Pretty satisified experience in this place! After church, we ate here for lunch and we love their food. Authentic Cuban vibe inside, the service is great and the food is delicious. Huge servings as well! Worth it

Perfect place to enjoy homemade style Cuban food in Mt. Dora. Customer service is great and staff is very helpful and friendly. Seating can be tight if dining with a large party and the dining room is busy. Seating is comfortable and there are also tables outside for those interested! Highly recommend this Latina restaurant when visiting this lovely town!

This was our first time visiting Mount Dora and we found ourselves drawn into Las Palmas by the menu and cool vibes. We sat inside because it was a hot day but would have loved to sit outside. Las Palmas is on a corner of the Main Street and there is outside seating on both streets of the corner. Everyone was friendly but a server was fantastic! The drinks were freshly made and delicious. The rum punch was too good! The Cuban bread was served with a cilantro sauce and garlic butter. Both were delicious on the freshly grilled bread. Our meals were hearty and delicious.

Yep, that's exactly what it looks like.

UPDATE: Sadly, the Owner of Las Palmas, Edna G., continues to post to my original review (see below). Yelp Friends, in over 10 years of posting reviews, I have never seen a poor response like hers. The true shame is her inability to move on. The further shame is the lack of palatable food at this establishment. Edna, your employees have my sympathies if THIS is how you respond to visitors of your restaurant. Again, this Owner continues to post to my review due to her inability to process one bad review. You need this, poor Edna, so here it is...you win. You have $20 of my money. And now, because of your consistent harassment, my commitment to warning other patrons about not just the poor dining experience but your troublesome leadership. Karma indeed... Having read the response from the Owner, I'm not surprised they were so defensive but that they would assume trying to berate a first-time patron, who was only being honest about her first visit, was the best route. Edna, if Christ came down off the cross and offered me free food from your restaurant, I'd still pass. BTW, love the bug zapper under your security cameras in the dining room, too. Sí o no? A resounding NO. I waited months to try Las Palmas after moving to Mt. Dora. Now I know why. Hugely disappointing experience and I will never return. The server was nice enough, but after ordering a basic Cuban sandwich with "seasoned" fries I sat waiting for almost 20 minutes before getting my food. They are currently looking for kitchen help, so okay delay. When I finally did get my food it was mediocre at best. A bland Cuban sandwich is enough to make any Hispanic sad. The "seasoned" fries? Seasoned with...banality. I didn't even taste salt, but noticed there sure seemed to be enough oil on my plate under the fries. But the nail in the coffin (shudder) was, as I was preparing to leave, seeing a large cockroach on the dining room floor. I pointed it out to my server, left the other half of the unfinished Cuban in the takeout container on the table and walked out. They got $19 from me today - they'll never get another dime. And I HIGHLY recommend they figure out their situation before a health inspector stops by. Blech...

Food was okay. We went during the Christmas tree lighting event, it was very busy during that time. Service was slow.

This restaurant has great food and is very consistent. There are several great choices for appetizers, drinks and entrees. My daughter likes the chicken mofongo. And I like the shredded pork that comes covered with onions and comes two sides. I had black beans, yellow rice and plantains. The food comes out promptly and hot. The passion fruit mojoito and Pina colada were excellent. Good service, great food, good portions and if you sit by the window it is good view of the visitors. We have been here several times and will come back.

I got a chance to come in after work and sit at the bar. They have all the Cuban seats and decor all over the restaurant. I ordered a tall Modelo Especial. That ice cold mug with Modelo Especial hit the spot. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and Fries. Like always, the Cuban Sandwich and Fries are great. I didn't leave anything behind. The service was good. This is my favorite Cuban restaurant to come to near home. Until next time!

Wanted Cuban flavor and boy did we get it! From Cuban burger sandwich to garlic shrimp it was really delicious service was good and restaurant ambiance/decor was colorful and vibrant. Bathrooms could use an update though. Other than that it was pretty good.

We were immediately seated when we arrived at the restaurant. Prices and portions are really good. I ordered a sangria and the churasco steak. I enjoyed the drink and food. Server was very helpful and friendly.

One of our favorites so we come here a lot. My favorite items to order are the mango margarita , cafe con leche, ropa vieja, and flan! Tonight we all order items to share ( minus the wine of course because yea... no! lol ) Cuban sandwich was delicious per usual, tostones were full of flavor and my first time ordering the mofongo. Not my favorite but it was flavorful and a huge portion. My bestie is Cuban and she enjoyed it more than me so that's a big plus . Love this traditional Cuban decor through out the restaurant. It's a nice chill place and service is good.

I've been to this restaurant on several occasions with my wife, friends and family and the food never disappoints! From the small Cuban breads with sauces to the delicious cocktails, it's always great! The atmosphere makes you feel like you're in a small town Cuban restaurant. Service could be a little better since we tried to order additional sides but the waitress only came by once. Despite that we recommend this place if you're looking for some delicious Cuban food!

We love the food & drink at Las Palmas! So much so that we occasionally drive about 45 minutes to eat here. The restaurant setup inside is a little crowded but comfortable. There are Cuban posters and decorations which sets a nice scene. The service is just okay. We love the Cuban bread starter that is passed when you are seated. My favorite meal is the picadillo!

We stopped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised at our nice the inside is. Our server was lovely. Her name was Shiloh. My tostado salad was filled with meat and black beans. Yum. My husband order a Cuban sandwich. His favorite. Said it was delicious. What can be so bad. Good service. Good food.

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

Asked for a water immediately, and set my things down before going to the restroom... which was clean, easy to find, and well stocked, so zero issues there! Hehehe..... When I returned, I had a water and the bar menu as well as the lunch menu waiting for me. I ended up getting the Crooked Can/Frog and Monkey collaboration IPA, which was lovely. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich, because reading it on the menu outside was what had originally drawn me into the restaurant, and a cup of the French Onion soup rather than getting the fries that came with. The soup was up first, and it was delightful- nice, hardy chunks of onion without being too big/sliding off my spoon, a well developed broth, and a fantastic amount of cheese. The sandwich was lovely, great slices of turkey and decently sized pieces of brie and apple to go along with it. Unfortunately, when I went to get the second half of my sandwich, I noticed what looked like a dark beard hair on it.... as I was dining alone, and my long hair was tied up, definitely not mine. I called over my server, and I pointed it out to her... she asked if I wanted to have a new sammie or get it taken off the bill. I asked if I could pay for the soup, since I had finished it, but not the sammie and she absolutely agreed to that. I wrapped up my meal and left to keep going on my day. Everywhere has issues occasionally, but this was handled well, so I will mention it, and I do knock off a star for this visit, but I am still willing to try again if I am in the area.

The one oyster I started to bite into was the WORST tasting I've had in a long time. It was gritty and tasted like it had died, before it was caught. I asked the server to let the manager or cook know this, as I was concerned for other customers' safety. She gave this look like it was me who was the problem. No manager bothered to come to our table, to ask me about it, either. She also scoffed at my reaction when she said that the Alaskan King Crabs market price went up to $92 / lb - which I thought was way overpriced for a place like Red Crab. So, I got the snow crab legs, which were excellent, as well as the boiled potatoes. The generous amount of butter had an off-putting flavor, but still went well with the crab legs. The corn on the cob sucked, as it was soggy, from clearly being kept in a warming oven or pot for too long. The cheesecake was small, but really good, although I did have to ask about desserts when the server was ready to give us the check. She was also slow in bringing out the dessert and updating our check, but nicer towards the end of the dinner. This is about the 5th time I've been to Red Crab - and just this location. They need to work on food quality consistency, better training on the servers, and take seriously when a customer nicely complains about raw oysters, that don't taste fresh and clean.

A quaint little town northwest of Orlando…read more There's shopping, some nice little restaurants, and a big ol' lake that you can rent a catboat on and drive it around. That's what we did that morning. Ambiance was great. It felt like each little dining area was a different room in a big, semi-haunted mansion. Eclectic books and paintings and mirrors and other baubles adorned much of the walls, making for plenty of looking around time during you meal. Very fun. Service was really good. The pacing of the meal was great, and our server was very friendly. We were always with drink, and she knew the menu backwards and forwards, even the special dishes of the night. As for the food, we went whole hog with two apps, two mains, and a dessert to share. Out of everything we ordered, only one of them remains on the current menu, which is a great sign. I love a rotating, seasonal menu. It shows effort, and it definitely encourages return patronage. We started with the Ciabatta Board (toasted ciabatta, house butter made with sun dried tomato, roasted red pepper, parmesan, garlic, chive). This was nice. It was very sun dried tomato, so if you don't like them, don't get this. But very soft, toasty bread made this very lovely. We also got an escargot app which was very creamy and soup-like. The snails were complimented well by the spinach. And the whole thing came with a nice little breadstick. I saved some of the bread from the board for some sopping. Pro move. For our mains, we got a miso butter New York strip and some sort of Asian themed duck. For both mains, the proteins were cooked very very well, and the portion sizes were a good size compared to what I was expecting. Both sets of taters were good. The mash was very smooth and creamy, the roasted baby potatoes were cooked all the way through and were nice and naturally buttery. Both were served with a seasonal veg mix that was pretty ok. It rounded out the plate, but it won't change your world or anything. We finished off with one of the best slices of cheesecake I've ever had. Incredibly smooth with the perfect cheesecake density, the perfect amount of chocolate chips inside, and a nice little crust that added that little bit of texture that is needed from the crust. Overall, quite a meal! To survive in a small town with these prices and those quality ingredientes and that unique of a menu design is very impressive. I will certainly be back.
