After going to a few different places throughout the years (Thoma, Wing, etc) I finally found what I was looking for! My first experience at Giovanetti Eyecare impressed me. I came in for an acute eye problem and I could not possibly be happier with how I was treated and the attention to detail on the exam. 1) I was able to be squeezed in the same day due to the fact that I was having an acute issue that day. Dr. Joe stuck around when he was finished just to see me. 2) My eye exam was very thorough. 2 different tests were able to be completed in office to give me peace of mind. Dr. Joe took almost two hours of his time being very sure to rule out any serious issues. This meant a lot to me. 3) The staff was very friendly, professional. Certainly every visit doesn't warrant such an in depth appointment. However any doctor that would spend so long and stay late to me is a testament that they truly care about their patients. I'll be getting my next eye exam here and I would say that at least on the west side of Cincinnati Giovanetti has to be the best around. read more

Dr. Nicholas Giovanetti is, in my opinion, a disgrace to his profession. In January 2022 he was seeing my 10-year-old daughter, and during her visit, it was discovered her vision hadn't markedly improved since the last time. When I asked him what the possible causes could be, and if he had any ideas for alternative treatment, he immediately got extremely defensive and took an accusatory tone, making my daughter feel like she had done something wrong. She was on the verge of tears. Keep in mind, nothing precipitated this odd behavior in him. I simply asked him a question, and he snapped. Maybe he was having a bad day. I really don't care, because that's no excuse. I asked my daughter to leave the room then asked him why he was exhibiting such an attitude. He then asked me to leave. As I was leaving, I expressed my dissatisfaction to the staff behind the desk. They were very apologetic and gave me the number of Joe Giovanetti, Nicholas' father and principle doctor in the practice. The next day I spoke with Joe. He was kind and apologetic, explaining to me that Nicholas had a lot going on personally, etc., etc. We talked at length, and Joe wanted me to stay with the practice, but assured me that in the future, my daughter would see him and not Nicholas. Today (July 2022), we returned to the office and Joe saw my daughter. The experience was pleasant and professional. While we were leaving, Nicholas caught a glimpse of us and immediately darted into his office, as if to avoid us. Several hours later, Joe called me at home. He told me he was unaware that I had gotten "physically aggressive" with his son Nicholas the last time we were there in January. To be clear, there was no physical aggression during the January appointment. I expressed my dissatisfaction with him vocally. I changed my tone of voice but not the volume of my voice. Our entire exchange lasted maybe 30 seconds before I complained to the staff. When Joe called me today, he essentially accused me of threatening his son. This is absurd. If I had threatened his son in January, would I return to the office for another visit? Would the staff not have been aware of such a threat? Why would Joe have been so apologetic when we spoke after the incident back in January? I think the explanation is clear: Nicholas Giovanetti is unprofessional, plain and simple. Perhaps this is what happens when you go to work at your dad's practice and don't have to build a business on your own. In any case, I'm not here to admonish the entire practice, because as I've stated, everyone else was cordial and professional. Just stay away from Nicholas. read more

nick is a great guy but the rest of the store is horrible. I was getting contacts and was having a hard time. I had to come back 2 times previously because they only give you 30 min to try. The one lady cut me off to only 15 min. It was very rushed and the employees were impatient. I have a horrible flinching problem and struggled as it is to get it in. Granted this was my only two attempts to putting them in. The women I was working with was very rude and insulting. I tried techniques I found from other eye doctors online to help make it easier. She said "what are you doing" I said putting it in.... and she said "WATCH ME". I said I know and before I could say anything else she said " NO YOU DONT KNOW". She was very disrespectful and insulted me multiple times to the fact I was struggling to get it in. Therefore I had enough of her attitude I got up and walked away. WILL NOT BE COMING BACK! So impressed by an urgent Friday evening request. My son ripped his contact after hours on a Friday night. He has a baseball tournament at 8 am the next morning. He was freaking out he wouldn't be able to see. We called the after hours number. Not only did the Dr. take our call, he actually ran to the office to get him a pack on his prescription contacts and had them waiting for us at 9 pm. Excellent customer service! I was a former lens crafters customer, when my job changed the benefits lens crafters didn't accept the insurance. I'm glad they didn't because this place is much more thorough with the eye exam and the prescription came out perfect! I have my second pair from here and am 100% satisfied. The frame selection is great and the prices are on par with other independent shops. They carry all kind of options from athletic wear to prescription sunglasses to chemistrie frames and accessories. My kids and I have been going to Giovanetti for years. In general, I've been happy with that practice, but right now I am pretty upset. I always schedule months in advance in order to get all three of us seen on one day in the first week of January. Doing so minimizes the amount of time I have to take off work, gets the kids seen while they are off school, ensures no one runs out of contacts before the next visit, and helps us maximize our insurance benefits. This year, I had all of us scheduled to be seen on January 3, 2018. In December, the receptionist called and said they had to move our appointments, the earliest we could reschedule was late January, and we had to split the three of us over two days. No explanation, no apology, and no extra effort to minimize our inconvenience. So now I have to take time off work on two days instead of one, and each of us will probably have to order two new boxes of contacts (one for each eye) that we won't fully use (90 day supply that we'll partly waste if our prescriptions change) to get us through to the date of the rescheduled appointment. Since insurance only covers an eye exam every twelve months, this throws our schedule off forever now. And with kids getting ready to go off to college next year, that really screws us up. If we had been seen on 1/3 this year as scheduled, next year's eye exams and eye exams in future years could be scheduled while the kids are home from college for Winter Break. But since they now have to wait 12 months from January 29 (and twelve months after whatever date they're able to schedule for next year, etc.), they'll be back in school by the time insurance will cover another eye exam. I understand things come up and that a doc may have to reschedule, but I think this was handled poorly. I am also in a client services industry and if I have a last minute conflict with a scheduled appointment, I either have someone else from my practice cover the appointment (if the client approves), or I reschedule as close to the original appointment date as possible, even if that means I come in early or stay later than I otherwise would for that appointment. Telling a client I couldn't reschedule for three to four weeks and causing them serious inconvenience in the process is bad for business. read more
