Good food, but the in person service is a major letdown. I really wanted to love this place. We ordered their food to my job all the time and always thought it was pretty decent, so I was excited to finally visit in person on June 7th around 5 PM. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the food. When we arrived, there were only two other guests being helped at the counter and the dining room was empty. No one greeted us when we walked in. No one offered us a menu. We actually sat down to see if anyone would eventually acknowledge us, but after waiting in silence for 20 min we finally had to get up and ask what they even had available to eat. Because of the vibe and the fact that they close at 7 PM, we felt uncomfortable ordering a full meal and just got some alcapurrias and pastelillos. To make matters worse, the girl with the red hair at the front counter was especially rude and made us feel like an inconvenience. We don't have many options for authentic Puerto Rican cuisine that actually reminds us of home in the area, so I genuinely hope management sees this and addresses the front of house service. Food was delicious!! We had a party of 11 so tried plenty of different entrees. From the carne frita mofongo and shrimp mofongo to el jabrito with churrasco steak and rice all was amazing!! The bacalitos and alcapurias cubes with mayo ketchup to dip was awesome as well. Tostones and grilled chicken was great as well. Piña mojito and strawberry margarita were delicious!! Que Rico!!! Family and I showed up an hour before closing and the service and food was AMAZING. We had bacalaitos, alcapurria bites, surrollitos, arroz con gandules, mofongo con camarones al ajillo. This was our first time trying this place out, so we ordered a few different things to share. We first had the beef empanadas (which were way bigger than we expected for the price). They packed a flavor punch! We also had the crazy fries which were HUGE and had lots of great flavors and textures. My husband ordered the La Jibara (chicken & bacon wrapped mofongo, smothered in the most amazing cilantro cream sauce and cheese) with a side of this amazing rice dish that was SO GOOD! I decided to try this new spot for the first time and overall it's not bad at all. I was starving and didn't want to cook dinner but craved something different so I headed out and finally gave it a chance. I love Spanish food since I'm from the Caribbean also so I already knew what to expect having grown up eating Authentic Puerto Rican food and other similar dishes from various cultures as well. Upon walking in I was greeted by a nice gentleman who asked if I'd like to dine in or do takeout. I opted for takeout since I had a few other stops on the way home. I ended up placing an order for the Pernil (shredded pork) with rice and beans with a side of plantains. The cashier rung me up for tostones but I asked a server to be sure I got the regular fried sweet plantains I wanted and she politely relayed the message to the cook for me. My meal came up to about $20 it was a little more than I expected. I waited about 45 min to an hour before receiving my meal so that was a bit disappointing but Once I got home to dive in that kind of made up for it since the food was delicious the pork was seasoned well and not too salty. I wish the rice and beans were already combined but that they were still good to being separate. The portion size was perfect and I was actually able to make two meals out of it having leftovers for my lunch the next day. So I guess 20 bucks was not bad after all since I was able to make 2 meals out of 1. The restaurant was pretty full on this day surprisingly so that's a good thing as I've noticed many times passing by they seemed to get pretty packed. I visited this location prior when it was a Mexican restaurant so I'm very familiar with the interior but I like what the new owners did to give the space a bit of sprucing up. We arrived on Saturday at 5:00 PM and were attended to pretty quickly, even though we were a group of nine. The service was prompt, and the menu had everything we were looking for. I ordered mamposteado, a Coke Zero, churrasco, and tostones. The Coke had to be replaced with a bottled one because the fountain version tasted like water. The mamposteado was perfect. The churrasco, which I requested medium rare, came out almost well done--that was a disappointment. To add to that, it wasn't actually churrasco but rather flank steak. Nice to have another Puerto Rican restaurant here at Clermont. They have both the food serves from the steamed table and from the menu. The service was great. Our waitress checked back with us several times and answered all our questions about the food. I got the crazy fries as lunch and it was so reasonably priced at only $10. The fries was loaded with pull pork, mozzarella cheese, and Mayo-ketchup. I was a regular customer until today that the quality of the dinner plate I always order was totally different. La Jibara chicken plate was dry and very thin compare to previous even the mofongo was dry. The manposteao that is the highlight of the restaurant was just rice and beans. I mentioned it to the staff and they said nothing changed nor the cook, etc. Even the water was very bad unlike before. Their service has always been slow and inattentive but we put up with it since the food was so good. This is another latin restaurant that could not maintain the quality that made them popular. Went in on a Tuesday night. It wasn't busy. My breaded steak was really good! It was easy to cut and had good flavor! The little cheese bites with guava sauce was out of this world! I recently visited La Jibarita de P.R., a new restaurant in Clermont, Florida, that opened a month ago. I ordered mofongo with fried pork meat and rice with delicious pigeon peas. I have visited several Puerto Rican restaurants since I moved from Chicago two years ago, but none of them could make arroz con gandules like La Jibarita de P.R. did. The portion sizes were generous, and I could take leftovers home. Given the amount of food and the current inflation, I found the prices moderate. I also enjoyed a virgin Pina colada, which was the best I have had in Florida so far. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and they played Puerto Rican music appropriately. The waitstaff was friendly, and my food arrived promptly. Overall, I had a great experience at La Jibarita de P.R. and would recommend it to others.
