The following is my opinion and perception of the events that occurred on March 26, 2014. My friend and I scheduled a free consultation back in February 2014. Within days of scheduling, I received paperwork in the mail confirming the appointment, but my friend oddly never received any mail. Regardless, we both went for a free consultation and I scheduled my LASIK procedure for March 26, 2014 with Dr. Marino at the LASIK Plus Vision Center (7840 Montgomery Road). I arrived at 3pm for a 3:20 appointment with the same friend from above. They called me to fill out paperwork, pay for the procedure and then asked me to sit back down in the lobby. My friend knew that I was nervous and asked if they could give me something to calm my nerves. They told him that it requires a prescription to be filled at a pharmacy. I was never notified at any point during consultation or scheduling that I needed to call ahead for a prescription. At 3:50 I went to the desk to ask them about the wait time as I was anxious and felt I had been waiting an extraordinary period of time without any updates. The person at the counter was very nice, listened, and started to take me back to the doctor to discuss sedatives to calm my nerves. I met Molly in passing and ended up following her to the prep room. I felt more at ease once I was in the room and the process was started and she explained that they were just behind schedule because another patient had some complications earlier in the day. Besides my nerves, everything was going fine until Dr. Marino walked in. At first he was pleasant until I started to ask questions that my primary eye doctor mentioned and that's when Dr. Marino became agitated. Specifically, I asked him if he was going to recheck my prescription as my normal eye doctor (who was also doing my post-op after-care) said that because I wore contacts 24/7 for months at a time that my eyes might be misshaped and my prescription might change after wearing glasses for 6 weeks. He immediately responded that they had just rechecked my eyes that day by the other doctor and pulled my records after I told him that did not happen. He reviewed my records and then changed the story saying that a recheck was unnecessary and that I was "uneducated" on how this works. He then said that I was "stopping the train". He told me that he needed to leave to take care of other patients that were ready to go, so my friend and I waited for his return. In the meantime they retested my eyes to verify the prescription per my request. They did admit that the prescription came out slightly different and now my entire prescription needed to change. He came back and did the following: 1. Cut off my friend mid-sentence and said "I cannot talk to my patient because you won't stop speaking" 2. He told me that the retest changed my prescription and now he was going to have to go with the most conservative adjustment, which would likely only give me 20/25 or 20/30 vision as he was too worried that a more aggressive prescription would just make me unhappy based on his perception of my personality. 3. Told me that I needed to reschedule a consultation because I needed special handling 4. Said that I am a perfectionist and no matter what he did, I'd probably never be happy. I have no idea where that comment came from and it's as though he was trying to make me out to be an overly difficult patient to justify his behavior toward my friend and I. I was honestly just nervous and had conflicting information from my eye doctor that I was trying to sort out. 5. Said that all my questions should have been answered by his staff before he walked in and that I was holding up the process. 6. I was told that his entire staff was on standby past their shift because of me. In frustration, I told him that I'm sure his expertise was excellent, but his bedside manner was not good. He decided to "pause" the procedure and my money was refunded. Overall, I'm a reasonable person who was just nervous and had questions. The situation could have easily been resolved if he had just talked to me in a manner that did not come across as condescending (my perception) to both my friend and I. When he said "you are stopping the train" my interpretation was that patients are like cattle and my questions were slowing the assembly line down too much. I would like to note that the staff are professional, friendly and attentive...unfortunately Dr. Marino mistook my questions as a personal attack and now I have to start the process all over again with a different company. The Customer Relations Rep did offer to send me to another city and pay for an overnight stay, but I decided to decline as I wanted to stay local in case any complications occurred. So Lasik-Plus did try to remediate the issue as best they could, but unfortunately Dr. Marino is the only doctor here at the LASIK Plus Cincinnati location. read more

Three days post-op and vision is perfect. I'm convinced that I was a horrible patient since they kept telling me how good I did. Basically when they keep telling you how good you did that's typical doctor-talk for "holy crap, that guy was one nervious SOB". I am also convinced that, had I not selected LasikPlus and Dr. Marino, given all of his experience, my procedure would not have been as successful. He knew exactly what to say during the procdure to help everything go smoothly. Before my procedure, I was in the "Lasik is Lasik" boat, after going through the procedure I am convinced that doctor experience is by-far the most important factor. The staff at LasikPlus was friendly and helpful throughout the visits, no concerns on that front either. The day of the procedure did have a bit of an "assembly line" feel, but you are in your own room pre-op and post-op and the staff really takes good care of you. My final conclusion is that I would recomend Dr. Marino to anyone in my immediate family if they are a candidate. read more

Dr. Marino and his entire staff were absolutely amazing!! I felt right at home from the moment I walked in for my consultation. Dr. Marino and his staff explained each step of the procedure as it was happening and each of them really put my mind at ease! My dad was my driver, so he also met the entire staff, the two of us have been raving to anyone who will listen about the spectacular level of care that I received! Each staff member is very personable and you can tell that they truly enjoy what they do! Dr. Marino even called me at 9:30pm after my procedure to see how I was doing, I thought that was a great touch :) And the best part.... I can see!! After my procedure I am now seeing 20/15!! And for anyone reading this that is wondering if it is painful, I experienced no pain at all! I would do this a million times over if I had to! I had my LASIK surgery a year ago at LasikPlus in Kenwood. Everything about my experience was positive. All the staff are very nice and helpful. Everyone explains everything they are doing in detail for you (before, during, and after surgery). I was offered options for making payments easier (they had a 2 years no interest credit line deal going on). The surgery itself was easy as pie. I was very very nervous and felt like I was going to freak out during it but everyone in the room calmed me down and talked me through every step. The surgery was short and sweet (I'm serious when I say I was out of the operating room in 10 minutes). I woke up later that afternoon after a 2-3 hour nap and I could see without my glasses. It was amazing. Every cent I paid was worth it. I did have to go back a few times after surgery (in addition to my regularly scheduled follow ups) due to the sensation of something being in one of my eyes.... They got me in right away, did everything they could to help uncover the problem, gave me more drops for free... they were excellent every step of the way. I would highly recommend getting a consultation and seeing how they can help you see perfectly! It's worth it! I did get a consultation from Midwest before LasikPlus. They told me that they could not do the surgery on me because my vision was not yet stable (I was 26 years old!) and that maybe I could come back in a few years. LasikPlus said that that was not true and I got my surgery a few weeks later! Everything was and is fine. I'm not sure what was up with Midwest, but I knew I had to get a second opinion and I'm glad I did and that I got my LASIK surgery at LasikPlus! read more

I had my blade less wavefront guided procedure done in May and couldn't be happier. I had considered LASIK for several years. After a friend has hers done, I took the plunge and am extremely satisfied with the results. The procedure itself is truly painless. The evening of the surgery was a little rough; it felt like I had soap in both eyes, and felt better to keep them closed. I woke up the next morning and was very close to normal. I had to use the wetting drops for a few weeks, and still do if it's really windy. I have some small halos at night, but that's to be expected. The only reason I don't wish I'd had this done 10 years ago is that the technology has significantly progressed in the last few years. Take the plunge, you won't be disappointed. read more

I had been wearing glasses and/or contacts for about 8 years before deciding to get LASIK. I now have 20/15 vision and am not sure I can properly express how satisfied I am with the entire experience I had at the LasikPlus Vision Center. The staff was courteous, professional, patient, and friendly. They took time to answer every question I had with clarity and transparency. They were forward and honest with their pricing, explaining each aspect to make sure it aligned with my expectations. Their efforts to make me feel comfortable and help me make a knowledgeable decision were beyond what I had expected. Dr. Marino is fantastic to work with. You can tell that he is very passionate about his work and I loved that he shared my excitement throughout the process. I CAN SEE! Yay!! But, seriously... that's just the benefit of the procedure. The real test of quality is the team that works with you for a procedure like this. I tried not to show it, but I was scared sh*tless about getting Lasik done - I'm not an eye person, as I assume most people aren't. I met quite a few of the team at LasikPlus Cincinnati throughout my 3 appointments, and I was at ease because of each of them at each appointment. My consultation was back in March (the day before my birthday!), and it went as smoothly as I expected. Markesha checked me in and was super friendly and helpful! She answered the basic questions I had regarding the consultation appointment. I had my exam, was determined a great candidate for Lasik (whew!), and then was able to schedule my procedure appointment with Markesha. We agreed on a date 50 days out from my wedding in July, to make sure I would be fully healed and able to see my future husband clearly. With wedding planning, I didn't have much time to think about the procedure until the night before, this past Wednesday. I sat at the Reds game wearing my glasses for the last night, ever. I started to get nervous during the 12th inning (the Reds will do that to you), but I was more excited than anything. - I wasn't going to let my nerves about Lasik get the best of me. Thursday morning, yesterday, I showed up at 8am at LasikPlus Cincinnati with my mother and my fiancé. Corinne, Ash, and Dr. Lenegade were all smiles and full of helpful answers, and eased my mind about the procedure. Kathleen was a joy to be around, both yesterday and today for my follow-up appointment. The procedure itself was quick and easy! Numbing drops, a few seconds for each eye at the first station to create the flap, a few seconds for each eye at the second station to give me laser vison (okay, you know what I mean), and a very informative team made for such an easy Lasik procedure. We were finished in about 8 minutes. Dr. Marino is quick, efficient, and very personable, which made for a relaxed atmosphere (again, whew!). A quick check after the procedure to make sure nothing was out of the ordinary (I had a small speck of dust on my right eye, which Dr. Marino cleared easily), and we took our Selfie! I went home, immediately took my 4.5 hour nap (yes, "I wear my sunglasses in bed" because I'm cool like that), and woke up being able to see. I spent the rest of the evening helping to run some errands and make dinner - the usual stuff. Today, I had my follow-up appointment. Again, every person I came in contact with was friendly, helpful, and excited for me! I was told I have 20/15 vision in each eye individually, and 20/20 when using both (I missed one letter out of four on the 20/15 line during the exam). I have very minimal bruising, light swelling, and pretty darn near perfect vision. I couldn't be happier!! Thinking about being able to see my future husband at the end of aisle CLEARLY, WITHOUT GLASSES... well, it makes me tear up! I can't thank LasikPlus Cincinnati enough, you all are the best! From the beginning consultation appointment to the actual surgeon calling me before surgery to see if I have any questions, I was completely at ease! During the actual procedure- which was an easy decision to make things to the guaranteed financing- The staff was beyond comforting accommodating and unbelievably professional! I can see better than 20/20 now after one day and a life time with glasses it is completely life-changing I highly recommended this to anybody considering Lasik! Today I visited the LasikPlus center on Montgomery Road, and as mentioned by TONS of others, Dr. Marino's staff is an excellent bunch with tons of enthusiasm and are very kind and helpful. That being said, there's so much false advertisement coming from this place. Dr. Marino is advertised as "the best in the tristate area", but what they DONT advertise is that he refuses to work on anyone who has eyes that are worse that 40/20. My eyes were a 50/20... he will only consider you as a "candidate" if you are EASY to work on. I was at this consultation as per order of the United States Marine Corps, as a potential piloting candidate, this meant nothing to Dr. Marino. I guess he's not as great as he said if he wouldn't take a challenge. Even if someone's eyes are PERFECTLY correctable, there's plenty to improve on. However, Dr. Marino can't tarnish his near perfect reputation. He'd rather operate on patients with relatively good eyes because he can easily fix small issues. If you're eyes are not already pretty good, he won't operate on you. Period. If I was TRULY the best, I would be more concerned about improving people's vision rather than my own reputation. I wasn't asking for perfect vision, I was only asking for an improvement, and Dr. Marino still refused. Not the way to keep potential customers happy. You think about REAL surgeons who are happy to help improve your quality of life if they can, I guess I was naive to expect the same quality and willingness to help from the "best Lasik surgeon in the tristate". read more

First off, I am so happy with the results of my Lasik surgery! Also, the team worked with me on everything, consultation to post-op. Everyone was so nice and friendly. They really want to make you feel like you're part of the "family." The price they quote you is the price you pay. It includes drops (except the prescription ones) and all post-op visits. The day of my surgery, my parents and my 6-year old niece were with me. I was nervous about my niece being there because I was afraid they'd see her as "in the way." But the staff and even Dr. Marino treated her the same as they treated me, a paying client. When she had questions, they answered them even though she really didn't understand. When she expressed that she was worried about me, Dr. Marino gave her his business card and told her to remind me to call the number with the 8 in the front (LOL). I cannot thank them enough for including her, it made her feel important during the process. I realize that this may seem irrelevant but if you think, if they're willing to entertain a 6 year old's questions, I know that they're willing to entertain mine. I was never planning on Lasik until my husband had it done a few months before I did. He was extremely happy with how well he was taken care of so I decided to just go for it. The staff is wonderful and extremely nice. The doctors are great and willing to answer all my questions and help calm my nerves. They have been great in making sure that my eye is healing correctly and even made sure to let me know that since I would only be getting lasik on one eye that the following week would be a little weird so that I wasn't shocked by how my vision was. Extremely happy I was willing to have the procedure done and have a few people now considering it more than they had previously. Would gladly recommend to anyone considering having their vision corrected. read more

I am not one to frivolously hand out a 5/5 rating so let me tell you why I think this location deserves it. I myself am a resident physician and therefore hold any medical office to a high standard of quality. Your visit will start with a video for commonly asked questions which is both helpful and expected when dealing with this type of surgical procedure. Many people can imagine how to fix a broken leg but a misshapen lens is something entirely different. You will then be taken into several check points on a thorough evaluation. You will receive multiple opportunities to ask questions and feel comfortable along the way. Dr. Marino takes the time to call before and after which is incredible considering how many patients he treats every day. Lastly, I am beyond thrilled with my results. This center is welcoming, organized, experienced and everything you could want when trusting your vision to someone else. Buy your shoes on sale, not your surgery. I went to Lasikplus unsure if I wanted the procedure. The intial examination was very thorough and all of the folks I was in contact with that day were super competent and friendly. I made an appt. for a week later for the procedure, and during that week stopped by another provider (Midwest) just to compare. I am so glad I went to Lasikplus! All my questions (and more) were answered, the results I could expect were repeatedly stated, the professionals were all kind, compassion, and super friendly. Dr. Mariano was friendly and has a great beside manner. He is about my age so I know he realizes the challenges I have with my vision. I felt 100% secure with my eyes in his capable hands. During the procedure the nurses/doc are super supportive. My vision improved immediately, Dr. M called that night to check up on me, and the followup so far has been great. I have no regrets and thank Lasikplus for a A++ experience. I highly recommend. read more

I would recommend Lasik Plus with Dr. Marino to anyone! I was so scared and nervous while waiting for the Lasik Procedure. The tech was very helpful and answered all my questions prior to me entering the operating room. She also demonstrated what it would be like which calmed some of my nerves. When Dr. Marino introduced himself to me prior to the surgery, he was caring and understanding. He greatly reduced all my nerves although I will admit, I was still nervous while the procedure occurred. Both Dr. Marino and his nurse talked me through everything the entire time. Dr. Marino held my head (probably to keep me still because of my nerves) but I chose to believe he was trying to continue to get me to relax, which helped. Whatever the reason, I am glad he did it! The only downside was that I experienced a burning sensation on my ride home when the numbing drops began to wear off but that was to be expected. (They tell you this may happen during the consultation visit so this was no surprise. I just wish I had been one of those individuals who didn't notice it). Once that sensation ended I was able to relax and take a nap. I woke up, opened my eyes and was so happy to see my digital alarm clock crystal clear! Thank goodness for modern medicine! Also, because Dr. Marino was so welcoming and understanding, I wish he could be my medical doctor as well. I read another post in Yelp where the individual did not have a good experience with Dr. Marino and am very surprised because that was nothing like what I encountered! LEt me start by saying I have worn glasses/contacts ever since I've been a toddler. I always thought my eyes were so bad I could never get Lasik. About 2 years ago I had to give up on the contacts, as they didn't feel comfortable anymore. I am 40+. Making the appointment was easy, and you can fill out the paperwork online. They actually confirmed that day. I arrived and was greeted by 3 very kind, cheerful ladies who walked me thru my appointment. I saw the first doctor who was so just as kind. She actually read my file before I got there and talked with me about my concerns. My eyes got dilated and I was off to see another Dr. I am telling you there is not one mean or unkind person there. I had it done yesterday and I am feeling like a miracle was preformed. Dr. Marino and his staff are probably the nicest, professional people you have ever met. The actual procedure took less than 10 minutes and you don't feel anything. Honestly. Dr. Marino & his staff talked me thru the entire event. When I sat up I could see. I cried. Today I can see better than when I wore glasses! I received the Monovision procedure as I am over 40 and I wanted some near and distance sight. It's only been less than 24 hours and I can't tell you how happy I am. Go. Do it. At least go see if you are a candidate, it doesn't cost anything and this facility will be informative and accommodating. read more

I cannot say enough about how wonderful LasikPlus and their staff is! I went in today for my free consultation. The staff is all super helpful and friendly. I was immediately at ease there. By a stroke of luck I was able to have my procedure the same day! I had lasik to correct my astigmatism and near sightedness today around lunch time. I was pretty nervous when it got time for the procedure but they literally hold your hand thru the whole thing. Dr Marino and his operating staff are a well oiled machine. They told me everything that would happen just before it would happen. They gave me countdowns that helped me to remain still as I knew how much longer I needed too. Their communication is soothing and completely perfect. Not too much and not too little. The procedure literally took less than 5 minutes from lying down to walking out. I slept on the hour drive home and woke up to watery eyes and a mildly gravel in the eyes feeling but it didn't hurt. I slept another 4 hours and awoke to perfect vision and barely even noticeable soreness. I can see like I have in my contacts! This is absolutely amazing! This will be the best money you ever spend. I am so happy that I finally got the nerve up to go see Dr Marino! read more

I have been in glasses or contacts for the better part of 30 years now. My prescription was to the point where I was close to not even being able to have the procedure performed. I was very nearsighted and very blind without my contacts or glasses. That all changed a week ago when Dr. Marino performed my life changing LASIK procedure. The difference was immediate and profound. I didn't know what to expect going into this and the financial commitment for my prescription was lofty but I decided to invest in myself and I couldn't be happier in the result. When you've had to use some form of vision correction since 2 years old and all of a sudden don't have to anymore, it's a very surreal feeling. And extremely exciting. Every single person I dealt with at LASIKplus was just amazing. They were personable, kind and immensely helpful. They took every bit of guess work out of the procedure and made me feel completely at ease. The excitement around my procedure was electric. Everyone seemed so happy and excited for me to have such a huge change in my vision. The procedure was painless with only slight discomfort during the flap creation. And that discomfort was only pressure on the eye. It was also very very fast. Only about 10-15 minutes from when I walked into the surgery room until I could see unaided. To make a long review a little shorter, this was without a doubt the best medical experience I've ever had. I would give them 100 stars if I could. If you are considering LASIK I highly recommend LASIKplus. You will not be disappointed. Even equal to around 5 years of contacts and glasses costs (due to my horrible prescription) I would tell anyone to get this done and get it done now. read more

I have worn glasses and contacts for 15 years and was unsure if I would be a candidate for Lasik, I was very nervous at the thought of eye surgery. A colleague went to LasikPlus in Cincinnati and highly recommended them so I thought I would at least go check them out. I scheduled my free consultation and from the first day when I attended my consultation appointment to the day of my follow-up, I received amazing service from the employees at LasikPlus in Cincinnati. Kathleen, a nurse, performed my consultation to determine if I was a candidate for Lasik and she was so friendly, personable, and patient. I had lots of questions and she took time to thoroughly answer every single one of them! She was also with me right before the surgery began and she answered a thousand more questions. She was always professional and so very knowledgable about the procedure and recovery. She really calmed my fears about Lasik and assured me I was in good hands. And she was right--Dr. Marino was the absolute best! He took the time to get to know me before the surgery and established rapport with me. Not only was he an amazing surgeon, but he was so friendly! The whole team was great during the surgery and helped to keep me calm, it only took about 5 minutes total! I could not have asked for a better experience than what I received at LasikPlus--every single staff member was exceptional and the facility was so professional and accommodating. There are snacks and refreshments everywhere and the office is so nice and comfortable! And the best part of the whole experience--my vision is 20/15! I am SOOO glad I went to LasikPlus!
