I liked Dr Fisher and she was very professional and seemed to know what she was talking about. Then it was finally time to look at frames and get prices. They thought I was easy to pull one over on. They told me it was cheaper to not use my insurance. They said that I need to have 3 different glasses. One with bifocals for the office. One for everything use. The third was sunglasses. Even just for the one pair which I would have chosen the everyday ones it was unbelievably high in cost. I took the prescription and went elsewhere and Ordered a pair of everyday glasses for $400 less than what I would have paid at Focal Point Eye Care. Do better. read more

the doctor side was ok, buying glasses there was terrible. they acknowledged the lenses were defective cloudy look in lenses would not do anything about it but clearly said nothing I did caused it. Cant believe they would not do anything even when staff agreed lense was defective. Very disappointing from any store let alone a higher end place. After scouring the area for good eyeglass options, I was so happy to find Focal Pointe. Interesting frames, big selection. Want a different color in frame? No problem, they will order it for you. Everywhere else in this area, not so much. My initial, happenstance encounter with them is why I sought them out later for frames. Needed a nose pad replaced suddenly, and though I'd never been there before, they came to my rescue with solid customer service. They also have a space that is open, bright, airy, and comfortable to spend time in! A while later, during the height of Covid, I took about a month+ deciding on frames. Part of that was waiting for ordered items to come in. The other part was how strict they were with protocols and appointments, sometimes it was hard or a wait to get a follow up appointment. But, the service and selection were the best I've encountered in this area, and I look forward to switching to them for annual eye check ups. read more

While I have not been to Dr. Lyons in a few years, he continues to leave a lasting impression on me and my family. He quickly became one of my favorite doctors I've ever had and I wished all doctors had his bedside manner. Very approachable, professional and knowledgeable. I always looked forward to my appointments so we could catch up. I've since moved from the Cincinnati area and have asked his office to provide my family a recommendation in my current city Chicago. Within the next day Dr. Lyons himself had emailed me and started working finding me a eye doctor I could trust in Chicago. Now that's above and beyond service and care for his patients. Focal Pointe Eye Care is truly "an eye care experience like none other." I have been a patient for 3+ years and I can honestly say Dr. Lyons and his amazing staff changed my life. I am no stranger to vision centers as I have been in corrective lenses for 20+ years and have a variety of eye issues, the most recent of which is keratoconus. I was diagnosed with this cornea condition in 2010 and spent a long four years at multiple eye offices, seeing various eye specialists and being fitted with almost every type of contact lens possible. My days were spent with red, achy eyes and constantly taking out my contacts and putting in eye drops. I could only drive during the day and social events were a struggle as my eyes were so uncomfortable and my condition prevented me from being able to see with glasses. When I learned about Dr. Lyons and Focal Pointe Eye Care in 2014, I made an appointment and hoped for the best. He was known for working with "hard-to-fit eyes" and had a variety of specialty contacts. It had been a long four years and I was willing to try anything. As soon as I stepped into FPEC, I felt a huge sense of relief. The warm welcome, attention to detail, the friendly staff and impeccably clean office blew me away. This is before I had even met Dr. Lyons and his wife, Liz, who is the Patient Care Manager. That's how important patients are to FPEC! Dr. Lyons took the time to listen to my struggles and concerns. He was very precise when taking my measurements and evaluating my vision. We went with scleral lenses for my eyes and they have made a world of difference. While it took a few follow-up appointments to ensure we had the right fit, it was well worth the time because I am able to see so much clearer and am in a lens that is far more comfortable compared to where I had been previously. I appreciate that Dr. Lyons and his team take a methodical approach and are so detail-oriented in my appointments. I always feel like I am in great hands and have confidence in what they say. Thanks to Dr. Lyons and the FPEC staff, I actually look forward to my annual eye appointments and any of the necessary follow-ups. They have created a place of welcoming and make you feel like part of the FPEC family. read more

I absolutely loved the optometrist, Dr. Fisher. She was professional, kind, and answered all of our questions. We will go back for future eye exams. Where I am disappointed is the service afterwards - I was left with multiple options for glasses and was likely naïve in allowing myself to be persuaded to purchase office glasses and bifocal sunglasses. The cost was somewhere north of astronomical. The bifocals were not positioned correctly in the lenses when received, and caused major nausea and headaches. They changed them to regular sunglasses with correction (removed the bifocal part) but did not adjust the price. I feel like after the "sale was made", the service was professional but aloof. I basically got a "sorry" when I asked if they could adjust the price based on the change in lenses. In addition, the cost of the frames was 2.5x what I found online! Ridiculous. Will never purchase glasses here again. Very disappointed since the doctors and assistants were great. read more

I found this office through a recommendation. I was having a ton of eye issues and the other two doctors I had went to, never gave me an answer. Dr. Lyons was very friendly and he took the time to listen to what was going on and asked me follow up questions to really get the information he needed. He was able to figure out my issues and also has provide me with treatments that have resolved them all. Not only is the doctor great the whole staff is amazing. They are all so friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. I highly recommend this office for your whole family. They are on the cutting edge and have all the top of the line equipment to help figure out any issues you might be having. Plus have a glasses selection like no other one I have seen, really cool frames from all over the world. read more

I have worn glasses and or contacts for most of my life and have gone to the same doctor in Dayton for over 40 years. I have never had any trouble until I switched to Focal Point, which is closer to my home. To start, they were 1/2 hour late for my appointment, then I spent an hour with an assistant. By the time Dr. Lyons finally saw me he needed to leave in a hurry because it was closing time. He (his assistant) gave me 1 contact to wear. When I explained that using 1 contact in one eye wasn't improving my vision, he told his assistant to try a stronger lens, then he left. Rather than have me try it on, she put one lens in a bag for me to take home, even though I had expressed that the "mono-vision" approach wasn't working. I was charged $65 extra for this rushed and useless contact fitting. I was so disappointed and frustrated with the way I was treated that I decided to take the glasses prescription to Lens Crafters. It turns out this prescription wasn't correct either. My vision was blurry and I couldn't see. I called the Focal Point office to let them know, and again they had me see a technician or assistant rather than the doctor. She said the glasses weren't made properly. I believed her at first, but had 2 different doctors verify that they were made correctly. No one at Focal Point rechecked my eyes to be sure I was given the correct prescription or even checked my vision with the glasses, and Dr Lyons was shockingly un-involved. He did spend time talking about the Fundus Imaging which his office convinced me to pay $30 extra for. He used this to suggest that I "might" have glaucoma and should return for more office visits and further tests even though his assistant had just given me what she called a "state-of-the art test for glaucoma that most offices don't have" and said that I didn't have any signs of glaucoma. My appointment with Focal Point was very expensive and I have nothing to show for it except a pair of $500 glasses that I can't use. (Lenscrafters was very helpful and dedicated to helping me get the right prescription, but Focal Point was not.) read more

Of all the medical offices I have been to in Cincinnati, this is, by far, the most patient oriented. Unlike most places, they actually treat you with respect. The doctors were nice, helpful, and were able to actually help my wife and I. They respond to your needs quickly, and effectively. When I had an emergency problem, they took care of me immediately; the same with my wife. I cannot recommend this place more highly for your vision needs. I called the office and specifically asked if they were open on Presidents' Day and they said yes. I explained I was off work that day, February 18 and would like to schedule appointment, and she said let me see what we have and she said we have a 3:15 appointment I said good I'll take it. I showed up for my appointment today at 3:15 and they did not have me in the books. The receptionist checked and they had me down for March 18. I thought maybe I made a mistake but I remember specifically asking them if they were open on Presidents' Day and the reply was yes . The receptionist simply said sorry and looked at me made no attempt at make accommodations to fix the problem. I had to call back and talk to the office manager and she offered a later appointment which I can't make. I specifically scheduled this appointment on my day off work and all she could say was sorry, ridiculous. If that's how they run their office and the receptionist simply looks at you and says sorry and doesn't make any attempt to do anything I want no part of that office. I will be going somewhere else. read more
