was able to snag some after my lagree class at KAI and omg!!! first, the girls working are so sweet and they have an adorable set up with books that are covered up with descriptions to guess the book. they also have a super cute intro on their business and i love the idea behind the last chapter. i had a great conversation with them and they're so sweet. i was able to try a couple of their drinks and not a single miss!!! i will say the matcha color faded a lot after it sat for awhile which was a little sucky, but it was still super yummy. i suggest the hojicha tho it was SO good! they also have adorable heart straws and the 3 stack sippy straws!!!

If you know me, you know a banana matcha latte hates to see me coming. Well, when I found out Last Chapter was having a local pop-up I didn't miss my chance. The baristas were so friendly and fast. Loved their set-up and it was very organized. The banana matcha latte was soooooo good. One of the best I've had. Not overly sweet, I got less sweet and such a good cream top. Can't wait for them to be local again.

Came to their pop-up, but they barely had any supplies we couldn't even get matcha because they were out. We all got the pandan hojicha, and it honestly felt like we mostly paid for ice. It was pretty expensive, and it might have been worth it if we were able to get the matcha. Maybe it just wasn't their day I'd still love to try them again on a better day.

Lucky Charms Matcha & French Toast Matcha

I didn't get these drinks from the pop-up, but I ordered them through curbside pickup instead. I tried the Lucky Charms matcha, and the layering is so pretty. The matcha flavor is strong, while the cream top has a light vanilla note, so it's not too overpowering, but still good overall. For some reason, I assumed the French toast matcha would come with a cream top, but maybe I'm wrong. This one has a stronger flavor, and the cinnamon really stands out. It's good!

I was so excited to pick up my order from Last Chapter and was greatly disappointed upon first sip. I ordered their matcha latte and my friend got their strawberry matcha latte. They were overly iced and milked, which was disappointing.

The best Banana Matcha in the Bay

Last Chapter has been my favorite cafe for almost a year now! Their drinks are creative, the taste is consistent and the staff are the kindest people. My absolute favorite drink is the Banana Matcha, it's just perfection! You can taste the premium matcha, it's creamy and the flavor of banana is not overpowering and pairs nicely with the matcha. Also, most cafes charge for a dairy free replacement, they do not. I follow their Instagram to see where they will be next and I'm hoping they open a permanent location soon.

Lucky Charms Matcha and Pandan Hojicha

Last Chapter Cafe has delicious matchas and hojichas! I was really excited to try their matcha since they use Nami Matcha, which is the same matcha powder I use at home. Next time I go, I'll have to try their coffees because those also look incredibly good. I highly recommend going to one of their pop-ups and trying their drinks! I personally really liked their Lucky Charms matcha latte but my sister's Pandan Hojicha was also very good!

Favorite matcha popup to date! I've ordered tray fulls weeks in a row! Favorite is the classic double matcha. Not too sweet, great matcha flavor, not too creamy or watery. Perfection. Yvonne the owner is super nice as well. Happy to be supporting local small businesses!

Nami Matcha

I got the Banana Matcha & Gingerbread Matcha at their Cupertino holiday pop-up, which I was happy to catch on a Thursday morning! Reasonable pricing. Baristas and owner were friendly and quick! Was super excited to try Nami Matcha, which is popularized on social media and seen all over my Instagram feed. The matcha is super earthy and had a strong bitterness that I enjoyed. It balanced pretty well with the milk. Of the two drinks I got, my favorite was the Banana Matcha! So yum! The matcha was fragrant and earthy, but the banana could definitely have a stronger flavor. I appreciate that the drinks aren't too sweet! It's about 25% sweetness naturally compared to other cafes. So if you're expecting a super sugary drink, this is NOT FOR YOU.

Lychee Berry Matcha

Amazing pop up shop! I've been here twice and she's exceeded my expectations both times. I first found out about the cafe through social media and went to one of the collabs with 313 Wellness at the Hayes Mansion just so that I could try the matcha! I love that she uses Nami Matcha because it's one of my favorite matcha brands. I personally use it at home but this cafe takes matcha combinations to the next level and is unmatched to any formal cafe. I was lucky to try the Sticky Dates matcha, Lychee Berry matcha (the best matcha experience I've ever had) and then the Mango Cloud matcha. Her cream top alone deserves a 10/10 rating by itself. The creamiest and thickest I've EVER had. Last Chapter Cafe is definitely a must try! Also would love for Lychee Berry to come back!

They brought back the s'mores for this month and added a new pumpkin drink out for October. I tried the s'mores latte. It was super yummy with a hint of caramel from the toasted marshmallows. Also, according to their instagram, they have a new home at Kai Lagree Studio. They'll have lots of appearances there this whole month. Go check them out if you can :-)

Cookie butter latte
Steffi G.

Last Chapter Cafe is my favorite home-based/pop up coffees. Her cookie butter latte is my absolute favorite!! I've been wanting to venture off and try her other creative drinks, but I feel like I'm cheating on the cookie butter haha. You can customize your sweetness and ice levels and type of milk. I'm going to try out her matcha drinks and hojichas next time, I promise! Highly recommend. I first tried her drinks when she was operating out of a restaurant but glad her home is nearby and not in the Tully traffic lol.

Salted maple matcha
Christina L.

I got to try the salted matcha maple and the caramel apple crisp latte after my lagree class at Kai Lagree. They were both super yummy! They have a partnership with nami matcha and the flavor is pretty interesting compared to other matchas I've tried. Last Chapter Cafe, Nami Matcha, and Kai Lagree are all aapi and women owned (please correct me if I'm wrong) which is pretty great! Looking forward to checking them out again at my next lagree class on the 24th!

The cozy velvet chairs makes this place a nice little gettaway for tea and catching up with friends. I appreciate there is no upcharge for non-dairy milk here. They have an oat milk option as well as a 2% lactose-free option. The service was great and the cashier was very friendly. My friend is lactose intolerant and I'm vegan so we both were looking for non-dairy options. There was something for the both of us. The cashier was knowledgeable about the menu and how to accommodate to our dietary preferences without much fuss. There wasn't much of a wait time which was nice too. I ordered their matcha latte, light ice, no sweetener, and added strawberry puree. It was perfect! I look forward to coming back to try their other drinks.

With that in mind, with the decor and the aesthetics in here, I would recommend dining in over grabbing a drink order and doing a to go because I think that's where their strengths are. Would be cute for photo backdrops or to catch up with some tea and some tea with the buddies. For our brunch/late breakfast order, we got the: 1) Corn Milk with Pandan Jelly (less ice, less sugar): -Even with these adjustments it was still quite sweet, I'm not sure if it was from the run off from the jelly. I think if I was going to order it again, I'd get it with no sugar and just go with whatever natural sweetness the corn and the jelly would add in normally. -Only other place I've seen corn milk at was Unu Cafe in SoCal, but this one was a bit too sweet in comparison. I'll keep that in mind for future orders. Panda jelly was pretty good though. 2) Salted Hojicha (less ice, no sugar): -Creamy and milky, the saltiness added an extra depth of flavor. Ordering it at zero sweetness, again was a very good call, because my boyfriend who is intolerant to anything sweet said this made him ill because it was too sweet?? It ended up being my drink in the end and it was not bad overall. 3) Smoked Ham & Swiss Cheese Pockets: -Imagine those Pillsbury Crescent rolls but with smoked ham and Swiss cheese inside. Simple, delicious, and note bad for breakfast. 4) Dubai Chocolate Cake: -Our friend ended up eating this as his dessert and said it was overall okay, though a tad dry. 5) Smoked Bacon Egg & Cheese Croissant: -It's a normal breakfast croissant. Nothing to write home about. I don't mind trying this place again, just as a sit down restaurant.

Speedy, efficient service with a smile and since it was Memorial Day weekend, the ambiance to the cafe was already quite lively and bustling with customers. Very clean and modern inside with plenty of seating and there's outdoor patio seating too, which is quite nice on a sunny, mild weather day. For our brunch we got the: 1) Chicken Pate Chaud: -One of my favorite pastries and truly the pinnacle of "Asian fusion" if you think about it. -Flaky, delicate exterior. Moist, slightly chewy give to the interior, along with the tender, chicken inside. Good stuff each time you get it, just a bit messy to eat with the flakes coming off with each bite. 2) Pandan Waffle: -Not as flavorful as I would have liked, but it' hits the spot and it's a simple snack item. Edge was a bit crispy but it was a bit soggier in the middle than what I would have liked. 3) Instant Noodle: -Actually this was just an instant noodle cup but it was for a brand that I have never tried before, so that was okay in my book at least. Ordered this not entirely sure what to expect, but if I truly knew what it was, I don't think I'd get it again. But I did enjoy it in the following week later on. I love instant noodles, so not bad! 4) Coconut Bun: -Very coconut-y. But a bit dry, so I'd skip in the future. 5) Ham & Egg Cheese Bun: -Got this for a friend and he said it was alright. 6) Matcha Banana Foam: -I got this less sweet, less ice and with soy milk. -Even with less sweet this was pretty sweet from the banana foam. It's alright, but is nowhere near as good as Airoma's or Da Vien's. 7) Black Coffee: -I ordered this with no sugar and a cream egg. Cream egg definitely made it a twinge sweeter, but my boyfriend said it was overall okay. I don't mind coming back to sit in and dine in here in the future.

There's some general outside seating, but the the shop is too small to have indoor seating (I ended up waiting for my drink outside because it can hold about 2 people before it gets awkward). The service itself is great--ordering and receiving my drink happened quickly, and the drink I ordered came with an osmanthus syrup that I could definitely taste (there were bits of the osmanthus in the drink, which could be a plus or minus depending on personal preference). The matcha was fragrant, and I did enjoy my drink. I will say that it does err on the pricy side, at around $7-9 per drink. I liked my drink, but maybe not enough to justify the cost, especially considering there isn't any space to sit down and relax. Definitely worth a shot if you're interested in some of their more unique items, but probably not a regular stop, at least for me.

It makes it super worth the price too. Because I felt I was getting a higher quality drink for the same place as elsewhere (about 8$ with taxes) For location, it's inside of a bigger store, so don't get confused. Also if you're in a rush, they make the drinks per order and the matcha takes a while. They're strong in…read morethe best way: you can actually taste the tea or matcha, and the citrus comes through bright and fruity. So far I've tried the yuzu, mango cloud, passion fruit, and hojicha brown sugar, and there wasn't a miss among them. Plenty of flexibility on sugar and ice levels too. The setting is a nice bonus. It shares a space with a small market, another café, and a food stall, so there's plenty to eat and browse. It's tucked in the back of the complex, which keeps it quiet and low-traffic, and there's plenty of seating. Parking is easy too, with a lot right there. The reason this isn't five stars is the cup system and how my return was handled. If you're staying in, you can borrow their cups for free, but for to-go you need to bring your own vessel or pay a $2 deposit on one of their jars, refunded when you return it. I get the idea, and it's nice for the planet, but in practice it's a hassle. When I brought my jar back on this visit, the staff member inspected every inch of it, then discussed it with a coworker right in front of me, who then said something along the lines of "we can't sell that, but it's okay, just take it." It wasn't said to me directly, but I was standing right there, and it felt uncomfortable. I'd run the jar through the dishwasher, nothing unusual, and friends who came in afterward returned theirs the same way with no issue at all. They also didn't apply the discount for bringing my own vessel until I asked. Between the pushback on the return and having to ask for the discount, it was a frustrating experience. Honestly, I'd rather a café just use compostable paper cups. Great drinks, but I'm on the fence about coming back.

I'm glad they have a large selection of drinks because that gives a lot of different options depending on what you're craving. I also appreciate that they have non-caffeinated options since there are some days we want a drink at night. When there's a lot of people, it gets super crowded inside and it feels a little cramped especially in the summer and they ask to keep the door closed when the AC is on. Our drinks took a little over 10 minutes, but they were worth the wait. The brown sugar flavor was rich and delicious without being overly sweet. The boba had a nice chew to it, slightly firmer than I personally prefer, but still very good. I was also pleasantly surprised by the cup size. It's comparable to some of my favorite boba spots, yet comes at a more affordable price. With so many great places to eat in this shopping center, I know we'll be back, and this will definitely be one of our regular stops whenever we're in the area.
