what i can do. I was totally down to have him try, so I leave it with him. Come back the next day, and it's good to go. The cost....$5. Can't beat that, I was happy as hell. Second occurrence, the same car sitting close to a year seems to have some parasitic draw (7-8 months later from first time it died ) or my wife is leaving doors/lights on, who knows.... Anyway, my battery is dead and I once again take it to a different O'Reillys. Mostly because I moved and it was closer. Anyhow, same bit from them. Your battery is at two volts, you need a new one, blah blah. The next day I take it to Budget Batteries, leave it with em overnight and voila! Battery is once again good to go. This time for FREEE! These guys are awesome, I will keep coming to them as they have my business forever. Just the fact I actually took the time ( im lazy ) to write this review should mean it's honest and believable. Good work yal!!! read more

My battery gave me a little trouble starting up last night. Then was fine when I started after a grocery trip. This morning it was completely dead, after a jumpstart I headed over here & was given immediate service. They tested my old battery even though I said I needed one, so that reassurance was nice. You can choose a new battery I think they quoted me at $90 - but I chose a reconditioned one that came to $54.70 total. He said it comes with a one year warranty but should last 5 easily. read more

My husband & I have been in other Budget Battery locations before & never had the great customer service we've gotten here in the Tacoma location on Center St. Doug the owner/manager is the best & so are the folks who work for him. We've only been in a couple of times & he treats us like family. He stands behind all of his batteries, they check em out before they go out etc. Ask this man anything about batteries be it solar or vehicle & he knows his stuff! We went in this last time for 4 solar batteries (very expensive). We barely had enough $ for used ones & are both disabled, off grid & our system had been totally wiped out (4/20 left). We had nothing left for electricity. Doug took mercy on us & sold us practically new ones, he didn't have to, he's in the business to make money after all. It was going to take every dime we had! He gave us change back, gave me a hug & when I said "God bless you" he said "I am blessed every day". We had electricity all night for the first time in over a month. So when, not if, you go into Budget Batteries on Central Street in Tacoma tell Doug Cyndy & Karl say hi! read more

Incredible warranty! Easy and convenient customer service. I accidentally left a car charger on in my car, overnight... for two nights. I had to call roadside assistance from USAA. Anyway, I drive straight over to Budget Batteries and they gave me a loaner battery to use while they charged mine. Zero wait time, massively convenient. So glad I go my battery here! read more

Right when I hopped out of my uber, Doug approached me with a smile and a "no problem, I got you" approach. And to sum it up, he got me. And it was SUPER cheap with an awesome 5 year warranty!!! I was in and out in litrally 4 1/2 minutes. read more

Needed a battery. Got a battery. Excellent shop. Tom on the phone was courteous and helpful. Trevor was super fast checking old battery and installing new one. Got a refurbished. Wouldn't ever think of that, especially from stranger to this Houston guy, but their Yelp reviews were so good, and their business so efficient, I felt very comfortable taking their refurbished unit. Manager Hurst was on top of things. Highly recommended. I may never be able to use them again, but any contacts either I or my daughter's family (Tacoma new residents) encounter will be happily informed. Charge on. read more

You guys fucking suck. Maybe don't drain a battery entirely before you test the alternator. Had to spend 40 bucks on a jumper box because 300 bucks for an alternator is outrageous, the most expensive alternator there is online for my car is 160 bucks. 140 for labor is stupid, you're stupid. read more

Had battery issues. Staff was extremely honest and saved me a couple buck. Definitely would go back.

SO, here's a lovely "Part II" to my nightmare! The battery I bought at Center Street started giving me problems within months, but I figured it was maybe a bad connection or something. Maybe a battery terminal. Anyway, I need a jump probably 3 times since I got that battery! The biggest problem is that I wasn't able to get in and talk to them about the battery or have them check it out. Until Saturday, October 25th. They tested the battery and said it had a dead cell. There was nothing they could do to fix it. I found my receipt and it was dated 10/15/13. UGH! I was basically screwed at that point! Yep, it was 10 days out of warranty!!! So can you guess what happened? No, they didn't say "oh, don't worry sir, you've bought so many batteries from us over the years that we're going to overlook the 10 days and get you a new battery". Instead, they gave me the price of the 2 batteries I could chose from! I had no choice I guess but to buy a new battery. As the guy was replacing my battery, my best friend called and said "That isn't right! They SHOULD just give you another battery! A cell doesn't just DIE, it had to have been over time or already dead when it was sold to you!" (which was what I thought they would do). Nope, I had to not only pay, but the battery went from $45 to $50 in the last year! And try to find any ownership or home office information is almost impossible! Apparently if you have a problem you have no choice but talk to the person you dealt with to begin with. I'm not going to sleep very well until I get the price I had to pay for the new battery after theirs failed. read more

Great prices and even better service. I have no complaints at all!! They are very quick and really helpful. I've never had any problems with them or their batteries. I've owned older and newer cars and taken them all here. These guys can definitely be trusted. read more

Quick, courteous and no nonsense. I rolled in with a battery that was on it's way out and they set to work right away, testing the battery, alternator and starter for free. Once they discovered the problem, they offered several inexpensive options and didn't try to pressure me into something I didn't want. They deal in reconditioned and "off-brand" batteries so I can't speak to the overall quality but when you're facing a dead battery and payday is a week or two away, they can't be beat. The whole encounter was done in approximately 15 minutes. Thanks Budget Batteries, you're a lifesaver. read more
