Today is the 17th anniversary party. Salsa dancing and a fabulous mojito. Not leaving anytime soon. get here as fast as you can. This place is ridiculously great with authentic tasty Cuban food.

SERVICE: 5 FOOD QUALITY: 4 DRINK QUALITY: 5 ORDER TIME: 4 AESTHETICS: 5 NOISE LEVEL: 3 MENU SELECTION: 5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 4.43 Beautiful Cuban restaurant in the heart of Mount Dora with a lively outdoor terrace that comes alive with live music. We stopped in for the music and some Cuban mojitos, and they did not disappoint. The mojitos were perfectly balanced, refreshing, and priced just right. The only drawback was the outdoor sound system -- the speakers were set a bit too loud, and when they cracked or squealed, it was a little hard on the ears. That said, the atmosphere, extensive menu with something for everyone, and overall vibe make it a great spot. If you're in the area and just want to relax with a drink, I can definitely recommend it.

5/5 for Copacabana Cuban Cafe! This is the second time I have been here and every time I am in Mount Dora I have to stop here and eat. There is sitting inside and outside, the outside did have live music but I was with my two little kids and decided to sit inside. My husband ordered the Pernil with yellow rice and black beans and tostones. He loved it. I got the steak with onions and yellow rice, plantains and black beans. I usually love black beans but it tasted weird to me so I didn't eat the black beans. My son got the kids burger with French fries and he ate it all up so apparently it was delicious! I had ordered a pitcher of Sangria and when the server brought it to the table I thought she had messed up because it was orange, little do I know they make their Sangria with orange juice and not wine. I thought that was strange, maybe they should rename the drink. Can't wait to come back!

5 stars for delicious food, pet friendly patio and fun atmosphere. I know we came on a special day because there was a live singer and musicians on the patio. We also had a whole tour bus from Miami come and fill the restaurant and let me tell ya, they were ready to party and so was I! We all got up to dance after finishing (and in between) meals. We also did the Congo line all around the patio area of the restaurant. It was so much fun! Food wise. I had ropa vieja and lomo de cerdo, yuca frita y yuca en mojo. All was tasty and I especially loved that green sauce they brought to the table. I added it to everything!

We stopped in for a late lunch and we were immediately seated. We ordered a few beers and they were really cold. For our lunch I had the masitas de puerco, also and order of rabo, chillo, and paella the food came out and was very good. Great flavor and a sizable portion for all our meals. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed our lunch.

People love hearing the music here. It and a random outside kitty cat asking for food is the best part. Other than that, service is not good. Water is nasty tap water, food is not good. Lastly, they will charge you to share a plate even if you order two items. They will notate sharing and not tell you about it. The menu will say $5 to share a plate and then receipt says sharing $6.25 and server is clueless on how to explain this. She quickly runs away, & asks for the manager. Manager says I'm sorry we didn't change it in the register to charge $6.25 bc it is a festival and the menu still says $5. FYI, if you want to share a plate, they don't split it for you, & won't give you an extra plate. You have to ask for it but still no problem, you get a sharing plate charge on your check. Fully unacceptable as we ordered fried cheese with watery guava not even sauce and fricasse chicken with one potato. This whole experience was a joke. We also came in earlier so it was not too busy. This said sharing service charge was taken off, and this experience will be chalked up to a restaurant we will not go back to again.

My party of 5 stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. We knew there would be a wait due to the busy craft fair that was going on. After waiting, maybe 30 minutes, we were seated at a table on the patio. Drinks were ordered and brought out fairly fast. I ordered the cuban sandwich with fried yuca. It took a while for our entrees to come out, but that was expected. There were 2 side dishes for others at the table that the server forgot to bring out, and it took a long time to get her attention and get those out. My cuban was just okay. The bread was delicious but not much meat and 2 small pickles for the whole sandwich. The yuca was also just okay. There was nothing to rave about. Where we sat on the patio, there was a cart with tubs on it where the bus boys would sling dirty plates and cups into. Yes, I said SLING. Two different times plates were thrown into the tubs that were filled with liquids and those liquids splashed all over the legs of my friend. The staff knew they messed up but never apologized.

We went to Copacabana for the first time to meet friends. Everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered the Palomilla and chicharones. We sat outside because the we away nice. Our server was very tentative and made sure to come around all the time in case we needed anything. I would say service was great. I would rate the whole experience a 5 star and would recommend this place.

Copacabana is your place for Cuban if you're visiting Mount Dora! There's another Cuban restaurant in better location that is always super busy but the reviews don't seem great. We love that this one is such under the radar. The food is good and priced well. The first time we visited we had a Cuban sandwich. This time we ordered the Fricase De Pollo for $17. It comes with your choice of rice, beans and tostones or maduros. I love that it comes with potatoes and olives (although I feel like there wasn't much on our dish). We also got a side of fried yucca for $4. It has a ton of garlic on top, which I loved. Another plus, free Cuban bread to start with two different dipping sauces!! Love that while waiting for your food, it really makes a difference. Service is quick and friendly.

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

The only thing about that sandwich is that I was expecting to have kimchi in it and I only found it to have this purple cabbage which isn't kimchi so kind of misleading. My boss had mac grilled cheese (the one with ribeye) and said the macaroni made it a bit blend so for more flavor you should probably go with classic grilled cheese sandwiches. He also complained about ground beef in his sandwich so if you expect cut pieces of ribeye I guess that's not what you would get. I had a good experience with my sandwich though except kimchi! The location is really cool and hipsterish. Outside seating is the best part! Service was fairly quick (within 15 minutes).

Asked for a water immediately, and set my things down before going to the restroom... which was clean, easy to find, and well stocked, so zero issues there! Hehehe..... When I returned, I had a water and the bar menu as well as the lunch menu waiting for me. I ended up getting the Crooked Can/Frog and Monkey collaboration IPA, which was lovely. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich, because reading it on the menu outside was what had originally drawn me into the restaurant, and a cup of the French Onion soup rather than getting the fries that came with. The soup was up first, and it was delightful- nice, hardy chunks of onion without being too big/sliding off my spoon, a well developed broth, and a fantastic amount of cheese. The sandwich was lovely, great slices of turkey and decently sized pieces of brie and apple to go along with it. Unfortunately, when I went to get the second half of my sandwich, I noticed what looked like a dark beard hair on it.... as I was dining alone, and my long hair was tied up, definitely not mine. I called over my server, and I pointed it out to her... she asked if I wanted to have a new sammie or get it taken off the bill. I asked if I could pay for the soup, since I had finished it, but not the sammie and she absolutely agreed to that. I wrapped up my meal and left to keep going on my day. Everywhere has issues occasionally, but this was handled well, so I will mention it, and I do knock off a star for this visit, but I am still willing to try again if I am in the area.

That's what we did that morning. Ambiance was great. It felt like each little dining area was a different room in a big, semi-haunted mansion. Eclectic books and paintings and mirrors and other baubles adorned much of the walls, making for plenty of looking around time during you meal. Very fun. Service was really good. The pacing of the meal was great, and our server was very friendly. We were always with drink, and she knew the menu backwards and forwards, even the special dishes of the night. As for the food, we went whole hog with two apps, two mains, and a dessert to share. Out of everything we ordered, only one of them remains on the current menu, which is a great sign. I love a rotating, seasonal menu. It shows effort, and it definitely encourages return patronage. We started with the Ciabatta Board (toasted ciabatta, house butter made with sun dried tomato, roasted red pepper, parmesan, garlic, chive). This was nice. It was very sun dried tomato, so if you don't like them, don't get this. But very soft, toasty bread made this very lovely. We also got an escargot app which was very creamy and soup-like. The snails were complimented well by the spinach. And the whole thing came with a nice little breadstick. I saved some of the bread from the board for some sopping. Pro move. For our mains, we got a miso butter New York strip and some sort of Asian themed duck. For both mains, the proteins were cooked very very well, and the portion sizes were a good size compared to what I was expecting. Both sets of taters were good. The mash was very smooth and creamy, the roasted baby potatoes were cooked all the way through and were nice and naturally buttery. Both were served with a seasonal veg mix that was pretty ok. It rounded out the plate, but it won't change your world or anything. We finished off with one of the best slices of cheesecake I've ever had. Incredibly smooth with the perfect cheesecake density, the perfect amount of chocolate chips inside, and a nice little crust that added that little bit of texture that is needed from the crust. Overall, quite a meal! To survive in a small town with these prices and those quality ingredientes and that unique of a menu design is very impressive. I will certainly be back.
