    Large Oxtail

Having never eaten Caribbean food before, I was nervous and very skeptical of trying it. My work colleague brought me to this place that didn't look like much and was really just a hole in the wall; of which, through my experience has delivered the best meals. The food was amazing. The tail was super tender and flavorful, the collard green were good and so were the Mac and cheese. The beef patty was fresh and handmade. No complaints, great portions, decent prices.

Waste of $20. The Mac and cheese was definitely scrapped from the bottom of the pan. Not to mention when you pay they claim the machine they use charges a fee but they don't know how much the fee will be so they give you one total but charge your card something different. Won't be going back.

If you're looking for a Caribbean Restaurant, these are the greatest hits: *GIANT servings *FLAVOR that hits your mouth every bite *LOTS of Caribbean classics available Nightowl hits these out of the park! My ox tails were generously portioned and heavy with meat. They were piled on a huge serving of red beans and rice, and the fatty juices permeated through the whole plate (just how you'd want it if you're ordering ox tails.) The macaroni and cheese is with big noodles and thick sauce. It was just an all around perfectly done to go order of what I was craving.

The food here was so good and definitely worth the wait. I have been here twice now, and both times the food was good. The portions are a nice size and the food is well seasoned. I definitely will be back again and I highly recommend this place.

First time try after hearing so many good reviews. They did not disappoint! I got two orders of the jerk pork with plantains and green beans. One of the orders I got with spicy sauce and the other order was with the sweet sauce. The smell and taste were both amazing! I wanna go back and try the jerk chicken now!

We called this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised to have very authentic West Indian food that had our taste buds calling for more!

CGRT is an NYC-style spot, the physical appearance and food quality is very authentic in that aspect. For me, the hardest part about living in Florida has finding good food spots, so CGRT gets a thumbs up in my book. The first few times I've visited CGRT, I've ordered the gyro (combo) over rice plate and the curry chicken with roti. Both are excellent. I'm not a big fan of curry chicken but theirs is one of the best I've had. The roti was very soft and tasty. The last time I visited CGRT, I ordered the jerk flavored wings with vegetable lo mein. That was really good! I honestly didn't expect much but the quantity and flavor of the food was really good. It's a spicy meal so prepare yourself, but it not over-the-top so don't worry. I'm willing to bet everything else on the menu is really good as well. I just wish they had a better drink selection. There is never more than one or two selections, which I just don't understand. Otherwise, hit up CGRT if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed.

I will be ordering again. The only reason I gave it a four due to the chicken roti not coming with any channa or pumpkin. It was weird to order a roti without those coming with it. I did come later in the evening so I appreciate still being served. The staff was friendly and the interior was not so big but still had seating.

After seeing decent reviews, I decided to try Caribbean Eatz Restaurant and Grill. I ordered the Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas. Service was quick and efficient. I noticed online that they offer mac and cheese and wanted to add it to my order, but I was told it would not be ready for a while. Since it was already past lunch time, that was a little surprising. One thing they do well is portion size. The serving was very generous and easily enough for more than one meal. They are not shy with the oxtail gravy, and that gravy was rich and flavorful. The rice and peas were also solid, well cooked and nicely balanced. Where the experience fell short was the jerk chicken. Authentic jerk should have bold seasoning, depth, heat, and that unmistakable smoky flavor from proper preparation. This tasted more like baked chicken with minimal seasoning. It lacked the spice profile and complexity that defines true jerk. For a dish that is meant to be the highlight, it simply did not deliver. Overall, the portions and sides show promise, but when you are craving authentic Jamaican jerk, flavor is everything. That signature kick and seasoning just were not there. When I arrived at the end of the parking lot where the truck is situated, (diagonally across the street from Justin Square), I was met by what seemed to be a family-owned and run business. Pops was in the back of the cool-looking truck smoking some meats, Momma was taking orders and serving, and Junior was was helping out. If I am correct, then Jam Rock Country Style Jerk is even more endearing to me than it already is! Ok, onto the food. So of course I have to always order my favorite go-to meal: Jerk chicken, rice and peas, cabbage, and cornbread. The small order was $10 or you can go for the large at $13. I also had to order order a beef patty and a pineapple Jamaican soda. I must say, everything was IRIE! This makes me very happy because I will be a "regular" here, so they better get to know me :) The jerk chicken was smoked well and you could just taste the wonderful smoke and spices. The rice and peas were good, not hard or soggy. The cornbread was good and I was happy to have been given a pretty large piece. The cabbage was also good. I haven't eaten the beef patty yet but it looks really good and authentic like I loved back in NYC. I really have no complaints. What put this experience over the top for me was when Momma asked me if I wanted ox-tail gravy over the rice! Ummm...YES, and MORE please!
